Activision Support has revealed that players who bought the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition will continue to need to use the Infinite Warfare disc to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, even though Modern Warfare Remastered is now standalone.

If your version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was included in the Legacy or Legacy Pro Edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, you still need to have Infinite Warfare installed and use the game disc to play Modern Warfare Remastered.

Nothing changes if you have the Digital Editions.

Of course you do, why wouldn’t you?

This company is the scummiest of the face of the Earth.

      • GinsuVictim

What does that have to do with them trying to keep people from stealing their game? I’m on Xbox One, where the game just uses the IW disc to start the download. If you didn’t need the disc after the install, you could just pass it around and give everyone you know a free copy of MW:R.

        • Elite Predator

That makes no fucking sense. MWR requires a code Sherlock. Requiring a complete separate game in disk to play the remastered is forcing a game down the consumers throat. You would think ppl we’re okay the ones that bought the bundle. The fact they’re still making us require IW is forcing it down our throats. So how exactly would ppl be passing it around to get a free copy of MWR? You really need to think critically about what you just said.

          • ccrows

Listen, I don’t like it either. However what would be the purpose of somebody buying the game separately for $40, when they can sell IW and possibly get it cheaper?

Like I said, I’m not thrilled about hearing this, but I also get why they’re doing it… 🙁

          • Elite Predator

It’s all in their plan. Schemes dude.

          • ccrows

Obviously the whole thing comes down to money.

& It is a shame that people are still gonna need to hold onto their IW disks. Hopefully at least “that” changes after year 1.

IMO that would be stupid if people still want to play MWR a year or two from now, and still need an IW disk… <_<

          • TheCoolGuy

You gotta look at it from a company standpoint, doing this makes more money.

          • Elite Predator

Yeah, but from where I am I can speak from the consumers perspective. The only reason why they act like this is because they’ve grown accustomed to that mentality. It doesn’t matter what they do that gains them extra money. Even if it means fucking us over, they’re going to sell millions and millions of copies every year.

          • GinsuVictim

See my other comments. We’re talking about two different things.

        • Elite Predator

I also can’t believe you’re justifying their reason LOL. I’m so done. People are oblivious

          • GinsuVictim

Justifying why the Xbox One version requires the disc. It’s a different situation from PS4.

        • Elite Predator

I really don’t know where your confusion came from but it’s irking me. Or you just like to start an argument with everyone on here. You can’t play MWR without the code, thus if you bought IW alone you still have to buy MWR from the store. So how exactly will people end up getting the game for free?

          • GinsuVictim

            First off…..calm down.
I said the Xbox One version, which does not have a code AT ALL. It uses the IW disc as authentication.
I agree that it makes no sense for the PS4 version to require the disc.

          • Elite Predator

So.. you’re saying the Xbox version doesn’t have the legacy edition?.. The remaster comes with the game, it just uses the IW disc as authentication.. or a person could just buy IW used.. I highly doubt that’s the case simply because Activision would lose out on money like that. This is the first time I’m hearing this. I will research, but dude I highly doubt what you’re claiming man. I just looked online to look up on your claims and I found nothing but in the norm of things..

          • GinsuVictim

A used Xbox One copy of the Legacy Edition still includes MW:R. It’s tied to the disc, so if someone sells the game, their install of MW:R won’t work without the disc, but the next owner will be able to download it.
PS4 copies don’t have this luxury.

Lol says calm down when he’s arguing GG give the kid more thumbs upsss!

          • GinsuVictim

Look how unhinged the guy is. He didn’t even know the Xbox One version doesn’t use a code and just shat his pants in post after post. He finally understood, but boy did he fly off the handle.

        • Lazeyestboy

Actaully when you get the disk you get a code for MWR, it doesnt download both games from 1 disc they’re two seperate games, its just the IW disc is requiered to play MWR playstation Gameshare purposes

          • GinsuVictim

I know. I specified Xbox One version.

  • Lord Beerus

    That is RIDICULOUS. Absolutely RIDICULOUS.

    • ccrows

I already figured that this was gonna happen, that’s why I bit the bullet and went digital.

Don’t wanna go looking around for an IW disk, when I just wanna play MWR…

  • ccrows

Also FYI – Shipment is back in the TDM rotation…

  • Figures they would do that. Is it just me or is Activision slowly losing more and more fans and money?

  • Michael Romo

Doesn’t matter. I don’t even have IW installed on my PS4 and I can play it. Although I do have it on a hard drive, so I wonder if that counts… But I can play MWR without plugging in my hard drive…

  • tarheels_forever

its official. activision is WAAYYYY more greedy than EA. infinite warfare is such a bad game imo, that i sold it months ago. i rarely played mwr anyway. however i figured if mwr was ever sold seperately that they would unlock it for those that bought the legacy edition. and if so i might play mwr some. WRONG! as usual activision showed their unparalleled greed! but its all good. when i get home from work im deleting mwr and activision wont have to worry about me playing mwr again.
