Treyarch has finally spoken publicly about what PS3 fans can expect in regards to a HDD install option. Unfortunately, David Vonderhaar has confirmed there will be NO option for installing Black Ops 2 onto the PS3 HDD.

But, “Black Ops 2 has an option to “Install Textures to HDD,” posted Vahn.

“When we explained to PS3 folks that installing to the HDD wouldn’t neccessarily give us any significant performance gains, they explained back that the issue is they play so much it puts constant stress on the Blu-ray drive and wears them out.

It’s a non-trivial amount of HDD space to install all the textures. I don’t want to get into exactly numbers because anything can, and does change during development.

You don’t have to install to enjoy the game. We still pre-cache like we did on Black Ops.”

At least they are doing textures. I hated going into MP and seeing my character be a smooth polygon and transform into a character after 20 seconds of texture loading.

could just wait 7 or 8 months and buy and download it from the psn store.

i dont get none of this… anyone care to explain ?

people would like the option to install the game directly to their hard drive and not have the disc in the console to play the game… sorta like if you download a game from the playstation store or from xbox.

  • Did they do this on purpose to make the ps3 people mad? o.o
