Sledgehammer Games has just announced that the previously announced Denial eSports Champs Gear Set is available now on Xbox One and Xbox 360. The gear set has been added into the Regular and Advanced Supply Drop rotation.

The gear set will be available at a later date on PSN and PC.

      • Haha I had to by first, Yh does look good, part from the helmet I hate having a tonk helmet.. Edit* talking about cod here before anyone gets any ideas ..

          • I’m talking about the cosmetic armour that came out, not the game itself (that’s a different debate). The armour only came out because of Cod Champs, which yes then you could say is catering to eSports. But if the devs and activision could of made the game with 2 separate communities then eSports wouldn’t affect the casuals, but yes I know they didn’t. Hopefully Treyarch will do it better.

          • I don’t support e-Sports period. Whether it’s for cosmetics (on a $60 game with a hundred million dollar budget, mind you) or the entire design of the mode.

          • For a number of reasons. I feel that it has no place in gaming in general. No rhyme or reason. In regards to Call of Duty, I think it is too focused, and now even effects Public Matches. It shouldn’t be like this, imo. But (maybe) the worst of all, I can’t stand the community. The people who are part of it. The fact that THOSE guys make far more than the average family’s yearly wage bothers me. Pricks.

          • First thing lol. Second it’s been around since the 90s. Third if the devs split it up better it wouldn’t affect casuals. Fourth not all of the community is “mean or low-life” and some are very nice and are just skilled at what they do. But I also don’t like some of the community either. Lastly it’s a form of skill and entertainment either in the form of playing or watching. They get payed just like any other sports star or actor, not saying that’s what they are though.

          • I don’t care how long people think it has been around. That doesn’t make it okay. Then maybe they should stop supporting it? If it’s that much of an issue. But SBMM was forced because Sledgehammer is such a huge Pro supporter. A huge portion of them are either tools or pricks. Skill isn’t a thing in regards to video games, especially since we are talking about CoD.

Exactly my point. Athletes are also overpayed. This crap just needs to die.

          • I meant eSports in general not just CoD. Esports has been around since October 19, 1972. FPS eSports has been around since the 90s. Cod eSports has been around since Cod1 on PC, but didn’t get big until Cod 4. The basis of eSports is for a more competitive playlist than the casual one, in any game not just CoD or to see who is the best of the best. It’s called competition and some people like it. Yes, the devs did force it to hard though, but hopefully not with Black Ops 3. Skill is in video games ever heard of League of Legends, Dota 2, Starcraft 2, WoW, Quake, Unreal, CS:GO, and competitive Cod doesn’t take as much skill, but it is harder than pubs. Athletes are paid so much because of viewers. People like many forms of entertainment. But I do agree they are overpaid, but it doesn’t take away from the purpose of eSports. But we will probably never agree so whatever.

          • When I think of skill, I think of a profession, something that requires a college degree. I disagree with the fact that such half-assed work makes more money than most families in America.

          • And why are you a supporter, and why defend them? It should be removed.

          • I don’t think anyone should support it, let alone make it a job for them.

  1. Reisdorf proved to me last year that all they cater to is e-Sports. I told you that this was the cause of SBMM!

    • If they really catered to eSports, you’d have seen weapon variants removed from Ranked Play already. I told you man, they tried too hard, and now they half-assed both sides of the community.

        • … They still need nerfing? I haven’t seen a lot of BALs and ASMs lately. My friend actually complained about the ASM1 nerf, because he felt his Speakeasy isn’t as strong as it’s used to be.

          • They are both still the best weapons in the game. Yes, they need to be nerfed further.

          • LOL, I must be playing with a lot of noobs then, because I outgun almost every BAL and ASM user when I play.

          • Well, I regularly switch between the Insanity, the M1 Outlaw, the Loophole and the Breakneck, so I guess I do have quite a bit of advantage.

          • I have the Insanity. Deleted the Breakneck because of the recoil. That vs a BAL would suck.

Depends on which variant of weapons you’re playing against. OS and SE are OP.

          • Breakneck’s recoil is somewhat manageable to me when I put a Foregrip on. But since I mostly Gung-Ho with it, it’s a hell of a beast when I get close up and personal with the enemies.

        • No, it’s because of the lack of tacticalness in CoD in general. Cod only has a few simple playstyles that would leave every gun to be the same if the devs were to balance the guns further. Then what would be the point of having more than one gun in each category? CoD these days allows you to make an LMG into an AR just by adding a few attachments and perks. Which then makes the LMG better because it has more damage. Even though it takes more pick 13 slots people will do it. If they slowed down the ADS time of snipers then no one would even use them, not only because they wouldn’t be able to hit clips, but also because CoD maps are too small and CoD is too fast paced for the snipers to even be relevant. So then again what would be the point of having snipers in the game? So to have a point for there to be different guns in the game some guns have better stats than others and because of it some guns become OP. Now unless the devs were to make each and every gun have a different advantage and disadvantage for different purposes (which not many purposes exist in CoD) not until then would there technically be no OP guns, but even that wouldn’t help because people would still find ways to abuse guns and figure out which guns are worth using and which are not. So what I’m trying to say is it’s the game itself, especially with the addition of the exos, that makes guns OP and it’s not just choosing guns to make better that Pros want to use. The Pros only use the ASM1 and BAL because they are OP, if the Sac3 and the MK14 were OP then the Pros would use those instead. They use whichever guns provide the best advantage. OK?

          • Then you have just proved my point.

I prefer fun over balance. I don’t think you need a balanced game for it to be fun, unlike Reisdorf and his stupid logic.

If that is the case with snipers, then they should be taken out of the game. Period. Or put into a separate playlist. That community, as a whole, is a joke, anyway. So good riddance. I’d celebrate.

I’m well aware as to WHY the “Pros” use the weapons. I take issue with the game, in its entirety, being built with that (also) pathetic community in mind. At all. Period.

  2. Am I the only one who wants cosmetic items to return in Black Ops 3? I’m not sure if you can customize your specialist in multiplayer but it would be cool if they would have some nice cosmetic items.

However I think that weapon variants should stay in AW.

    • You can customise, customisation is specialist specific and you earn the items by levelling up each different character

Id like customisation to return but like ghosts was at launch and only war colours.

    • I’m sure this has been confirmed has it not ? Any way They could sell them off as much as they liked if it was cosmetic, and it wouldn’t effect anybody.. If your going to monopolise it tho, id prefer to be able to buy it individually rather than luck of the draw.. Nothing more annoying than seeing something cool, and it go into random selection with not much chance of getting it..

    • yea I agree that cosmetics should stay and customize your character to how you want, customize what you want but have no effect in gameplay.

    • Who cares about cosmetic items it’s just a way for them to make more money and that’s not a point of a shooter game I hate it when people ask for cosmetics because it’s not a dress up game like I’ve said before.

        • Weapon camo challenges are no problem I’m talking about the gear, suits , and armour it’s not a dress up game

          • Well yes it should not be a dress up game and cosmetics should not be there main focus, but I do believe that some really cool armour could be in the game if it was only unlocked by challenges and not by any form of pay wall or randomness.

          • If you unlock them by challenges then its good I just want them to invest their time in a good quality multiplayer. instead of hiering people for clothes desighns they can spend that money on connections and better gameplay I see your point though who wouldnt want a nice looking soldier

    • Nope, fucking hate it. I want generic soilders instead of destiny rip offs shooting lazer guns.

Not even a fan of how BO3 is doing it with TF2 type characters, just give me infantry and ill be happy.

    • I thought it would have worked perfectly for BO3, sort of like the campaign or something you start as a fully organic meat bag and as you progress you can make bio-augmentations to physically change your appearance, and then the specialists would be like champions from LoL with maybe alt costumes would bee cool. Dress Reaper as a golem πŸ˜›

    • Personally I’d prefer no cosmetic items (except gloves) in a First Person game. The space used by cosmetic items could be used by something else (although it may not be much it would still be something) Every time I see a new AW gear set I wonder what that space could of been used for insted of clothing.

  3. I’m sorry but this is horseshit. I finally jumped in Advanced Warfare last week since November, they don’t fix the matchmaking, gun balance, connection issues and lag. WTF? Just bring out more items do you can buy them. I can’t be the only one who thinks this?

    • To be honest, I personally haven’t experienced any connection issues or lag in AW ever. The most I’ve had is that I entered a game of infected and nobody every was chosen as patient zero. We were all just running around the map with nothing to do. I will agree with you that the weapon balance is a bit off. People still only use ASM1s and BAL-27s. It’s so annoying. Also, SH has gone a bit over the top with the cosmetics, who the hell wants this shit anyway? If anything I’d rather have Ghosts customization as it was much more simple. I guess we’ll just have to wait for BO3. :

      • There are people who have no lag. At least here you, me and LovekillerX don’t have lag at all.

I have CoD4, MW2, MW3, BO2, Ghosts and AW and I have no lag at all even when I am in the same lobby with players from Greece, Turkey, Spain, UK, Russia, Italy, Germany, France and sometimes even from US. So I wonder why others have lag because of long distances but I don’t.

        • Yeah, I think it’s because a lot of people have shiternet these days and past cods were better at handling it. I always have a consistent 100mbs down and 20mbs up which is pretty decent. Not everybody has speeds equal or greater than this and that’s just how it goes. It could be the difference of being on a 4 bar to a 2 bar. I think people are just butthurt because BO2 was so good at handling the high shiternet levels of this day and age.

          • If lag would occur because of things like long distance or SBMM then how is it possible that it doesn’t occur to all players? There has to be something wrong in their netcode/engine/whatever they have going on behind the scenes handling online playing.

But talking of lag… I can’t wait to be part of Treyarch’s legendary launch lag. I never experienced it but I hear from people it was hell on earth.

          • c’mon man, use your head. SBMM isnt as strong for most players. For example, there are more players in the ~.8- 1.2 K/D skill range than anything else. Assumig you’re in this range, you’re playing against most people.

          • This might be stupid, but how do you check your internet speeds (mbs) What ever it is.

          • Do I just connect to the nearest server ? :-s my internet thing ain’t on their .. I’m really dumb πŸ™‚ even dumber when it comes to stuff like this.

          • I play console wired but did the test on my phone, maybe I should change my internet provider ready for black ops? I pay extra for the best “gaming” Experiancnce, n it hasnt been great.. Just don’t know who to go with in the uk ..

    • Gun balance.LOL. Try using a single sac (that isn t elite) against a speakeasy , even though you re the first to shoot.

  4. That armor looks awesome because black, orange and white colors fit together.

Side note: Zombies reveal incoming in 3 days. Hopefully they choose epic soundtrack from A7X as they did earlier with Zombies reveal trailer for Black Ops 2. Of course I am assuming they are going to use A7X’s music.

      • I actually got to know A7X when I saw Black Ops 2 reveal trailer. So then I tried to find out who sang that song and finally I ended up listening songs from Hail to the King album.

        • I’ve listened to them since forever lol and I was so happy when they had their music in black ops. I’m assuming that there will be at least ONE song in the game from them.

  5. What the hell has taken them so long to release this? By the time this sweet looking gear set is released, like nobody will be playing to get it. If it was released right after cod champs, there most likely would have been a bigger audience to enjoy it.

    • Well, it’s not like they knew which team was gonna win. And they had to consult the team members to pick out the gear piece, as well as how it should be designed to reflect Denial. It takes quite some time, given all the other loot pieces that they had to design along that as well.

        • Yeah, I thought it was weird too. I mean, it’s not like it’s a big map pack or anything. They could just announce it, then release it the day after.

Then again, Sledgehammer did say “We’re also partnering with Denial eSports for some special giveaways timed closer to the release of the gear set in July.” So maybe they wanted to give it some time, so Denial can do whatever promo they want to do first.

Another thing is that I’ve been checking around, and it seems the files for the Denial gear set isn’t on PC yet. Normally, a patch on all platforms would deliver this, then a playlist update for each platform would enable the content in-game. So maybe there will be a patch tomorrow that brings some fixes, as well as adding the gear set. I could be wrong though.

  6. Even though this game was not well received, you gotta admit, they keep dishing out more items, gear sets and other cosmetics.

      • There are people who design cosmetic stuffs, and there are people who concentrate on fixing the game. Two different groups that do different jobs.

Although the “bug-fixing” group isn’t doing that much of a great job either….

        • Ok fine yes. But like you just said the bug fixing group isn’t doing a good job. They could also reduce sbmm, take out variants from ranked, let the pros make the esports rules (like ban streaks), make ranked a separate playlist, and balance the guns better.

          • Too late for that though. By the time they got around to implementing these things in, people would be all over BO3.

Right now, I think the biggest problem they have is the game engine. I may be biased when it comes to this (because most of the problems can be seen on PC), but the engine version that Sledgehammer and IW are using isn’t very stable, thus it could cause issues (as apparent with Ghosts and AW). Ghosts was a mess frankly because of IW trying to make it work on all platforms, thus next-gen and PC had to suffer (X1 can only play on 720p, PS4 and PC have massive frame drops). AW minimized the issue a bit, but then once again, issues happened with the stability of the game.

Treyarch’s version of the engine, on the other hand, has been pretty stable since BO2, and I believe it will get better with BO3. They already made clear at their press conference in April that they wanted the game to come out with as little amount of bugs and issues as possible. At least we can expect less issues with the game, and we probably won’t have “out of map exploits” remain untouched halfway into the game’s life cycle.

      • I agree, but i think they’re done fixing the game seeing that there are A TON of bo3 gameplay and more people are hyped for that game and we’re only in July.

  7. I remember when cod was full of hardcore gamers who wanted to play to win..(cod2) now its full of people who want to look as cool and pretty as they can when they die lol..then blame it on lag and “OP Guns” as their excuse for sucking..:D

    • Yep, I remember that too. It’s sad that now it’s full of 12 year olds because the devs cater to the noobs. Variants are an excuse in some gunfights though because not everyone has the same variant. Variants just screw with gun balancing, but stock OP guns don’t bother me though because I can just use them too.
