The first weekend sales report from UK is out, and Infinite Warfare is not doing so good this year. The charts shows that Infinite Warfare sales are down 48.4% compared to Black Ops 3 last year.
One of the reasons for this dip was noted because of Infinite Warfare not having a PS3 or Xbox 360 version, compared to Black Ops 3, but even accounting for that, Infinite Warfare sales were down 43.6 per cent, UK numbers company Chart-Track said.
Even with this numbers, Infinite Warfare was the second biggest launch in UK, just after FIFA. It still debuted at #1 on the charts this week.
However, GamesIndustry notes that revenue, on the other hand, did not dip as much compared to last year. Reports say the revenue only fell 25% thanks to majority of Infinite Warfare sales being that of the Legacy Editions, which are priced higher than standard. Legacy includes Modern Warfare Remastered, Activision’s best bonus content yet.
Activision issued the following statement: “According to GFK, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is the No.1 shooter/action game week one launch of 2016 in the UK. Our fans are loving the great campaign, deep multiplayer and ’80s inspired zombies, not to mention the incredible bonus content of Modern Warfare Remastered. We look forward to a great holiday season and beyond.”
Activision did note in their quarterly earnings last week that they do expect Infinite Warfare sales to be lower than that of Black Ops 3. Many reasons for this are there, including fan fatigue over the future setting.
