“The whole game is Beast Mode,” says Marshawn Lynch. Marshawn Lynch is a NFL player for the Seattle Seahawks, and today, ESPN has confirmed that he will be featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. ESPN has also dedicated their newest issue of their magazine to eSports. Back in April, we reported that Lynch was at Treyarch Studios.

Here’s the cover of the new magazine:

The team at Treyarch put Lynch through the full motion capture session to bring the character to life within the game. Lynch has been a huge fan of the Call of Duty franchise for a while now.

“For Marshawn’s role, we needed an imposing figure,” says Mark Lamia, Treyarch studio head. “When we learned he’s a huge fan, we thought it’d be awesome to have him inside our game.”

“So I’m a villain,” Lynch says gleefully.

“Marshawn Lynch is the perfect match for Call of Duty,” says Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision. “I mean, he’s a guy who fills stadiums, crushes competitors and has a Beast Mode. What could be more COD than that?”

damn ಠ_ಠ he’s gonna punch you down watch out.

  • I hope zombies won’t have this celebrity trend like in AW… I’d like them to use their imagination to create their own characters :/

    • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

      It’s TREYARCHHH lol

      • Well they already have an athlete as a villain, so…

        • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

Hey at least it’s not Kevin Spacey.

          • Daniel

Spacey was awesome and is a great actor, not a sports player XD

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

He had horrid dialog in AW because it was poorly written and directed.

          • Doodle210

Just like you said, he did everything he could great, but his stuff wasn’t written properly.

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

He performed like crap, due to the bad writing.

          • Umm, no. He preformed wonderfully.

The issue is that there were so many loopholes and terrible things that make no sense in his writing that made is character seem shit.

For instance, he’s not a monster yet:

He shot a unarmed black man and left him to bleed out, the only one in the game.

He shot a unarmed man in the head, who was trying to save millions.

He let thousands of people die for his own gain.

He beat a unarmed man’s arm into disrepair.

He set a bomb off that started a fucking zombie apocalypse. ( We can tell he was alive during this, as Gideon was working for Atlas, suggested by the warbird )

And there were so many other things that made him look dead and emotionless, as the lazy grey eyes, for example.

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

His acting seemed a bit weak to me. I have to watch House of Cards to compare.

    • RdJokr

You can expect at least one map to be celebrity-filled, like Call of the Dead and Mob of the Dead.

Still, this is campaign we’re talking about, and not Zombies. COD campaigns have always had huge celebs. Still, I didn’t expect them to bring an athlete dude into the game.

Why AW is awesome the only people who hate on AW are the ones who stink at the game

      • Nicolò Aldrovandi

Rather, the only ones that really like the game are the ever-present fanboys.

      • Zachary Williams

No, the game had too many glitches, gun damage was too high and they never patched them, aka asm1, no map flow, too much focus on how you looked other than gameplay, and the streaks were us less and too expensive. I am pretty good at this game if I do say so myself, but it lacked balance and fun.

Can’t wait for the racist jokes. The model looks good. No homo

  • ScOott

The main villain should always be some dweeby smart guy, and have Big guys as the faithful side kicks, should of hired Stephen Hawkins as well ..

    • RdJokr

Can you possibly believe that Marshawn Lynch is gonna play a big role? Nah, he’d probably play that henchman dude that gets to do some cool shit (like he’s second in command of the enemy army or whatnot), then he gets killed halfway through the game. Nah, the big bad villain’s gotta be someone intimidating (like mentally). Doesn’t have to be Kevin Spacey level, but you know…

      • ScOott

100 percent agree with this.. Kevin spacey was perfect, he just needed his own bodyguard!

        • Nicolò Aldrovandi

And some actually good writing and directing.

  • Taylor Vincent

Off the subject but I have an idea for call of duty multiplayer mode but there’s no way I could get ahold of the company to suggest it. Has anyone ever played Tom Clancys games? When I was younger there was a multiplayer where you could pick your squad to fight with well each member was good at something different like stealth and sniping and controlling artillery and so on. What if we could incorporate that into the next call of duty game. You wouldn’t have to pic a computers level and you could pick the type of guy that you wanted to fight with. What if you were to pick ex military soldiers on to your team. Could you imagine having a guy like Kyle who would just snipe anyone in your line of pursuit. That’s all I have to say maybe this will make it onto next years version.

    • Baruck obuma

sounds a bit like Squads from Ghosts, but not a bad idea.

      • Taylor Vincent

I just get tired of the multiplayer with bots where everyone is pretty much the same

  • Pretty cool!

  • Drasadex

    That’s pretty great lol

  • Diego Diniz

Man…Call of Duty Keeps me Alive!

  • Daniel

    WTF 3ARC????
    This game is so dissapointing
Btw I doubt anyone can ever be better than Menendez
CoD should stop having one solo main villain

    • jordanxbrookes

      Makarov > Menendez

      • forrest1985

        Agreed!

      • Rorke File

        I like his villain voice.

        • jordanxbrookes

“Revenge is like a ghost. It takes over every man it touches. It’s thirst cannot be quenched, until the last man standing has fallen. The world’s men of action will look and wonder…how it came to this. You may be able to destroy me, but the beast will eventually come for you.” This gave me chills.

          • Rorke File

Still wondering which direction the old IW would take if they had made MW3 would Makarov and Soap then even die and Ghost make a return ?

          • They had confirmed that it would be a lot different, and Soap would still be alive.

          • Rorke File

I heard that a lot, and wanted to see that loved those epic missions in MW2 and wanted to see what they would deliver in MW3 then, I really have a feeling that Ghosts would have been back then.

      • RdJokr

LOL no, Menendez > Makarov any day. Makarov is just a simple terrorist, with some shitty motivation. Menendez, he’s someone you can actually sympathize with. Well, until the very last mission anyway.

    • CrazyWolf

Dude…it says “a villain”…we don’t know for sure that he’s tha MAIN villain. Details, man.

      • RdJokr

He’s supposedly a gun-for-hire, with two other partners.

Plus, Lynch may be imposing, but he doesn’t have that intimidating feature about him, the one thing that most COD villains have.

        • CrazyWolf

Well, he’ll most likely be intimidating through his physical strength (maybe). We haven’t had that kind of villain in a while…unless we count Rorke from Ghosts. He was a tough bastard. Anyways, I’m excited to see who’s our main villain this time.

Aigght, put the bleck giy as teh bad giy

    • Not racist, the past couple of games the villains have been white.

Makarov, Irons, that one guy from ghosts,Shepard, and the ones who weren’t white weren’t black, such as Menendez.

      • I love how people don’t even remember who was the villain of Ghosts.

        • Asekoth

yh but thet gaem sucs asshoel.

  • Uzair Chief

I am getting tired of this eSport, which they are forcing with Call of Duty…

  • Vikerii

The April Fools jokes are early!?

  • Ryumoau

When i first heard of this from youtube videos they made it sound like he was THE villian of the game. I’m so glad hes just a side villian because i don’t want a sports athlete with no acting talent being the main villian of a campaign mode i’m excited to play.

    • baltimoreravens

hes just in it so he wont get fined

      • Ryumoau

        fined? for what?

        • baltimoreravens

do you live under a rock?

          • Aaron Likes Cookies

Do you know how to give sources to things like this? Why would he be getting fined? Instead of being a smart ass, try answering questions properly

        • Transparentpolitics

Sorry for assholes being assholes. It’s a reference to a funny interview(s) Lynch had with the press. Here’s one of them http://youtu.be/G1kvwXsZtU8 Go ahead and Google “I’m just here so I won’t get fined” for more info.

          • Ryumoau

oh i see. i don’t follow sports but thats pretty funny. lol

      • c

        fuck you

  • David Carcedo

If you look closely, the guy is handling the COLT 1911 on the motion capture so… it will have old campaing and the new one which is SICK!

    • No, they’re just props.

In COD AW and BO2 they used M4s during mocap yet no appearance in game.

      Sorry pal, they’re reused props.

      • RdJokr

Yep, it’s common to use props. That’s almost the reason why you never see main characters handle the big guns like EM1, or just LMGs in general. There’s no prop for it.

  • DanzTheMan4

Calling it now. He’ll either be playable in zombies, or will be a character skin DLC for multiplayer.

    • RdJokr

According to the article on ESPN, his role is definitely for campaign.

      • DanzTheMan4

I meant in addition to the campaign. Should’ve clarified lol sorry.

  • Seems like a cliché character.

  • Aaron

    They should have ,

Marshawn Lynch Bruce willis, Tom cruise, and jason Stathom, Then marshawn gets eaten by zombies and gets replaced by a hot chick like mia khalifa. Mwuahahahaha!

  • james lamberson

Football+Marhawn Lynch+COD=Treyarch Makes me so happy i might cry.
