Glen Schofield has confirmed on Twitter that Advanced Warfare’s campaign storyline is “longer than the last few” Call of Duty campaigns. Call of Duty campaigns have been coming in varying with each iteration of the franchise.

Michael Condrey also talked about it in a recent IGN video (17:55 mark on this video) saying, “The campaign is longer than your usual Call of Duty campaigns.”

• If I typed first I would have been πŸ™ Stupid sentences….

• Sniper

I was typing when your comment came up lol. GG you beat me tithe punch

• I like this. Call of Duty campaigns are great and having them longer is amazing

• Sal

MP is the selling point for me but I make sure I beat the campaign before I even touch the MP. Been doing that since MW2; maybe since CoD4.

Good Campaigns(IMO): 4,MW2,and Ghosts (MW3 was solid)
Bad Campains: WaW,Blops1 and Blops 2. I thought Blops2 was god awful; blops1 being a close second to that. I don’t even remember WaW.

AW’s SP is looking good but I’m skeptical since blops2 campaign seemed like it was going to be awesome…but It wasn’t.

• WTEO

You thought the Black Ops campaigns were bad? I respect your opinion, but man I thought that Black Ops 1’s campaign was the best one to date . Black ops 2 wasn’t as good, but still decent in my opinion.

• Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

But does it deserve the best Campaign of all time award? No.

• Autocorrect

MW2 gets that one!

• Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Lol MW2 was just as linear as the other ones.

• Uzair

Cod 4 was the best campaign.

• WTEO

I never said it did, dingleberry.

• Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

*sigh* doesn’t matter, not sure if I was even replying to you. Can’t remember.

• WTEO

• Sal

***spoiler warning***

Lol. I wasn’t a fan of the whole “numbers” thing. Story wasn’t interesting; too much spy stuff. Especially the anti-climatic ending of drowning the bad guy in inches of water…lol. Nothing compares to when you had to rip the knife out of Soap and throw it in that one dude’s eye at the end of MW2.

Only good things about Blops1 story for me was Frank Woods; even in blops2 Frank was great; both old and young. Everything else was shit and boring. Don’t kill me lol.

MW2 had just the right amount of crazy action.

• AJ-SLACKER

Lmao buy thats the whole point of “BLACK OPS”…. black operations… like.. what did you expect? And besides it was within an era whereΒ spying was a necessity to do. But i mean…. everyone has they’re likings. I thought it was Great. Specially the MP… MW2 was ok but the kills were too fast and toooooooo many hit markers lol

• Sal

I buy every CoD to begin with primarily for MP so it wasn’t whether or not what I was getting myself into.

SP is secondary for me. MP is primary. Even though I play SP first.

So whether it was called Black Ops and it was about black ops or it was called Heli Ops and SP was about Helicopters, it doesnt make a difference to me. If its CoD and an FPS, I am getting it. Lol.

The funny part is that I skipped WaW cause i despised the fact they were going back to WW2 so when Blops1 was coming out I refused to get it up until the last couple of weeks before it came out because it was Vietnam and not modern(little did i know at the time). That is when I preorded it.

• WTEO

That’s the only complaint I would give to Black Ops 1, is the ending was a little bit anti-climactic. But even then I personally didn’t mind it, because it made sense. MW2 was had a good campaign too, but I just wasn’t as emotionally invested in it as I was with the Black Ops series. It was still a lot of fun though.

As far as BO2’s campaign goes, I loved that the campaign branched. Also, I thought that Raul Menendez was a badass villain. One of the best in COD history in my opinion.

• Sal

I thought Raul was fucking annoying at some points. His background was unique and the actor was solid but everything else? Not so much.

The whole drone take over thing was over hyped and I didnt like the fact that it happened towards the end of the game, I was ready for absolute chaos.

Lol. We are truly at opposite ends. All Good though xD

• RdJokr

The Black Ops campaigns were outstanding to me, even though they semi-botched Black Ops II. They could’ve panned things out a bit, and went deep into explaining all the unsolved mysteries of the first BO, but boy did they rush things up.

• TheShadowReaper

i’m sorry but if you think that the Black Ops series campaigns were bad and Ghosts was good you must have a loose screw in your head. or you arent smart enough to understand what’s going on in the campaign. 3arc had the balls to release a game with a campaign that doesnt spoon feed you what is happening. it seems you dont like that since you’re not smart enough for it.

• Brandalf

“You have different tastes and preferences than me, therefor I must insult your intelligence to make myself feel superior!”

• RdJokr

ShadowReaper has a point though. Ghosts’ campaign is really inferior compared to Modern Warfare and Black Ops. The only way I could see someone liking it is if they’ve never actually played the previous campaigns before.

• Sal

I’ve played CoD2 SP, skipped CoD3 SP and been playing the SP since CoD4 up until Ghosts.

For me, IW are the only guys to make a good SP. I think the MP for Ghost is clouding judgements over its SP. SP was fine, MP sucked.

IW actually knows how to end there campaigns with me going “wow”.

• Brandalf

Ghosts is definitely one of the weaker COD campaigns, along with MW2(IMO). But there is no need to insult others because they have different preferences than you as ShadowReaper did.

• Sal

I understood a lot about Blops1. Doesn’t make it a good COD campaign. Lol.

With all the intel, lore behind it and how he was the one who killed JFK(or whatever) is all cool stuff but actually playing it? Nah, wasnt for me.

Go play MGS if you want crazy storylines and I adore MGS because of it’s story and characters.

Treyarch creates the better MP experiences because they are more willing to actually change the MP experience then IW is.

IW creates the better SP experience probably because of how standard they are and unwilling to make anything crazy and just put more action into it and good acting.

• TheShadowReaper

while i agree with 3arc being a boss when it comes to MP, i have to disagree that IW makes better campaign modes. the fact of the matter is that, if you like to get spoon fed then IW is for you. which is alright, i accept it. their campaigns are really great especially COD4 and MW3. but 3arc not only doesnt spoon fed you but actually needs you to think a little bit, which is the cool part about their campaign modes. if you dont like to think while playing its your right man, glad that you like it that way. but i dont want to hear you bashing 3arc for actually having the balls to make a script equally good as Fight Club. and yes, i did compare BO to Fight Club.

• Sal

When I am playing a CoD campaign, I do not want to think because it is CoD for a reason. Its cool that you do though.

I like the lore from Zombies more then anything. Blops2 was going in a good direction with all the side missions, multiple endings and jumping back and forth between timelines but the actual story was crap.

When I am playing a MGS campaign, I want to think a lot because it is MGS for a reason.

Hey, if i think Blops1,2, and WaW had trash campaigns, then they do in my opinion. Not about having balls. Having balls when it comes to a CoD campaign is what SH is trying to do with AW; jumping 50 years in the future and having you experience a soliders life over the span of 10 years ingame, but I’ll stay skeptical.

If you like Treyarch SP, cool but I don’t.

• TheShadowReaper

i really hate it when people say that they dont like 3arc’s work. they put so much effort in it. but hey at least you understand and dont spam me with “3arc sucks ballz lmfao” so props to you. enjoy what you will.

• Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

World at War was beautifully written. I just love the writing that the Russians had.

• Rabiddddddd

WAW and bo1 over mw3 and ghosts? You’re crazy.

• Autocorrect

MW2 probably had the most missions I could play over and over. Ghosts MP is boring, so I go to campaign and there are literally no missions I want to play again. MW2 had Gulag, Museum, whatever the last one is called, Loose Ends, No Russian, the list goes on.

• I wasnt a huge fan of BO2’s either. I like them all but BO2 was really only cool imo because all the different endings. To me the worst has to be…..hmmmm……MW3. Just didn’t have those solid moments other than soap dying. Im caught between Ghosts and Black Ops One as my favorite. If you understand the story in BO1 it is realllly well done and crazy. But Ghosts was the most cinematic campaign of all of them. WaW is for sure up there too though. I love the gritty feel of WWII.

• Daniel

BO campaigns were flawless.
MW and Ghosts didnt have any story+recycled moments from each other for example slow motion breaching….

• Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Call of Duty Campaigns, besides Call of Duty 4, are NOT amazing. They’re far too linear/on-rails.

• fires

i think linear campaign as opposed to a non linear campaign is purely preference besides it being good or not.

• Sniper

• Penguin-Kun

How come you’re not a moderator anymore? Or for now at least?

• jordanxbrookes

Me and Alex are still Mods, it’s just Keshav felt people were annoyed that us two were Mods and they weren’t.

• TheShadowReaper

i still believe you should bring back your mod tags but its entirely up to you…

• jordanxbrookes

It’s up to what Keshav, Pete and Victor feel.

• TheShadowReaper

ok, i get it.

• David Sync

About time too, i hate finishing a campaign in a day or less

• Juses

So 6 hours and 30 minutes? πŸ˜›

• MichiganerE

No, 6 hours and 30 minutes and 1 second long.

• Drasadex

Will it be like Black Ops 2 where you can branch the story or no? I actually liked that about BO2.

• Jesse

No. Sorry to say it but they have already confirmed that is a No.

• Drasadex

Oh alright. Thanks!

• Jesse

Love playing the COD Campaigns and although Ghosts was not my favorite I really loved the Underwater mission and the Space mission near the end. Really hope there are moments similar to those in the Advanced Warfare Campaign.

• MichiganerE

This is good news. After the lengths of MW3, BO2 and Ghosts, we need a longer campaign. I’m also hoping the campaign isn’t generic as shit like Ghosts was.

• Juses

I hope it’s good because “long”campaigns do not = good

• Siftblade of Rivia

Looks like they put a lot of effort into it this year. Longer campaign, interesting story, and big actors like Kevin Spacey. Plus some awesome stuff like upgrading your exo and abilities like the grapple should be fun to use. Can’t wait to play.

• MichiganerE

I didn’t say that longer campaigns equal “good”, I’m happy that we’re getting a longer campaign. I also state that “I’m also hoping the campaign isn’t generic as shit like Ghosts was.”

• TheShadowReaper

it has Kevin Spacey. no fucking way it can be bad. i mean…its fucking Kevin Spacey man! how could they possibly fuck this up?

• MichiganerE

Because of Activision.

• NextGenNose

• WTEO

For once I’m actually somewhat looking forward to the campaign, after 3 years of work it had better be good. Ghosts was such a crock of shit, and thanks to the ending of it, there’s probably going to be a Ghosts 2 πŸ™

• Seven

Well the co-op lasting appeal obviously isn’t as long as the new campaign

• Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

I bet people are going to play Co-Op for 30 minutes and then go back to MP, never touching the god awful Co-Op mode again.

• Spodermen

Awful? MW3 was one of the co op modes that required actual skill instead of training enemies without any real defense or just sitting in a corner shooting them.

• Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

MW3 was one of the most linear games ever… even in its Co-Op modes… They were terrible. Actual skill? There’s no incentive to do anything. At least you start Zombies rounds knowing what to do.

• Spodermen

At least Exovival doesn’t involve either training mindless mooks or sitting in a corner with all the perks mowing them down. Survival actually makes you think, because the enemies shoot back, and unlike extinction’s medic perk vs scorpions, there is no counter to lead.

• Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

No, but Exo Survival is the most repetitive out of any Co-Op mode and is also the most boring. If I wanted to play against humans, I’d play the other modes. Survival is lame.

At least there’s strategy in Zombies.

• Spodermen

Repetitive? So training zombies to get to high rounds and camping in corners isn’t?

• Whoa

That sounds great! Call of duty campaign is always a great summer blockbuster experience! (Except Ghost)

• Whoa

Has anybody seen any tweets on Michael Condreys response to the community response to the Co-Op reveal? Or has he still not talked about it due to the backlash?

• Siftblade of Rivia

Schofield said give it a chance. They’re obviously not afraid to answer to harsh criticism, as they’ve done it twice now (people upset that it was so futuristic and copying other games) and now co-op. I hope they don’t pull a Mark Rubin.

• Whoa

Thank You.

• MichiganerE

Oh, they will. Be prepared for them to block everyone starting on Nov. 3/4.

• Jimmeh

I know this pertains nothing to CoD, but I think we need some mods (looking at you Jordan and Diabetus) over at the other blogs that Keshav and the CI team has (the Destiny Blog). It’s so toxic in the comments section.

Best CoD campaigns (in my opinion)
1. MW2- No Russian, General Shepard and all the US in Washington DC missions. Superb ending that should have been lead into a better sequel.
2. MW1- Badass campaign, great storyline that was both long and made sense. Got to shoot a mans arm off, final chase seen and the Nuke… What else is there to say.
3. CoD 1- Introduces the series with a bang, car chase scene that inspired CoD 4’s ending. Also took place with multiple factions. Russians were good guys too.
4. Black Ops- Dark, mysterious and a great storyline worthy of Hollywood, this really brought in a deeper and more extravagant tone to the already established CoD franchise.
5. World at War- Last good campaign, very dark, hopeless, sniper mission was great, the Russians missions and fantastic and the ending American mission was played out perfectly. Also unlocked the famous Nazi Zombies mode as well. Longest and most gory campaign of them all.
Ghosts sucked, only liked the twist ending.
BO2, terrible with killing off Mason (not really) and not linking Reznov to him when did play as him. Made Woods a dumbass and too many central characters and villains that come out of nowhere half the time.
MW3, worst campaign, made Task Force 141 look like retards, killed off Soap, put Yuri in at bullshit moments and derailed the franchise. Also made Americans look even dumber when trying to save the Russian president, the only upside to it was playing as Frost. That character is badass.

• LovekillerX

Yeah MW1 and MW2 campaigns are on of the best in the series. Especially those Washington DC missions and the ending in MW2.

• kyr95

Price vs. Sheperd: Best final fight.

• LovekillerX

That is true. But also I liked MW3 where Price killed Makarov by hanging him. πŸ™‚

• kyr95

Oh, that was brutal! >:D

• LovekillerX

Yeah but it saddens me that Soap died and Price took all the credit. πŸ™ But it is better than nothing.

• kyr95

If only we could have a Modern Warfare; Operation kingfish game.

• LovekillerX

Yeah that would be cool.

• TheShadowReaper

imo COD4 and BO have the best campaigns in the franchise. and except Ghosts, all the rest COD games have really good campaigns too. especially WaW. 3arc are masters of dark themed hardcore storylines with blood and gore and it shows right there. and i believe COD4 and BO have the best campaigns cause they approach their element the best way possible. especially BO. i really felt i was in the motherfucking cold war when i was playing the campaign of that game.

• Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

I don’t know of any gunfights in the Cold War, though, but I loved the World War II missions.

Look at this bullshit though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfeF1ryDfjQ it got the best ending award. -___-

• TheShadowReaper

wow they awarded it with a guinness? well i know its good but…not THAT good. lol. you know, i wont see the video. the mustached asshole that made probably bashes the BO campaign so he can get views. he can shove his video and his opinion as far as he wants up his ass for all that i’m concerned.

well, its the cold war…but happening differently. where the fun would be in talking politics instead of shooting in a shooter game, right? also that’s why it has a lot of stealth or run and get objective missions. its the cold war, you dont see nukes being dropped like bad habits.

• Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

You don’t watch AlphaOmegaSin? Seriously, watch that video, and his other videos. I love rants and metal, and AlphaOmegaSin’s channel is full of both. He had every right to complain.

Yeah, it’s a fictitious Cold War, and it’s believable. But I felt that Black Ops’s Campaign, like the other CoD games, was too short.

• Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Watch Razorfist’s review lolo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNp-JcitJf8 so much truth.

• DopeAap

are you acting autistic on purpose?

• MichiganerE

What the hell does being autistic have to do with my comment?

• DopeAap

everything

• MichiganerE

No, stop being an idiot.

• Rainel “r41n3LL” Mark

no I mean CaC in the Campaign like in BO2

• Xecho

ah

• Good.

• Redrum

too bad if its shorter than both put together.

• Walter Iego

Well, “Ghosts” SP-campaign lasted 6 hours, anything above that is great.

• Maybe the last reveal will be co-op campaign. Still have hope for this.

• Ryumoau

This is great news! Hope its at least as long as i remember Black Ops 1 being, and as memorable. πŸ™‚

• I like this,

• LovekillerX
• Guywithbrains

Black Ops series had better storytelling than Modern Warfare series but Modern Warfare and Ghosts had better missions altogether, more memorable. Let’s hope they can combine these two into this game.

• K1LL3R

mw2 and bo2 are for me the best campaings in cod history πŸ™‚

• Antal120
• Guywithbrains

And the most funny part is that so far all the maps I have seen are good. Unlike MW3, I want to play in all maps. πŸ˜€

• Juses

I don’t like bio lab it looks slow paced from the live streams I seen

• J4MES

Mmm they always say that the ‘new’ COD is longer than the others but it’s not always true. They said Ghosts was 8 hours long but I still finished it in 5. Still, AW looks like it could be the best since COD4!

• Underdog BO1 FTW!

I always play campaign before playing MP, This is great!

• J4MES

Me too, however Day Zero this time could be a good opportunity to rank fast and unlock some decent guns and perks so I may have November 3rd dedicated to MP and then the release date I will go through the campaign. I’m actually really excited for the story and glad SHG haven’t given away too much about it.

• In a recent interview, LizardSquad group said they would take down new games servers on the launch days… That would mean the whole Day Zero thing is total waste

• fires

campaign? Co-op? private matches to get a feel going? damn man, its almost as if CoD ONLY releases MP. We’re not like BF yet man.

• “That would mean the whole Day Zero thing is total waste”

Which means 24 hours early access and double xp.

• Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

It’s still only 2-4 hours longer, I wish it was 6 hours longer compared to the generic 4-5 hours.

• Guywithbrains

Well after seeing this guy
https://www.reddit.com/r/CoDCompetitive/comments/2ckgk2/apparently_there_is_a_developer_from_sledgehammer/ being right about a lot of points, I am thinking if the bonus wave includes zombies (as this guy is telling). So maybe no secret co-op mode, but bonus survival wave including zombies… What do you think?

• kyr95

Im already fine with Exo-Survival, but a special wave with zombies or cyborgs, will be a great addition.

• Guywithbrains

Everyone can be happy after that. Everybody wins!

• kyr95

Exactly! Personally, i didnt have problem with the survival in the first place. While i loved the other modes, survival was the only one who filled me with adrenaline and stress.

• Guywithbrains

I can imagine how fun it is with friends to stack to the corner and then hundreds of enemies come towards you. πŸ˜›

• kyr95

And with the exos the enemies will be more difficult to win, so thats more challenging.

• jooker-jr
• tobi xw

Bo1 had the best campaign. .then [email protected]….fuck the iw campaigns…aside from the mission no Russian. ..period

• Derrick Wingler

But will it be as replayable as BO2 was? After BO2 any Call of duty that doesn’t have multiple endings and branching mission paths will be inferior by default.
