In a new interview with IGN, Infinity Ward’s Design Director Jacob Minkoff has revealed some new details about the dynamics of space gameplay in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

In the campaign mode, players will be able to fly their own personal space-combat ready jet called the Jackal. Minkoff has revealed that players will be able to customize and upgrade the jet throughout the campaign.

“It’s kind of the Top Gun fantasy,” he explained, noting that “it’s your fighter that you get to upgrade and customize. You get to walk along the flight deck and have the flight crew preparing it for you and saluting you and you get into it and you fly out into these crazy missions that you chose to go to.”

Minkoff revealed that the Jackal “can transform between atmospheric flight mode and zero-G flight mode for when you have to dogfight in the vacuum of space.”

  1. “Choose to go to” oh god… It’s going to be like bo2 campaign with its confusing mission layout

    • BO2 missions had confusing layout? Apparently if a mission isn’t just a corridor shooter your mind gets confused.

      • No, in bo2 you had those like survival mini missions paired with actual missions. To me it was confusing on what missions you already did and what the new ones were.

    • I dont think its confusing but I guess you can choose whether to do the space missions, mission on earth or on other planets. Which all eventually is doing its part in getting rid of SDF.

    • Or it’s gonna be like BO3’s Safehouse. And to me it sounds more like that than the mission select screen of BO2.

  2. Wish the Campaign was Co-op. BOIII had the best Campaign mechanics, a leveling system with your own bunk bed area to display your collectables physically, along with cybercore upgrading and create-a-class. Going to be difficult to top it with just a single player Campaign

    • Kinda sucked tbh, had the exact same character, no difference at all wether you did it co op or not. If bo3 had a true co op campaign it would have been much better.

    • I don’t mind the lack of a co-op aspect, but if the campaign has such a hub, and a customizable jet, then it’s already a huge step-up from Ghosts.

    • I think it’s better to play alone, like other Infinity Ward games like MW trilogy and Ghosts. You will experience more with the characters.

    • BO3 has the worst COD campaign I’ve ever played. It is not fun at all. The story is great if you found a video on youtube to explain what the ending meant. I had to force myself to play through the whole thing. There are some fun missions but it takes the 1st place for worst campaign ever.

      • bo3 and aw were the only campaigns I didn’t play they both were bad and sucked i only played nightmare mode with friends just for fun

    • Absolute truth, going to be damn near impossible for IW to top it with regular old single player campaign.

  3. So this is kind of my idea of how the story is gonna be(feel free to add your thoughts)
SDF are good military organization at first send to different planets
in order to create human settlements by building cities and creating
protection for humans etc etc…Their commanding officer goes rogue and
with him the entire SDF(as Reyes said,Military radicals) and they from
other planets use their resources to build warships etc and attack the
earth, take over The SATO defense grid which protects whole of earth. We
play as SCAR(Naval spec Ops force) along with our team mates
Reyes,Rodriguez,Saltner(The sarkeesian) and we the player. And then its
upto us along with SATO,UNSA to get rid of SDF from earth and destroy
their warships in space and other planets.I think this is what they mean
by you can choose your missions on the go and fight with your Jackal
seamlessly.Would love to hear your thoughts.

  4. (Felt like reposting this on other threads)
It’s funny how people are like, “I’m only buying this for cod 4.” But then you’ve probably haven’t even played cod 4. I’ve been playing cod since cod 3 on the mother fucking wii xD, and I’ve adapted. Don’t get me wrong, AW was one of if not the worst cods in the franchise, but it wasn’t terrible, it was just the ‘worst.’ This cod looks great so far, and I bet the multiplayer will be great too. Bo3 isn’t bad, the hitdetection and lag compensation is utter bs, but when everything works it becomes a truly wonderful game. Trust me, I’m just as excited as most of you are for cod 4, but then (for those of you that have played it) you will come to realize it’s all nostalgia. I went back to play cod 4 on the pc a while ago and it was the most basic game ever! Cod 4 now is literally a browser fps flash game XD. So many games are based off the cod 4 formula because of it’s success and cod 4 now is just boring. I’ll play the remaster and let the nostalgia sink in, but when it’s gone it’s gone. I just hate it when people don’t let themselves have their own opinions and just let others think for them. Here’s a tip, be yourself, don’t let others choose what you should think, or who you should be. I have a feeling IW has done a great job with this game. I’m hyped!

    • Guess what? Its for the campaign NOT multiplayer. Don’t always get your panties in a twist just because you can’t read. (In case you didn’t know, you don’t have to play the campaign if you don’t want to.)

  5. Imagine if you could on your free time, go to the planets and just shoot enemies on your own like exploring.
