With Supply Drops in Advanced Warfare MP, you can earn many new weapon variants, which change the base weapon with new camos, abilities, and more. The weapons may also contain an attachment which is locked to the variant weapon.

Michael Condrey has confirmed on Twitter today that the locked attachment on those weapons will not count as a point in the Pick 13 system.

I believe that new map we saw in the IGN First teaser video is called ‘Refinery’ and that it is going to be shown off this month.

    • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

“Waiting for host to start game” hopefully they’re playing on LAN/Private Matches.

      • jordanxbrookes

It’ll be played on LAN, but obviously set in Private Match.

      • RdJokr

It says “Private Match” right on top there.

        • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Oh yeah in big text well fuck me.

          • Alex | FamousIsLIVE

Literally the biggest thing in the picture hahaha

      • 111AlaN111

They can’t be playing online, since there are only them.

    • KernosT

Might be called refinery.I think around 17 second they showed another map.

      • HenryDF

        That was Ascend.

    • HenryDF

But it doesn’t look anything like a refinery. I’m not sure why you think it’s called that.

      • jordanxbrookes

Maybe they’ll show 2 new maps, Refinery and then this map. Like with Ghosts where Stonehaven and I think Chasm were shown off. Not sure about the latter though, might have been a different map.

  • This was a question I asked and really wanted to know and I am very pleased with the answer. If I’m going to be forced to have a certain attachment on a weapon like an ACOG I expect to not be punished by losing a point in my pick 13.

    • Michael

Yeah I remember when you asked that. I was concerned about that as well. Sledge Hammer is making great moves and listening to the community which is what we need from game developers because feedback is what makes a great game.

    • Mario Rivera

Shiiit, i would have to put a gun down for good if it was stuck with a acog lol

  • I_HAV2_POOP

    That sounds awesome

  • Naqash Liaqat

Will there be 4-Player offline local splitscreen? Can anyone confirm it?

  • Merffy

    Nice!

That gives you a little more freedom, especially if it’s an attachment that will work well with the weapon.

  • I am happy to hear this news. It makes it more exciting to unlock these weapons variants as it gives you a “free pass” almost. The good thing is that it doesn’t necessarily cause any “OP” concerns as these weapon variants will be available for other players as well.

    • Eh?

Just because something is available to all doesn’t stop it from being OP.

      • I mean that I can see some people saying that if the weapon has good stats to begin with, with built in attachments and then you still get your Pick 13, perhaps people could feel there are chances for OP combinations. However, as these options will be available to everyone, it wouldn’t be OP. Just a passing thought…

        • yoyo

          Eh?

Just because something is available to all doesn’t stop it from being OP.

          • Joeldagod

yes it does, it just make it a matter of who can use it better

          • yoyo

so no gun has ever been OP? You Ghosts fans I swear…

          • If the weapon is the counter to the weapon, it isn’t OP anymore.
OP is something that can’t be countered. At least, as far as I see it.

          • yoyo

yea i know i was being a douche like that other guy, but that is terrible logic. Guns will always be available to all, doesnt mean that there cant one gun that is too good. By that logic there has never been an OP gun in COD. Was the MP40 not OP? Everyone could use it..

  • FearlessGambit

Will it take an attachment slot? So would I have to run gunfighter to get 3 attachments or could I get 4 with gunfighter?

    • otiscleetus

an attachment slot would count against p13. its basically a free attachment…so you could say that these certain weapons make it a p14 but you have to use the attachment they give you.

you could used gunfighter and then have 4 attachments (3 that you pick and 1 that is locked on the weapon)

      • yoyo

        Are you sure?

An attachment slot wouldnt count against the p13. Think about what the p13 system is for a bit. All this means is that now you have one free point that you would have otherwise used for that attachment.

Also, the attachment comes stock, but if you want to run the extra attachment (so that you have 3 attachments overall) you would still have to run primary gunfighter.

*EDIT* Just look at that first pic, it explains pretty much everything for everyone wondering if it uses an attachment slot. It does take away an attachment slot but it doesnt count against the pick 13. They even used primary gunfighter to show how it works.

    • jordanxbrookes

According to Drift0r, it takes up an attachment slot, so Primary Gunfighter would only allow you to take 1 more attachments instead of 2.

  • Alexander Thomas

though i believe you have to use an extra attachment slot to get 3 attachments though

  • SonicDash06

Wait so the locked attachments can be taken off or do they have to stay on.

    • QuickzZ-_-GhosT

      I think they can’t.

    • Rob Schneider

Not trying to be rude or anything but its in the name tbf
      “Locked”

  • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

In the Campaign Mitchell gets a replacement arm, apparently:

    http://i.gyazo.com/241b0fce7b5cba6a9bb65b08081504f0.png

But damn dat future tech, doe. His arm looks good as new.

    • jordanxbrookes

In the future, you can replace your limbs? Maybe they use 3D printers to do the job?

      • RdJokr

Hmm, maybe we can use a 3D printer to copy ourselves in the future.

        • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

          MIND BLOWN.

      • sde

They actually do there was a show on tv about it

    • NextGenNose

Can they replace my broken nose too?

      • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

        Check with Atlas.

    • Keshav Bhat

Yeah, he does. It was in the Induction mission that his arm falls off.

      • jordanxbrookes

*Sliced off. Arms don’t just fall off, that would be silly. 😛

        • MichiganerE

          They do now.

        • jimbobb

          He had leprosy.

        • ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

      • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Yeah I saw it, but I was unsure how it would be replaced. Apparently the technology from the future is so good that they got a literal replica arm for him.

    • Mitch

      Damn I was hoping for a robot-looking arm :'(

  • Michael

Thank the lord. I wouldn’t want a shitty attachment (ex: acog) on my gun that would count towards a point to my pick 13.

    • MichiganerE

But you can’t remove that shitty attachment.

  • Siftblade of Rivia

Catch is, it does take an attachment slot up. Could be good or bad. If it has an attachment you were going to use anyways, you just got an extra point. However, if it had an attachment that wasn’t useful, it’s a waste of an attachment slot.

    • jordanxbrookes

That’s the beauty of it. If you don’t like the locked attachment, you can either use another variant or just use the base weapon.

      • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Wait, you can have multiple variants? The Supply Drops don’t replace the weapons? I need to see them in action.

        • Batman

          Yes, multiple variants

        • Almost every base weapon has 10 variants.

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Yeah, I was just asking if you could pick different variants after you open them, or if you are just stuck with that one variant.

          • Oh, is that what you meant? You can collect all the different variants, and choose from those that you have collected to play with it in-game. Once you unlock a certain variant, you won’t lose it.

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

            Ooh cool beans.

  • jooker-jr

tbh this is not a good news ( IMO ) because one of the ways to balance them ( for example the stronger variant of a weapon ) is to add a useless attachment to it.

    • Charlie

The variants aren’t necessarily better weapons. They are just slightly different. A certain variant might fit your play style more than others, but I don’t think we’ll see a variant that is amazing compared to the base weapon. It’s like taking a weapon like the SC-2010 (high fire rate, low damage) and having a variant that is low fire right, high damage(more like a Remington). To me, it’s just more options.

      • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

They actually change the weapon a bit. It changes the weapon’s stats and gives them strengths, but also give them weaknesses in order to balance them.

        • Charlie

Yeah thats what I mean. Lowering fire rate(weakness) / higher damage (Strength). It’s going to be all about preference.

  • Dean

Hurray, let’s make base weapons completely redundant! :3

  • Sloth

But can you still add 2 attachments like normal or would you have to get the 3 attachments wildcard to attach 2 more attachments?

    • Sloth

Having to use the wildcard would be in itself restricting cause you would have to spend a point for attachments you actually want

      • yoyo

then you wouldnt use that version of the weapon……. I’d probably use the stock weapon or wait until I get the weapon with an attachment I like.

    • Charlie

All this means is using the wildcard would total out at 4 points, rather than 5.
      1 – Weapon
      2, 3 & 4 – Attachments
      5 – Wildcard

Only difference is one attachment is free. So it will be really beneficial if you like a variants stats, and the attachment is useful to you.

  • Black

do you think all “custom weapons” will be unlocked in private games ? at least offline private games ??

    • jooker-jr

      Probably not.

      • Black

That would a shame not to have those in LANs, because it would mean not having those in League Play eventually. :'(

  • tomatoarmy

So could you potentially have 4 attachments on a gun?

  • thebulky1cometh

This whole thing just screams, “people are going to find a dominant class and run with it.”

COD has had trouble balancing weapons when there were fewer weapons/attachments- I simply can’t see them successfully balancing this many combinations.
