Infinity Ward’s Executive Producer Mark Rubin recently answered some questions from fans on Twitter and revealed some details regarding developing the current & next-gen build. When a fan asked if dynamic maps and player customization were coming to current-gen consoles, not only did Mark confirm that they were, but also mentioned it almost didn’t happen due to “memory limitations”.

If you remember back in the MW3 days, we continually asked, no begged Infinity Ward to add gun DLC, unfortunately it wasn’t a possibility back then due to memory limitations. It would be interesting to find out if this is all possible due to the new engine, or maybe even a mandatory install? We’ll try to find out for you guys at the MP reveal…

I’m hoping gun DLC will get big with Ghosts.

    • Hopefully they do some sort of “Throwback Bringback weapon DLC” every DLC drop. If not in the game, I would love to see the Aug (AR version), G36, AK74U, Spas 12. Just a few. Obviously there’s more.

      • MeisseN

Thought Ghosts has no connection with MW series

        • StraightEdgeAtheist

That doesn’t mean they can’t put in those weapons.

        • OscarTheTitan

Those are real life guns. Doesn’t matter if they were in the modern warfare franchise

    • Alex | FamousIsLIVE

Yeah. They shouldn’t have an excuse for it on Next Gen. Their excuse was always they didn’t have enough memory.

    • ben wills

I hope they put it in the BASE GAME AND DON’T SCREW US OVER AND NOT MAKE IT PAY TO WIN…

  • why?

A lot of things are still limiting CoD with that engine.
That in-game camera, the fact that the camera is shown above your head which leads to head glitching, the fact that the rate of fire for your weapon is determined by the frames per second…

    • Its got the Frames per second available. Nothing beats 60.

    • Jarhead

I don’t know why people putting that much attention to 60 fps. People should be worried about what type of connection Ghosts is going to get. What is the purpose of 60 fps is you’re lagging anyways?

    • Yagermeister

You sir are absolutely right. I don’t know why people are giving you down votes. The in game camera is extremely stupid. It should be at eye level and not above the head. Which causes “head glitching” people. Which alot here still probably don’t get. Basically when you hide behind an object your camera or “view” is the top of your head which allows you to see people but when people see you it’s just a sliver of the top of your head. Yes connection is an issue but he is right about the rate of fire of a weapon when it is determined by the frames per second. Man people on this website are stupid sometimes.

    • PuddingAuxRais1ns

And how the in game camera is not fully attached to the character model and the fact that you shoot from the camera instead of the gun can lead to people shooting at you before you even see them. It’s sad that the highest selling game of all time seems to be functionally equivalent to a F2P shooter. Imagine CoD with id tech 5? Look at Rage for example. Even on consoles it has visuals that rival the likes of Crysis and Battlefield while running at 60 fps. And don’t compare Rage to CoD. No competition. I don’t see why it’s hard for IW/Treyarch to carry over that signature CoD feel to a more up-to-date and functional game engine.

  • What i want

I hope ghosts will have gun dlc for currunt gen.

    • david

Maybe just a next gen thing

    • TachyonicPack

      I highly doubt it!

      • Jarhead

You’re such a pessimistic person. LOL

        • Guest

No it will have for sure

          • Keshav Bhat

LOL, no one even said that. Don’t make up rumors, fake Batman.

      • Guest

        No

      • Guest

        No it will have

    • Guest

Ghosts will have, M$ confirmed, DLC comes first to Xbox 360 and one

      • Keshav Bhat

No one has confirmed Gun DLC.

        • Siftblade of Rivia

With newer technology and more memory, it’s expected. Especially since BO2 gave us a taste of it, but couldn’t make more because of limitations.

      • TachyonicPack

Activision said that the DLC will come first to the Xbox One.

  • NiftyGam3r

How was it memory limitations for mw3 but it was possible for bo2 😐

    • Siftblade of Rivia

Newer technology? Just like when your iPhone gets an update.

      • NiftyGam3r

Yeah but a dinamic map is not a technological leap, it has already existed within past games

        • Joseph

It is because the past engine could not handle it, features like this are determined by how efficient the engine is. For example frostbite or Rage engine are very efficient and ctg engine is very inefficient and shit (the reason saints row has ps2 graphics and fps issues). Point concludes that you sir are what we call an idiot.

          • NiftyGam3r

I was actually reading your view on this until the very end, let me make a correction, you stand alone at calling me an idiot. Takes one to know one.

        • Siftblade of Rivia

Past games didn’t have 60 FPS. Ex: Battlefield has 30.

    • jim

because the gun DLC for black ops was already locked on the disc when BO2 launched, thats why treyarch said there would only be one gun DLC

      • ^ Yep read what this guy said its true.

    • PuddingAuxRais1ns

I guess better optimization on Treyarch’s part.

  • sss

i am really excited for this multiplayer reveal

    • Alex | FamousIsLIVE

Me too, which is what scares me. I have gone into the last 2 CODs with high expectations which just end up not being met.

  • Adam

Thats bull. There are bunch of current gen games that have character customization and dynamic maps.

    • Epicsand

There are current-gen games that have dynamic maps, but most of them do not run at 60 fps, and he is saying that it is a fluke that this game will.

    • Jarhead

Yes. But the real question is- Is it running on 60 fps throughout the game?

    • Keshav Bhat

BF3 has some of that at 30FPS.

  • TachyonicPack

IW are just gonna dumb-down it for the current consoles. That’s why I’m not getting COD: Ghosts for the xbox 360 but if I’m getting a Xbox One then I’m pretty sure I’m gonna buy it.

    • Siftblade of Rivia

It’s still the same. COD Ghosts will be limited by the 360’s memory. The only difference in the next gen and current gen game will be stuff like more particles, better graphics, more interactive things (rattling fences) stuff like that. They can’t make the next gen game have 50 weapons and 20 maps and have the current gen game have 20 weapons and 10 maps. Otherwise, they’d be two separate games. I’m waiting for Treyarch’s next game. Hopefully it won’t be for current gen of consoles.

      • TachyonicPack

I know it’ll have the same maps and weapons but Xbox One, PS4, and PC will have all the cool things you mention. That’s why I prefer Next-Gen. I don’t want to paid the same price of $60 for a dumb-down version. I’m also pretty sure that Xbox One, PS4, and PC will get DLC weapons and MAYBE Xbox 360 and Ps3 will only get 1 DLC weapon and some Camo DLC.

  • Seeing that I’m getting the PS4 and I’m sure most of you are getting a next gen console as well, don’t you just want to say, screw the current gen. Obviously I want a fair and fun game for all and I don’t want to toss all those current gen people under the buss, but this kind of angers me that this game could be even better on next gen but they have to make it like current gen. Oh well, I’ll still have fun with it

    • TachyonicPack

Exactly! Why would I paid $60 for a dumb-down version? Same thing with Battlefield 4. Activision and EA are just MONEY WHORES!

    • NEON

Not everyone can fork out the money for a current gen console. Don’t be so selfish, when they have millions to cater for, just because a lot of people can afford it, doesn’t mean that everyone can.

      • Did you even read my comment? I was just joking. I really don’t care. I was just trying to bring out the funny side of a disappointing topic.

        • NEON

Oh, I thought you were serious, my apologies. Also, I think I may have just upvoted my own comment by accident, but here, have my upvote.

          • Well at least you didn’t respond back like a dick like I did. Sorry for that. It’s just that some of the people on this site don’t agree with your opinion and are rude about it

          • NEON

It’s alright haha, I know, It’s all opinions here, I just wanted to state my opinion, but if you believe that it should be just for Next Gen, then I can’t stop you from wanting that

  • MeisseN

So many downvotes -.- Not only for this artical’s comments but for all recent articles. Who just broke with his girl?!

  • Alec Tackett

I am going with BF4 but if the MP is good on Ghosts I will get it but if you want gun DLC get BF4 look how many guns are in BF3 from DLC.

  • Camo

Welcome to the end of the current generation consoles :’)
i had a very great time with my playstation.

  • Phaggot.

As much as I hate to admit it. I doubt this Cods going to be that great. Hear me out first before you start spazzing. This Cod is not going to be using the full capabilities of NEXT GEN consoles. Due to the fact that its a Current Gen game that is also coming out on next gen. So the biggest difference for getting on next gen is the Graphics. But THE NEXT Cod game, will be mainly(and hopefully only) Next-GEN. So Treyarc starts using the full potential of next gen so they could add better features.

  • Kurama The Nine-Tailed Fox

Why am I more excited for BO3 than Ghosts? :S

  • dave

How about they stop with taking all our money on the DLC.. like we are paying a quarter of the price every other month.. Like just give us everything at once for goodness sake
