Infinity Ward revealed Ghosts MP on August 14th, and they revealed some big changes to how perks will work within multiplayer.

In previous Call of Duty games, perks were divided based upon tiers – Tier 1, 2, and 3. Each of the perks within the tiers were based upon their usefulness. You could chose one perk from each tier (or 2 in each in Black Ops 2), and that’s it. You couldn’t alter the selection anymore then that.

With Call of Duty: Ghosts, Infinity Ward has added the ability for players to fully customize what perks they want. There isn’t any tiers anymore. They’ve added 7 sections in which the divided the perk based upon their abilities.

  • Speed – Examples include Sleight of Hand and Agility allowing players to quickly move through the environment.
  • Handling – Improve the player’s weapon handling abilities with perks such as On The Go (reload while sprinting) and Strong Arm (throw equipment further and decrease grenade cook time).
  • Stealth – Perks such as Takedown (kill enemies without revealing their death location) and Off the Grid allow players to move through the environment undetected.
  • Awareness – Improve a player’s situational awareness and ability to detect enemy equipment.
  • Resistance – Enhance a player’s ability to withstand damage and regenerate health faster.
  • Equipment – Perks that allow players to hold extra equipment, attachments and ammunition.
  • Elite – A new type of player perk that includes Ping (a sonar ping that’s activated upon killing an enemy, revealing nearby hostiles) and Deadeye (consecutive kills increase the chance to deal more bullet damage).

And, they’ve also changed how we select perks.

In Ghosts, you get 8 allocation points for Perks only. You can chose whichever you want – you can’t 8 exceed points. Each perk has its own value, ranging from 1-5. If you take off your secondary and lethal/tactical, you can get up to 11 points for perks. This enables a broader range of customization than any Call of Duty game before.

This new perk system seems like it’ll redefine how perks work within Call of Duty multiplayer.

Here’s an image of some of the perks that will be in the game (via Reddit):

What do you think about this new perk system in Ghosts MP?

It all looks swell, but since I see ghost the perk, and it only being 2 points looks like a problem, they should make it like 4 points

    • Emrah Avvurur

Ghost is not what you mean, you mean off the grid, ghost acts pretty much like cold-blooded

  • ip x Warrior

Dead Eye and Danger Close will fuck up this AWESOME game ..

    • Young Hernz

agree, we want perks that make are solider faster, be silent and avoid SATCOM, better handling , resisted by other tactical and equipment, and holding extra ammo and attachment, not making are gun and explosive more powerful like they did in Modern Warfare 2, it would be damn nice if Infinity Ward got are feedback and nerf or drop of those two nooby perks

      • ip x Warrior

        They probably won’t ..

      • Zpr4y

Take it easy XD! It Cost 5 points!! And they dont get more hp! A sniper can FUCK him up! And you always got the blast sheild if someone is screwing you with danger close! Tested blast sheild on MW2, 2 days ago, and it was pretty effective and is even more in BO2 and MW3 so dont worry blast sheild will get nerfed if too much extra dmg or blast sheild buffed or both are already balanced

    • jooker-jr

      Maybe not !!

We have to wait and see

But it looks like they well unbalance the game

      • Young Hernz

I agree, since Deadeye cost 5 point while danger close cost 3 points, we don’t know if gonna be useful or not

        • jooker-jr

          Yea

Also all the Resistance perks cost 2 points

          • Zpr4y

VERY true! Buy the blast sheild and grenades and such dont dmg much and you are pretty much “more” safe!
And deadye Cost alot! And if it’s a bit good in the beginning it will probably get nerfrd

    • Batman

No. They will save this game, I love extra damage perks

      • Young Hernz

dude these perks are unbalance and and where made for 10 year olds, tryhards and noob that only plays TDM and don’t know how to play to CoD well

    • Kyle PDX

I agree with danger close but they will hopefully fix that. Dead eye on the other hand is 5 point ur only allowed to have 8 thats a major blow to your perk slot that is how it is balanced.

      • Young Hernz

agreed, image having Danger close and DeadEye, those perks would be a total waste slot, good thing Infinity Ward made Daedeye 5 points, I could image Danger close coast 4 points

    • Mark

i dont think thats danger close, it couldnt be. It has to be just for grenades

    • Nick

I’m confident they won’t screw up again, they all remember how it ruined mw2 so I highly doubt its as powerful as it was before, in addition its 3 points, which is actually a pretty good amount

  • Gayarch,fartivision

Ace one is wrong ace perk gives u one random perk every time u respawn

  • Jarhead

Martyrdom and Dead man’s hand will be fucking awesome too! Oh wait…

  • iSwedishVirus

Don’t like it tbh, i liked the Pick 10 system in Bo2 more…however i haven’t played Ghosts yet so maybe i just have to get used to it 🙂 And i don’t like how they removed Wildcards :/

    • Ed

wildcards were a waste. i like this system where you just have a pool of perks, and you pick what you want, instead of wildcards. this is what i said after the pick 10 intitially came out. get rid of the tiers and the wildcards and make the classes truly customizable.

  • Sal

Quick draw and dexterity should be switched.

    • Sal

It’s wrong is what I meant to say, lol. Just a heads up, plus Ace is wrong as well.

  • Mitch

I don’t like Danger Close and Dead Eye, and I’m also worried 4 attachments might be a bit OP, especially weapons like the honey badger who have an integrated Silencer.

    • Thoughtful Discourse

I don’t know if it will be OP or not but as a person that has always wanted more attachments on my gun I like it. When you think about it the number of attachments has always been arbitrary. I mean why 2 or why 3 when in other games you can use more or in real life you can basically do whatever you want. I like the added freedom we’ll just have to see how its balanced.

  • Chris Ilott

The perks that will probably ruin this game ATM: Wiretap, Painkiller, Danger Close, Ping, Deadeye. Also CharlieIntel, how can you put unknown next to Steady Aim? We know what that’ll do. How’s painkiller only 2 points? That’s what everybody complained about in MW2. Also, +1 attachment will mean Honey Badge effectively have 5 attachments?

    • Jose Martin Gonzalez

this is painkiller is faster health regen, not extra health

    • Young Hernz

Deadeye and Danger Close are the only two perk are gonna messed up the game due of increased damage their putting, and also Painkiller is different is not like Juggernaut perk or Painkiller deathstreak from MW2, it make regenerates you health faster

    • Zpr4y

Painkiller isn’t what it was it’s remade

    • BSOG

The “Painkiller” icon may just be a placeholder, but then again, it may be too late to change it this far into development.

  • Guest

Here is a list all perk with there exact description 🙂

    • Guest

      Sorry for the task bar..

    • Michael

      You use Internet Explorer? :O

    • fagit

As much as I love unlimited sprint, it’s too op

  • Thoughtful Discourse

The one thing I have my eye on when it comes to perks is will it feel like you have left something off the table that you need. Basically all they did is take away pro perks and make them all equal. The problem with this is now you lose something you are used to. For example I got used to not having my name show up as a bonus of using ghost or no fall damage as a product of lightwight (I think I don’t remember MW3 so much anymore). Now losing those bonuses I wonder if I’m going to feel incomplete going into games. Only time will tell.

  • cod bro

Why is everyone complaining I know perks have broken other games but I for one like the way things are set up.there is no super OP perk on this game .there’s just some better perks .but at least there’s a variety and I think the amount of points it takes for perks is reasonable.I mean ghost won’t be bad because of the sat com system and danger close will probably make explosion just slightly wider.marksman is a damn gamble perk.so what’s the big deal here?

    • cod bro

      I mean off the grid

  • Ed

    wiretap will be awesome.

  • James K

I don’t know who are the geniuses who thought it was a good idea to bring Danger Close or Recon back.

If Danger Close is affects explosive minimum range then it’s acceptable.

    • JobAlp

Recon will only point the enemies on the minimap through explosive damage.

      • Zpr4y

        Good

      • James K

I don’t know if the 9-bang can be air-burst. if possible, then the blast radius is huge.

  • dungbeetle

Deadeye? Really? The time it took to get rid of perks that either enhance resistance to bullets or increase bullet damage making them ‘must use’ perks, and now this. This is a step backwards IMO. Can you imagine spawn trapping while equipped with Deadeye? Good grief.

    • dungbeetle

Anyone remember CoD4 juggernaut vs stopping power? Geez!

      • Batman

I love those types of perks

  • TheeSynthesis

Which one is the new one top or bottom

  • Jacky Liang

Marathon Pro is confirmed unlimited sprint, no?

  • Mr.Potter

    According to Drift0r on Reddit…

“Deadeye is a randomized stopping power, but less random as you kill.

0 kills = no stopping power 1 kills = 10% change of a bullet doing extra damage 2 kills = 20% … 10 kills = your gun is way too damn strong”

    Huh.

    • Young Hernz

      true
I hope Infinity Ward nerfed that nooby perk

    • Ed

but the tradeoff is you will have less choices, being as it costs like 5 points and a good amount of people can’t get a bunch of consecutive kills.

    • Zpr4y

Heard somewhere it was like 5-10-15-25-30-35-50 and capped at 80%

  • Mike

A pretty good amount of the perk descriptions in that picture are incorrect.

    • You are very correct. Though Keshav should know this. I emailed him a bunch of in game pics of the perks

  • Oriole5

Very happy with this change. I felt like the pick 10 system was a step in the right direction but I love this even more

  • Rising Clan

This is incorrect. Gambler does not allow you to re-roll care packages. Gambler gives you a random perk at the beginning of each match. Candice of Infinity Ward confirmed this.

  • Batman

Specialist bonus: You get all perks = YOU BECOME BATMAN!!

I think there is no moab, since it would be really easy to get

  • Big Pow

Well…….here goes another f**ked up call of duty!

  • Jose Martin Gonzalez

I really hope ghosts danger close isn`t mw2 danger close. To the people complaining about deadeye, it costs 5 points, which is a lot, so that seems balanced

  •

they only added the OP perks because:
    1. mw2 has op shit and is fun because of it

    2. they needed more perks to give each type 5 options (OCD)
    3. its funny to watch people whine
    4. the ghost of mw2 demands it

  • Kyle PDX

i love the new system they all look balanced and i love how there is 35 to pic from and how some are perks from older games or at least have the same name. The only thing i am now worried about in the whole game are launchers paired with danger close. Blast shield only balances lethal grenades like c4, frag grenades etc. launchers and noob toobs could be serious problem if IW does not do something.

  • Zpr4y

WHY are like 80% complaining about the 2 same perks!!!! If they are OP they get nerfed! It’s easy to counter with Blast sheild and deadye Cost 5 points!! Just look at it! WE HAVE NEVER had this many perks to choose from! This is AWESOME! I didnt want danger close back but i could counter it in MW2 and i can counter it in Ghosts!

  • Deadeye is a must. Hopefully its not OP in the game though.

  • Thatguy

It says all perks for specialist…… OP SPECIALIST im using it lol every single perk you cant die 😀

    • Ed

one of the devs (candyslexia) said on the cod forums that it wasn’t all perks for the specialist bonus.

  • Quick Update on some of the Perks: Marathon is unlimited Sprint, the last perk in the handling category is actually Quickdraw. There’s obviously more that I haven’t said, but those are some that people always get wrong. I have pictures of a lot of the perks from in game videos. If you wish to see them send me a message on twitter (ImDiabetus)

    • Ed

that’s really suprising that they went back to unlimited sprint. i loved it in capture the flag… and the new game modes may be directly responsible. i honestly thought i’d never see that again.

  • Nikau Halley

Wiretap should not be a perk

  • Ryan

I’m a bit confused why bandolier and scavenger are both worth 2 points shouldn’t bandolier be worth less?

  • BSOG

I wanted Pro Perks this time ’round. Oh well.

  • subtekjr

That picture is HORRIBLY wrong. Gambler is a random perk upon spawning, it’s Dexterity, not quickdraw, it’s Reflex, not fast Hands, it’s Quickdraw, not Dexterity in Handling, Cold Blooded, not Ghost, Eavesdrop, not Awareness, Resilience not Lightweight, Toughness is Stopper, you only get 3 attachments not 4. It’s outdated as f***, and Marathon is back to unlimited sprint.

    • Plokijuh1229

Well this is an old post. I made the list myself like a month ago. There’s a new one on Reddit now.
