Activision’s big push, officially, into Chinese market is with Call of Duty Online. Call of Duty, thanks to piracy, is in high demand across China. Activision saw this opportunity and is working with China’s publisher, Tencent, to bring Call of Duty Online exclusively to China.

“If you look at other [Western game companies], they’ve tried to come into the Chinese market and it’s been difficult,” Daniel Suarez, the vice president of production for the Call of Duty franchise, said during a presentation at E3. “I think they’re under the assumption, ‘I’m going to take my game, I’ll bring it over, and people will engage with it because the graphics are good,’ and everything else.”

“Call of Duty is a known and established brand in China — through piracy, it’s become this well established and known franchise. So I think Tencent sees that opportunity and they have wanted to partner with us.”

Activision plans to make the Call of Duty Online beta open by the end of this year, but has to make sure it get’s every aspect right. The game has been in closed beta, in two different sessions, with a third session set to start this summer.

Raven Software has taken over as the Lead Developer on this title. Call of Duty Online for China started off with assets from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, MW2, and Black Ops to get the frame-rate in the game right. As development progresses on, Raven plans to add features and assets from MW3, Ghosts, and even Advanced Warfare. But, bringing a new title to China means that Activision really has to understand Chinese gamers. For one, Chinese gamers don’t have ADS in current titles. Their most popular game right now is called Crossfire, which has no ADS.

“One of our biggest takeaways [from research] is that Call of Duty is hard,” Raffel said. “CoD players in the west, we’re used to looking down sights, we’re used to going prone and jumping and doing all these things at the same time. They do none of those things, and the things that they do do, they do one at a time. So they aren’t multitasking.”

“They see our epic killstreaks and go, “Wow, this is kind of a daunting experience, I don’t know that I’m going to be able to do all these things,'” Suarez said. “Being able to train them, and have them understand how they’re able to do these things is critically important.

“They don’t ADS [aim down sights] in Crossfire,” he continued. “So for us, it’s training them to understand that this will give them more accuracy. It’ll give them a better experience.”

The culture and foundation of how Chinese gamers play is fundamentally different and requires understanding across the development teams to implement.

“In video games [in the west], you see the shiny coin, you see the blinky box, you know you need to go collect it,” Suarez explained. “But when we started toing tests in China, this is not what they did. We have game modes, like ‘Kill Confirmed’ where you go around collecting dogtags, and either capture the kill for your team or deny the kill for the other. In China, they actively avoid these things. Thye’re like, ‘No, I don’t want to get that.’ These practices are just not inherent to their knowledge of how they play they games.

“So we need to take more time to explain that,” Suarez said. “We need to adapt our game to that culture.”

Call of Duty Online for China is exclusive to China; it’s a free-to-play Call of Duty title, but Activision is using micro transactions with customization and other options to make a profit from it.

They don’t have games that ADS? I feel sorry for the Chinese gamers, but it’s a shame Activision wants to keep Call of Duty Online exclusive to China, would’ve been nice to play with Call of Duty 4’s AK47 with an MW2 Red Dot Sight on Black Ops’ Firing Range :/

    • Daniel M

Hey! we should let them at least have some cod! poor guys/girls don’t get to play any call of duty. We get it every year! 🙂 we can’t all have everything.

      • jordanxbrookes

I know, it just would’ve been nice to play this criss-cross version of Call of Duty, you know, something different.

      • EggGrenade

Hey, we chineses have some games that featured ADS, and we chinese
can get Call of Duty series games on Steam or via procurement service.

      • NuttyTheSquirrel

Yes, but I’d rather have ONE “new” or “different” MW2 that keeps updated than another Ghosts every year.

      • ahmedt361

I dont think they are mising ghost I think it is beter for them lol

    • ccrows

*Being Dead serious – & I’m not trying to judge by any means, but since there’s no easy way to say this*

They pirate their games, so they don’t deserve ADS.

^ & what I mean by that is that I would NEVER PLAY A FPS WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO ADS.

Now give me the opportunity to “Pay” for COD Online, and give me ADS for doing so, and I’m good with it…

      • Keshav Bhat

You read the quote tho? ATVI is introducing ADS to China w/ COD Online

        • ccrows

I missed that, and thank you.

However, if it was me – ADS for people who buy it and no ADS (or ads at the very least) for people who don’t…

      • But…what about counter strike ;_;

      • TheShadowReaper

btw, Counter-Strike the biggest FPS on PC has no ADS ability. you dont need ADS to play unless you’re an autistic fucktard such as yourself. you’re probably young too and all you know is COD and BF.

        • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

I’m personally not a fan of Counter Strike BECAUSE of the fact that there’s no ADSing. There’s something about ADSing that I feel like it needs to be in an FPS game. I just think CS is overrated in general and that’s my opinion.

          • Mr Doge

Wow haha you really are an idiot? CS overrated? I’m a CoD fan but I think CoD is WAY more overrated than CS. You ARE little kid. Who do you think started the FPS MP trend we love today? CS. What was the #1 best selling game on Xbox last decade? Halo and did it have ADS? No. What about TF2? Great game but does it have ADS? No. So just stop think CS is shit when you haven’t obviously even played it.

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Do you know what I’ve played or haven’t played? No? So shut it.

CS is boring as fuck. Sorry. It’s my opinion, no need to get all butthurt over it. CS is far more overrated than Call of Duty. People make it out to be this incredible FPS game, well news flash, imo, but it’s not. Get your head out of your ass and accept that someone has a different opinion than you. BTW, Halo is also trash imo.

          • Mr Doge

CS is boring? HAHA ARE YOU RETARDED. HAVE YOU EVEN PLAYED THE PC VERSION? NO WAIT YOU HAVEN’T. DID YOU JUST GET MW3 FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY AND NOW YOU THINK ITS THE GOD OF GAMING. HAHAHA HALO IS TRASH? I CAN TELL YOU’RE A PS FANBOY FROM THAT COMMENT. WHAT YOU WANT AN INFAMOUS COLLECTION BECAUSE SONY IS TRYING TOO HARD TO BE MS BY SUPPORTING A MAJOR FPS TITLE?(Battlefield). GOSH YOU, YES YOU NEED TO PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR RED ASSHOLE AND SEE THAT COD ISNT THE ONLY FPS GAME.

          • TheShadowReaper

            preach it Doge! go ham!

although in my opinion COD has surpassed CS in pretty much everything except competitive but that will happen too eventually. but CS is still a worthy competitor.

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

I never said that Call of Duty was better, did I? I think the franchise has gone hill for the past 4-5 years, so don’t get my words twisted. Do I have to continue telling you the same shit over and over? It’s not MY cup of tea, so let’s not get so butthurt, now.

You need to pull YOUR head out of YOUR ass and accept that people don’t feel the same way you do, I find it to be an extremely boring franchise because it doesn’t appeal to ME. I’m a PlayStation fanboy? You’re a PC fanboy. Get over yourself, people like you are the reason why I don’t want to TOUCH Counter Strike. Grow up.

          • 林鸿

            呵呵

          • TheShadowReaper

i understand where you’re coming from. i want my ADS too in the FPS games i play. but CS is far from overrated. it was COD before COD existed. it did what COD did before COD was a concept. so using your theory, COD is overrated too? what i say is that CS is the proof that a FPS game doesnt need ADS to succeed.

        • jordanxbrookes

Counter-Strike is a good game, but ADS makes you feel like your a soldier using accuracy, rather than not being able to ADS and being nothing but that “Spray N Prayer”.

          • TheShadowReaper

its called gameplay mechanics. i dont like not being able to ADS either right now cause i have been used to EVERY FPS game having some form of ADS. but back then it wasnt a big deal. i have probably played CS 1.6 twice as much as i have played COD4. not being able to ADS was the least of my concerns back in the day.

    • TheShadowReaper

they dont have games in the first place! its a miracle they have Crossfire to play at least! damned China keeps their people under chains so they dont revolt against them! havent they learned anything from their Western counterparts? give fake freedom to people and they will buy it. why keep them so contained? lol

      • jordanxbrookes

I know man, China are like “Oooh PS4 and Xbox One, NO! CHINA PRODUCTS ONLY, FUCK THE PEOPLE IN THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA”. So sad 🙁

      • Boom

I’m a Chinese but I often play COD.
Chinese gamer are able to play COD, but just a few people know COD.

        • TheShadowReaper

well, i am happy for your part that gaming is at last coming to your country. you have been out of this for a long time. but with your president or whoever patrols games before they are released in China you wont have much of a library to play. but thats a start i guess. what games do you have over there? can you show me some examples?

          • The government “patrols games” doesn’t means the government can stop Chinese players from playing games which haven’t been released in China. And not seldom people in China know and play games around the world doesn’t means they CAN’T play those games.

          • TheShadowReaper

i’m talking about genuine copies of games, original copies of games and gamers in China that use these to play rather than torrenting a game. if you want to play a game on the PC its the most easy thing today with so many torrent sites. but Chinese gamers that dont use this way to play or dont have the knowledge of using this way to play games have a rather limited game library to work with. do you get it now?

          • MasonG1994

No,you are wrong.Steam is not banned in China, we can purchase whatever the game we want. If i want to get a physical copy, I just go onto taobao and order it, easy as buying game on ebay or amazon.

          • TheShadowReaper

yeah i know Steam isnt banned in China but i didnt knew you had services like taobao to purchase games etc. there has been a mystery cloak about what you guys can do over there about gaming. i’m just hoping the best options are available for you.

          • MasonG1994

Thanks, I appreciate it.Basically people have alot options about what they play and how they play here, not much less than in the western.PCs and consoles, console hacks, buying discs and digitals, playing online offline,of course there are illegal downloads. Also xboxone and ps4 are officially coming to China this year, gonna see how will they perform.

          • TheShadowReaper

thats nice to hear, you’re welcome btw.

yeah i heard PS4 and XBOne are coming to China but there have been laws that say any game that “compromises China’s safety or identity” or something similar (i dont quite remember) wont be coming to the consoles over there at China. lets hope for you guys the system wont be completely strict and let most games come to their home platforms. happy gaming.

          • MasonG1994

Yeah, as long as they don’t make consoles region locked, everything will be fine.hope they don’t 🙂

Call of Duty Online looks like the best CoD yet. Absolutely packed with the best content from each series. Why not bring it to the rest of the market?

    • Keshav Bhat

      *very complicated*

      • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

They’re a billion dollar company lol they should be able to do the research and make a worldwide release. I don’t know lol I just want this game so bad.

        • So you would like to pay for your perks, weapons, classes, attachments, killstreaks, etc.?

I prefer buying a totally new game every year, unlock the new features by playing and leveling up.

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

You wouldn’t be forced to buy anything, it could be grind to win.

          • Yeah, but that’s not the concept of the game, and that’s one of the reasons they are doing a beta for the targeted audience, Chinese gamers in China.

          • Aldo

CoD online is taking the best parts of CoD4, MW2, MW3 and Blops which means none of the bs that spoiled some of those games. Personally, if Activision went back and patched OMA, DC and Commando from MW2 I’d be back playing it religiously as it was the most fun I’ve had playing online.

So it may be a ‘station that’s passed’ as you put it but if it’s your favourite station only improved and is likely to be better than the stations ahead then hell yeah I’m all for going back!

          • I gotta admit, you’re right on that one.
MW2 would be awesome without the things that kinda broke the game.

For me the thing is, I like the innovation and new things that come with a new title of year, for Ghosts, that was the different map design in comparison to Black Ops II and also the new Extinction mode.

Personally, I don’t see myself playing a game I’ve already played for a year, but to re-experience those awesome moments for a couple of times again would be cool, tbh 🙂

          • smayo

I wouldn’t, but a release like CoD online with all the best maps and weapons etc with the traditional level up system at full price, I would buy that

          • Why would you pay for something you’ve already payed for?
Those maps where awesome, since you remember them as awesome. Don’t get me wrong, I had awesome times on those maps back then, but, it’s a station we have passed.

May I ask you: do you like the new CoDs when they come out, for example: do you like Ghosts?
If not, it’s probably also because of some of the playerbase who ruin the game.

Those same ‘gameruiners’ will (probably) also transfer to that CoD Online game, or will buy it, whatever.
And why would they play so honorfull, just as you remember those older maps? No they won’t. They will ruin that beautiful memory.

          • smayo

You have a point there, and no, I don’t like ghosts but I think it’s not the playerbase that ruined ghosts, it’s ghosts itself that did that, I mean the best way to win in ghosts is to play carefully or camp, so the majority will play like that because lets be honest everybody wants to win no ? Look at bo2, it’s a rushers game even it have a lot of camping tools, but the way you get rewarded for playing the obj. makes you wanna rush or at least play actively, what I try to say is it’s on the developers how there game plays by the choices they make, the community just adapts.

          • Well, I can remember some people in BO2 playing with LMG Target Finders, or in MW2 people playing with DC, OMA and grenade launchers.

But the point I was trying to make is: remakes are a bad idea, especially entire game remakes.

People in China get this, because there is no legit Call of Duty there, and the beta is there to see how the Chinese players will greet it.

        • ShareYTV

Get it on PC and download the English mod

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

I don’t know how to get the English mod lol. The connections would be terrible though.

        • Keshav Bhat

The game is being published by a company who publishes game in China only: Tencent. So, it’s exclusivity deal issues and more.

    • Owen Chan

But Tencent mess up Call of duty online…..

  • No rest of the world? Racist.

    • Keshav Bhat

When a China-exclusive company like Tencent is co-publishing the game, then you know…

  • smayo

China gets an open beta, WTF !! for years CoD fans are asking here for a beta, only to get left out in the cold and being stuck with a piece of shit like ghosts

    • ccrows

Easy there spanky, there’s some of us that actually like Ghosts…

      • smayo

Each his own ofcourse, I myself was just heavily disappointed in ghosts

        • ccrows

100% serious, after WAW (MP40), MW2(tubes), and MW3(SRP PP) I was almost ready to leave the series for good.

BO2 and Ghosts are the ONLY reason why I’m willing to give AW a chance. (I hate futuristic shooters – & I’m talking futuristic 25+ years with a f***ing passion)

However since I LOVED BO2 and Ghosts, I’m willing to go in with “extremely low expectations” (for AW) and at least give it a chance…

          • QuickzZ-_-GhosT

            I actually liked Ghosts too.

      • Grenada!

What, like 10 people in the whole world?

    • Keshav Bhat

Wait what? China gets a beta for this title because how massive and different of a project it is. This is nothing similar to Ghosts or on that scale. This is a title that needs extensive testing because of how complicated it’s launch will actually be.

      • smayo

CoD’s here needs also extensive testing, the amount of OP crap In the last few games is atrocious

        • Keshav Bhat

OP doesn’t equal the same as the scale on COD Online. Overpowered stuff can we altered easily in the game once the devs see the usage. But COD Online, being a free to play game, needs massive testing because of the scale on servers and on features.

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Then they should make a worldwide release, that’d make more sense, and it’d be much easier to test. It’s not like us Americans can’t play it, our ping will just be through the roof. Like 500 or more.

          • Grenada!

The CoD here needs a beta though, it’s the most played FPS online so they should have a beta but it costs money and Activision wouldn’t want to spend a dime on a beta because their money whores.

          • smayo

I hear what you say, for a ftp game you need extensive testing of the servers ofcourse, but you must agree that an early beta will improve the next and further releases of CoD here in the west so much better, not to mention how long fans of the series are asking for a beta, to see then that china gets an open beta while here there voices fall on deaf ears, I think I can say everybody here on charlieintel.com loves CoD, and want it to be the best as possible, but for me knowing that china gets a beta while here we’re still in the dark if it even going to happen at all stings a bit

        • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

It’s not just OP crap, what Activision needs to understand is that a lot of their games are broken. Thanks to them firing Respawn, MW2 was broken as hell. But as I said, OP things in the last CoDs were the least of our worries. Treyarch cannot develop net code worth a damn, so having a beta to test the servers would have saved us all from the pain and suffering we got from BO1 and 2. Plus, all the glitches from early on in the game will be patched before release. Activision are just ignorant. There’s no reason not to have a beta on all of their games, it’s not like sales would go down.

          • Baldmanz_RAGE

Unfortunately the only way Activision will learn and give us a beta is if the COD community stops buying their game without one. They know they can put out poop and everyone will still buy it every year. I for one have learned my lesson from Ghosts. I will not pre-order AW and I’ll probably take a page out of TheShwantz27(youtube) and only buy a used copy from gamestop so Activision doesn’t get the money. I wasted $110(game + Season’s Pass) on Ghosts and absolutely will not do that again.

          • Grenada!

That’s what I’m doing now. Ghosts was the last CoD game that i’ll buy new. I’ll get AW second hand after a week of it’s release or something like that. I’ll be getting Destiny new though, not to support Activision though, but to support Bungie since they are gods.

          • smayo

Same here, I probably still buy it new (if good) but I will not pre-order it, I managed to not pre order ghosts only 3 weeks before launch (the hype got the best of me) only to realize what a foolish mistake I made only 1 week after I got the game, I wait this one out, watch some youtube channels and decide then to buy it or leave it in the shelfs

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Shwantz is awesome. Can’t forget Freedo and EddytheChump.

I agree, however, if the beta is pre-order only, I’ll be forced to pre-order it. Plus with how they’ve mentioned that there are former and current CoD players apart of the team of SH I think it’ll be good.

          • Baldmanz_RAGE

Freedo, Eddy and shwantz are all awesome. I listen to their lagcomp podcast every week. I agree that if the only way I can get a beta is by pre-ordering then that will be the only way I will do it. Let’s hope SH gets it right.

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Same and yep they’re all awesome.

          • Mr Doge

You guys really have no idea what you are talking about do you? “Oh releasing a public beta will fix EVERYTHING”. I think it will honestly do the opposite. Look what happened with BF4. They had a beta. The game is as broken as hell. If they released a public beta the game will turn to crap? Why you ask? Well because all the 12 year old kiddies will complain to SHG about OP crap then they will make the game even worse. Also the MLG tryhards have a track record for ruining the CoD games because they end up playing an Alpha of a game we play. So even though I want a beta I think it would be best if they do what they did last year and invite people who know a lot about CoD like Drift0r to come and try it out.

          • Baldmanz_RAGE

First off the bf4 beta was literally a week or two before launch which is not enough time to do anything. Secondly the game was rushed that is why bf4 was a mess. The reason a beta is necessary for multiplayer games is for network stability and troubleshooting with a lot off users playing at the same time which is not going to happen with their handpicked focus groups like Drift0r. Yes the masses might have some stupid ideas but SH doesn’t have to listen to all of them. Activision will never have a beta because they are not stupid. Suckers like you, Mr. Doge will always buy these games blindly. Which is totally within your right but don’t criticize others for wanting to get some proof of a good game and not just piece of shit in a fancy dress.

          • shanafan

Whenever people claim games are broken, I really think it’s just an excuse to why they suck playing.

          • jooker-jr

No. The game is broken but somehow it’s fun

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Well, if there’s an overpowered weapon that I can’t defend against, then why can’t I complain? Plus, it’s not whining and moaning if the game is legitimately broken, like glitches and hacking and such.

          • smayo

Exactly, a beta would iron out so many of the frustrating issues mentioned here above before launch, I can deal with some network issues on launch day, that’s normal, but the rest all can be resolved if they just release a beta 2 months before launch

    • Grenada!

Agreed. Activision just want that money so they’re release betas in China and once people start buying it, they stop making betas just like what they done with us.

      • smayo

Sad thing is you probably right, I believe the last beta we saw was the [email protected] beta, exactly the time when CoD became the big franchise it is nowadays, if it catches on in China I bet they can forget about future beta’s too

  • Wraith

Crossfire is their most played FPS? Jesus.
Is Sudden Attack Korea’s most played FPS?

Either way, both need a lot of time in the polishing and developing cycle.

    • TheShadowReaper

Korea has games like Black Desert and Bless. why would they need COD?

  • Sami Ul Haque

Huh pirate they are soo late in gaming world i guess gamers who have played cod they could own them.

  • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

I want it to come to America. WTF? Advanced Warfare better have a beta because if not I’ll be pissed.

    • No beta

Not arguing but is that confirmed?

  • I_squish_your_head

So we’re still not getting it in Europe? Quite fancied their take on zombies as well.

  • Reading the comment section here makes me close my pc,go outside and think how people can be so retarded

    • TheShadowReaper

yeah, i know Riley, i know. *pats dog in the head*

    • Yup, same here.

  • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

I had a really good idea. Instead of only THREE developers for Call of Duty, why not make Raven the fourth? They could port CoD Online for America or something like it. They’ve only made DLC for Call of Duty, so their actual talents (their past games prove that they have talent) have not yet been shown, at least for this franchise.

    • Xecho

      F2P doesn’t count

      • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Why not? They’re games, too… They definitely coutn.

    • MR_WATSiT2YA

You really want to wait four years for zombies?

      • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Yep, wouldn’t you want Zombies that’s bigger and better? You have to wait 3 years after next year, anyway.

        • MR_WATSiT2YA

Yeah good point man but they’ve done so much they probably can’t even come up with anything better in four years

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Meh, the multiplayer dev team for Treyarch is the only dumb part of the studio lol, the Zombies team are smart and are capable of, well, anything.

    • jooker-jr

      Raven made ghosts MP

      • Mitch

I can only laugh at comments like these

        • jooker-jr

Since cod ghosts has the most hated MP ( I liked it ) I thought its a bad idea

  • Why do people go on this site and hate on either CoD or AliA/TmarTn, then call us CoD fanboys? This is a site for CoD fanboys so LIVE WITH IT!

    • shanafan

Or, can someone like COD but hate on Ali-A and TmarTn?

      • Yes, but this site is not for hating on two YTers

        • shanafan

Well, I can’t take them seriously. TmarTn calls BF Hardline.. BF 5 Hardline in his newest video, and then says in the video BF 4 Blood Money. He’s a joke.

          • Okay, an error. Does that hive you the need to hate on him on this site?

          • Freeze

If you care about battlefield that much I welcome you to check out http://bravointel.com/

          • TheShadowReaper

well, you cant blame him, the guy is a young YTber who has no idea about games except COD. i wouldnt take TmarTn too seriously. but he makes some good videos once in a while.

  • SupremeVishnu

Haven’t they had CoD Online for like 2 years now? I remember the nV Competitive team going to China and playing in a tournament on the computers. I think it was after Columbus or something.

    • Actually just a few players can play it and the beta often stops for months during the 2 years.

  • kyr95
  • The Flash

da fuq why not bring it elsewhere, i want to try that cyborg zombie mode out

  • John Smith

I hate sci fi shooters, Crysis, Titanfall, etc. I really wish we could just have a version of CoD Online here. I miss the old games, but they’re all overrun with hackers and cheaters….

  • Michael

Oh I got so happy when I read the title of the article. I thought WE were getting an open beta. But whatever ?

  • Grenada!

They talk as if the Chinese are a different race to us. And why the fuck is CoD: Online not out in the US and Europe? I would actually buy that over any other CoD game at the moment.

    • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

In short, it’s because the publisher is Chinese-exclusive.

    • Well, actually, Chinese people, or Asian people do differ from Americans and Western Europians. Not only on the outside, but also on the inside, most Asians are much more introverted than most Americans and Europians.

  • “Call of Duty is a known and established brand in China — through piracy” Some Chinese players would like to spend money on F2P games like Crossfire which has been mentioned in the article or some webgames or cell phone games. The money they spend year sometime is enough to buy every Call of Duty on PC but most of them see others who purchase the games on Steam as fools because there’s already a piratic version. But I have to say that there are still some players who play Call of Duty through Steam, XBOX or PlayStation. For them maybe Call of Duty online only means lower ping, more players online, purchasing for claymores and perks instead of the whole game, or just playing in Nuketown with a Modern Warfare way.
And as far as I know, CoD players from China, I mean those who plays genuine version and know a lot about vidoe games around the world, not those who plays the piratic version and don’t even know Call of Duty mutiplayer (because most piratic version only provides singleplayer part of the game), are not expecting very much about CoD online. But some players from rest of the world complain a lot about CoD online can only be played in China.
By the way, I got the similar feelings like some of you after knowing that CoD online is coming to China but because of that we can’t buy BO2 on Steam two years ago. But soon I find that I can still purchase the game through Amazon. So maybe you can wait for the true open beta (means everyone who have a tencent account can play the beta) and find something like VPN from China and try thegame yourself.

    • TheShadowReaper

you have completely missed the point pal.

  • Mr_Tactical

Well I’m a Chinese player, and I have followed COD for many years, but I’m definitely not going to play Call of duty online. The fact is, Even though the players in China commonly play F2P games, there are still a number of players who actually pay for the games they wanna play. F2P games may be worthless to them. Call of duty Online isn’t for the players who buy COD every November.

  • advista

If they do bring it to North America They would not make it free assuming they have experience in the market

  • Ryumoau

i’m not a fan of free to play games, so i’m hoping this ‘free’ micro-transaction model doesn’t make it to North America anytime soon.

    • TheShadowReaper

it has, but not to COD just yet.

edit: and hopefully we never see it.

  • 王尼玛

    我们中国人和上面说的不一样 我从七年前就开始玩cod了 所谓的穿越火线是小学生玩的我们也在吐槽

  • 王尼玛

I have a call of duty ol test qualifications

  • Underdog BO1 FTW!

If i’m not wrong China banning games that have violent

    • Sometimes but that banning influence little about getting a genuine game. Instead, the banning can stop some players from downloading piratic games in China.

  • EggGrenade

Not totally right, it’s right that lots of chinese gamers don’t know ADS, but a number of chinese gamers know COD and play COD on Steam, they know ADS, sprint, prone, attachment, perk, killsteaks and such well.

Also there are some games featured ADS and even sprint and prone in China, but, right, actually rare. (e.g Warface)

  • Bill

I m Chinese, why you give the game to Tencent, Tencent is bitch! Use a Chinese describe Tencent, 腾讯 就是 一个只会山寨收钱 的公司. 只会糟蹋 游戏.

  • 陈哈欠

    我是中国人

  • 腾讯qq2316853329

    我们这6月30号开服

  • ApexOTR X

If you read at the last part, there thinking of turning COD around for them, basically saying there going to make cod more like crossfire for them , not ADS. thats going to be weird o.0

  • Brazzers

This is gonna be the best version of call of duty ever made……its like a best of COD even if its chinese im going to get this

  • achineseplayer

Well, 2015 a. As one of China’s COD gamers. I can responsibly say for so foreign friends: “CODOL crow has been a big mess, before also, now rotten to death?.” I have given up early on CODOL up. BF3 and 4 to go back

  • 华人

Go to your crow, go to your CODOL

  • 华人

Lock area [game] as for China, “we Chinese game players have a plenty of ways to buy”. For example, BF, COD, Crysis GTA, CSGO… , etc,,,,, but I personally would never again go to play CODOL
