Amazon Japan listing shared by @Wario64 has revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered could become available separately starting June 20 on PlayStation 4.

The Amazon Japan website has a different listing for the Xbox One version with a July 20 release date, which could mean PlayStation 4 will get Modern Warfare Remastered separately 30 days early.

The June 20 release date was first revealed by US retailer GameFly, which posted the same dates on their website earlier this year for PS4 and Xbox One versions. Late last month, two German retailers also listed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered release on their websites for June 23, but those listing have since been removed.

Activision has not stated yet when or if Modern Warfare Remastered will be available separately.

That’s a high price if you equate it – Β£54(Roughly) / $70(Roughly) / €63(Roughly). Obviously the price isn’t final, but I’d wait for the price to drop personally.

    • PDX Guitar Freak

I noticed that the screenshot says it is for an “import” version… I’m not sure if that is standard language for games coming to Japan from US publishers, but based on the description saying it might not work properly on Japanese consoles, I’m willing to bet it’s not standard (and therefore would be considered a special version of the game, just like when we see the word “import” in a video game ad). That’s my guess, at least. Also, previously, the original German leak had it selling for roughly 40 Euros, which sounds more realistic – or at least more fair πŸ™‚ Last, I think we need to take into consideration that the cost of goods can be different by country… that said, I’m not sure if Japan sells video games at a higher or lower price than we do, and therefore I don’t know if we can simply convert Yen to USD to get the US price. Anyway, I agree with you – if that’s the price, I would definitely wait.

  • Buruck Obuma

haven’t got MWR yet due to exams, i know its late to ask but, is it any good?

    • If you can look past that the whole supply drop system, (which ironically is the best system yet. But i still think it’s fucked they added it to a remaster none the less) it’s a good remaster and fun to play.

    • jordanxbrookes

      It’s not COD4, but it’s ok.

      • Qaotik

        That’s why it’s called “remastered”

        • GinsuVictim

          But it’s not a remaster, it’s a botched remake.

          • Qaotik

Botched? I don’t know about you, but it’s still a fun game. Extra content is welcome, I mean Halo anniversary did it. What they should fix is the server tick rates. Like come on, 20hz is pathetic

          • GinsuVictim

Prop Hunt is the only time I play MW:R now.

          • Qaotik

            Same

          • jordanxbrookes

            Same.

          • ccrows

I tried that for a little bit over the weekend. Wasn’t a fan of the mode, but played it only for the 8 keys per match (since it was DBL Keys) while working on something else…

          • GinsuVictim

It was RAINING keys this weekend in that mode. I enjoy Prop Hunt anyway, but the amount of keys was the main reason I played!

          • ccrows

“It was RAINING keys this weekend in that mode.”

IKR! I thought it was a glitch that I OG got 8 keys, and after the 2nd match I was like, “Welp, I guess I’m gonna be playing Prop Mode” for a while. lol

The crazy thing is that I didn’t figure that out till Monday, but I still managed to get plenty of keys before they turned it off… πŸ™‚

          • ccrows

IMO – The game is fine (QSers weren’t a thing until MW2’s peak).

^ That’s really the only problem that I have with this game. That’s also why I avoid BOG/Countdown, and I’m still having fun.

The only thing that I could see being botched is that they never sold this seperately at launch, and if they ever put those rumored attachments in, then I’m probably done… (and will just stick with BO2 till COD WWII)

          • Peewy 978

          “Reimagined”

          • Qaotik

If it were reimagined, it would be an entirely different game like Prey 2017 and Prey 2006. That’s why it’s called remastered and not reimagined

          • jordanxbrookes

It is a different game. I don’t recall Supply Drops, DLC Weapons, Melee Weapons and more being in COD4. I’m surprised we haven’t seen DLC Killstreaks or Perks in it yet.

          • Qaotik

I don’t remember seeing dual silenced smgs and environmental hazards being in Halo 2, but the anniversary version has them and we love it. And now that you mention it, don’t give them ideas

    • Paul

Is it good? Yes it feels the same to the original, supply drops aren’t that bad with character customisation, weapon camos, titles and emblems and you earn salvage really easily so you can try and unlock your dlc weapon of choice. Overall a really good underrated game

    • jakeebyrne

it’s not modern warfare remastered it’s basically modern warfare reimagined

    • ccrows

If you hate QSing, just avoid BOG and Countdown, and you’ll be fine.

^ That to me is the biggest difference and problem (besides SD) that’s different from the OG COD4.

If you play with stealth, (to me) it still has that OG COD4 feel to it, but like I said I usually play stealth whenever possible…

    • romoisafag

dont waste money it doesnt feel like the OG cod4 at all, the game is full of campers m16s, snipers and kiddies with their bought SD weapons.
plus raven hasnt even fixed the original guns, they feel like shit except the m16 and the AK yet the supply drop weapons feel OP as fuck.

  • Person

Why the hell would they do two separate physical releases of the same game that’s already had some version of a release?

  • Diego Diniz

COD WW2 is coming! Why not RIGHT NOW on all platforms?

  • Lol PS4 gets an actual game first 30 days before Xbox? Yeah, this deal is much worse

    • DEMOLITION12

      they already both have them

    • BradyAlucard

No, it’s not worse. Both deals suck.

      • Don’t recall Microsoft having a CoD game release 30 days earlier before PS3 and PC. Or hey pre order Black Ops 1 on Xbox 360 to play the campaign a month earlier than PS3 and PC. This is worse

        • BradyAlucard

It’s not worse. World at War had a beta and it wasn’t even available on PS3 at all. You’re talking about a remaster, not a brand new game. Just making sure; are you sure you’re not speaking out of bias for Xbox? Because, believe me, if this was an option for the Xbox deal, it would have happened. Period. They’re literally the same deal.

          • Except it’s irrelevant if its a remaster or not. It’s an actual game. An actual game that’s getting a 30 day deal. A pre order bonus to play a campaign 30 days early. And are you not speaking out of bias for PlayStation? Seems like you’re defending them by saying these 30 day deals aren’t worse. Especially seeing how it’s actually including games.

Also regarding the betas, PS4 got the beta two weekends for IW. While Xbox got it once and PC didn’t get anything.

          • BradyAlucard

Yeah, I didn’t mean any offense by it but it didn’t hurt to ask. That’s a difficult question to answer – whether or not it’s PlayStation bias – but since I’m saying “both deals suck” and “both deals are the exact same” in order to be as fair as possible for everyone, I’ll say no. It just seems rather biased to say which one is “worse” so I won’t, it just seems distasteful. Factually speaking, they’re literally the same deal bias or not, remaster or not. They’re both annoying, except PlayStation guys had to deal with it for *8 years* and so will Xbox guys unfortunately. So, yeah, it sucks for everyone which is why I even replied in the first place; it’s not worse because the deal never changed from the Xbox one.

In regards to the IW beta, that’s a one time thing. We got the BO3 beta twice on Xbox One and PC (but PC won’t get the WWII beta at all, for good reasons at least) so that counts for something. Same thing with MWR – that was arguably a one time thing to get people to buy IW.

          • So saying one deal is worse means a person is bias? You don’t have to be an Xbox fanboy or a Playstation fanboy in order to see how this deal is worse because it is.

Sure, did Playstation have to deal with it for 8 years? Yeah sure, that’s not cool. But you guys never dealt with ACTUAL GAMES release 30 days earlier. A pre order bonus to play a CAMPAIGN 30 days earlier. All you guys had to wait for is DLC and DLC alone. In the two years of you guys having it, we wait for DLC, an actual game, pre order bonuses, having less time with the beta or with the PC case, not beta at all.

            >So, yeah, it sucks for everyone which is why I even replied in the first place; it’s not worse because the deal never changed from the Xbox one.

Okay, if it never changed then tell me when Xbox One and Xbox 360 got to have an actual game to play 30 days early. Or pre order bonuses. It’s very clear Sony’s contract has something more it in than just DLC.

            >In regards to the IW beta, that’s a one time thing.

So we’re just gonna disregard it and not say it counts? Alright then the WaW beta thing doesn’t count then either.

          • BradyAlucard

You say the deal is worse, but I say it’s the exact same deal and the timing was bad. Not objectively, it’s our opinion.

I didn’t own a PS3 last gen. I owned a 360 and was excited to not be at the receiving end of receiving Zombies maps – which can be considered “full games” if one wanted to – early. I just knew it sucked for them.

It seems more like Activision’s decisions changed, not the actual contract itself, because if microtransactions are received 30 days early, you know they would have done the same for a remaster. We’ll never be able to see said contract though.

Did I say it “didn’t count” or even that MWR “doesn’t count”? No. All I said was that it was a one-time thing, and that’s because the beta was given too late.

          • >You say the deal is worse, but I say it’s the exact same deal and the timing was bad. Not objectively, it’s our opinion.

What does timing have to do with MWR coming out 30 days earlier on PS4? Just by those two things that have happened, this deal is worse and itll probably continue to happen. If it was truly a one off it would have ended with that shitty campaign pre order bonus.

            >I didn’t own a PS3 last gen. I owned a 360 and was excited to not be at the receiving end of receiving Zombies maps – which can be considered “full games” if one wanted to – early. I just knew it sucked for them.

One Zombies map has never and never will be equivalent to a full game.

            >Did I say it “didn’t count” or even that MWR “doesn’t count”? No.

No, but you say they are same and you provided a reason with the WaW Beta. So I give you the IW Beta and both cucky MWR deals. That’s three.

            >No. All I said was that it was a one-time thing, and that’s because the beta was given too late.

One time thing? It happened twice in less than a year.

          • BradyAlucard

            > “What does timing have to do with MWR coming out 30 days earlier on PS4?”

Not MWR. The beta of IW’s timing was bad.

“Just by those two things that have happened, this deal is worse”

No, they’re the same deal and Activision just made different decisions. I’m not saying that said decisions aren’t worse, I’m saying that on-paper it’s the same deal and if Xbox still had said deal, the same thing would have happened.

“If it was truly a one off it would have ended with that shitty campaign pre order bonus”

Hence the point. MWR itself seems to be a one off in order to secure profits for IW.

“One Zombies map has never and never will be equivalent to a full game”

You were complaining about a beta and playing a Campaign 30 days earlier were you not? Are you saying that Zombies maps that are fuller than any MP map in existence shouldn’t be described in the same vein as a Campaign, even though it has cinematics like a CoD Campaign, is more open than any CoD Campaign, and was treated like a separate full game in BO3? If they were WaW maps you’d probably be right. Not that it’s MWR standards of a full game but in my POV, Treyarch Zombies as full as a CoD Campaign, and it sucks for Xbox users too so no double standards intended.

Yes. Reason being was because that game and MWR are special cases. I doubt it will happen again until there’s another poorly-received CoD game, since WWII’s beta is happening much sooner I don’t think it’ll happen again this year, hence it being “a one-time thing”.

          • >No, they’re the same deal and Activision just made different decisions. I’m not saying that said decisions aren’t worse, I’m saying that on-paper it’s the same deal and if Xbox still had said deal, the same thing would have happened.

So you’re trying to tell me this isn’t in the contract and it’s all Actvision? Explain the two weekend deal again this year then. The samething is happening with the WWII beta like last year.

One zombie map doesn’t equal a full campaign nor a full game. Your argument here makes zero sense. It never has, it never will.

            > Yes. Reason being was because that game and MWR are special cases. I doubt it will happen again until there’s another poorly-received CoD game, since WWII’s beta is happening much sooner I don’t think it’ll happen again this year, hence it being “a one-time thing”.

Yet PS4 gets the weekend twice for the WWII Beta and Xbox One gets it once and PC gets nothing. Sooo

      • jordanxbrookes

It is worse. With Xbox it was just DLC. With PS4 it’s DLC, a Campaign and now a full game. Even if it’s a one-time thing for MWR, it’s still bad. I agree exclusivity shouldn’t be a thing for CoD these days.

        • BradyAlucard

I don’t want to say either deal is worse because sometimes people come off as biased. To me, there’s the MWR point, and then you just look at the petty things in the Xbox deal like microtransactions; imagine if Supply Drop content required Xbox players to wait a month. And wasn’t the World at War beta not even available at all on PS3?

        • BradyAlucard

And in actuality, they’re the same deal. If Xbox still had the marketing deal, you’d see MWR a month early on it too.

  • I don’t agree if they are gunna try selling this for Β£40+, feel this game should be around Β£25-30.

And PS4 is going to get a whole game 30 days early, a whole COD game? Are you fucking crazy?

My main console is PS4 but that’s fucking ridiculous, I won’t be surprised if we’ll get future COD games first on specific consoles, ewjh

    • Why release a fucking game 30 days early if it’s already been out for time just because you’re selling it separately? Jesus christ wtf is going on with Activision.

Sadly, that’s probably Sony’s doing. But that doesn’t change the fact that Activision is doing greedy things too, definitely not. $60 goddamn dollars for a re-release of a 10 year old game is absurd.

  • Gamerazor247

Be hilarious if it’s sold at $50-$60… err, unless it includes the unnecessary paid for Map Pack and “bonus” Supply drops… remember that? Supply Drops in Modern Warfare?Kappa

That’s what’s so stupid. It’s a game that has *technically* been out for months already. They did this with the PS4 and being able to play the campaign 30 days early, now they’re doing it for a standalone release?

  • TheShwantz27 (Brian)

If we go based on the screenshot there, it’s selling for 7776 Yen, which is the equivalent of 70USD. Seventy fucking dollars. We have to remember that goods and services don’t always cost the same, when you try and buy them in other countries. However, I have no idea what video games typically cost when new in Japan. Also, the screenshot says it is for an “import” version… not sure if that is standard language for games coming from US publishers, but based on the description saying it might not work properly on Japanese consoles, I’m willing to bet it’s not standard (and therefore would be considered a special version of the game). Finally, if they try to sell it for $70 in the US, that would be a bad move on their part.

      • jordanxbrookes

Still though, even if it’s $60, it’s much more than many expected.

        • ccrows

Unless they are gonna try to do a forced DLC 1 pack with supply drops bundle with that.

        • PDX Guitar Freak

Yeah I agree – doesn’t seem fair to sell it for new release full price… unless their strategy is to get people to throw their arms up and say “fuck it, I’ll just buy the Legacy edition.” πŸ™‚ That would truly be fucked up.

  • Why even bother at this point? Worst sales decision ever.

    • Well, it isn’t.

They can make money from doing it, so they’re gonna do it.

      • They’re releasing MWR standalone 7 months too late, at the price of a full game, when you can now get the Legacy edition for less than that. Plus they’re making Xbox gamers wait an extra month on top of that, when WWII is just about to be spotlighted at E3 and completely steal the limelight.

I can’t see a single thing about that that would be a good sales decision

  • Ayob Rossi

Many claim that MWR is boring so it should cost around $30

    • romoisafag

more than boring its fucking atrocious, it doesnt feel like the original cod4 at all. lots of m16 and wanna be OpTic sniperz everywhere, supply drop weapons are OP as fuck and nearly impossible to get if you dont sit on your ass playing 24/7 or spend like $500 dollars on COD Points, the color filter is soo bad that you cant even see your typical camper sniping you from the other side of the map, bullshit after bullshit i could go on all day telling you why buying this POS that they have the balls to call “remastered” is a bad idea.

      • Peewy 978

Dont listen to ccrow he’s just on Activision’s Dick thats we he agrees with everything Activision has to offer

    • ccrows

The only major difference (from COD4’s peak) is the increased QSing. Skip BOG and Countdown, and you’ll be fine.

Sure there’s SD weapons too, but they’re not as OP as many make them out to be. Both SMGs suck. The XM (AR) is a sloth, an accurate sloth but still a sloth in fire rate and especially reloading – plus it has ugly irons. The BOS (AR) shoots faster than the AK47, but also has ugly irons and does less damage than the AK.

On the plus side, the SD weapons help cut down on the M16 (which still functions EXACTLY the same as before).

TL;DR – It’s basically COD4 (at its peak) with increased QSing, and a few extra guns…

  • I Don’t Read Replies(So Dance)

Where’s the cynical Hugo at? Surprised he ain’t here crying about something.

  • Gilbertify

Holy crap, what an awful business decision all around. It’s crazy enough that the game hasn’t been released standalone already, but June 20th AND PS4 gets it 30 days earlier? I and many others will be long gone from caring about the game when late JULY rolls around. Almost fucking August is when it will release for PC and XB1. That’s nuts.
And don’t get me started on the price. Converted from Yen to USD, it’s around $60-70. They’re seriously going to charge full price for a remaster? You hardly see remasters of 7th gen games being sold full price for a second time. I’ve only seen a small handful of games do this, and you guessed it, it’s usually greedy companies like Activision who have done it.

    • Peewy 978

      Got that right

  • Megacon89

All I hope is that the digital version we all own currently will no longer need the IW disc to start as I hate having to put in IW and it then try and re-download it again when it could be so much easier not having to need the disc.
