GameInformer has posted a new interview SHGames’s Co-Founders Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey about imagining the futuristic setting of Advanced Warfare.

With Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Sledgehammer Games is branching out from its predecessors and creating an entirely new universe for the series. Studio heads Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey wanted to create a futuristic world set in the year 2054, but one that can’t be described as “sci-fi”. We spoke with Schofield and Condrey about the challenges of creating a vision of the future from scratch and what it means for the Call of Duty franchise.

UPDATE:  In the interview, at the last few minutes, Glen also talks about the possibility of an Advanced Warfare 2 and what they future may hold. He said that he’s always thinking about what’s next, and that they are leaving the game’s story and world in a certain way that will allow the possibilities of another Advanced Warfare game. They reassured fans that as of now, the team is fully focused on developing a complete game with Advanced Warfare and that the team is still working on the current title only.

Here’s what Glen said:

I’ve thought about it..I almost have too. I have to think about the ending of the game all the time and what happens…and I can’t just have the world go away. There definietly has to be some thinking of not ruining the story and everything or the world. So, we’re keeping it in a place where another game could exist.

Great Interview, love these guys 😀

    • Ryumoau

      same here 🙂

  • Siftblade of Rivia

This calms most people’s fears about AW. Futuristic, but not quite sci-fi. This is how I think it should be.

    • jordanxbrookes

Basically similar to Black Ops 2.

      • Siftblade of Rivia

Indeed. I see some great potential and innovation they could incorporate into the MP without turning the game into a sci-fi, hopefully SH sees them too.

      • RdJokr

But more advanced than Black Ops II. Hence, ADVANCED Warfare. Hurr durr.

    • The Pedo

I will put you in a dress and spank you.

      • Siftblade of Rivia

I would like a blue dress, it looks good with my eyes.

        • The Pedo

Blue dress it is. Dat ass is going to be as a cherry.

          • RileyWoofimposter

Your ass is going to be the one that gets pounded after I assassinate RileyWoof.

    • MichiganerE

Your profile pics only get more disturbing…

      • Siftblade of Rivia

Lol I just wasn’t feeling the last one.

        • James K

          Don’t take my money…

    • ccrows

Don’t care if they label it “Future” or “Sci-Fi”.

Just as long as the Cloaking, Wall Climbing, and Jump Boosts stay in the Campaign (and not MP) I’ll be happy.

Otherwise AW will be short lived for me, and will be another year of BO2 and Ghosts…

      • Siftblade of Rivia

I doubt they’d be in MP. If you listened to the interview, they said that they tried to stay somewhat realistic. They also said that they can’t please everyone (I’m assuming they mean the people who do want a sci-fi game), and that they will do it how they envisioned it. But he stressed that they tried to stay away from sci-fi. Sci-fi is not future. The labeling does matter. Sci-fi is like humanoid robots, aliens, etc. I assume turning invisible and climbing on walls will be considered sci-fi. They said they tried to stay as realistic as possible to what could actually happen in the future, and I’m pretty sure turning invisible is a ways away. I never found it likely that those features will be implemented in the first place, and this interview basically backs me up, but we’ll see. Maybe E3 could clear some things up.

  • kyr95

Great interview once again! This game is gonna be different in a good way, i have a feeling. How can you not like these guys? They’re awesome! 😀

  • UnderDeanAmbrose’sSpell

Fun Fact : Both are homosexual.

    • MichiganerE

Really? I have nothing against homosexuals, but still, where’s you get this info from?

      • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

        They’re not lmao he’s trolling.

        • MichiganerE

          Ahh.

    • Ryumoau

      wait…what?

    • jooker-jr

      So ?

  • VVFZ

    Wow…

    • iTYPE 2 ANNOY U

If you’re actually sold this easy, you are a mindless idiot.

  • Michael

The thing that I like about these 2 guys is that they seem very chill people. They understand what we want as consumers to have a great experience in cod. It kinda clears up that some advanced stuff will be “nerfed” in multilayer. Like what they said about the exoskeletons. They don’t wanna go too much into the advancements in the exosuits, just the basic stuff about it.

    • kyr95

Coulnt have said it better. These guys look so cool, you can really look at them and say ” they are fans of this franchise, and they want to deliver what we ,as fans too, want from it”

  • TheShadowReaper

Schofield is the guy that you would sit down a sofa, drink beer, eat pizza, watch a football game and have good laughs with. Condrey is cool too. great lead developer duo.

    • kyr95

Schofield looks like my dad haha 😛

      • TheShadowReaper

lel, fun fact of da day

        • kyr95

Haha sorry i had to xD

  • Mitch

Understandable, but I hope the ending could be used as an actual ending to the story, not like Ghosts which screamed ”Ghosts 2 is coming” into your face at the end.

    • kyr95

Im pretty sure that Schofield means what you say, if they had put a cliffhanger ending, they would have already had plans for a sequel.

    • MisterCMC

Don’t even talk to me about the ending of Ghosts.

    • Ryumoau

i agree. It should be how Black Ops 1 and 2 worked. The first game was a complete story and Blops 2 just expanded on it in the future.

      • MR_WATSiT2YA

Yeah but BO1 and BO2 had terrible campaigns. Especially BO1(and BO2)

        • RdJokr

That’s your opinion. I enjoyed the hell out of the BO series, way more than MW.

          • Ryumoau

            agreed 🙂

      • ben wills

*Blops 2 retconned it and had zero consistency in the characters from blops 1.

But yes, BO1 is how it should work… just not BO2.

        I’d say CoD 4 –> MW2 did it perfectly

  • Psychomaggot105

I wouldn’t mind another waw cod again in the near future. Incorporate the new things they’ve been doing.

  • Plok

Hahaha twizzler part had me laughing pretty hard.

    • Ascending Legend

      I….am profffezor eggsavier!

  • Ryumoau

That was a great long interview. Both guys felt very down to earth. I just hope that the ending of this game doesn’t have a lame cliffhanger like Ghosts. I want this game to feel self contained and then if they make a sequel, just start a new story in the same universe. Kinda like How Black Ops 1 felt complete and the sequel just added a new adventure in that world.

    • kyr95

Judging by the interview, thats exactly what they’ve done, making an ending like Black ops 1. They cant have putten a cliffhanger ending since they dont even know if they want to make a sequel for AW, so they will leave the possibility for another story but in the same universe.

  • Wraith

I swear, the Ghosts campaign was bad, but that final minute that sets up a sequel right at the end made the campaign twice as bad.

  • jooker-jr

They know what the fans want but can they deliver ?

  • TheGamerBeast

i got the game already i wasn’t planning on getting it cz ghosts was disgusting but i feel like they can deliver something good, and another thing that i love kevin spacey so i will buy the game anyway so i did but am not planning on buying any Season passes again like ghosts season pass the only thing i regret till now

and it is all my own opinion
and i hope the MP gonna be great
