Activision Blizzard CEO Robert Kotick was interviewed and profiled by The New York Times today. In the interview Kotick was discussing Infinity Ward’s issues back in 2010. The Co-Founders of Infinity Ward studio Vince Zampella and Jason West both were fired from Infinity Ward in 2010 after they got in a big law suite claim with Activision over a fraud issue.

Now in the interview with Kotick he claims it was an easy decision to fire Infinity Ward co-founders.

“You find out two executives are planning to break their contracts, keep the money you gave them, and steal 40 employees. What do you do? You fire them..” Kotick said.

Kotick also stated that he has no plans to allow Call of Duty to become a movie, and has turned down many of the studio’s offers to make one.

I like the Call of Duty franchise, I really do! I love playing each title every year and since I’m a big fan I don’t have any time left for other games because I always want to achieve maximum prestige in multiplayer.

Call of Duty has a lot of potential and it became an annual event like christmas and the holidays. The only thing I’m afraid of is the role Activision has behind it. I think we can all agree they are here for the money but to what extent?

I don’t know what really happened between Activision and Infinity Ward co-founders back in 2010. There are so many versions and speculations that you don’t know what to believe in anymore. I just hope Activision is not going to shutdown the CoD franchise whenever profits start going down because we all know it might happen if the hired studios fail to deliver fresh new innovative content to fans expecting more each year.

In french, there’s a saying that says something like that: “Every good thing come to an end”. A part of me doesn’t want to believe it but another part agrees and I think we will have to give up Call of Duty one day and switch to something else unless they find ways to keep the franchise alive with new exciting titles every year but this is something really hard to achieve considering the demanding audience of gamers and fans.

Guitar Hero has been so popular that I never thought they would stop developing titles around it. Is the same thing going to happen to Call of Duty? Will other FPS titles like Battlefield take it down for good? Who knows…

Sorry if I went out of the subject on this one.

      cool story bro.

fuck Infinity Ward, if they dont make smt better with mw4,i will play black ops 2 <3 TREYACH <3

    • Ray’

Completely Agree. IMO Black ops 2 is the best COD

      • Минас Гадалла

        yep 🙂

  • Ray’

I must say look at the variety among Treyarch games, world at war, black ops, black ops 2 (future), compared to infinitiy ward with mw1 mw2 mw3, they need to change things up as many are losing interest in the modern warfare series

    • incubusman421

If you played the campaign you would know that there’s really not much they can do for a “MW4″… all of the villains and secondary characters are dead. I would say the next IW game will probably be a reboot or something like future warfare… I hope they only take the good from Blops2 and leave the lag in the MP behind… lol

      • Ray’

this might not be a popular option but I wouldn’t mind seeing another WW2 game, but I doubt it will happen.

        • incubusman421

I would like to see them do the unthinkable… Make a game about the Korean War… No other video game publishers have made Korean War games because they are afraid of the political issues. Then again, I think that a reboot would be more of a realistic scenario. They could make it about the Iraq War from start to finish, the War in Afghanistan, the CIA’s proxy wars, Mogadishu, Operation Just Cause, Operation Conflict in Kosovo, Invasion of Grenada or perhaps a mixture of all of the above.

Try Homefront mate, it’s a fps set in the near future when North Korea has successfuly invaded America

          • incubusman421

Homefront is OK. You know it was originally supposed to be CHINA instead of NK that invaids America but the dev’s were afraid to use China in the event that the game were to become a big hit…Meanwhile, Activision is making a play for free version of CoD multiplayer…

I don’t care about his reasons I still think he’s a scumbag for doing so. His reasons he says are complete bs anyways. We all know it was just so he wouldn’t have to pay them for mw2. The dudes a major liar.

  • Apocity

What a douche i want a Cod movie XD and he even looks like a douche lol

  • Projacol

His face reminds me of Manuel Noriega lol…

    • Ray’

      Literally LOL’d

  • ThisIsNotALoveSong

He looks like such a fat greedy american..

  • The Flash

he has no idea how successful a COD Zombie movie could be if they got it right

  • Vallus

what a d-bag…..the question is WHY they wanted to leave early

  • ORB1T4L

I don’t understand how it was “easy” ! I mean… these guys MADE CoD ! Seriously, how can he say it was EASY ? They’re the reason why Activision makes 2-3 billion dollars per year… Not even a “thank you so much for making us the richest bastards in the history of video games”, and I think it sucks. I’ll personnally thank them for creating this gaming series when I’ll meet them (next E3 maybe when they’ll show their new game) and I fucking mean it. I think we should all thank them for what they’ve created : an addicting and great franchise we all love.

MW2 was headed in the right direction. These games that have come out afterwards are good but every single one everyone says “if only this had been done this way”. We didn’t do that on MW2. Fuck an emblem generator so I can see people make vulgar pictures of dolphins, give me things to earn, let me blue my weapon or add engraving or change hand grips on a pistol…what about different melee weapons?..with the amount of money they have you would think they would make dedicated servers on console so every game isn’t about who has the best connection.
