UPDATE: Walmart in the US has now opened up preorders for the digital combo. They are the first retailer to do so.

The Xbox Ahead Program, announced for Call of Duty: Ghosts, is now available for preorder at Amazon UK. This ahead program offers a disc-less dual license which entitles you to the Xbox 360 and Xbox One digital version of the game for $69.99 or £60.99. The item will release on November 5th. On that day you will be able to download the Xbox 360 version, and then on Nov. 22nd you will be available to download the Xbox One version.

Preorder now here. (Thanks @LiamFTWinter)

  1. So wait if you buy this, you can download it on xbox 360 gone 12.01am?
If so im happy with paying extra 20 dolalrs just for the fact i dont want to stand outside in the cold for 10 hours.

    • If you buy the Digital download, you get the advanage of being able to download the Next gen version for $10 (as if you wait in line to buy it at midnight, you have to turn in the old one to upgrade).

Retail is $59.99 for this game, so if you buy it on the 360, Ps3 or in a retail store, it’s the same price. The only flaw is the time to download.

Microsoft DID say in the Ghosts annoucement that the game will be able to download the day of release BUT, I have been pinging Activision and Xbox support on Twitter and facebook, never mind both websites. NO ONE WILL CONFIRM that it will be availabilabe for download on release day (as 12:01am on release day)

        • True, I have walked into 2 gamestops and called 3 more, 4 of them talked to me like I had 4 heads (never heard of it) and ONE heard of it but, could not find anything in his system to order it.
So, where in the US can I order this… at least will I be able to buy it on release day on my 360 then pay the $10 upgrade when I get my xbox one ?

  2. Hang on, £60? I can buy it for £45 on the PS Store and upgrade for £10 when I get my PS4, or I can go to my local GAME and do exactly the same. What’s going on with their pricing?

  3. this is truly pathetic, the game download is going to be above 50gb with current UK broadband bandwidths and speed so slow that most people 4G phones ran a faster speed thos as much use as a chocolate teapot ! does anyone agree ?

  4. To answer those that wonder why someone would do this or have stated you can just do the same at your local retailer…. this is BOTH the Xbox 360 and Xbox One licenses. No trade in. No losing XB360 version. Great for folks that have friends not upgrading to Xbox One yet while you may want to and want to play/try on both.

  5. According to the UK page, this is not the dual licence, this is just the seamless upgrade…Read the fine print… Once you upgrade to the Xbox One version, you lose your 360 licence.
From the bottom of the page…

    Please note:

This is not a boxed game – it is a box containing a digital download code

Once you upgrade from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, you will no longer be able to
play Call of Duty: Ghosts on Xbox 360.

    • Indeed saw this and thought how pointless it was. might as well buy 2 physical copies and get resale value and be able to access both games all the time…

    • I’ve asked Amazon about this since the official FAQ from Activision clearly states that you retain BOTH licences, which of course is necessary unless all your friends are upgrading to Xbox One together. They said they are looking into it and will get back to me in the next few days. I’m guessing Amazon just made the assumption and added that to stop people complaining.

  6. Amazon service should be sorry for last 3 bad shopping experiences.. In one, item delivered was broken and had deal with their help-desk to return it back.. In my last shopping experience, they claim that item (Order 404-4524779-1660327) was delivered, even though I didn’t receive it.. Delivery is made to someone “Noor Ahmaed”. I filed claim multiple times, but every time it has been turned down.. Very very disappointing..
