David Vonderhaar recently discussed how Treyarch will be handling feedback on weapon balancing.

Black Ops 2 has a new internal feature called Black Box which allows them to analyze player data and see what is actually happening. “What we said was we need to balance the emotion of using something, like your personal visceral reaction to it, with math,” design director David Vonderhaar told me. “There’s a lot of instrumentation in this game, there’s a lot of data logging, so I know exactly what the power band of a weapon is at all times.

But how will they handle feedback?

“So combining your opinion with mathematical fact is the way we can handle this and that’s only possible if the game is instrumented well, and it is,” David continued. “Like a whole new level of instrumentation, it’s crazy cool. Data nerds would just die if they had any idea what kind of stuff we can yank with this.”

He went on stating with how the player feedbacks can be determined false instantly:

“I’m just going to kill people with facts [with] this game when they come over and go ‘This thing is OP.’ I’m going to go ‘Actually it’s not OP, you’re wrong.’ I’m not going to yell at them or anything, I’m just going to tell them the truth. I don’t have to hide this stuff from people, just drop knowledge bombs on guys. It’s gotta be done! What people are doing is reacting emotionally, and I’m like a really emotional guy so I get it.”

Overall it seems that Treyarch has deep control on the Black Ops 2 systems and will deeply analyze data before changing anything in Black Ops II

One of the things i lamented most over in Black Ops 1 was finding a gun i really liked and then waking up the next day to find it completely nerfed. In the end it would be better to just put 40 varieties of wet Kleenex in the game to fight with,

When searching for games before you select a game type, hit square on ps3 or whatever button that is on Xbox and change your search settings to “best” this will search for games that best fit your connection type this giving you no lag or next to no lag. – You’re welcome.

I’ve been getting lag-compensated ever since the official day of release and I have a 6 ms Ping (104 download, 4.9 upload)… Supposedly the Black Ops 2 matchmaking was to be based on latency and ping unlike location as with previous Call of Duty titles; yet clearly this doesn’t appear to be the case seeing as I am yet to pull host or find myself in a lobby wherein my bullets actually inflict damage and I don’t die to the magic bullets from the enemy team. As for selecting the “Best” option under matchmaking preferences, that isn’t a 100% ‘fix’ to the problem. In fact, to be honest, I’d say that doing so only works for around 10% of the hundreds I’ve read/seen/heard about that have selected it. As with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, once again the player with the ‘good’ internet connection is hindered, though it seems the extent of this lag-compensation is on a completely different level; it’s like lag-compensation on steroids! I could only think Treyarch failed to adequately plan ahead for the mass number of players their game would have on multiplayer at any one time – clearly the servers are failing to handle the 4500,000+ online individuals. However, in saying this, I still have faith that they will get the game back on track and playable soon. …At least I hope so!

        doesn’t work. your welcome.

Wanna know what happens when I do that? I get a game that I can’t connect to. Go figure.

    lag fix please

  • Themariosplay

Too soon to talk about any gun balance. Before that… FIX THE LAG!!!!

  • buff the boomsticks

I hope Treyarch nerf one of the guns cause people camping with M27 cause it has low recoil, The skorpion evo, Remington, and any assault rifle with Target Finder is way over powered and over used, and plus they need to take out the drop shot

plus they need to buffed up guns like MSMC or other guns that not been over used, the MSMC needs more damage and I can get good kills and hit markers due of the bullet damage

    • COD Junkie

MSMC has the highest damage per bullet in close range (40)…long range all smgs have the same damage per bullet ( if i remember correctly 18)

All I want fixed and away with is quick scoping… This is BS and they know it. My fix, no magical aim assist until a second AFTER you can see.

    • COD Junkie

QS takes skill mate ( I never QS in pubs – only in private games with friends) the bad thing about some snipers is the camping in high grounds, hiding and hardscope…

      • Argy

QS is about timing and abusing the games built-in system. The fact that people are already doing it proves that its still too easy. I’m not saying to completely remove it (because that seems impossible), just make it SO HARD that half the people who don’t snipe normally stop doing just that.

Of course, if they really want to stop QS then maybe they’d make a map that was actually perfect for snipers and not SMGs

  • Firesong

FIX THE LAG. Nevermind This will probably be my last COD anyway.

  • COD Junkie

Good game BUT…the hip fire in this one is ridiculous…laser sight or not everyone sprays with SMGs. Bunny jumping and spraying/hip-firing. I don’t have any problem if i am getting killed by a drop shooter or a bunny jumper and I am not going to B***** about the smgs.. but just buff the AR a bit…they seem useless atm and i like playing with the AR but at the moment are a bit useless as i am forced to use smgs to be competitive but i NEVER hip fire as it takes no skill at all…
