GameRadar has posted a preview of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 campaign and have revealed some new details on it. The biggest new detail is that in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, all campaign missions are unlocked on Day One.

Treyarch says the reasoning behind this is for co-op play; if you’ve been playing Black Ops 3 campaign for a week now and your friend just buys the title, they’ll be able to join you on whichever mission they want too. No limitations.

To that end, the whole of Black Ops 3’s story is unlocked from the start, meaning you can jump into any level with your friends and start playing right away. If you’re underpowered, they can even share guns with you, so you could – in theory – buy the game and head straight into the last level, fully pimped out with the best weaponry.

Treyarch has also stated that within the campaign, players will be able to share their weapons with their co-op partners.

    Thats awesome

Furst! Finally got my sweg back. Its been a while since I last got Furst.

Now that I got that out of the way, wont this spoil stuff for people?

    • Yankeephil

      Nope. Lol

      • Kyle Soule

        Yep. Lol

        • Yankeephil

I was definitely first, but I don’t write it when I comment so I don’t look like a retard, the key is comment one word quick then if you end up being first go back and edit it

          • Kyle Soule

Thats actually what I did lol. I thought I was first bc your comment didnt pop up until a couple seconds after I posted mine but it was just my phone being slow. If we are counting it as who said the word first I got it but in reality you did get it. Maybe next time I will actually get the first comment.

    • Will WilFredo Mendoza

      No fagat

      • Kyle Soule

        First of all, fagit*
        Second, yes
        Third, fuck you

        • No, you were secund.

          • Kyle Soule

            Are you sure?

          • Uh, yeah. @Yankeephil:disqus was a minute earlier than you were.

          • Kyle Soule

Thats wierd. I didnt see his comment pop up until after a couple seconds of posting mine.

          • You’re internet must be slow then. But to be fair @Yankeephil:disqus didn’t state they were furst.

          • Kyle Soule

            So technically I was Furst

          • I guess you could say that! πŸ˜‰

          • Kyle Soule

Actually, its not my internet. Its my phone. Its really slow even when I am using internet somewhere else.

          • Well that sucks. I’ve been having a hard time loading Disqus on IOS 9 developer beta 4, so I’ve just been sticking to my computer for commenting.

          • Kyle Soule

I actually had to get my computer fixed. Just got it back yesterday.

          • Well that’s good to hear! I had to send it my super beast graphics card in for repair yesterday. I can’t play BO2 on my computer until I get it back. πŸ™

          • Kyle Soule

Major bummer. And bo2 is the best cod too (imo).

          • Thomas the TankSwag

Kyle wuz furst. Fuk teh uthr fagit.

  • bird

seems like a strange idea, but with the co-op aspect i guess i can understand it. Wouldn’t it be better to just allow co-op players to join in any level, but they would have to progress through them in order to get achievements etc.

  • So the ending will be spoiled even faster lol.

    • RdJokr

Considering how fast people rush through the campaign these days, I’m not surprised. Can’t wait for some idiots to rush through the whole thing on Recruit difficulty, then make claims like “campaign only 3 hours long lololol”

  • MrNick

    Like it swetty?

  • Welp, better finish off the campaign really quick or hide from the internet to not get spoiled.

    • The7Reaper

      No kidding

    • Kyle Soule

How much do you wanna bet there will be people that will just skip right to the last mission.

      • CoDforever

but now since its coop theres a larger incentive to play the other missions .. its like zombies, people still play kino even if they have all the other maps

        • RdJokr

That’s because Zombies is released in an episodic order, so it works. Campaign doesn’t.

          • CoDforever

they are released episodically yes but not in chronological order take extinction for example, a ton of ppl including myself still play the earlier maps even though we have all of them

          • RdJokr

Technically, they still are in a specific order. You can jump right in some of the maps and play them, but to truly understand the story, you gotta play at least from the point of Shi No Numa.

        • Kyle Soule

Kino is easily one of my favorite zombie maps in bo1, if not my favorite.

  • Yankeephil

I think this means we won’t get an extra zombie map for completing the campaign

  • tuby

Have never played single player in Any cod to be honest. I will gave it a try this time perhaps

  • First BO3 flaw (in my opinion), check!

    • Rojah Lewis

      agreed

    • PuddingAuxRais1ns

      Why?

      • You should earn your way to the last mission. Not play it just cuz you can.

        • Ryumoau

          agreed.

    • jordanxbrookes

Yup. What’s the point of playing it when all missions are unlocked automatically? Silly decision if you ask me.

      • MichiganerE

I agree. I was worried about the co-op aspect before, but now, I’m worried that it’s going to take away from any plot happening at all. When I watched the teaser trailer, I thought that BO3’s campaign would have major connections to BO1 and BO2 and it would connect everything together and be the grand finale to the Black Ops arc, but now, that’s probably not happening. Maybe BO3 should’ve stayed with BO1 and 2’s storytelling.

        • CoDforever

dude .. it will still be connected to the black ops universe. Take zombies for example, you can play any map at any time as long you have them but that doesnt mean people dont play the earlier maps in the storyline lol

          • MichiganerE

You sure BO3’s gonna have connections with BO1 and 2? Apart from BO3’s teaser, what connections or storytelling has their been? Treyarch hasn’t hinted to any returning characters, they haven’t even hinted any references to past games at all. Hell, they’ve barely given any details about BO3’s story at all.

Also, you’re Zombies example isn’t that good, it makes no sense and has nothing do to with my comment at all.

          • CoDforever

they said that raul menendez taking over the drones making the US embarassed will have an impact during bo3’s campaign i believe ..

also they havent showed much of sp at all this year because ATVI allowed them to talk about MP all year long rather than waiting mid august so obviously this time they are gonna keep the SP mostly under wraps since its story orientated anyway.. the only reason they quickly showed a demo at e3 was to showcase its new features like 4 player coop and safehouse

Dont forget that frank woods is also definitely involved in the game somehow, he might come back as a drone or something who knows they might show a new mission at gamescom like they did last year

the zombies example is a perfect example because if you look at it they both are very similar this time around. the campaign missions in bo3 are more like 4 player coop arenas with stories behind each one of them just like zombies

          • MichiganerE

Now that I think about it, I did hear about this. Let’s hope that BO2’s drone attack will actually effect BO3 and Treyarch isn’t just saying this to please us.

            I hope so.

Let’s hope so. Considering James C. Burns (Woods’ voice actor) has made some BO3 videos, then hopefully this will be a sign of a Woods apearence and not just some marketing scheme.

Shadows of Evil and The Giant both take place in the 30s and 40s while BO3’s story takes place over the course of a few weeks in 2065. BO3’s campaign is a story taking place over short period of time while Zombies has taken over the course of several different universes and decades. That’s some pretty big differences.

          • CoDforever

“BO3’s story takes place over the course of a few weeks in 2065.”

And how do you know this? This definitely wasnt the case in BO1 and BO2 either. Hell even AW took place over the course of ten years. In bo1 there was a ww2 mission where you played as reznov and in bo2 you already know what I mean

          • MichiganerE

Treyarch said this, go look it up.

          • CoDforever

oh ok woops my bad you won buddy here take my upvote <3

          • MichiganerE

            Okay.

          • RdJokr

Burns hasn’t done a BO3 video in ages. Apart from “analyzing” the reveal trailer, he hasn’t talked one single bit about the game. I don’t think he’s involved with BO3 at all, really.

The only possible character from old games that we might see in BO3 is Section, and even that is quite a stretch, because Section will be really old in 2065 if he’s still around.

          • MichiganerE

            Probably.

Section would be 86, so we could see him as a Commander or in the same position as Woods was in BO2.

          • RdJokr

He’s already Lieutenant Commander in BO2 though. So if he’s around in BO3, he may have reached the status of Admiral.

          • MichiganerE

            Probably.

      • What’s the point of playing at all? To have fun.

Honestly I really don’t give a shit, I’m going to play campaign first and properly regardless, just like I always do.

        • jordanxbrookes

It’s not fun if you give people the option to play the last mission first, that’s the whole point of unlocking missions. So you see through a story.

          • The whole point of unlocking missions is to force you to experience a part of the game so you can enjoy and understand the next.

You see Jordan, youre talking throughout the eyes of a speedrunner or a completionest rather than a actual gamer who is there for the content and the experience WITHIN the mission.

The point to play through the general consensus is that you want fun through the mission.

Through your point of view, youre right, theres no point of playing through a COMPLETIONIST’S view because its already completed, theres nothing to do.

When through a normal players eyes, this just means more freedom to play and experience the game and interpet the story in their own unique way, which is why 3arch did this.

      • CoDforever

Also people will skip the last mission yeah probably but first of all how many of them are even gonna click mission select xD

and even if they do, the ending should intrigue them enough to play the other missions .. genius idea from treyarch i suppose

      • I don’t see why you guys are leaning negative towards this..you are not forced to play different missions you still can follow the story line….

    • Ak74u

Yup this is the first flaw. That is a dumb idea imo, what’s the point of the campaign then if you can just jump right to the end? Smh

      • CoDforever

same can be said about zombies

        • Ak74u

What’s dumb about zombies, the new characters or the mode itself. I think they are doing a good job they are bringing in the old story and having a new one too. Beating the campaign won’t feel much of an accomplishment if all missions are unlocked from the start…

    • QuickzZ-_-GhosT

I honestly prefer the linear ones with michael bay s scenes. This campaign will be a mess on story development .

      • It sure will!

      • I also have some concerns. I’m with you, the over the top, cinematic story is what makes me play campaign in the first place. The open ended aspect seems a little shaky.

    • BigMacMan

how is this a flaw? if people want to play the game in the correct order, they can. if they want to play it in their own order, they can as well. win win situation for everybody

      • I just don’t feel it’s right that you can just go ahead and play the last mission. Again, you should earn your way there.

        • BigMacMan

well you don’t have to play the last level. you can start from the beginning. it’s all up to you
and who cares what other people do? as long as you’re having fun, that’s all that matters

        • CoDforever

its co op play so theres incentive to play the other missions. Its like zombies dude, not all people only replay the same map over and over just cause its unlocked for them and they dont have to play the other maps first to get there..

        • Gaurav Pandey

After paying for this game why anyone wants to play the last mission first. It’s like watching the end of the movie first πŸ˜›

    • Banana Fo Fama

      Dumbest shit I’ve ever heard.

First a vast majority of COD players state never having played the whole campaign. Now they fucking bitch their faces off because the missions are unlocked.

you aren’t even going to play it anyways so SHUT. THE FUCK. UP.

      • Who says I won’t play it? I just don’t like that you don’t have to earn the last mission.

        • RdJokr

From a certain perspective, I guess it’s like when you buy a book, and you can read the last chapter straight away. It’s not recommended, but there’s nothing stopping you from doing so.

It’s just going to be a problem that people who get the game early don’t have to rush through the whole thing just to spoil the ending for everybody.

          • Wildblood779

            >spoil the ending for everybody.

To be honest the ending will probably already be known within a few hours of the game’s release (if it doesn’t get leaked, which is unlikely anyway).

I completely agree with your book analogy, I feel the same. I’m completely fine with what they’re doing with BO3 and I have no idea why everyone’s so annoyed with it. People keep moaning to “let them play the game the way they want to; they bought it with their money” but then cry when new ways to do so are implemented.

      • ThatOnePerson

Cod fanboys are always psming it seems.

      • Got agree, it’s absolutely silly that you’re crying over this.

    • CoDforever

this is actually a lot like mw3 spec ops all missions were unlocked for you but that didnt mean you only played the last one

  • burrgee

Does anyone know if this game is coming out on ps2?

    • Kyle Soule

      Yes. Its been confirmed.

      • burrgee

        Yaaay cant wait,

        • Kyle Soule

I also heard its coming out for SNES as well so I am pretty stoked for that.

    • Not sure, I hope so! It would be cool if it’s like a bonus if you buy the PS4 version. πŸ˜›

    • CoDforever

how does anyone find these types of comments funny?

      • w

ppl have different senses of humor

      • jooker-jr

he’s probably mocking those who want every game on the last gen consoles.

    • TheDemonOfHate

Yup, I pre-ordered it. Got the Beta already. 2 month Beta. But there’s only like 2 guns & 1 map. 4 score streaks. 1 Camo. 0 Special Ability

    • jooker-jr

      pre-ordered on the N64.

  • The Flash

I hope in zombies, we can share weapons to our co-op partners, especially in the high rounds, or at least allow teammates to take our box weapon if we dont want it

    • Drasadex

      Or at minimum share ammo.

But still a good idea though

      • RdJokr

They should keep the point sharing system from BO2. It would be nice to share points with those who just joined fresh during high rounds.

    • I think there will be a lot of trolls with features like that.

      • The Flash

well i always play with the right people to avoid trolls, and the only big troll i can see with that is if a teammate hit the box and and then went down, you could take his weapon and then revive him, but it’d be down to him for hitting the box instead of prioritising Jugg

  • Deadly Ed

Who really cares about CoD’s campaign? I’ll play through it once for achievements, and then forget about it.

    • Axel Noir

      Well true.

    • jordanxbrookes

      I do.

    • Daniel

      I do, so f* u (rage mode)

      • Deadly Ed

Yeah you and 12 other people. Meanwhile the other millions of people will be playing online MP.

        • www

believe it or not more people buy the game to play the campaign mode.

    • The Flash

yeah same as me tbh, its one or 2 time play through at best, i dont even pay attention to the story tbh

    • COD campaigns are highly underrated. I actually find them a lot of fun. For example, a lot of people didn’t like Ghosts, but the campaign was really fun. AW’s campaign too.

      • Deadly Ed

I enjoyed the MW campaigns. But it’s all about the MP

      • Ghosts theming was okay but the gameplay was awful.

It wanted to be stealthy and emotional but in reality it was silly stupid and another gung ho warfare game.

MW3 was also pretty rough, but other than those two I enjoyed all of them.

    • Guest

Don’t know how it’s these days, but up until BO2. 70% who bought COD only played the Campaign.

      • Deadly Ed

Wow some pretty solid facts there πŸ˜‰

        • Guest

A developer from either Treyarch or Infinity Ward said it in an interview a couple of years ago, you don’t have to believe me. But why should i make it up lol..

    • I do. I’ve spent more time on AWs campaign than multiplayer by far, and when any cod comes out I completely finish the campaign before even thinking of multiplayer.

  • Daniel Lask

it would be awesome if you could create guns in the gunsmith for zombies and whatever gun you pull from the box, will have your custom skin for you and you only.

  • Ryumoau

I’m not sure i like this at all. Its weird to think someone would want to jump around without experiencing the story from the beginning for the first time. But i’m okay with this as long as theres no spoiler pics on the mission select screen.

  • Daniel

Bad story and character development confirmed
BO3 is the most dissapointing game ever

    • Xerolh

Bad story and character development? You just described literally every CoD campaign. You sure love to suck SHG’s dick.

  • drjakeyoung

I guess they could make it so that people who play through the missions in order get a secret zombies map unlocked or something.

  • Mick

    This is a stupid idea.

  • Joshwoocool

I dont like it due to massive spoilers, but it makes sense for the idea of playing with friends.

  • Thomas the TankSwag

Having serious doubts about black ops 3, campaign will not have a good story if it is like this with not being linear and custom characters.

Multiplayer looks average at best, and the TTK needs to be sorted out.

The normal zombies (shadow of the dead?) looks terrible, and i would much rather play exo zombies than it. The giant looks good though.

Cant judge a game till ive played it though, and hopefully it will be turn out good because i cant play AW for another 2 years.

    • melchor2679

I think TTK will be somewhere between BO2 and AW. I really don’t care about Zombies, story mode I only play it once (eventually), the big deal for me is multi-player but I trust Treyarch.

  • Diego Diniz

Who Cares about Campaign??? Multiplayer > ALL

    • jooker-jr

      I do.

  • melchor2679

Honestly I jump straight into multiplayer, eventually I play campaign once to get through the story line. Not too sure about the whole co-op campaign mode though.

  • Dangelo95

It doesn’t matter if the missions are unlocked if you play it from the first mission to the last mission then who cares you still played it in order

  • ThatOnePerson

This decision is stupid but not something I care deeply about. I just play the campaign once for all the achievements anyway.

  • Xerolh

Not that big of a deal in my opinion. I don’t see how this will make the story suffer. Just play the missions in order and there’s no problem.

  • AlexK489

I actually see what they’re doing here.

Think of it from this perspective; you’re at level 10 on Destiny. Got some good gear, ready to take on the challenges, so you decide to try and take a level 14 mission.

You get part way through it, but you find out you’re incredibly underprepared. Your powers don’t work as well as they did, your guns only work well on certain enemies and you die ALOT, so you decide to go back to some older missions and level your character up.

That’s what it’s gonna be like in BO3. Yes, you can jump ahead to the last level from the get go, but you’re gonna be under prepared. You’re not gonna have good weapons, you’re not gonna understand your powers too well, you’re gonna die ALOT.

Hell even the “Safe House” feature sounds alot like The Tower from Destiny now that i think about it…

I’m interested to see how this is gonna turn out, and how solo play and co-op play feel compared to eachother

    • Xerolh

I think you’re right because the more you play the more upgrades you get for your abilities. If you dive right into the final mission it’s going to be difficult or impossible with non upgraded abilities and weapons.

  • Mikey9835

Call me old fashioned but back in my day we finished a campaign from start to finish. Who the hell wants to start with the final mission with no clue whats going on? +1 sin

  • Xerolh

Do people not remember you could unlock all of black ops 1 missions with a computer code?
