In the ongoing Reddit AMA, Sledgehammer Games’ Condrey has confirmed that Supply Drops are returning in Call of Duty: WWII. They have stated that all weapon variants and gear will be cosmetic only, and no stat-based changes to weapons in Supply Drops.

All weapon variants and gear variants in Call of Duty: WWII supply drops are cosmetic only, so there are no stat-based variants in play. We’re also offering players Collections and Collection Bounties, giving a direct path for our community to earn items through all modes of MP and Headquarters play.

    The title cracks me up

Ok, you all see this right? So no one can say a couple of months after release that SHG didn’t say supply drops will be “cosmetic only.” But I think we all know what’s gonna happen.

    • Gabe

They didnt say the supply drops themselves would be cosmetic only. They were saying all of the variants were cosmetic only so there wont be any stat based weapons.

      • Elite Predator

Yeah, it also says that it is in plan, I don’t like the sound of that. Because at any moment with a legal right they can change their “plan”. Tricky Activision and SHG can’t fool us anymore.

      • Jon Jackson

“All weapon variants and gear variants in Call of Duty: WWII supply drops are cosmetic only, so there are no stat-based variants in play.” I think most people (including myself) really only care about the weapons when it comes to supply drops. I don’t mind weapon variants/DLC weapons as long as there is a fair way to earn them without spending any money kinda like MWR’s supply drop system.

    • Elite Predator

Yeah, it’s started sinking in. Because they’re “planning”. We all know how that term turned out in the past.

  • GinsuVictim

We’ll see how long “cosmetic only” lasts.

    • LOL exactly

“Cosemetic only”… at launch. It’s important to look at potential loopholes

    • Hoosier2017

I’m thinking that this means that stuff like lipstick and eyeshadow will be in the supply drops

  • Guest that’s still a guest

Welp. Who’s honestly surprised? And we all know cosmetic only at first.

  • imBATMAN

    weapon variants ey?

    • Elite Predator

Yes, but they confirmed it’s cosmetics like the weapon kits in MW:R

  • YoungMurf

Hmm… I get the feeling they will purposely not put in a few WW2 weapons, so that they can later add them to being available by Supply Drops only.

  • Elite Predator

I dropped and died as soon I read this article. I am so excited and now I’m officially on board!!!
They’re also going with the MW:R approach in unlocking all supply drop cosmetics. This is exciting news and this builds a bridge and a balance for everything. Hopefully salvage is earned through in game.

    • YoungMurf

You haven’t seen what they have done the past two years when they said ‘cosmetic only’ I take it?

      • Elite Predator

Yeah, I got so excited that the second time I read it, I got sucked in. It’s “planned”. Right..

  • Elite Predator

They say they’re planning, as if at any moment their “plan” can be changed.. like it has in the past.

    • Nothing changed ever changed. People believed cosmetic supply drops would be a think in BO2 and MWR, but it wasn’t confirmed by developers at all.

  • KING_BORICUA24_

Thank The CoD Gods, let’s cross our fingers and hope they will keep the weapon variants cosmetics strictly, stat based Variants killed AW and somewhat IW. Hopefully they have a Salvage system like in MWR to get new weapons using an in game currency earned through gameplay. Its way better than 3Arcs bullshit SD system tbh.

    • As long as WWII and future titles duplicate and improve on MWR’s system then I honestly will never see a problem with supply drops again

  • jordanxbrookes

We all know it won’t be Cosmetic Only in the end.

    • Keshav Bhat

Weapon variants/gear at launch will only be cosmetic only. He’s not ruling out post launch content.

      • DEMOLITION12

he just did rule it out. they lie

        • Keshav Bhat

          Where?

        • He ruled out stat changing variants.

        • Elite Predator

“All weapon variants and gear variants in Call of Duty: WWII supply drops are cosmetic only, so there are no stat-based variants in play. We’re also offering players Collections and Collection Bounties, giving a direct path for our community to earn items through all modes of MP and Headquarters play.”

He ruled it out, then he slipped it in there in another post, discretely “at launch”. But they’re letting it sink into our heads. Because they know if they bring in all the bullshit at once, many won’t buy it including me. So I don’t get why they’re adding them post-launch. That’s so low

      • Elite Predator

Why are they doing this? They suck us in and once they get their sales they start the bullshit

      • jordanxbrookes

Of course he’s not ruling out post launch content, because you, I and everyone here knows it won’t be cosmetic only after launch.

    • What month did Raven broke their promise that it will be cosmetics only. I believe it was February or Match but I can’t remember.
Either way it depends on how successful the launch is going to be. The worst the sales the sooner we will have Supply Drop Only Weapons.

      • Qaotik

Driftor claimed that they said they were supposed to be cosemetic only, but there’s an article on here where Raven stated that everything will keep to the balance of the game and the silhouettes of the characters.

      • Vikrant Singh

who the fuck cares, everyone still camps with the M16 w/ RDS

  • vizzak
    • Ray

10/10 use of this GiF. GG sir!

      • ToxicChimp

me too because they were saying the same for modern warfare remastered but what do you know they added more guns

  • Drank Bleach

Same shit every year, post launch and they add weapons and tons of other shit, the same people who praised this game early on will hate it and then can’t wait for next year’s cod…Yawwwn.

    • TMZ Censored Me

“the same people who praised this game early on will hate it and then can’t wait for next year’s cod…Yawwwn.”

I’m just curious, but if you dislike the game then why are you even here?

      • Not the person who you’re replying to but I would be subject to the same question so I’ll explain myself and maybe I represent them too.

I love Call of Duty, I do not come here to hate, however when I see a franchise I love subject to such nonsense that spoils it for me, of course I’m going to complain because I want the game to be what I want to play, as everyone else does, so we’re all free to voice our opinion on what we want from a COD game – we’re not here to hate, but to try and show that we do not stand for this rubbish. I saw it ruin BO3, knew it would come in IW, so didn’t buy that (also MWR looked incredible but I’m not buying IW just for it and now that MWR is dead and filled with Supply Drops I’m not getting the standalone edition), I will not buy WWII (on launch) but have hopes for its prospects for the series but if it’s just a new setting subject to the same ATVI nonsense then I have no interest, I follow the game because I care about the franchise and want to see what it could become, giving my voice as we go along, so maybe there will be a COD I want to buy again – no doubt I’m getting next 3arc title though because I love their zombies mode.

  • Now they’re on record saying something is going to be cosmetic only.

  • InfectedJello

As long as it’s cosmetic. I swear if they pull a bo3…

  • They didn’t specify EVERYTHING in supply drops will be cosmetic only. Mark my words, they’ll find a way.

  • If like some people just read the “cosmetic” part and and are just thinking “oh he is saying cosmetic only.”

  • QuickzZ-_-GhosT

Condrey just cracked me up lmao “cosmetic only” ahahahaha omg yo I’m dying here .

  • I give it til March tops before they throw in Supply Drops only weapons.

    • January

      • Depending how the game sells. IW got it in December/January because it’s sold shit and they didn’t even bother.

  • ToonToons22

“All weapon variants and gear variants in Call of Duty: WWII supply drops are cosmetic only…”

Be sure to keep this in mind. When Activision comes out with exclusive weapons and game-breaking variants, they’ll show us what greedy crooks they are once again. I wonder if it’s possible to file a class action lawsuit against them for false advertising…

    • You can but you would probably lose because they have layers that are working for layers.

    • christopher woodhead

It’s not false advertising. He’s purposely not said that there won’t be any NEW WEAPONS added to SDs.

  • Name

They’re going the route of MWR right? I’m cool with that but don’t act like there won’t be melee or new weapons down the line, most people have wizened up and are already expecting it lol I am legitimately excited though, i thought the beautiful engravings on the guns in BF1 were awesome can’t wait to see some WWII weapons like that again last time i think we saw something like that was WaW zombies

  • As long as the supply drop system is similar if not the same as MWR’s I’ll be happy, going to be a bit sad to see some stupid ass non-WW2 related melee weapons in there if they do go down the same route as MWR though – hoping the weapons they may plan on adding stay in line with WW2 weapons.

  • Alex Wi

    “cosmetic only”
    my ass

    • They didnt say it was going to be cosmetic only.

      • ICutOldPeople

        Yes it does.

        • No, they didn’t. Did you even read the article or did you just see the word cosmetic?

          • Dante

All weapon variants and gear variants in Call of Duty: WWII supply drops are cosmetic only, so there are no stat-based variants in play. That says cosmetic only right there.

          • “All weapon variants and gear variants in Call of Duty: WWII supply drops are cosmetic only.”

Literally READ that quote. This quote clearly ruled out WEAPON VARIANTS. No where did that quote say supply drops are cosmetic only.

          • ICutOldPeople

You must not of read the article because it says cosmetic only twice.

          • No, it’s either you don’t know how to read or you like to twist shit.

            Literally READ this quote.
“All weapon variants and gear variants in Call of Duty: WWII supply drops are cosmetic only.”

All. Weapon. Variants. And. Gear. Variants. In. Call of Duty WWII Supply Drops. Are. Cosmetic. Only.

This doesn’t state everything in supply drops is cosmetic only. This clearly states that weapon variants and character gear do NOT change stats.

    • Hitman

and historically accurate cosmetics at launch…AT LAUNCH! lol

  • Michael Romo

By that they mean that they’ll add in new guns later.

Either that or they’ll do the challenge system like in IW for new weapons

  • Ralph Evans Games

Fuckin bullshit. I’m done with CoD. I don’t care if it’s cosmetic only. That doesn’t change the fact that a 60 dollar game has microtransactions. And they’ve had a knack for putting in weapons later on, even though they promised only cosmetics.

  • DnBskillZ

if they do add weapons in SDs just dont buy them for a week if they see that money aint going up you’ll get them for free

  • Tested

“cosmetic only” They have said this before and then lied.

  • Hitman

“They have stated that all weapon variants and gear will be cosmetic only” Bait and switch baby!

  • Now seeing as this is a new game, even if they decide to put new weapons in, I’d be alright with it. Just as long as A) they’re appropriate for the time period B) not over-powered and C) if they don’t put too much weapons in it like Black Ops III did. Because even if I was given a choice to choose the best game from Advanced Warfare to Infinite Warfare, and I’d choose BOIII, it had WAY too many weapons and it stunk because It’ll probably take me more than five years to get them all. Whereas with Advanced Warfare’s supply drop weapons, I only have a few more left to collect. “Less is more.”

  • Mario Rivera

They don’t have to be dicks about the supply drop system tho. They can really go crazy with outside of the box cosmetic changes without affecting stats in any way. They can turn my MP40 into a water hose if they wanted to and it will be just fine as long as all of its stats like TTK, recoil and reload speed stay exactly the same. People would soak shyt like that up and it won’t have any impact on balance whatsoever so everybody wins. The Knife alone can literally be endless crazy things off the top of my head and im not even that creative. I’m still waiting to slap kids with coat hangars and belts lol.

  • deeznoox

The exact same shit that was said about BO3, yet now there’s all these powerful weapons that are hard to get through their gambling system

  • remember they said the same with black ops 3

  • Peewy 978

Ya I heard this when MwR came out! Cosmetic Only BullShit!! Same Shit when IW Said u can Only get MwR through Legacy Edition, then look what happened shortly after!! Sick of all the BS just Keep it 100!!

  • christopher woodhead

People really need to learn to read properly. He says “weapon variants will be cosmetic only”. No mention of actual NEW weapons that will be added in SDs. I’d say it’s a purposely misleading statement.

  • DreOfSpadez

Yeah the new guns that nobody can get are cosmetic

  • This is the only company to officially confirm supply drops being cosmetic only. Also, Treyarch NEVER confirmed cosmetic supply drops would be in Black Ops III.

  • Eddie Tupy

i just hope they at very least do it the way of mwr, where you can earn the specific guns.

  • Jacob Murphy

I don’t hate supply drops but It was ruined because of the addition of COD points and weapons
