When Activision revealed that Sledgehammer Games was working on Call of Duty 2014, they stated that this years game will be a “next gen first game,” meaning PS4/Xbox One get priority development and features by SHGames.

A new rumor coming today suggests High Moon Studios could be working on the PS3/360 version of CoD 2014. A job listing for High Moon Studios says that the studio is working on a high profile FPS for the 360 & PS3.

    Dead pool and COD

  • LikeaSomeboday

Does High Moon make good games?

    • Mitch

They probably won’t ‘make’ it, but just port it, similar to TitanFall on the 360.

      • LikeaSomeboday

        Does ‘porting’, damage the game?

        • Mitch

          If done right, it shouldn’t.

        • fires

If done good, nope, if done poorly, you might get something small like watered textures, or even a completely different game.

      • kyr95

Still that means that SHG are working exclusively on the next gen “version” of the game, and that is very pleasing 😉

        • Mitch

Yup, now lets how for a next-gen engine!

          • kyr95

Since SHG is working 3 years for this, anything is possible, even a new engine 🙂

          • Mitch

True, but since this is their first game they are making by themselves and their old studio worked on 3rd person action adventure games (Dead Space), we have to wait.
Making a 3rd person action adventure CoD is even the reason they joined the list of CoD developers in the first place.

          • kyr95

True, but to tell you the truth graphics is the least i care about. Bring me some nice singleplayer (which is why i love Cod the most, being able to offer as a unique storyline almost every year+multiplayer) and good gameplay feel, and im good 🙂

          • Mitch

True, but an engine doesn’t only make the graphics, but also more and bigger content (The Ghosts engine has problems with Stonehaven on next-gen), sound etc, basically everything. Also look at the Ghosts engine: it can’t run the Xbox One version at all on 1080p/60FPS, and the PS4 version has problems with framedrops while being at 1080p/60FPS, and that all while the game looks really poor compared to other games! The current engine isn’t only outdated in graphics, but basically in everything.

          • kyr95

            You’ve got a point in that 😉

          • kyr95

They might have upgraded the current engine or made a new one ( which is very difficult to say the truth). Think about it, the report that the graphics in cod2014 are improved greatly over ghosts is a sign, and also from their job listing i can guess that sledgehammer is planning something big 😉

          • Mitch

I hope they wont upgrade it, but make a new one. They upgrade the engine every year, and their advances are close to 0.

          • kyr95

Well, only time will tell but we have to consider that making a brand new engine is more difficult than it sounds.

          • Mitch

It is, but they got an extra year. And with the thousands of employees Activision has under it’s shit ton of studios, it shouldn’t be a problem. Hell, why not even borrow an engine, like Destiny’s?

          • kyr95

The fact that they had 3 years makes me very confident that theyre making a new engine 😉

          • 111AlaN111

I heard that SH said that they will improve graphics farther than what’s seen in Ghosts

          • MichiganerE

They could be using the Destiny engine.

  • HenryDF

Good news for people who own an X1/PS4 – you’re gonna be getting a real next-gen game.

    • Mitch

      Hopefully!

    • MichiganerE

      YES!

    • epicninja3

      YAY!

  • Ryumoau

i hope this is true. If so, then it really does mean Sledgehammer put all effort on next gen and Activision decided to just get another studio to handle the ps3/360 port. This has me really excited for the ps4 version now! 😀

    • kyr95

If they manage to make the pc port as good as those-unlike ghosts- then i will be very very happy 😀

      • Mitch

CoD really should attack the PC market. PC is a great platform for First Person Shooters, but for some reason they don’t really care about that.

        • kyr95

Thats exactly how i feel man!!! If Cod manages that there’s no stopping it.

        • Josh

Yes, PC may have better specs but it lacks the number of players consoles have and for this reason they don’t take priority.

          • TheShadowReaper

yeah, but they tend to forget their roots. if it wasnt for us PC guys back in the day playing COD1 and COD2 i doubt that the franchise would have been what it is now. and plz dont tell me that COD2 launched on Xbox360 too. its sales werent anything spectacular to mention.

          • Tayler Hammond

I remember back in the day when Blockbuster was still in existence. CoD3 was NEVER in stock for the xbox or playstation whenever I went there to rent a game. It’s gotten more popular on consoles than pc.

          • Josh

Consoles are technically Computers anyway. But if they used PC they would be able to properly utilise them and make games that are even too powerful for PS4/XB1. These games would be literally amazing.

          • TheShadowReaper

ehh? really? with that logic, technically speaking ofc, a cup of tea is one and the same with a baseball bat, technically speaking ofc! come on dude, you sound ridiculous.

well the XboxOne and PS4 are indeed closer to a PC than their predecestors with slight difference in peripherals and software they use. but still they’re not that close.

          • Josh

Peripherals have nothing to do with the internal components of a PC so I don’t understand why you have mentioned them? They do not effect the power of the system in anyway.

          • TheShadowReaper

yes they do. its not one and the same to make a game for a bunch of buttons and a couple joysticks and make the same game based on a mouse and keyboard. the options you have in the mouse and keyboard are like 10 times more and will bring you a better experience overall. worst thing is when console ports do not include rebindable keys on the PC then they wonder why their game wont sell on PC. you get it now? everything has to do when comparing systems. its not just about raw power. else someone could have build a powerhouse that little to a few PCs can compare with, slap a price on it and sell it to ya. even though a PC is about raw power, there are some points that make it a better choice than a console even when not comparing power levels. but it comes down to this point…consoles will never be a PC. not even in the slightest. they’re PC wannabes, always been.

          • Josh

Yes, you may have more options with mouse and keyboard than a controller but that does not effect the performance of the system only the way you play. You may technically have a faster reaction with a keyboard as it is only an input device whereas controllers are input/output devices but they all go through the I/O controller to connect to the CPU. With all that it still does not effect the performance of the system only the reaction time the game will be able to recognise you pressing a button.

          • Josh

I am aware that the consoles will never reach the same level as PC but for a normal person a console is the safest option they are relatively simple to use and if everyone else has them they are just going to go with everyone else. They don’t need to worry if they have enough RAM or memory to store game game data because all console games are built taking into account the specs of the systems.

          • TheShadowReaper

yes. it has nothing to do with performance, but if we talk about performance a PC is better though. but it improves the overall experience of a game.

it still wows me that they can make games for only 20 inputs on a controller (or 22 if you count start and share button on PS4). instead of making marvel games with no limits, they instead make marvel games with such limits. if only the limit wasnt there, think of the possibilities. but i’ll admit that consoles controllers are somewhat better for platforming, sports games and racing games. although i’m not so sure about platforming, it depends on the gameplay, the choice of the inputs and how they work.

          • ^DELUSIONAL^

No it only improves the experience of a game in a few ways. There are lots of hackers on PC and lots of people have to buy more RAM etc while consoles come with every thing you need, this is why most people but consoles because it is the more simple option

          • TheShadowReaper

not really, not anymore. most games are through Steam and VAC detects a lot of hackers every day in many games. + some games have already good anti-cheat systems that are well implimented.

as for RAM on a PC, 8 GBs are more than enough for a strong system and they are affordable to pretty much everyone that plays games on PC. you can ofc go higher but it makes no difference. once you have 60+ frames on 1080p and maxed out settings you’re getting the full experience. so you dont need to go so deep to obtain that anymore. it was pricey once upon a time but this time has changed. PC gaming is more approachable than ever and it will continue to become even better from now on.

as for what system you play the only thing that justifies a purchase of a console is exclusive games, that i can fully accept. as for the rest reasons, they pretty much are money and how you want to spend them.

          • Randomguy

the XboxOne and PS4 are very close to the PC, the biggest difference is the operating system and some hardware, but technically speaking they’re almost exactly the same

          • TheShadowReaper

but thats only valid if we are talking about the XboxOne and the PS4, not the any other console in existence. even the WiiU being a gen8 console is not close to a PC at all! its completely different in the way it operates and the hardware it uses to operate. hell, even the XB1 and PS4 are a PC for about 80% of their philosophy.

          • 111AlaN111

In my opinion, the problem of PCs is that there is more piracy in them than in a console, that’s why some games are going only to consoles

    • Rorke File

don’t care if is next gen or with great graphics , the game has to be fun and good for a year ……

    • Plok

Even though I’m a Playstation guy who owns a PS4, I honestly hope that the game has better optimization reaching 900p at least on Xbone and no framerate issues on PS4..

  • Poop

yay! next gen only for sledgehammer.

  • Poop

Does this mean next gen only zombies next year?

    • Josh

When you say “next year” do you mean COD 2014. If you do there will not be zombies as SHG is making the next COD. 2015 is when we’ll get new zombies.

      • Poop

do you not know what year it is? next year is 2015

        • Josh

No I don’t….. When someone says next year they usually mean the next game to come out. Like at school a child may say “I’m going to be in year 9 next year” when they mean in September not actually January of the next year.

          • Poop

            well i meant treyarchs cod

    • fires

No, xbox stated 360 support until 2016, so expect itll be around until then.

      • 111AlaN111

But PS3 is supported until 2015, so I think that next-gen will be ruling.

  • CoDforever

False. they’re making a Deadpool FPS or Transformers FPS

    • Mitch

      Only for last gen?

    • HenryDF

Activision’s licence with Marvel ended at the start of the year, and there’s already a Transformers game that’s about to be released. So idk… :/

    • Siftblade of Rivia

Deadpool FPS? What a shit show that would be.

  • LikeaSomeboday

Found out it was actually a Deapool FPS whatever that is.

    • HenryDF

Impossible, Activision’s licence with Marvel ending at the start of this year.

  • CoDforever

They could be porting Destiny or making their own game ..

    • Keshav Bhat

Destiny is being made by Bungie for all 4 platforms, that is confirmed.

      • CoDforever

Yea but the Job listing says “Developing” which doesnt seem like a port ..

  • jordanxbrookes

    #COD2014

  • DeadPoolgaming

I hope that it will not be like cod world at war final fronts for PS2.Treyarch made waw for ps3/xbox360 and PC but another company made it for ps2 and it was a shit.

  • gumbie7

Not really holding my breath for SH games to give us a good CoD. I think the next Treyarch installment is going to be freaking AWESOME. Hopefully they can work out all the bugs that BO2 had (hit detection & lag being the worst). They have quite a lot of time, I really hope they get it right.

    • DEEERRRRPPIDO

and lets hope that treyarch and SH acually do shit to help stop the camping, like good small/medium maps and less camping tools.

    • fires

both being because of the new gamemodes, and theater. They have to do what ghosts had done and just remove some of the more unpopular gamemodes and remove theater, or at least, tweak theater to not hinder latency as much

      • ^DELUSIONAL^

I would rather have theater and risk more lag I felt the black ops 2 connection was good

    • Plok

Well I think the game will either be a huge success or completely fail. A third studio means that people might not make boneheaded decisions that 3arc and IW have made over the past few years. Or they could have no idea how to do anything right.

    • 111AlaN111

I think SH is going to make a great COD. SH is just starting and they will try hard to make the game awesome to prove us or Activision that they’re a good studio

  • John

I hope it’s true! Because SH will put all the effort on next-gen!

  • boldcyclonus

High moon use to make the transformers game series

  • Guest

Yay more COD being held back by old gen, just what I wanted.

    • Jkice

It isn`t being held back. Thats why Activision hired another studio to port to last gen(I assume they hired another studio).

    • Mitch

The point of having an other studio doing the PS3 and X360 versions is to not have the game held back by last-gen…

      • fires

Better not be like a shitty port, if ANY of you have seen Transformers 2 on ps3/xbox360, compared to ps2/wii, you will know the amount of shit.

  • Jethro

    F in Awesome!!!! LD

  • I’m just glad the next COD focuses on next gen

  • sb

Hopefully Sledgehammer can turn this series around. I was bummed 3arc wasn’t doing this years, but this is good news.

On a side note. Got banned yesterday from the Call of Duty forums because I wanted to know when they were going to fix the extreme lag from the last patch. F’ing Nazis.

    • MichiganerE

Who banned you? The fanboys or developers?

      • sb

Prolly one of the moderators. They get all butt hurt and can’t accept the fact that this game is a giant problem.

        • MichiganerE

That’s what happens when you’re a fanboy, you get blinded by what’s false.

  • iAmEFFeX

This is the most exciting CoD news in a long time. I really wished that Ghosts would be the first “true” next gen CoD, but I guess it was too soon for that. I’m really glad that Sledgehammer is putting all their attention on PS4 and XBox One. Hopefully we get a fresh experience.

  • 111AlaN111

Why would a studio start looking for employees? SH is doing it too. I don’t believe they are making COD in some months. I think Activision is trolling us and the COD of this year is Treyarch’s

  • abhi

yes high moon studios is developing for ps3 and xbox 360..and lot of work is happening …i know this coz lot of asset work is done technicolor studio ,bangalore branch india…

  • IF U A NIGGER I REK UR SHT KID

    high moon = high hopes
    dont be a nigger

  • CypZxR

They may help Sledgehammer for call of duty

  • brutedawg

if this is true, im fucking sorry, but the lack of experience among both developers and the trending drop in popularity of call of duty (compared to MW/MW2) leads me to believe ATVI is simply using the franchise as a cash cow. to the naysayers, just be realistic and open your eyes. don’t get me wrong, i love me some good call of duty, but i don’t love being fucked out of money and time with some full-priced 60% effort pile of broken garbage that can be patched/balanced/DLC’ed out the ass for the duration of its shelf-life..

  • GinsuVictim

I’m sure the 360 version will still be good. I knew we wouldn’t be left without a CoD this fall. 🙂

  • George

I don’t know about this… At least Treyarch will probably still be doing the porting to Wii U.

    • Guest

Treyarch has nothing to do with this.

      • Jordan Moss

No, actually Treyarch are usually the studio who ports the game to Wii/Wii U

        • George

          not usually, always

  • Danyal_347

this is probably true as when you go to check the black ops 2 ps3 forums now is say http://www.highmoonstudios.com

  • FUCKYOU

    Fuck COD.

  • billybob

i HOPE THIS IS TRUE.. i would like to see a dedicated game for xb1/ps4 and not have half ass job bcus they have to make it for ps3/xbox 360 aswell
    this is good news
