Neversoft studio is now officially been merged into Infinity Ward. The announcement of this came earlier this year, when a memo from Activision CEO was posted online; Neversoft studio has merged into Infinity Ward under the Infinity Ward name.

Neversoft tweeted yesterday what the studio was doing to celebrate the end of a long era; the studio was known for their Tony Hawk games, and most recently, the Extinction mode in Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Neversoft said that Tony Hawk was also present at their studio close celebration.

Skateboards confirmed in Call of Duty: Ghosts II.

    • Keshav Bhat

Neversoft worked on Call of Duty: Ghosts and made the entire Extinction mode and all of the Extinction DLC, so I think aliens is something that’s important to them too.

      • I mean, you have to admit, skateboards would be a fun one time thing, too. Ammirite?

        • jooker-jr

HoverBikes vs skateboards Who’s the winner ?

          • Big Shell incident? Let Raiden handle that.

      • Why would they merge under Infinity Ward? I know it’s a bigger company and has a reputation for Call of Duty, but IW’s reputation is going down to an all time low. As you know, more people are playing Treyarch games then IW games anyway. I used to love IW, but Ghosts changed that.

      • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

        Extinction =/= aliens. They’re Cryptids/prehistoric monsters.

      • I’m sorry. I know that this is not the right place to say this, but you seem like the most qualified person to figure this out. DO you remember before ghosts was out, in one of the multiplayer trailers there was a guy on stonehaven, who jumped down from a stone pillar and landed next to a guy who was clearly invisible? I’ve been thinking about this for MONTHS and haven’t found out what he was invisible from. If you know, or if it was painfully obvious, please tell me!

        • jordanxbrookes

My guess is that it was going to be a perk or it was going to be a killstreak that never made it to the final product.

          • I thought that, but if they weren’t sure if it was going to make it, why put it in the mp trailer at all?

        • JJGoodwood

          It was the Predator

      • TheShadowReaper

they also made the shitty PC port. just take note of that, this merge is not a good thing for PC players. not at all. i am afraid of their porting skills at this point.

    • ben wills

Honestly with how much backlash Ghosts has received (far far more than any other CoD, even more than MW3 and BO2 somehow), I doubt they’re calling it Ghosts 2.

      • jordanxbrookes

Remember when everyone said ‘Black Ops 2? Nah they wouldn’t do that’ o.O

        • ben wills

I never recall anyone saying that lol. BO1 was a very popular game and many really liked it, self included. The only big issues I recall were the connection issues on PC/PS3, which caused some brutal lag and thus some backlash. I saw BO2 coming from a mile away.

      • NuttyTheSquirrel

Of course it will. They slapped Ghosts 2 on our faces on the end of the campaign.

  • Draz

The title would’ve been better like this ”
Neversoft studio celebrates their studio closing”

    • To read yes; I fully agree – however blog post titles weigh heavily on search algorithms so many try to pack as much crap into it as possible.

    • Keshav Bhat

Well that wouldn’t be accurate because while the studio is closing, all the employees still work for ATVI, but now with IW.

  • 🙁

  • QuickzZ-_-GhosT

    Go Infinity Ward !

    • Kill Denied

And they still manage to do a shit job. Old IW > New IW

      • ‘Old IW’ rage quited on us, the new IW is made out of the people that were loyal to us and new employees that want to make videogames for us.

        • jordanxbrookes

I agree. As much the original IW guys made fantastic Call of Duty games, they left IW in hot water, the current IW team stayed, and I’m glad they did.

          • Thank you! Finally someone who agrees 🙂

          • jordanxbrookes

It’s true though, and I want to personally thank Rubin, Tina, Candice and the rest of IW for not giving up on the fans. It’s just a shame the majority of the fans like to talk trash on this company just because they made some bad choices with Ghosts.

          • Josh

Tina only joined to take over from Robert bowling as community manager in May 2012. This was way after some of the IW developers left, following Jason West and Vince Zampella to form Respawn Entertainment.

          • ben wills

They made far better choices with Ghosts than MW3

          • NuttyTheSquirrel

            MW3 wasn’t good either…

          • jordanxbrookes

            I liked MW3.

          • TheShadowReaper

exactly. thank you both @darvaldyt:disqus and @jordanxbrookes:disqus

at least somebody still uses logic out there.

        • Grenada!

Activision fired the old IW. That was one big mistake. Loyal? They come out with Ghosts and you call them loyal? Hahahaha

          • Hah, they were fired because they were having secret deals with EA! They were already planning to leave CoD. Sure, Activision isn’t the most ‘good’ and ‘honorful’ company.

          • jordanxbrookes

Well we don’t exactly know the full story, and chances are we will never know who was right and who was wrong, but to if they were doing these secret meetings with EA, then the only question I would ask is why the f*ck would you go with EA, one of the most hated companies in the world, I mean look what they did with BF4, DICE wanted to wait a bit longer because the game’s multiplayer wasn’t ready, but EA being EA, they said nope we don’t care if the servers aren’t fully ready, smh.

          • Well, at that time they didn’t know that I guess. And Activision is, besides EA, also a pretty hated company. But I guess that’s with every big publisher and game design studio, they always get hated for what they do, that goes for Call of Duty, Battlefield, even Blizzard gets a lot of hate when it comes to their designing choices on World of Warcraft.

          • jordanxbrookes

Oh yes I’m not doubting that ATVI aren’t hated on, but I’m pretty sure more people hate EA.

  • QuickzZ-_-GhosT

Let’s see how it goes on Ghosts 2

    • AcePhoenix007

Mark Rubin is so fucking annoying….

      • jordanxbrookes

I don’t think Mark Rubin is a bad person, I think deep down he’s a nice guy, I just wish they make Ghosts 2 not what Ghosts was. But keep some of the good things about Ghosts e.g. Field Orders, Dynamic Maps, Unique Weapons like the HB, K7 and VKS have built-in silencers or the USR and L115 having built-in recoil compensators, etc.

        • John Peters

U call that dynamic maps? hahahahahaa don’t make me laugh nigga

          • jordanxbrookes

1] I’m not black, 2] Why use such language? 3] Yes they are dynamic maps, I never saw a Black Ops 2 map have it’s landscape change from an ODIN Strike.

          • Grenada!

1 dynamic map in Ghosts. Yet the map is shite anyway.

          • jordanxbrookes

It’s not just 1 map though, and no Strikezone is not bad, in fact a lot of people like it.

          • Toady

Dynamic maps? You don’t even know what the word means kid. Just because IW used it are promotional spiel to reel you fanboys in doesn’t mean it’s of the true meaning. BF4 has real dynamic environments.

          • jordanxbrookes

1] I never knew 17 was classed as ‘kid’ 2] BF4’s dynamic elements are scripted just like Ghosts’ so don’t try that one and 3] Go to BravoINTEL, wrong website.

          • Kmillz0

yeh bro, shooting a tree to make a mini bridge is sooooo dynamic lol

          • TheShadowReaper

no, BF’s environments are heavily scripted to hell. its just a promotional spiel EA uses to sell you these pieces of shit. good job being completely blind to the truth.

          • jordanxbrookes

Thanks, another person who gets it.

          • Joey Woof

Don’t bring battlefield into this. The powers you are messing with are beyond human comprehension!!

          • Joey Woof

            [and animal comprehension]

          • CABgamingProductions .

Well Jordan is right. They are scripted, but still classified as dynamic. Yes, battlefield is known for the dynamic maps, but the maps in ghosts do have dynamic elements. If you want to talk about battlefield go to bravointel, and as a premium member, battlefield 4 definitely has it’s fair share of problems.

          • TheShadowReaper

the first Black Ops had dynamic maps. just not on that level but they were dynamic so to speak.

          • jordanxbrookes

I know, btw did you know Black Ops is my favourite Call of Duty? 😉

          • TheShadowReaper

right there with you. BO rules the COD family with an iron fist! 😀

          • jordanxbrookes

Or should it be ‘Iron Wolf’ if you understand where I’m coming from? 😉

          • TheShadowReaper

ah yeah…Iron Wolf. that was definitely a trend back then. it would be cool if Treyarch would do that!

        • cookie

And they should remove that earthquake some of the maps have annoying as fuck

        • Mr Doge

Actually he isn’t so bad he even disagreed with Fish AI. I was watching an Interview and Mark Rubin said something like “So on of our developers said that they should mention ‘Fish AI’ and I said Fish AI? Ok thats a little wierd haha”. I think thats how it went.

        • NotoriousGamers

Stop taking every single reply to you on the Internet as something so personal that it affects your day. It’s the internet, people will say what they want, so don’t try to convince them. Give it a break dude just advice no hard feelings, some people just don’t care which is sad for them

        • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

After the Campaign of the first Ghosts, it was sequel-driven, so I know for a fact that IW’s next game will be Ghosts 2. With that in mind, IW can forget about my money going forward. I’m done with them.

      • QuickzZ-_-GhosT

Yeah he can be somewhat stupid sometimes.

      • ben wills

        No worse than Bowling

        • AcePhoenix007

I actually never got to know much about Robert Bowling. All I knew about him was that he left Infinity Ward just before Black Ops II was released.

          • ben wills

Well 2 months before MW3 came out, at the big multiplayer event he literally said “fuck you last stand”, claiming there is no way in hell it would be in MW3. It was in the game.

There was a bunch of other shit he lied about to, and in general took the skill out of CoD for that game.

      • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

I don’t think so. Him and Zach Volker are the only people in IW that have humanity, and they’re also among the only people from the original team left. If anything, they are the people that I’d support. They need to go to Respawn, CoD isn’t doing anything good for them. They’d get FAR less hate. And Tina needs to get fired. She can’t do her job well. She’s a good person, but she belongs at blogs, not the industry itself. She has no excitement, unlike Bowling and Vonderhaar (fuck him, but at least he’ll still be excited about his games, even if he gets flack).

    • SilentNova

Mark Rubin…speaking of him, where the hell is he? Wasn’t in the trailer for Invasion, nor was Tina….goes to show they are ashamed of their game. Which I personally enjoy for the most part.

    • tobi xw

Ghosts 2 is gana be fucking shit…don’t speak of it….just look forward to aw.the bo3…and then stop looking until aw 2……

      • TheShadowReaper

BO is over as a series. Treyarch may go back to the WWII glory days with their game on 2015. or make something similar to their BO series…who knows. too early to know.

        • MichiganerE

It sucks that the BO series is most likely over. Oh well, I guess it’s time to move on. If IW moved on from MW and SH created AW, then 3arc will probably do the same. But hey, Next Gen means Next beginnings right?

          • TheShadowReaper

yeah i guess so. and if Treyarch decides to go WWII on us that means COD will flip flop around future warfare, modern era-like warfare and WWII warfare. just imagine the variety when everyone is doing modern warfare right now. at least Crytek seems to be trying a bit with Homefront The Revolution going kinda futuristic warfare era but with the “Homefront” twist on it, China entering and enslaving USA instead of the other way around. (USA destroying any other country with no effort and stuff)

tbh, the FPS genre is really stale right now. while COD is to blame cause everyone tries to get a piece of that COD pie on the market, right now COD doesnt do this anymore. BF does. its laughable cause everyone point their finger at COD when COD tries to innovate for a change.

          • MichiganerE

I agree. IW doing modern/near-future games, SHG doing futuristic games, and 3arc doing historical games would be refreshing every year for the fact that we would get something different from each developer.

I also agree with your opinion on the FPS genre; it’s stale and needs something to spark it up again. Right now, the only FPS franchises that could have a chance to do this would be: CoD, Halo, Titanfall and Destiny.
Here are examples for each franchise:
For CoD: Going into the future, past and present with a different experience each time.
For Halo: The Halo: Master Chief Collection and Halo 5: Guardians being based around Arena-Based multiplayer; there’s also rumors of Halo 5 being open world.
            For Titanfall: Mech based gameplay.
For Destiny: MMO and RPG mechanics.

How would this spark back up the FPS genre you might wonder? Here’s how:

If CoD does World War II again (if done right) being how big CoD is, would inspire other developers to make WWII FPS games again. If CoD 4 could inspire other games back then and even now, just imagine what a modern WWII CoD game could do. Besides, the 8th generation of consoles needs a taste of a WWII FPS.

For Halo, it could revive Arena-Based multiplayer. How? Halo: The Master Chief Collection (Except for Halo 4) and Halo 5: Guardians are both based around Arena Based multiplayer, and being how big Halo is, could inspire other develops to do the same.

Titanfall as a franchise could inspire other develops to create FPS games based around mech gameplay.

For Destiny, it’s a FPS with MMO and RPG mechanics, right? This could inspire other developers to experiment more with the FPS genre.

If all these things are done right, just imagine how much variety there would be in the FPS genre. Not only would this spark back up the genre, but it would also give gamers so many types of FPS games to play.

          • TheShadowReaper

that was a looooooong reply. well said though. but dont just look where most gamers would look. give a chance to Homefront The Revolution. who knows, we might see something unique from the Crytek and Deep Silver collaboration. also about arena shooters and Halo, dont forget that Unreal tournament will return stronger than ever now that Epic takes feedback from old school die hard Quake and Unreal fans about their UT4 game. this could bring arena shooters to the spotlight Halo didnt manage to achieve. also, Rainbow Six returns with Rainbow Six Siege! that’s one of my old school favs! FPS is stale right now definitely but with so many options coming up it seems like it will be revived…or die forever. there’s always two sides of a coin, arent they?

          • MichiganerE

            Yep, agreed.

      • QuickzZ-_-GhosT

Maybe they’ve learned their lesson with Ghosts.

        • tobi xw

Dude I’m not looking forward to infinity ward everror again I hope iw closes down..

    • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Please no. If IW’s next CoD is Ghosts 2, then I’m done with IW games for good. Why is IW only restricted to CoD? And SH, too? Is Activision scared?

  • jooker-jr

The next IW cod should be better

    • I think they learned from this one, so they should improve 🙂

      • jooker-jr

If they really learned their mistake. Their next cod will be the best because while a lot of people hated ghosts ( not me ) ghosts has a lot of good things like the netcode , the hit detection , extinction and more ….

        • I know, it really does, actually, imo Ghosts is one of the best CoDs so far. i went back to play some MW3 today, but holy shit, I can’t believe how I could have so much fun back in the day, on a game that doesn’t run smooth at all.
I guess I am too used to the smoothness of Ghosts (no host migration, pretty much no lag, good hitdetection, etc, etc.)

Ghosts does have it flaws, and it actually is a bit different from previous CoDs, but that’s why I like it.

      • ben wills

Well MW3 was the worst CoD yet, and Ghosts is easily better so I guess so

        • CinemaSins

No it wasnt the worst CoD to date is CoD: Big Red One

          • ben wills

BRO wasn’t that bad I didn’t think. Judged it on a completely different scale back then, though. Times have changed to much since CoD4 for me to really consider the ones before it when “ranking the CoD’s”. All I know is I liked 1, UO, 2, BRO, 3

        • Yeah, every game has it’s flaws, and as we can see, developers learn from that every year. And imo Ghosts is definitely better than MW3 ^^

  • RdJokr

Well, here’s hoping some of their Extinction efforts rubs off onto the rest of the team. IW needs it if they’re gonna try a Ghosts 2.

  • jordanxbrookes

    Never forget, Neversoft.

    • Freeze

      What did they develop?

      • They were best known for developing Tony Hawk’s games, and helping out on making videogame levels on other games.
RIP Tony Hawk Games Not Having COD: Ghosts Lag [2002-2014]

      • jordanxbrookes

        What WildBuffalo711 said.

  • Michael

So Tony Hawk will be an exclusive character for extinction in ghost 2 I’m assuming? (Sarcasm)

  • Well, now my Tony Hawk games are going to have trickaim misfires and Nail the Trick malfunctions……..CURSE YOU IW!

  • At least Tony Hawk games will live on with my PS2 – yes I said PS2. Extinction however – I played a few games of it for the first time earlier this week solo. I found it incredibly stupid and have no plans to play it again. On the flip side I really enjoyed/enjoy Zombies.

  • Gump

Neversoft merged with IW, read that a couple times. 😀

  • Guywithbrains

I am becoming crazy, because I haven’t got big Advanced Warfare news in a long time. Atleast it feels like that…

  • Ryumoau

i’ve never played any of the tony hawk games but hopefully this will improve the future IW games, because Infinity Ward hasn’t made a game i’ve enjoyed since MW2.

  • ProSkater

    Tony Hawks Pro Skater,anyone?

  • Grenada!

They should be burning the IW logo after the mess we call Ghosts.

    • Sal

Mess that you guys created 😛

  • Devin Johnson

why does everyone always hate on IW? “i havent seen a good game from them since mw2” like seriously guys. yall need to understand they took a bunch of complaints from other call of duty games, and fixed them in to this game. but everybody still hates on ghosts. ghosts isnt as balanced, but i honestly think they took a huge jump to make it better then they would have if they didnt listen to the community. we asked for a faster time to kill from BO2. they fixed that. we starting asking for levelution because of battlefield. they implemented that as much as they could.you all still hate on it. they couldve done worse. deal with what they have. i personally love ghosts. dont hate on IW. hate on me

    • ben wills

I quite like Ghosts. It’s no where near as good as BO1 / WaW, but no where near as bad as MW3 / BO2

    • Zeta

the same people who trash on IW are the same ones who trashed treyarch for BOII, the developers can never win.

      • jordanxbrookes

        It happens every single year.

    • *stifles laughter* I fail to see how Ghosts could have been any worse. Hacked lobbies within four days of release was enough for me to get rid of it.

      • Sal

MW2 was hacked on the first day.

        • I don’t doubt that, but I also never got slotted into them through matchmaking in MW2. As far as Ghosts is concerned, they just did me a favor in prompting me to rid myself of it as soon as possible.

          • Sal

Hahahahahaha alright. You barely played the game and left cause of one hacked lobby on a game that took way longer than any other CoD to be hacked (not counting PC)?

            Talk about hypocrisy.

          • Oh man, you’re making me feel bad about not sticking with the worst CoD ever made and going to other titles I thought were more fun.

            Jesus, you really got me.

          • Sal

You’re talking about CoD 3 (console only, buggiest MP ever).

And nice way to prove you’re just following the hivemind! “Why think for myself when I can be a cool kid and hate on the current CoD like everyone else does?”

  • Guywithbrains

I found interesting article from the internet: http://purenews.net/call-duty-advanced-warfare-chance-impress-fans-new-start-new-studio/

Haters should read that article… 😉
