A new patch for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is now live on PlayStation 4. The patch is around a 9.1GB download file.

This patch includes support for the Awakening DLC content for PS4, bug fixes, new feature updates, and more.

The patch will be available on Xbox One and PC soon. Stay tuned for more information.

The Black Ops 3 Awakening DLC content will be available for players to start playing at 12:01AM PST (3:01AM ET // 8:01AM UK time) on February 2nd on PS4, according to Activision Support. In order to play the content, if you own the season pass or buy the DLC, you need to visit the in-game store to activate the DLC once it becomes available.

Awakening DLC 1 Map Pack Support

  • Gauntlet: Delivering three unique environments within one action-packed map, Gauntlet showcases Treyarch’s classic three-lane map structure, transporting Players into battle through a sprawling jungle, sub-zero artic zone and rainy urban cityscape.
  • Splash: Dive into battle in this abandoned water park, featuring a vibrant and colorful environment, including waterslides, a wrecked pirate ship and a lazy river. Splash encourages an open flow of combat with opportunities for underwater gameplay.
  • Rise: A versatile multiplayer map, Rise is set in the snowy outskirts of Zurich in the middle of an ongoing construction site for a massive subterranean Coalescence research campus.  With multiple engagement areas throughout this larger map, each section caters to different styles of gameplay.
  • Skyjacked: High above urban Zurich, Skyjacked is a modernized version of the popular Call of Duty: Black Ops II multiplayer map Hijacked. Utilizing the new core movement system featured in Black Ops III, this map gives Players new ways to explore the environment, while still retaining the same fast and frenetic gameplay Players love.
  • Der Eisendrache: Awakening also introduces the first chapter of Call of Duty: Black Ops III’s Zombies DLC adventure with Der Eisendrache.  Set in a chilling medieval Austrian castle during World War II, Players will embark on an epic journey with the Origin characters Richtofen, Nikolai, Takeo and Dempsey.  The ancient site on which the castle sits was the scene of unspeakable horror where massive deposits of Element 115 have recently been discovered.  Players will discover a variety of exciting plot twists and surprises as they survive waves of the undead.

  • FreeRun, Nightmares & Dead Ops Arcade 2 are now accessible from the Bonus Menu on the Main Screen.
  • Balance pass to improve XP earn rate consistency across game modes.
  • Resolved issue where Specialist’s showcase weapons showed both base attachment models and Player selected attachment models.
  • Resolved issue where Players were unable to freely scroll through taunts in the Taunts menu if a new taunt was recently acquired.
  • Added missing rotation prompt icon in Gunsmith “Custom Variant” and Gunsmith “Snapshot.”
  • Addressed issue where Leaderboards were not properly being reset after a Player used a Prestige Token.
  • Resolved issue where the Create-a-Class would not update immediately after the purchase of the Extra Slot Pack.
  • Added additional anti-cheat support.

General Gameplay

  • Fixed an exploit that allowed Players to move faster by sliding just before landing from a jump.
  • Fixed an issue where moving while crouching or ADS did not properly reduce your audio footprint.

Theater

  • Fixed an issue where attempting to view a merged clip in a Highlight Reel would kick the Player back to the Theater menu.

Store

  • Addressed issue where Emblem Editor UI would remain behind the Arena Pro Series pre-game sequence if the Player was editing a layer during lobby transition.
  • Arena default Custom Classes no longer contain restricted items.
  • Removed the Map Voting stage from Arena.

Game Modes

  • Free-for-All
    • A loss will no longer be recorded when joining a Free-For-All game in progress.
  • Hardpoint
    • Addressed issue where Hardpoint boundary wouldn’t appear if a friendly Player controlled the point.
  • Safeguard
    • Adjusted win timing in Safeguard.
  • Search and Destroy
    • Addressed an issue where inactive Players were not being removed from games in S&D.
  • Uplink
    • Updated regulation time limit conditions so that if the score limit is reached in regulation Round 1, it also sets the time for regulation Round 2.
    • Changed Overtime rules: Game ends if team that set the time to beat in Overtime Round 1 scores any points in Overtime Round 2 before the opposing team.
    • Players are no longer able to catch the Satellite Drone immediately after a score; the Satellite Drone resets as soon as the score occurs.
    • Fixed issue where Players were able to simultaneously pick up the Uplink Satellite Drone and a turret.
    • Reduced score bonus for kills while carrying Satellite Drone.
  • Capture The Flag

Custom Games

  • Fixed issue where the CTF Custom Game Settings win rules were flipped in the UI.

CODcaster

  • Enabled CodCaster for bots only matches.

Lobby Invites

Challenges and Medals

  • Fixed issue where unlocking the Cannibal head for Nomad from a Supply Drop displayed the wrong item.
  • Fixed issue where images would not appear for some challenges in the After Action Report.
  • Fixed issue for “Collateral” medal in Hardcore where it was occasionally incorrectly awarded for rapid sequential kills.
  • Fixed bug where the “Clutch” medal was improperly being awarded if you killed the last Player on an enemy team.
  • Addressed issue whereby grenade kills were not counting towards the “Gung Ho Perk 3” challenge.
  • Addressed issue where kills from a Hardened Sentry gun received in a Care Package were counting towards the “Heavy Cover” challenge.
  • Corrected issue where “Flak Jacket” challenge was tracked in Arena even if the Player had not unlocked Flak Jacket in Public Matches.

Dead Ops Arcade 2

  • Dead Ops Arcade 2 is now accessible from the Main Menu (BONUS).
  • Dedicated Dead Ops Arcade 2 lobby added w/public match support.
  • New Leaderboards for solo/2-Player/3-Player/4-Player.
  • 4-Player Local support.
  • Player guardians (Robots and Skeletons) are no longer collidable.
  • Non-player entities should no longer trigger round exits.
  • Fixed bug where upon death, Player would respawn with 1, 2 or 4 boosts. (2/4 depending on FATE)
  • New Pickup added: Golden Egg, a rare post round 60-item spawn.  The Golden Egg hatches into Extra Life pickup.

        yup, im a pretty average player (1.5 k/d) and i find awareness helps a lot, don’t mind the nerf too much, but i just wish there was more clarification between new changes in the patch and old once from previous hot fixes

I think it would be cool to see how many H.A.T.R.S someone has obtained, or Motherships, G.I. Units, etc. It’s an overview of someone’s personal stats with the game and I think it’s interesting.

  • Raps is now 1300 points rather than 1275…smh. As if they weren’t weak enough to begin with.

    Also, make it so the effin H.A.T.R can’t be shot down; it’s ridiculous how many kills you have to get to earn streaks that are shot down within seconds. Also make it so UAV’s aren’t 5 kills to get now, and can’t be shot down so easily by making them higher up in the sky like Black Ops 1.

      VSAT was orbital in Black Ops 2 and we saw how that turned out.

      In order to keep everything balanced everything should be destroyable.

      • Black Ops II VSAT was fine IMO. You get a lot of kills in a row? You earn it – just like Black Ops I; in fact you needed more kills than in BOII than BOI. Or at least make it last longer.

        In Black Ops III now, it gets shot down way too often in my experience; it’s the opposite of balance now in that it’s too nerfed. Either make it get shot down, but let it last longer.

          Parties spamming VSAT in Nuketown was far from balanced. It makes enemy team unstoppable because they know all the time where you’re coming from. Chaining VSATs in Nuketown was living hell on earth.

          • Having parties in general chaining killstreaks can make it hellish: UAV’s, VSAT’s, EMP’s or whatever in general is a nightmare. VSAT is no exception. BOI had it even easier to get a Blackbird.

            Ghost makes UAVs irrelevant unless you camp like a weakling. VSAT can be countered by a counter UAV. Hard wired counters EMP. None of it is really hard to combat. If anything the VSAT or HATR at most since your Counter UAV can be shot down.

      I agree with you on the Ghost perk part. You should be hidden when your ADSing, and I hate the fact that Ghost is delayed from when you start sprinting. Should be instantaneous just like in BO2.

        Idk how you did it then. I use to run mothership and quit running it because I was getting barely 5 kills with it. The enemy tracking on it is horrid to where you have to just shoot at everything hoping that its enemies otherwise their red icons do not show up until they are behind cover already. I stopped running it also because I didn’t want to be not on the field running and gunning. I use Wraith, RAPS and GI Unit and already I’m seeing how easy they are to take them out.

      I feel like they nerfed the scorestreaks because Activision doesn’t want the scrubs rage quitting the game because then they won’t get their monies worth in supply drops. It’s the only logical thing I can think of. It’s infuriating to be honest. The easiest fix is to reduce the Blackcells rockets to 2. One person shouldn’t be able to destroy a RAPS ship. It should be a team effort. I don’t remember any other CoD where the launchers had more than 2 rockets.

      R.A.P.S has been 1300 points since the beta. I’m on xbox one so we haven’t the new patch yet and i double checked an am looking at R.A.P.S right now 1300.So maybe on ps4 they have been 1275 or you were just mistaken.

My bad then lol – it’s just that I’ve noticed the R.A.P.S. position had moved in the kill streak menu (it had gone up), so I thought maybe the score needed to get it had moved up to – I checked the CoD wikia page and it said it needed 1275, but on my BOIII it said 1300, so maybe they hadn’t updated the wiki page since the beta.

      Lag comp is way more significant than perks killstreaks and maps that been said, you have to relax, 3arch never had good Lag comp, this is where they screw it up every time (bo1,bo2 and bo3). If lag comp bothers you that much you should stop playing bo3. Net code isnt something you can patch or fix so dont hope for anything better. Atleast they listen to us in an extent.

            Correction, Black ops 3 was the first to be fully developed for new gen. New gen hardware wasn’t around when development began for Ghosts. It was developed on last gen, then ported over to new gen, which made the game slightly look better.

        CSGO has 2 frame lag comp and this game has at least 10 frames. That delay is INSANE. Those deaths that make you scratch your head happen way to often. Game shouldnt be about 3 bar warriors winning it should be about gunskill.

      SBMM has existed in all previous CODs, as well as BO3, to an extent. But something else was causing the matchmaking fuck-ups. It does not have anything to do with SBMM, however. Treyarch spoke on this issue countless times already.

    i agree that the hatr should take be harder to take down but as someone who rarely plays to get high kill streaks I could care less about them. I’m the mf’er on the other team shooting down everything too. If I could switch out my 3rd killstreak for an extra pick 10 slot(basically pick 11) I’d do it in a heartbeat. All I would run is UAV and C-UAV even though they get insta shot down, but if you have a couple of friends spamming them, They get real annoying . I used to play hard for killstreaks and nukes in MW2 back when you had the chopper gunners and AC130s and then the dogs and Chopper gunner in Blops 1. Even MW3 when I was really transitioning to aggressive play due to those free killstreaks…. but now I’ve gotten way too aggressive and I don’t get high end streaks anymore. or even bother trying.

    You do have some good points though. run a uav and c-uav with a high end streak. Youll get +20s like crazy from all the kills your teamates get. then if you’re playing dom and you’e getting close…wait and cap the opening flag then camp it out for free kills as the other team runs aimlessly towards B.

    Things i like about the patch: FUCKING thank you for fixing the spawn i cant tell you how many times i get an enemy coming behind me and killing me to have me spawn on the other side of the map and get spawn killed just to be sent back to the other side of the map shit was annoying.

    FINALLY i don’t have to worry about joining a game in Combine then spending the next hour playing on the same fucking map, combine isn’t even a good map pissed me off people would continuously vote the shit.

    Things I hate about the patch: WHO IN THEIR EVER LOVING MIND THOUGHT OF THE IDEA TO BUFF THE ARGUS! ARE YOU MENTAL?!
