During Activision Blizzard’s Q4 Earnings Call, Activision confirmed that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare did not meet Activision’s sale expectations for the year.

Activision said “sales underperformed’ and confirmed that they heard our feedback, saying, “It’s clear that the space setting didn’t resonate” with a majority of the community.

Activision Blizzard Chef Operating Officer Thomas Tippl said:

“Activision’s November Release [Infinite Warfare] was a high quality, innovative game that paired with Modern Warfare Remastered offered a tremendous amount of value and gameplay variety. However, sales underperformed our expectations, and it’s clear that for a portion of our audience the space setting just didn’t resonate.

Activision confirmed that “Infinite Warfare was not the success we planned.”

While it wasn’t the success we planned, it allows us to protect the core tenants of our culture empowering our talented teams to have the chance to explore new opportunities that they are passionate about.”

Activision CEO followed up later in the call with more background into what happened last year. He said that the key thing they have to work on is striking a balance between what players love about Call of Duty and working on innovation.

As I’ve said many times before, any long standing franchise like Call of Duty there’s a balancing act that we need to strike between staying true to the things people love about the franchise and also the need to never become complacent and to keep pushing for innovation to keep the franchise fresh and vital. I would argue over a period of many years now, we’ve managed that balance on Call of Duty better than anyone.

He confirmed that last year, with Infinite Warfare, they failed to keep that balance for fans, resulting in many unhappy about how the game turned out.

Last year, I don’t think we got that balance right. Infinite Warfare had a ton of great gameplay innovations that many of our fans appreciated, but it also had a setting that didn’t appeal to all of our fans.

He went on to say that Activision is excited about Call of Duty 2017 striking the balance again, saying traditional combat is back.

The good news is is that I am excited to say that in 2017 we think we have this balance in perfect harmony, with a game that our teams are very passionate about with a lot of great innovations, but that also has the traditional combat that we know our fans are going to love.

The game is being made by Sledgehammer. They are a proven team, passionate about this title. We green lit it over 2 years ago now, and they’ve been hard at work ever since, and we can’t wait to unveil it to the world soon.

Without discussing too much about what we’ve got in our Call of Duty pipeline, I can also say that fans are going to love those games as well. We’ve never been more excited — neither creatively nor commercially — our 3 year Call of Duty slate.

  • So pretty this says Infinite Warfare 2 wont happen lol.

MW4 or a MW game it is for Infinity Ward’s next go around lol

    • hungryandrew

      Or, Call of Duty Ghosts:Redemption?

      • Mario Rivera

        LOL!!!!!!!!!!

    • ccrows

Hopefully no Infinite Warfare 2, Advanced Warfare 2, or endless “variants” of guns that are better than stock warfare…

    • jordanxbrookes

I wanna see Ghosts 2, but MW4 would be great 🙂

      • I rather see Ghosts 2 before IW 2. So now I wouldn’t mind a Ghosts 2. But I’ll still take a MW4 or a Modern Warfare prequel of some sorts lol

        • Qaotik

Imagine advanced warfare 2 without exos

      • Mario Rivera

        I liked MW3.

        • James Birdsong

How about Call of Duty: Cartel
That way I can enjoy slaughtering a bunch of Mexicans and it would be considered ok.

      • BradyAlucard

        I’d skip Ghosts 2 too.

    • CoDforever

Im actually sad. A sequel to the campaign of Infinite Warfare would have been amazing.

      • The campaign was good, shame everything else about IW was subpar

        • Mario Rivera

I beat the campaign on expert difficulty the first time through! lol

          • James Birdsong

There’s isn’t even an expert difficulty you moron.

    • RdJokr

How about a new series altogether? I don’t want IW to rely on the MW brand name forever.

      • Well considering the last two new brands they have tried to create have failed and considering they have a bad reputation, I think doing a MW4 or doing a MW prequel would be their best bet.

        • OEa

Yeah, because their last 2 games failed. Why not let them destroy our beloved sub-franchise, right?

          • I mean technically you can say they already did

        • BradyAlucard

I’m tired of the modern setting and so are a lot of people. Maybe in the future but the Modern Warfare series is donezo. You can’t have a Modern Warfare game without Soap MacTavish, but if they were to do another one, I’d say make a MW game where MW3 isn’t canon.

          • I’m tired of the futuristic setting and so are many people as well. I’m just talking about the game in 2019 when Infinity Ward comes back. Their best bet is doing Modern Warfare 4.

          • BradyAlucard

The futuristic setting only exists because modern settings got stale. I’m not just talking about CoD, I’m talking about the industry. Most Shooters are boringly modern. I play games to escape reality, not live it again. Don’t know why I’m so against it but I’d rather them go back to WW2/Vietnam like Sledgehammer and Treyarch might (but Vietnam’s pretty modern too tbh). The guns are much better in modern times so it might be more fun so IDK, might just be petty of me.

          • Cant really think of anyone else that has done Modern besides CoD or BF typical stuff like that. And Call of Duty has only done three modern games vs six futuristic games

          • BradyAlucard

That’s why I said “the whole industry is doing it”, I know there are 5 futuristic games and only 3-4 modern games (depending whether you regard the Cold War as modern or not). Modern Shooters have spammed the market, however and every other one is either modern or futuristic, but that also includes TPS’s.

So yeah… World War 2 please, preferably alternate history like Wolfenstein. It’s more interesting.

          • I’ll take world war 2, Vietnam and modern. As long as nothing includes boost jumping again.

          • BradyAlucard

I don’t want it to be too generic either, otherwise CoD would be going backwards not forwards over and over again.

          • Depends on what’s generic to you.

          • BradyAlucard

I’d say every CoD is “generic” but you can’t get more of a barebones experience these days from all of the CoD’s up until Ghosts. Technically speaking no CoD was “innovative”, really.

          • Call of Duty 4 was the most innovating actually

          • BradyAlucard

At the time? Maybe. But now I’d say either that or MW2. I want to include BO2 too but all they did was change the way killstreaks were earned and they added a new class system. Yay?

          • Well yeah at the time. If Call of Duty 4 released today it would just be another shooter. You have to understand that 2007 was a completely different time. Call of Duty 4 is in fact the most innovating and revolutionary Call of Duty yet and in the FPS market. MW2 or BO2 wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for CoD4.

          • BradyAlucard

I guess I needed to put more thought into it and forgot that we’re mainly talking about MP (because let’s be honest, CoD 4’s Campaign is not innovative, I just liked it despite it being generic); I’ve gotten extremely used to shooters (twitch gameplay, mainly) with XP, classes, and perks that I didn’t even know that CoD 4 either started it or improved upon it. I should especially be appreciative of CoD 4 because it brought a few RPG elements to Multiplayer, for example. CoD 4 also brought the cinematic, linear, hand-holding Campaign experience that I wish would be different.

To me, BO3 is the CoD 4 of this generation so far, for CoD at least. Like people such as Thunder, I loved things like the Specialists, but I liked smaller things like the Paintshop, Gunsmith, and shooting underwater. I even liked wall-running even though they took it from Titanfall.

          • As far as gameplay wise, I don’t think BO3 is innovating considering they took ideas from Destiny and Titanfall. As far customization goes, Treyarch has always went above and beyond and truly made customisation awesome in their games. Black Ops 3 is by far the best for customization. Which is one the reasons why I think Treyarch is number one and why I can’t wait to see what they do with aspect of their next game in 2018.

          • BradyAlucard

Not every Specialist was taken from Destony as far as I know, I just like that the people we play as have an actual identity now, and I don’t think they’re nearly as bad as some players think they are. As for the inclusion of wall-running I can’t really speak for it because unless Treyarch finds a decent excuse for it, it’s a blatant rip-off. I just enjoy it.

To me they’re all good, but I’ve only stuck with CoD for so long for Zombies anyway. I think SH (or Raven) and IW killed it this year though, so here’s hoping Sledgehammer continues with it.

          • The idea of specialists is from Destiny.

          • BradyAlucard

I know they are, at least some of them. But they also used it to add more of them. Maybe 3 Soecialists are from Destiny (Gravity Spikes, Annihilator, and Ripper). The rest are from other CoD games. Same with IW.But yes the general idea is taken from Destiny and Hero characters i.e. Overwatch.

          • Yeah that’s what I meant. The overall idea

          • BradyAlucard

And Heroes. Not sure where that originated. Maybe MOBA games.

    • Mario Rivera

How about Call of Duty: World At War Against Activision! LOL!!!!

      • Hahaha HILARIOUS! XD! LOL! BRUH I’M DEAD 😂😂😂😂😂

        • Mario Rivera

(BRO hug) Thanks, man. LOL!!! I doubt they’d go for it though, am I right?! LOL!

    • Infinity Ward’s next game will probably be the award winning Whatever Treyarch Just Did Mark 2.

      • I wouldn’t doubt it, they’ll just copy whatever Treyarch did the year before lol

    • they should remaster mw2 and mw3 as their next games that way they’ll have time to work on something new or whatever is trending

      • They should definitely not remaster another game after what they pulled with CoD4 lol

        • without the supply drops obviously, but we all know it’s not going anywhere lol

        • BradyAlucard

          I’m in favor of it.

I don’t care about Supply Drops, I want to see past CoD games with Infinite Warfare graphics. They look amazing in MWR.

    • MW Series is finished. It takes 6 years for a person to get it.

  • Jasy

WELL NO FUCKING SHIT ACTIVISION. The community has said since AW that we didn’t want advanced movement and futuristic settings. Yet they didn’t listen and this is the result. GG

    • jordanxbrookes

The developers can’t just scrap their project with 1-2 years of development already passed. The problem was that Activision told all 3 developers to make a futuristic game based on a set theme and to include advanced movement mechanics.

      • Duke of hazard

“The developers can’t just scrap their project with 1-2 years of development already passed”

Nah, you see I’m convinced that Infinity ward took less than a year on multiplayer. The entire concept of the multiplayer is literally from BO3 and that game came out little over a year ago. If you ask me, they used the majority of their 3 years on single player and it definetly shows.

        • PuddleOfStix

I agree, single player and zombies seems to have the most focus. Then a bunch of shit thrown at a wall to see what stuck, they realized it all stuck even if it didn’t work, and called it multiplayer.

        • BradyAlucard

THANK YOU. I’ve always wanted to say this.

    • snake56

      “the community”

    • GinsuVictim

Plenty of us in the community enjoy the advanced movement, but it’s time to go back to what made CoD awesome.

  • hungryandrew

    Well duh!!!!!

  • ccrows

Kinda obvious when you hide the leaderboards, and need BO3 and MWR to get you through the year…

  • jordanxbrookes

In other words, it flopped big time.

    • CoDforever

The campaign and zombies certainly didnt.

      • Mario Rivera

I got to round 111 on RAVE and got so bored I just quit. It’s too easy, kid. LOL!!

    • Mario Rivera

Except for all the money they’re making. lol!!

  • Former

Gee, good thing they confirmed it! I would have been clueless otherwise…

    • BradyAlucard

Off topic I have Rainbow Six Siege from Game Sharing and it’s really not bad.

  • CoDforever

The space setting was freaking amazing, but the game sucked.

InfinityWard did not execute the game very well. A space CoD could have been awesome (multiplayer wise, campaign was already a 9/10)

    • Ak74u

I agree with you the space setting to me was amazing they just could of done a better job for multiplayer in space. They could of had some really unique maps and gameplay

        • Mario Rivera

that’s what i’m saying, son! thank you!

          #walkintruth

      • Yes.

It seems that all of the best ideas get saved for DLC and DLC map packs.

The base maps were very poor.

And because we were without Grounded and Genesis for so long. And the problems on MayDay for Xbox users – it felt like I was playing the same 3 maps over and over and over again. It got boring in less than a week.

    • Sexy Mcgee

I think the core combat was good. Better than Black Ops 3.

One problem is that Infinite Warfare’s completely artistically devoid, and even technically looks like a step back from Black Ops 3. The game looks like crap. Just compare the droid from Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare. Everything looks like it was designed by a five year old. The weapons are the worst designed and modeled of the whole series and the “pew, pew” sound effects take away from the punchines of shooting them.

Another problem is map design. They’re all way too simple. You’ll learn everything there is to learn about them in a few matches and they get old really fast. Infinity Ward tried to do Treyarch arena style maps but they watered them down too much. There’s a good middle ground between Ghosts style maps and Infinite Warfare style maps and it looks something like black Ops 2 maps.

      • BradyAlucard

The graphics are objectively amazing, I don’t care what anyone says. I agree about the rest though.

      • Jay Evan

Most of the elements from Bo3 and IW were designed by the same person, Aaron Beck.
I think that’s why IW looks duller, due to him not having much to work with anymore.

    • Mario Rivera

Your not lying, but don’t be ignorant – they will tell the shareholders what they need to tell em to keep em buying those shares! LOL!!

    • BradyAlucard

Luckily that’s not a fact and there are many people who enjoy it. In regards to myself it’s the only CoD I haven’t gotten in the past 10 years, but that’s not the game’s fault, it’s the genre’s fault.

    • Honestly if the space setting translated to the multiplayer I would’ve bought it. It would’ve been a ballsy move to revamp the movement like SHG did with AW and I would’ve given it a try. Even though I didn’t like the game, the main reason I didn’t get it was how annoyed I was that they made no effort to improve on BO3’s multiplayer.

But yeah like BradyAlucard said below, everyone would’ve hated it either way

    • ʟ ɪ ɴ ᴋ

I bet you enjoyed ghosts and AW too, didn’t you ya cunt? you’re part of the reason COD has be trash for the last 6 years. I’m sure you’re only about 13/14 anyway, why don’t you go play club penguin while it’s still here. retard

      • Dre

Lmao. Well said L I N. Go play star wars if you like space you fucking cuntards.

        • Qaotik

So it’s fine when every other shooter on the market like Titanfall and overwatch hit the market, but don’t even dare doing that with call of duty?

      • people nowadays can’t argue without pulling the age card, and since you pulled you have no room for argument.

        • ʟ ɪ ɴ ᴋ

I see we have a COD fanboy here to say anything he can to defend the game. ghost and AW and IW and even Bo3 were great games weren’t they? don’t you just love the supply drops and jetpacking your dick in each others mouths?

          • Does it feel good trolling for attention?

          • ʟ ɪ ɴ ᴋ

I could roast you now but since you’ve caught me in a good mood I won’t. Yes I troll people. Mostly idiots (no offense). I’m just sick of what’s happened to the once great game I played as a child. I don’t have a problem with you but call of duty will never be any better if we just sit with our mouths closed and let all the 8 year olds drive sales through the roof for the worst fps on the market. I remember when call of duty was fun. Bo2 and back. I’d even play ghosts ovee what’s out today. So yes I do enjoy trolling the little kids that say “call of duty in space was an amazing idea” “I love iw”

          • it was an amazing idea but poorly executed, there’s a difference buddy

          • ʟ ɪ ɴ ᴋ

It was a terrible idea. Go play star wars

          • i do play star wars actually

          • StabTheNight

Can you stop being a dick? I hate COD too, but I don’t feel the necessity to beat up people over it because they still enjoy it. If they wantto play that literal shit, then so be it. Find something more productive to do yourself.

          • ʟ ɪ ɴ ᴋ

agreed lol but why are you taking up for her lol? is it because its a girl?

        • ʟ ɪ ɴ ᴋ

oh nevermind, i see now that you are female. i wouldn’t even replied because of how irrelevant womens opinions are on COD. on a side note, who wants to bet that isn’t her in the pfp. I’ll be my house, my xbox, my pc, everything I own. I bet you’re really fat.

      • CosmiChampion

Hey calm down. I was 17 when AW came out and it was amazing played it for hours on end. Just because your upset that you didn’t get the cod you were asking for doesn’t mean you have to take your anger out on someone else.

      • jordanxbrookes

I loved Ghosts, but hated AW, so I guess I’m a semi-cunt right?

        • BradyAlucard

          Even Chasm Sovereign Stonehaven Ghosts?

Meh, maybe on current gen where it has Ground War, but on 360, that game was abysmal.

        • ʟ ɪ ɴ ᴋ

if that were the case then i would be a semi cunt too. I liked ghosts better than anything after it but i wouldnt say i liked the game

      • Can you take a chill pill? We all have different opinions.

    • ʟ ɪ ɴ ᴋ

I bet you enjoyed ghosts and AW too, didn’t you ya cunt? you’re part of the reason COD has been trash for the last 6 years. I’m sure you’re only about 13/14 anyway, why don’t you go play club penguin while it’s still here. retard

    • RebornAngel666

just write cod or COD. Why CoD? like… so fanboyish ew

  • ccrows

“He confirmed that last year, with Infinite Warfare, they failed to keep
    that balance
    for fans,”

^ No the “balance” that Activision forgot to keep with IW was making supply drop variants more important than the game. When people buy a game, they should not feel like their $60-$100 purchase of stock guns are INSTANTLY OUTDATED on day one!

IMO, DLC guns should never be better than stock, and MWR probably has the best SD system (since we’re stuck with it) that you can buy ANY weapon with salvage, and it’s not chasing an OP variant at the same time either… (AKA – it’s just another regular gun to use)

    • Supreme

Yup! Someone gets it over here!

Not buying this garbage anymore if weapons stay locked behind a paywall & RNG

  • PuddleOfStix

Great. Call of Duty was never a space shooter. Let’s keep it somewhat realistic, please. Black Ops 2/Goats was as futuristic as it should always be.

    • PuddleOfStix

Also, don’t they say stuff like “I can also say that fans are going to love those games as well. We’ve never been more excited — neither creatively nor commercially — our 3 year Call of Duty slate.” EVERY year? They thought I-Dub was gonna be a success?

  • Duke of hazard

“Activision’s November Release [Infinite Warfare] was a high quality, innovative game”

What? The game is a half assed copy of BO3. The only thing innovative was the singleplayer.

“The good news is is that I am excited to say that in 2017 we think we have this balance in perfect harmony, with a game that our teams are very passionate about with a lot of great innovations, but that also has the traditional combat that we know our fans are going to love.”

In other words, boots on the ground is back. We will see. I was damn near close to quitting competetive (and Cod entirely), but if the next Cod reminds me of BO2, then I’ll stay.

Competetive is what ruined Call of Duty in the first place… And before anyone answers me with some dumb shit, look at some videos or THINK of a reason before arguing…

      • Duke of hazard

You forgot to mention that Cod has been competetive since Cod 4 (or probably even before that). You also forgot to mention that BO2 was higly competetive, yet it was enjoyed by both comp and casual players.

        • BradyAlucard

CoD 4 only had a side-competitive mode in which less than 5% of the community played, so no, CoD 4 was not a competitive game. BO2 was one of the worst CoD games until they almost got rid of SBMM entirely. Other than that, BO2 is one of the most casual CoD’s.

But really neither games are “competitive”, they only have competitive options. I don’t see a huge emphasis on “skill”-based gameplay on either games, especially in CoD 4 which is the most basic CoD other than the first 3.

      • BradyAlucard

        You’re right, it’s a fact.

    • BradyAlucard

They probably mean “innovative” when it comes to the Singleplayer, to be fair. Then again, I don’t think the Multiplayer was half-efforted either. By that logic, BO3 is a half-efforted AW because technically all they did was add a thrust meter.

Bro, are you trying to give somebody a seizure?… 🙁

      • Mario Rivera

Bro, can you be positive? Being negative and sarcastic gives you wrinkles. lol

    • Mario Rivera

I’d play as the 54th Mass! lol

  • Ak74u

To be honest I don’t mind the space setting it’s cool to me but I think they could of done a better job for a space based game

    • Mario Rivera

It didn’t hardly have anything to do with space except the backgroundz. Combat could have taken place in Arizona! LOL!!!!

  • SoulTaker

I sometimes feel bad for Infinity Ward as much as I hate on them. They can never win with the fans nowadays.

  • Jimmy

Sledgehammer are just as bad as Infinity Ward so it doesn’t matter what era the game is set in as the game will likely suck and then Activision will ruin it with P2W supply drops anyway. COD is dead and we all know it and the last good game we had was BO2 on the old gen. Times have changed and people have moved on and 4 terrible COD games in a row should be definitive rather than delude people.

    • GinsuVictim

“4 terrible COD games in a row should be definitive rather than delude people.”

You’re the delusional one if you think we’ve had 4 terrible CoDs in a row.

      • Right instead it was a two bad games (Ghosts and AW) then a good game (Black Ops 3) then another bad game (Infinite Warfare)

        • Mario Rivera

BO3 stank more than my baby’s diapers! LOL!!! Come on now!

          I liked AW.

          • I didn’t like AW, but I could tolerate it more than Ghosts and IW. I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t some fun elements to it. But still overall i didn’t like it.

        • BradyAlucard

Infinite Warfare isn’t Ghosts bad. Not even close.

          • Kinda is

          • BradyAlucard

Not at all. It doesn’t deserve that reputation. Ghosts had the worst maps and design in CoD history.

          • Lol so does Infinite Warfare. It’s bad

          • BradyAlucard

Not at all. Its maps and “balance” destroy Ghosts’s. “Balance” (since I don’t believe it’s a competitive game, I refer to it in a design standpoint) destroys MW3’s too

          • Qaotik

Dude, Ghosts was horrible and so is IW

          • BradyAlucard

That’s just, like, your opinion man.

      • BradyAlucard

        Right?

Infinite Warfare doesn’t suck on an objective level. I’d rather play BO3 and IW than BO2 and Ghosts.

    • Batman

      WTF?

SLEDGEHAMMER is by far the best CoD developer, their dedication and post launch support is unmatched, their courage to innovate, their engine and hit detection are the best in cod currently, their gunfights feel amazing btw.

This year will be the best CoDever

          • Mario Rivera

What have you ever done that would qualify as “innovative”? I’ll wait. lol

          • I don’t need to do anything innovative in order to criticize a lack of innovation from a dev team. Your logic is retarded.

You have a mindest of a 12 year old.

          • Didn’t realize I had to specify if I was saying objectively or not. Should be common sense when someone say a game is bad or good that it’s subjective. I shouldn’t have to spell it out for you

          • BradyAlucard

In proper context one could take you literally. It’s why so many people have to add “IMO” to their sentences. People act too absolute.

          • It’s not my fault if you or someone took me literally. You should have the common sense to know the differences of subjective and objective.

          • BradyAlucard

It’s not obvious, but we all do it unfortunately. Sometimes our opinions seem to be too absolute so of course we’ll overreact sometimes.

          • It is obvious.

          • BradyAlucard

            It’s not

          • You already replied to this comment. Anyway I’ll be captain obvious this time, that’s not objective.

          • BradyAlucard

So many comments I didn’t think it did. Color me triggered I guess.

I know it’s not, it was meant to playfully mock how absolute people can be.

      • they won’t blame supply drops when they’re raking in millions from it smh

    • Group_935

It was both. Space setting is boring, true cod fans always preferred modern or old fashion warfare compared to the Halo theme.

    • Mario Rivera

You punish smokers for how bad cigarettes are for your health? lol

      • Astraxis

I said that in reference to Activision’s statement, not to the customers. Why are you being defensive?

    • Keshav Bhat

Nope, nope, nope. This is wrong.

Activision is minting $ from Drops. The IW sales being talked about here is the game’s overall sales. Supply Drops are doing just fine for Activision. No matter how much many hate it.

      • Astraxis

But it’s the reason the whole ordeal didn’t “resonate with the customers.” I wouldn’t mind the space theme if it wasn’t for those god forsaken supply drops.

        • GinsuVictim

The trailer that got downvoted into oblivion on YouTube was not about supply drops.

      • PuddleOfStix

As much as I don’t like or hate Supply Drops (a bit of balancing and they’d be fair for Activision and for us), I agree completely, Keshav. The money is there. The Supply Drops will be a staple going forward. But IW didn’t sell as well for many reasons, and SDs is only one of the reasons.

  • Jay Evan

A bad story told well can appeal to a lot.

A good story told poorly leaves some uncomfortable.

Infinite Warfare is the latter. The political ideas of SDF vs The UNSA and the tone and visuals of the setting were great, but they refused to utilize its potential.

  • The Rabid One

You had Titanfall, Destiny, Halo for all the space setting needs, but COD tried doing some freakin weird hybrid that many did not like.

I’m happy they are going back to the past, hopefully it won’t be way too far back in the past.

    • ccrows

They copied BF with Ghosts. They copied TF with BO3/IW.

It’s just what Activision always does when they see a direct competitor for that particular release year…

      • Keshav Bhat

Not even possible! Games are in development for 3 years, can’t alter a game to match that years competition.

        • BradyAlucard

CoD devs are probably good enough to do something like that in terms of skill tbh. But I’ll ask this question: How did Sony and Microsoft get their consoles to be so similar? To me the same can be applied to competition in gaming; they could have insiders. I mean… how did AW copy Titanfall’s double jumping and how did BO3 and IW copy Titanfall’s wallrunning so fluently?

  • Johnny
  • Batman

“Activision’s November Release [Infinite Warfare] was a high quality, innovative game”

LMAO I can’t think of one single minor or major innovation on it.

Even MW3 had more innovation than this shit

    • Yeah they keep using that buzzword. Like literally what was so innovating about Infinite Warfare? Lol

      • Mario Rivera

What have you ever done that’s so innovative? Oh, would that be nothing? Thought so! LOL!!!!

        • I’m like at lost of words on what to say because it’s really hard to tell if this is satire or if you’re genuinely stupid.

      • The Rabid One

        Robot Dog walkers.

      • BradyAlucard

Mission Teams and Salvage mainly. I even like how they handled the RIGS where you can choose both a buff and weapon. Not different at all in comparison to other games with hero characters but it’s something I prefer to BO3 where it was much more limited.

        • What was so innovating about Mission teams and salvage

Mission teams are literally a glorified contract/challenge system and salvage is just a second form of currency in the game. AW was actually going to have some sort of salavge system but didn’t add it to the game

          • BradyAlucard

A random fact that AW wanted to add it but didn’t doesn’t invalidate IW’s Salvage. Say whatever you want about Mission Teams, but they’re a fresh idea that’s welcomed and preferred to the traditional boring “contract/challenge system”. There are the traditional challenges and then there are Mission Teams that give you even more for Salvage or a weapon or what have you, and Salvage is better than having a restrictive Supply Drop-based currency. They’re fresh and innovative, like when Treyarch introduced CoD Points and Contracts into BO1. No reason for there to not be another currency like Salvage in future games. Just saying it’s welcomed.

          • It’s really not innovative. Sure it’s nice, but not innovative.

          • BradyAlucard

I guess by that logic Treyarch and Sledgehammer haven’t done anything “innovative” either. They don’t have to innovate the industry as a whole, just making CoD fresh. I’m sure we’ve seen them as features in other games I’m not saying that they’re not in them.

          • I never said they did. Treyarch and SHGames definitely didn’t innovate anything. (Besides BO2 really)

          • BradyAlucard

I personally don’t see how BO2 is “innovative”. Pick-10 was neat but not innovative

          • Pretty sure it was. It was better for customization and allow you to do anything with your class. Especially scorestreaks was pretty innovating.

          • BradyAlucard

Yes, but in a game where the guns should be the main concern, Pick-10 is also a bit restrictive. Surely innovative but I’d consider Mission Teams and Salvage to be pretty “innovative” too. And weren’t scorestreaks added in MW3 first in the form of pointstreaks?

          • MW3 had the idea first but i dont think points counted towards the streak unless it was an objective. Where as BO2 you can get points to a streak via assists, destroying equipment, pretty much anything that could get you points. The pick ten can be a bit restrictive, but I thought it innovated the create of class nicely. You don’t want a secondary? Throw it out for an extra perk or grenade, literally anything. So it may be a bit restrictive in some cases, but overall it was great.

    • BradyAlucard

What? Well… maybe in some ways, but Multiplayer was a complete failure. Far worse than IW at launch.

They’re mainly talking about Campaign and Zombies though.

I’m glad they came out and said this. Majority of the community didn’t like the futuristic setting and now they are making it sound like the next CoD will be a boots on the ground shooter. Im hoping for a Vietnam or a MW4 with MW2 style streaks.

    • Mario Rivera

      People will still complain. lol

  • Piotr Piter

I’d say space setting can be good but just leave vertical aspect of game. Let people run and jump like in previous tittles. And then timeline doesnt matter, look at BO2

  • Well, that’s another potential sub-franchise down the drain. Maybe they’ll revisit the Infinite Warfare universe once the fans get tired of traditional boots-on-the-ground gameplay again…

  • Eddie Tupy

COD is too mainstream, its destined to fail now. Thats the only problem. When it was a smallish game it was cool but now its ruined because it has to appeal to EVERYONE cuz money. I really feel bad for the cod devs, its a lose lose situation for them.

  • Schwartz

I would say keep the Campaign team of Infinity Ward, and let Neversoft(now IW) make zombies or other coop game mode. And change the multiplayer team of Infinity Ward with Raven Software.

        • Sentinel

          You are very incoherent, sir.

  • ʟ ɪ ɴ ᴋ

Somebody needs to fire the motherfucker making the decisions for activision. like wtf man. I hope it isn’t really in 3rd person or there is an option to switch between the 2

  • Qaotik

I don’t hate the future setting, in fact I love it. But the problem with Infinite Warfare was that the multiplayer is disfunctional and is not too different from BO3. I loved the campaign, but not excited for everything else it offered.

It’s pretty much the reason why I sold my legacy edition, but I used the money I got from it to finish building my new PC. So at least the game did something

“In response I would say name 1 innovation.”

      Mission Teams?
      Buying items with Salvage?

By all means I’m not a big fan of IW, but I would like to see buying things with salvage come back in future CODs…

      • I don’t play the game, could you explain what mission teams are please?

I’ve heard that salvage is earned from Supply Drops and some weapons are exclusive to Supply Drops and if the focus and only innovations are in the micro transactions then it shows how little respect they have for the players.

        • BradyAlucard

No, the innovations aren’t through “microtransactions” themselves but better ways to earn unlockables. It’s much better to include Supply Drops than have all of the microtransaction content be severely overpriced and separate of the Season Pass. You’d have to pay full price again for the Season Pass and again to get all the content in the game.

I much prefer currency and RNG. Burn me at the stake I don’t care.

          • Fair enough and that’s a good argument but I’d rather choose what I’m getting – I don’t by camos or ridiculous melee weapons but ranged weapons – I would buy (although I would 100% prefer they be added for free).

          • BradyAlucard

Everyone would rather it be free. Since it’s post-launch content, it needs to be included in the Season Pass, and that’s why everyone’s frustrated. But, then again, people would still prefer having to be forced to pay a ridiculous $4.99 for one weapon. EACH.

          • BradyAlucard

Yep. Season Pass “free” > Supply Drops “free”. Surprised nobody has sued Activision for price gouging yet.

Mission Teams (in a nutshell) are kinda like field orders from Ghosts.

AKA – Follow the instructions to play a certain way during that round/game, and get rewards like salvage and guns when you level up…

          • How is it innovation if it’s just field orders with a different reward?

      • GinsuVictim

Mission teams are huge. It’s more reason to play and another goal to work toward while playing.

        • BradyAlucard

          CoD’s biggest innovation in years.

        • ccrows

Mission teams do help me keep my sanity when randoms aren’t even attempting to play the OBJ in Dom… 😉

          • GinsuVictim

Oh, and the thing I forgot to mention is Mission Team challenges cause you to explore other classes, rigs, and game modes you otherwise might not have. This will help keep some modes populated that might have died out in other titles.

    • BradyAlucard

The Campaign is what they’re mainly talking about.

Set aside whether the space setting was liked since everyone has a legit opinion there…. How about dedicated fucking servers?! WTF Activision… Enough of the host advantage BS. Enough unloading a clip on the dude with a 400ms ping. Enough bullshit in cod games. Exo suits and such may be OK but on a level playing field.

  • StabTheNight

I think COD needs to realise that they are under one title, not three. If the producers just came together to create one game every year, I honestly believe it would be perfect. Infinity Ward can focus on the campaign and environment, Treyarch on the multiplayer content and the extra game mode, and Sledgehammer can bring it together with their great map ideas and general aesthetics. We’d see the best title that way, all the good points of the different companies combined would make up for their flaws.

    • GinsuVictim

Even with all those people working on it, there’s no way to pull it off in just one year (they wouldn’t have a full year either).

      • StabTheNight

With 3 companies, I’m sure they can do it. They just need proper time management. And if not, I’d still rather see one good game every two years than a cycle of trash.

“Activision’s November Release [Infinite Warfare] was a high quality, innovative game…”

    They’re really pushing it there.

  • IveSeniorTaco

    How are they “Just” noticing?

  • Joe Prior

The campaign was good but the multiplayer was shit zombies was okay but not treyarch zombies

  • Michael Romo

Well the Campaign was the best one in years, so there’s that

  • Ed

Space setting was fine. it worked well for campaign. It really has no impact on multiplayer. Its not like we are fighting in zero gravity or anything. I think its more about advanced movement and supply drop rng.

I think if they started this game out with a tactical playlist with all modes like tdm and snd and dom, as well as an advanced movement playlist, although people would still find things to nitpick like leaderboards, the game would have done a lot better.

  • Hellmetal

It’s not the setting, its the core fundamentals of the gameplay, and selling stat changed weapons in lottery boxes. They basically need to redo the engine and game mechanics from the ground up and take some risks. this just goes to show that the top guys over there are so out of touch with their own product line. instead of taking cash to make a better game they are throwing down on more supply drops.

  • No, they just made a shitty game that no one asked for and rather wanted there to be a better sequel to make up for Ghosts or another Modern Warfare game (NOT remastered). I mean you know a Call of Duty game’s not doing well when Ali-A didn’t really upload a lot of Infinite Warfare videos. Then there’s the supply drops and weapons that weren’t meant to be in COD4 that were put in there anyway. PLEASE, MAKE IT STOP!!!

  • JoyFear

I honestly love this game, no I’m not a 14 or 13 year old kid. I’m 16, I just like the game because yeah sure I had high hopes since reveal trailer, but I still thought it would be different. I thought we’d have a zero G movement instead of more stupid wall running. I still like this game and I have very high hopes for it, I’ve been playing COD since WAW. And to be honest, my favorites are AW and IW. I love the futuristic setting…except BO3, that was a piece of shit in my opinion, only like the Locus and SVG. But I just think that people should stop saying that this is Star Wars…yeah it was funny in the beginning…but now the jokes done. It’s a dead meme, just because it’s different from anything we’ve had in the future doesn’t mean it’s the worst thing ever. Everyone has their own opinion and that’s okay, every game copies each other in some way, shape or form. Digimon copied Pokemon, BO3 copied Halo because of some of their calling cards, Modern warfare copied every other modern warfare style game. Like no game is 100% original, and that’s okay. But I think IW making a comeback after this dlc

  • jt3z

I actually love the space setting, its the damn boosting that i cant stand. An d the lag the last few COD’s has been downright bad.

  • TOOwolf

Lmao the game was great my favorite thing is how much they made this game futuristic mw2 down to bringing back ‘commando lunge’ with the combat knife (if you used your permant unlocks right). and it went right over all the og cod fans heads. They brought zombies back to arcade simple style. Even gave you remastered so you could compare and enjoy the progress. Yet it’s all the old original mw2 cod fans that ended up letting me down by never giving it a fair chance to at least get a decent weapon from the Qmaster first. I’ll leave it by saying this if anyone else played their market competition games.. battlefront, battlefield, and destiny, you’ll see where they ripped all the best ideas from all these games and made it their own in both bo3 and iw. I give most things a fair chance and this game did very well for what it has to do in the market and for what they wanted fans to be able to enjoy. Thanks
