Michael Condrey has confirmed on Twitter today that Field Orders will not be returning in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare MP.

Field Orders were introduced in Call of Duty: Ghosts as an extra challenge in-game, and the rewards were earned through a care package and varied by maps.

Good riddance. The field orders were way to tedious.

    • iext23

I agree. Not much fun when you got them either.

      • Bruce Wayne

I always got something useless like a dog which dies in 10 seconds

        • iTYPE2ANNOY

and then there’s the people who get the super dog who runs around by himself killing the entire enemy team using ninja stealth and 50 foot super lunge

  • Primey_

    Good

  • Biscuits4Life

Good. The only thing these did was further encourage camping.

    • Ed

maybe the “get a kill while prone” one, but otherwise, i don’t think they did at all. maybe i’m just forgetting because i haven’t played in a month or two.

      • Batman

Yes they do. If you play safe while carrying it, you might earn a KEM

        • Ed

only on strike zone, though… which other maps have a kem as a field order? maybe i’m wrong, because i haven’t played much on any of the dlc maps.

          • Dean Cowan

You could get one on every map. I’m pretty sure you could get every killstreak, but there’s about 5 useful and no fun killstreaks in Ghosts so I can’t remember. Remember when we got rewarded for being good? Remember lodestar, warship and swarm setup? Now we have the SAT COM, Guard dog and Battle hind setup. Jesus ghosts is shit.

          • Ed

yes, you could earn a true KEM on every map with 25 kills without dying… but Strike Zone is the only map that had a KEM as a possible reward for completing a Field Order.

          • Dean Cowan

How come I got one on Warhawk?

          • Ed

You are mistaken. You can get “Mortar Fire” from a field order, not a KEM on Warhawk.

you can earn a true KEM on Warhawk, but can’t get one from a field order.

  • Guest

    Good, I didn’t like them.

  • iext23

Not very fun when you got them either, in my opinion. Didnt do very much.

  • Mitch

Personally I liked the idea behind Field Orders, I just think IW executed them wrong. They should give you something small like an UAV/SAT-COM or CUAV and not some high streak or something map specific. You could even give just additional points so people get their streak quicker or just a huge XP bonus like 5k XP.

    • Personally, I think there should have been a field order challenge named “PTFO”. Reward: over 9000 internet points

    • Autocorrect

They had to give you anything because there are no care package killstreaks

    • GamerSam99

I found them to be too distracting. They were a good idea, but I’m fine without them.

    • HenryDF

I think there should have been Care Packages as a killstreak in Ghosts, but there still should have been Field Orders as well.

The Field Order Care Packages could have given you a chance at getting something map-specific (Michael Myers, Dogs, Predator etc.), or you could have got something terrible instead like a SAT-COM.

With the normal, killstreak Care Packages, you would have had the normal chances at getting anything as seen throughout all CoD games with Care Packages, but no chance at getting the Field Order specific rewards.

    • UpRiftCOD

Or if you completed them, you could get things like customizton, camos and maybe xp boosts. Then people would be running for the.

    • Potato Republic

      I have a love/hate relationship with them.

I liked the creativeness behind them, but I.W just cut killstreaks and put them in blue suitcases you can only earn once per game.

For example, the A-10 Strafe was going to be in the game originally, but they cut it from the game and added it as a field order in DLC.

      Fucking I.W…

    • David Sync

They say that map based streaks were “rare” yah…. kem strike 5 mins in the game is so damn rare

    • Alex | FamousIsLIVE

      Infinity Ward executes life wrong.

  • CraziBoi94

    Field spawn death lul.

    • Aymen Skiken

      #spawnkillFTW #rekt

  • “YAYAYYYY” (every unreasonable Ghosts hater) Don’t see what’s wrong with Field Orders at all. They added a nice touch of freshness while allowing Call of Duty to explore the new possibilities of Interactive Maps. Sad to see them gone for now, I’ll miss you Michael Myers

    • Siftblade of Rivia

I liked the interactive maps (the stuff like calling in a map specific streak, like on Showtime or the stuff where you call in a motar strike). What I did not like was turning into map specific characters or calling stuff in (becoming predator, calling ghost pirates to follow you, etc.)

      • jordanxbrookes

Yeah, even though Call of Duty isn’t meant to be real, Predator, Mike Myers and fucking Ghost Pirates is just silly.

        • Agreed. It was neat at first and a cool experiment but overall it just got cheap and annoying

          • jordanxbrookes

Exactly, it was fun to play around with at first, but then it just got silly, I mean come on, Ghost Pirates? Really? REALLY? http://33.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m6frbfvGaA1rnvapzo1_500.gif

          • haha

          • MichiganerE

Agreed. In fact, I’d rather play a Modern Warfare 4 instead of a motherfucking Ghosts 2.

          • jordanxbrookes

I like the Ghosts campaign, not keen on its multiplayer. To be honest, Infinity Ward should have just went with Modern Warfare 4 instead of Ghosts. At least then I know I would enjoy it since I enjoyed MW3.

          • MichiganerE

I thought Ghosts’ campaign was mediocre, and I thought the multiplayer sucked. Yep, at least with MW4, even if it was based off of MW3’s multiplayer, at least it would of been fun – Ghosts was insanely boring, even with 18 players, I gave up on it back in January and sold it.

          • Bartram22

            Amen to that

          • JoZer805g

MW4 wouldn’t been possible since MW3 ended the series with the death of Makarov who was around in Call of Duty 4 but not seen.

          • jordanxbrookes

Modern Warfare 4 can be possible as a prequel. There was a 5-year gap between the end of Call of Duty 4 and the start of Modern Warfare 2. Why not fill that gap up?

          • Call of Duty with prequels? I don’t think that’s a bad idea.
Modern Warfare series are complete, as much as we would like MW4 instead of Ghosts… It won’t happen -sniff sniff-

          • Well it’s a good idea, now that CoD’s using single person narratives for the campaigns, It would be possible to play that five year gap between MW1 and MW2, as Soap, and the 141 once again. Just give it another branding like Modern Operations or some other shitty generic title.

          • MichiganerE

Call of Duty: Modern Wafare: The Pre-sequel: The Inbetween: The Before And After: Super Limited Micro-Transactions Fish A.I. That Move Out Of The Way When You Get Close To Them… Edition..

            There, the perfect title.

          • Autocorrect

That would be the best cod news I’ve heard in a forever

          • MichiganerE

            Yep.

    • Dean Cowan

Yeah, being on a 16 killstreak then a level 4 gets killed, then he “gets humiliated” so the player on the enemy team gets a care package that contains a KEM is something I want.

      • Yeah, well IW’s stupid for giving out MOAB’s left right and center. If they were to be back, they would act just as care package, with the respective map streaks in it too. Maybe add a smidgen higher of a percentage towards higher streaks, due to it’s semi-rarity.

    • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

“Crouch on an enemy after you kill them” ring a bell? Field Orders were retarded. They were gimmicks. Nothing more.

      • 111AlaN111

Field Orders weren’t retarded. You’re saying that the WAY of getting the field order is retarded.

        • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

          are* retarded.

And no, the Field Order idea in itself is retarded and gimmicky.

          • 111AlaN111

Why are the field orders retarded?

I just think that they should be less OP and don’t give you a KEM almost always, but aside of that they’re great in my opinion.

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

            Because they’re gimmicks.

          • 111AlaN111

But they’re good gimmicks. They’re not bad.

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

            They give you KEMs.

          • 111AlaN111

I already told you that it’s the only downside of field orders.

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

And because it’s gimmicky. It was a stupid idea to begin with.

          • 111AlaN111

            Not a stupid idea.

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

IW can’t code worth a shit, so they added Field Gimmicks to give you the illusion that there are actual dynamics to the maps. It was very stupid.

      • Baruck obuma

yep getting a KEM just for tea-bagging

      • Diego Diniz

“Crouch on an enemy after you kill them”…but whe you run for him and somebody kill you…im pretty sure you scream “FUCK…NO!!!”

  • So Riley is not coming back?
    🙁

    • At least not from a care package that has been dropped from a helicopter.

      • MichiganerE

Yep, that’s retarded. How the hell does a dog just pop out of a care package dropped dozens of feet from the ground? There’s no logic behind that.

        • Whoa

If your looking for logic in a cod game this shooter isn’t for you.

          • MichiganerE

Isn’t for me? I’ve been a fan since CoD 1, (you’ve probably never played it) and every CoD game up to BO2 has had logic behind it, even Zombies has logic behind. Field Orders don’t.

          • CoD isn’t a logical game. A head shot with an AR/SMG won’t kill you but a C4 30 feet from you will? Its an arcade shooter and it will always be like that.

          • MichiganerE

            No shit.

          • Neither is Battefield.
*Gets shot with an RPG at point blank range*
*Gets revived by the medic and is good as new*

          • iTYPE2ANNOY

I don’t think you know what an “arcade shooter” is….it’s definitely not an “arcade shooter” if this is multiplayer, you probably could have had a better choice of words.

          • MrT

Because drinking soda makes u reload faster or have more health, and story was just toys… You call the dog and it just magically appears. No pop out of care package animation

          • MichiganerE

Everything in Zombies is explained with reason. No matter how weird it may be, there’s at least a logical explanation behind it. That’s why I said, “every CoD game up to BO2 has had logic behind it, even Zombies has logic behind. Field Orders don’t.”, as in, logic died with Ghosts.

          • Dean Cowan

It’s a cod game. A game where 12 players are drop in a small/medium sized placed with enhancements from a “perk” and a gun that has a gold camo. Because that’s logical? I guess logic is a relative thing.

          • MichiganerE

Maybe the soldiers were given abilities in training? They do make sense in AW.

          • HenryDF

Zombies logic? Drinking soda gives you boosts? Zombies made out of electricity? Being able to get a gun off chalk on a wall? A ray gun? A gun you can fire at the ground, and you can fly?

You’re making me feel like you’re taking a dig at Ghosts just for the sake of taking a dig at Ghosts.

          • Siftblade of Rivia

Well all that stuff has an explanation and a story behind it, I think that’s what he means. Except maybe the Tranzit gun, though that was shit and I try to block the Tranzit part of my memory out of my mind. In the end, Zombies is sci-fi and obviously not realistic, but it does have an explanation and some logic behind it. Whereas teabagging an enemy in order to turn into Michael Myers was a little too ridiculous for my taste.

          • MichiganerE

Perk-A-Colas were created with 115. Electric Zombies were created with 115. Samantha, the announcer, controls everything like a game, which is why wall weapons exist. Dr. Maxis, one of the characters, created the Ray Gun with 115. Also created with 115. So yes, there is logic behind Zombies.

          • iTYPE2ANNOY

he’s referring to Ghosts and that stupid dog that appears out of thin air

          • MichiganerE

            Yeah, it’s retarded.

  • boldcyclonus

Is that the ameli LMG? That gun is terrible in COD Ghost

    • Well the Lynx is back so maybe.

      • boldcyclonus

The LYNX is back. I love that rifle.

    • jordanxbrookes

I like the Ameli, I feel rewarded getting a kill with it knowing everyone else uses low recoil cheap weapons.

    • Axel Noir

Fuck you. That gun was awesome !

  • Eh, btw… There’s no last gen -> current gen upgrade this time am I right?

  • Jim Bobert

I was pumped for Advanced Warfare until I found out there is cloaking in multiplayer. COD has had it’s share of bird brained ideas in the past but putting cloaking in what looked to be a fantastic game blows my f’ing mind. Whoever decided to add that obviously isn’t familiar with how kids love to abuse the cheapest crap in the game. No way my friends and I buy a COD game with cloaking in MP. I’m sure it will be banned in eSports though. I guess I’ll have to wait to see what Treyarch does next year. :/

    • jordanxbrookes

*Buys the Atlas Pro Edition anyway*

    • Its not that bad if you think about it. Trust me. Im a very hardcore gamer/cod player. I was scared too. But knowing that it runs out in like three seconds and the things dont recharge, it should not be too annoying. Plus its still fairly easy to see a cloaked enemy.

      • Dean Cowan

Yeah, it seems just as good, or even worse than the rest of the things(forgot what they’re called)

      • Peyton Barnes

i think, but dont take my word to the grave, you can see the gun still

        • im not sure…..I dont think you can..but you may be right

    • Siftblade of Rivia

The fact that others could turn not even fully invisible for about 5 seconds makes you not want to play the game?

      • Dean Cowan

        Did he say that? No!

        • Siftblade of Rivia

Yeah he did. He won’t buy the game because of cloaking, which doesn’t even turn you fully invisible and lasts 3-5 seconds.

          • Dean Cowan

Aw right, I read that at like 4 in the morning. Didn’t see it said “makes you NOT” part, sorry lol.

          • Siftblade of Rivia

            It’s okay. (:

    • TheShadowReaper

wow, what a bird minded individual. “wont buy AW cause cloaking is OP SHIIIAT!” really? if you have payed any attention to the trailers and coverage
      1) its cloaking, not invisibility. i could see that thing even if i was blind. you can too.
      2) it runs out in 4-5 seconds and doesnt recharge. that’s what you get for every life. 4-5 seconds.
      3) if you are using cloaking you are sacrificing all the rest exo abilities options. which are actually stronger than cloaking imo. cloaking probably will be for every special ninja defuse classes and nothing else.

still not interested because of an exo ability? your loss, now gtfo.

      • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

This community will abuse literally everything.

        • TheShadowReaper

they always do but i find it funny how you can abuse a 5 seconds cloaking exo perk. maybe in TDM and S&D but i dont see it having a lot of success. i will be using it myself tho. i always have that “all suppressed” class so it will be useful there.

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

It’s a balanced EXO ability, but there’s also a perk that can make you cloak longer. Then there’s the perks like Ghost/Cold-Blooded.

      • cRi7iCaL

Yup, we’re talking about 4-5 seconds per life. If someone wanted to abuse it he’d have to die every single time after to recharge. But is that really worth it?

        • TheShadowReaper

exactly my point. is it worth? + you probably can use it once in a S&D game to get a kill. (assuming you get the kill, you are really visible from what i’ve seen in videos)

          • satish pydikondala

don’t forget shadow that if you shoot with cloak on you will go back to being visible

          • Peyton Barnes

            true
            all true
            unlike most haters comments

      • Peyton Barnes

wow i hardly ever agree with you ShadowReaper but your right

        • TheShadowReaper

if you hardly ever agree with me because i trash talk consoles then i guess that’s true. you hardly ever agree with me. although i speak only the truth. truth is indeed hard to accept.

      • iTYPE2ANNOY

or instead of telling him to GTFO, you could inform him as to why he should not be worried about cloaking (as you did) but then invite him to stay, so we can all be friends and happy

    • Batman

Are you retarded or something. Cloak lasts for like 5 seconds and you can only use it once and you are not completely cloaked

    • fires

Everyone at the multiplayer said cloak was under powered shit. And one of the least useful. But if you play snd, the exocloak, parabolic mic, and tracing rounds are have changers nevertheless for and.

    • Keshav Bhat

You do realize that when you’re cloaked you have an outline around you and it’s pretty easy to see that person? Also, when you’re cloaked, the moment you shoot your weapon, you lose your cloak and can be seen again, regardless of what the battery charge is at. Plus the battery dies pretty fast and with all the boast jump, dodge etc, cloaking will be one of the least of my concerns in this game.

      • Run N Gunning Camper

You got to realize that some players are so bad, even if you’re right in front of them, it takes them a second or two to realize you’re not friendly. Now add a tiny bit of cloak into the equation and they are totally at lost.

        • Dean Cowan

That’s their problem though. Why are you complaining about that?

  • curi0us

    I won’t miss them.

  • Guest

    ghosts 2 confirmed 🙂

    • iTYPE2ANNOY

      why

  • Batman

    I loved those, but anyways..

  • Maverick

I didn’t love them, but I didn’t hate them. I won’t really miss them either. One thing I would like to see more of is the contracts (or whatever they were called) from Black Ops 1.

    • MichiganerE

That wouldn’t work without the CoD Credit system. Besides, they encouraged people to go earn them instead of playing the objective.

      • Maverick

You don’t need the credit system. You can just award XP or supply drops. I don’t see these encouraging any different behavior than what challenges already do. They are basically mini time related challenges, and most were based around just using certain weapons.

        • MichiganerE

          I suppose.

  • Axel Noir

    #fuckfieldorders

  • Respect Reb

The shame is that they have care packages instead. In fact in older article I thought it said something about the mid game map chamher beimg in a care package. The field order would better by far. In fact I liked them…except the bs kill all ones.

    • How can a Care Package be a game changer?

      • Im talking about like the strikezone kem…where it causes the map to change by a massive event that kills the enemy team. That will change the game.
I thought in an article I saw something about them putting that in a care package instead now. I do not like that idea though.

  • jooker-jr

The idea is cool but the way they did it is wrong ( like getting a kem from it )

Btw : why there aren’t the digital pro edition, the season pass, and the day zero edition for cod AW in the EU/UK/SA ps store ??

    • mixamax

yeah i tried to get it too but it wasn’t available… 🙁 same problem here i guess #SA

    • iTYPE2ANNOY

I was about to order the digital pro edition, I saw them available on callofduty.com

  • AmishHippo

I’m just waiting for that World at War reboot.

  • guest

The field orders would have been great. Oh well, at least we have our care packages back.

  • Field Orders are NOT returning in Advanced Warfare MP
” And the best developers of the year award goes to…
    Sledgehammer games! ”

    • Diego Diniz

MW3 was made by Sledgehammer and isTHE WORST COD EVER!!!

      • They worked on the Story mode, which was one of the most emotionally wrenching campaign.

        • Diego Diniz

Im talking about MULTIPLAYER mode. MW3 is the Worst ever!

          • Okay, so you’re unfairly throwing SHG under the bus, even though they had nothing to do with MW3’s broken MP.

Do you know how much of a fucking retard you sound like?

          • Diego Diniz

Broken MP, Horrible Maps, horrible streaks, horrible Guns sound, horrible EVERYTHING on that Game!

          • That still is an invalid argument lol. Raven worked with IW on the MP of MW3… Sledgehammer worked exclusively on SP. You’re pointing the finger in the wrong direction.

          • Okay, I’m done with you. Go fuck yourself buddy.

          • Diego Diniz

Easy dude. Thats my opinion…not yours.

          • No it isn’t. It’s fact that Sledgehammer worked solely on SP, and you’re trashing them for something they had nothing to do with. Everything is just in one ear and out the other. You’re a waste of time.

      • Underdog BO1 FTW!

They worked on story you idiot…

      • Peyton Barnes

please mw3 worst cod ever -laugh- multplayer-decent ,spec ops-below average,campaign-best ever (besides blops 1) and answer me this how many have you been dropped on your head

        • Diego Diniz

Decent Multiplayer??? Just get the map “Terminal” from MW2 and see the piece of crap they did on MW3.

          • Peyton Barnes

I played MW3 and MW2 the map was good on both games i played every cod so i think i know what im talking about

          • Diego Diniz

I played every COD too. IN fact, COD is THE ONLY GAME I play everyday. I know every detail since COD4, and I can say…COD4 and MW2 was THE BESTS EVER! MW3 the worst…

      • They only assisted making it, because Activision couldn’t finish it until deadline.
Talk about rushed piece of crap.

      • iTYPE2ANNOY

Ghosts was officially declared “The Worst COD Ever”

    • Yoink!

Yet, you’ve not played their game and their game isn’t even released yet. The thing that I laugh at in the CoD community is people who say “This year’s CoD game will be the best ever” etc. Play the game before you judge it and the developers who made it. SHG are doing things right it seems though which is good but I wouldn’t go as far and say they are the best developers.

      • That was a joke.
You must have a very slim sense of humor.

    • iTYPE2ANNOY

      nice picture choice lol wow

  • xiSpeedy

    field orders are dumb

  • Oreo

Obviously they wouldn’t return if they already have carepackages as a scorestreak.

  • Thought field orders were an genius idea. Don’t understand the hate in the comments below

    • curi0us

It’s just one of those things people either liked, or people hated. I would always pick up field orders since it was free points and in some cases a care package, but I never really liked how they were implemented.

  • Rorke File

    I love you

    • iTYPE2ANNOY

      I love you too.

  • NuttyTheSquirrel

    Nice.

    • iTYPE2ANNOY

      thanks

  • Aaron V

Good, Field Orders won’t be missed. It was a horrible idea to help “Mix things up”.

  • field orders is shit not in AW its good ^^

  • Danny-boi01

Praise the almighty sledge hammer I hated the field orders nothing but satcoms or pointless map streaks like that gas on sovereign I like the idea of the orbital care package more

  • Josh

Yes!!! Field orders is another reason for campers to camp more 😛

  • Unit

    THANK YOU LAWD

  • TG Wolf

    Thank. Fucking. God.

Excellent news! Another smart move from Sledgehammer who seem to have better knowledge of the franchise and the community as a whole as opposed to IW who are clueless and useless. Field Orders were the worst idea – getting a OP killstreak or KEM for practically doing nothing e.g teabagging, right at the start of the game was a stupid implementation.

What you talking about? I’ve always wanted fish A.I and more hairs on my characters arms, don’t you? *Cough, Cough*

Am I the only one that doesn’t have the showtime 24/7 playlist on the ps3

More intersting imo is “Atlas Custom Exo”

      • HenryDF

Hmm…it must just be the name. If we were able to customize exos, that’d have been a big part of the news we have already.

        • Siftblade of Rivia

I can hope, though. It can’t be that hard to just let us choose a primary color and a secondary color in a color palette to put them on a gun in a default pattern that SH designs.

  • Underdog BO1 FTW!

Nice! No more killstreaks for noobs. I remember i always struggle when i just started, can’t even get a 3,5,7 Killstreaks.
Now everything is easy for me. Noobs should feel this struggles!

  • Grenada!

Thank god. It provoked people to camp so they could get their care package and it also took away from the small competitive feel that CoD has left.

Given how broken GHOSTS MP was, and the drop in popularity, Field Orders were just another half-baked element of the game that the developers nor the players never capitalized on. With the MP gaming environment, Field Orders were often ignored by gamers I knew, and myself especially.

  • NeonPhyzics

I think the field orders were fine – but they should be little fun strikes (counter-sat coms, anti-air, etc), not KEMs and stuff like that. If they wanted to have a Preditor, Michael Myers, etc. they should have created a “MAP STREAK” at like 13 kills which you picked in your load out. THAT would have made going for high streaks fun and rewarding. NOthing worse then some kid going 2-10 and getting a KEM strike because he teabagged someone he killed with his IED

  • Alex | FamousIsLIVE

Keeping this game as far away from Ghosts as possible is a good thing.

  • Dicklick

Decent idea, piss poor execution. If they were to drop things like exclusive patches/backgrounds or XP boosts or something, i wouldn’t have minded it. I can’t stand the map based ones, seeing as how 90% of them are useless. I don’t think i’ve ever gotten a single kill using the Whiteout Field Order, and i’m max prestige.

  • that guy you see on the bus

it is good that they are keeping map kill streaks otherwise this game’s maps would suck
