Infinity Ward is really pushing to make the best PC game with Ghosts. Mark Rubin has confirmed that the PC version will have the best graphics out of all the versions of the game available.

“PC is taking a different tack from previous games [in the series,]” Rubin told Kotaku during a phone interview earlier this week during Ghosts’ big multiplayer reveal event.

Older versions of Call of Duty, at least from Infinity Ward, the makers of the CoDs that come out in odd-numbered years, were built with the same graphics assets as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games. “Now, PC has its own set of assets,” Rubin said. “It’s going to look better than any Call of Duty we’ve ever made on PC.”

As of now, they aren’t willing to talk about whether or not the game will support dedicated servers.

UPDATE: To clarify, PCs will no longer be held back by consoles, and it’s pretty much confirmed that ultra high end PCs are ahead of next-gen consoles…

  • Xzeetz

    Is that really a surprise?

    • Mitch

To me it is, since Ghosts doesn’t really look that spectacular on consoles when you compare it to other games.

      • Xzeetz

That’s just COD, maybe in 3 years the devs will be used to making good looking games on the next gen. The reason of the bad graphics on current gen is to keep the 60fps. The PC version is just a port with a few optimized settings.

+ After watching JackFrags gameplay in full HD (Watch in Original) I felt like it was still decent.

        • Jon Cameron

What you’re forgetting is that even 1080p (or even 1440p for that matter) doesn’t look as good as when you’re actually playing it.

          • Right youtube doesnt show the original quality even if you choose the Quality option Original

          • HH KiLLaMaNiLLa

What alot of people don’t realize that the console versions of game say 1080p but actually run at 720p max res. And the Next Gen will actually run at full 1080p. Hopefully higher with the new 4K TV’s coming out

        • Jarhead

People are not realizing that the graphics is nearly on par with Frosbite’s but still alot old elements from the past few games are still there. Just few more tweaks on the graphics engine and people would stop crying.

        • Yea me too if you ask me better than bf4 because you can see better

        • HH KiLLaMaNiLLa

One of the best quality vids on this i’ve seen yet thank you.

      • TheCheeseWeel

FYI, the gameplay you have seen is on PC’s not consoles. at the launch event they were PC’s with xbox one controllers

        • HH KiLLaMaNiLLa

Yeah i read that they were running on PC’s with Next Gen Specs

          • Brenden Marino

No such thing as a PC with “next gen” specs. The specs that are coming out for the consoles, have been around for PC for years now. But to develop something like that to use for a console, is whats next gen about it. And the funny thing is, people are hyped on the 8 core CPUs on these new consoles, but dont realize how downscaled they are.

      • Korflock

All the ghosts gameplay you see was on a PC with an XBOX ONE interface for the controls…..

  • Cyber-Ninja

WOOP WOOP!!! Not a surprise but definitely a welcome boost for the much forgotten #PCGamer. Let’s all hope that the PC version has even more ‘EXTRAS’ over the consoles? Viva la Revolution!!!! ;O)

  • fsdgasdg

i dont want more graphics than the xbox one/ps3.
i want unlimited fps(like bo2. mw3 was limited to 90) i want fov up to 100, atleast 90. and i want DD servers

    • Sdesser

The fps cap was there because the old engine worked around frames. If you increased fps to certain numbers, the game engine would work in unintended ways.

      • Jon Cameron

I remember this being true in CoD4. The higher the FPS you had, the higher and further you could jump. That’s why 90% of the bounces in CoD4 were possible, because people were running at 250 and 333 FPS.

        • ImViTo

Yeah As a codjumper i know a lot of that is weird 125 fps in cod4 gives u further jumper best for parallel jumping 250 Moar of 125 and 333 make’s u to jump higher but if u go like 1000 fps the movement will be so decrased.

          • Jon Cameron

It kind of works the same for viewmodel FOV in TF2. The higher the value, the more you see of your weapon. But if you go too high, your weapon ends up being upside down.

I know the higher FPS thing was an issue with the engine and ultimately an exploit (333 FPS was banned in leagues lol), but if the devs allow players to exploit the engine via quick scoping, they should allow bounces.

          • Primey_

1000 fps? good luck with that

          • Jamie Hudson

it’s not that hard to get 1000 FPS, i can on max settings with GTX 660..(on a codjumper map)

    • Auptyk

I push 110-120 fps on BO2 according to FRAPs. I run a Geforce 570. The FoV on BO2 can be set to 90 using the in game menus.

BO2 also uses dedicated servers. We are match made to dedies on PC. There are just no admins (badmins) or private owned servers.

      • fsdgasdg

dont use can make the game show you the fps without using it..
i play on pc dude i no what we have and dont have

        • Auptyk

Just ran a test and the in game FPS meter reports about five frames per second more than fraps. I held between 115-125 the whole game according to BO2’s counter. There is no 90FPS cap. My friends are all pushing the same or higher.

I am just pointing out that all the things you complained about already exist in the game. … or close. You wanted 100 FOV, they only offer 90.

          • fsdgasdg

try to read kid, i said that have all that on bo2 but not on mw3 so i want it for ghosts.

      • Jon Cameron

Thrown into a random dedicated server isn’t what we wanted. I shouldn’t hope I can find games at under 100 latency. It’s also sad when I’m more than happy to play a game at 80 ping.

        • Auptyk

Actually a lot of us did want that. BO1 was a freaking nightmare to find games on after about 6 months, and it wasn’t because of lack of servers. It was because Admins kicking anyone that was better than them. I had an admin straight up tell me he was only kicking me because I was consistently putting up over a 2KDR on his server. He didn’t even think I was hacking. That ruined that game for me.

With this system I get the connections of dedicated servers, without the risk of being kicked by children admins. Especially now. In BO1 my KDR was around 1.7, my B02 KDR is a 2.10 … I wouldn’t even be able to play the game anymore if there were admins.

          • Jon Cameron

You realize that the host that provided servers for us in BO1 was GameServers, right? They’re probably the worst people you can rent/buy servers from. I’m not kidding when I say that either.

Whether or not you you believe that there are a lot of servers with a lot of badmins, there are still plenty of servers within your preferred range that don’t have admins who abuse their power.

This community sucks dick, and while you might see that by reading half the shit people write, you see it a lot through the hands of someone with any power on the game you want to play, but just like any other game out there with dedicated servers and a server browser, there are still plenty of servers that are populated that you can be a regular at.

          • Auptyk

There wasn’t in HCDOM. And granted I could go and play other game types… but I shouldn’t have to for that reason. HCDOM had roughly 20 servers or so that were consistently full. I was banned from at least half of them.

I get accused of hacks almost every other match in BO2. AT A BARE MINIMUM once a play session. At least with this system they can only report me and move on.

Yeah, Gameservers wasn’t the best. However, with the exception of that first few months which was unplayable I never had issues with connection (never have in any CoD) it was completely the admins.

          • Jon Cameron

GameServers being shitty goes into a whole branch of problems, but that’s another thing. As for your server problem, I’m sure one of those 20 you could have regulared just fine. If it so happens that you are banned from every full server for your preferred game mode, well then you’ll just have to compromise and play your second favorite.

          • Killerfishmonkey

the game was ruined for me when I picked up a leopard print AK-47

  • Antal120

It doesn’t matter now. Most of the PC community has emigrated to Battlefield. I have heard that only a 10% of this collective play Call of Duty on PC.

    • HH KiLLaMaNiLLa

which is a shame because COD runs so silky smooth on PC. It’s a night and day difference compared to console. Eventually more people will start buying PC’s because of steam alone. Steam is by far the most amazing way to buy games i only buy games on sale and my Library is at 140 after 9 Years of dedicated service.

      • Korflock

The reason I’m not on PC yet is because I don’t have the money to spend on a high end gaming PC. $2000 is just starting out, that is if you want a good quality, high processor, that can run multiple of programs in the background.

I have a $600 dell laptop and it barely runs CS:S. I played the MW3 free2play weekend and my computer just could not handle it.

        • masteroc

think your on cloud nine my friend ? a nice gaming rig for $700-800 is not unheard of . you dont need the best of the best . a midrange gtx 760 will pull the pants of a console all day long and ever heard of amd ? 8 core fx 8320 is not top dog but still 2 x powerful then whats in the ps4 on ghz alone.

        • yash

I have a boutique style computer with OC GTX 660 Ti, i5-3470, 8 Gb Ram in a Bitfenix Prodigy Case all for $850 in Canada. In the US it is even cheaper so if you pay $400 for a PS4 or Xbone ($500), or +$400 more for a gaming rig. I personally think the amount you pay for games on consoles makes the PC the better option since it has multiple uses and performs better.

        • Marcus Barnett

That was your problem, you bought a laptop…… You loose on power for mobility. Don’t mix in desktop with laptop prices and hardware ranges. They are immensely different.

  • MrHotShot118

    WE all knew this anyway!

  • that is the best thing past years πŸ™‚ itΒ΄s time to upgrade my PC and play on Ultra resolution :O

    • HH KiLLaMaNiLLa

      Yeah buddy can’t wait πŸ™‚

  • Alex | FamousIsLIVE

I wish they would show a Current Gen to Next Gen graphic differential video.

  • DidUknowiPwn

I just hope that there will be more things to offer than what’s offered in Black Ops 2. Such as, PROPER dedicated servers and more importantly mod tools. If mod tools were reintroduced than the PC community may not die (note: MAY).

  • MeisseN

Best graphics, least players online and worst service make the PC version. Sometimes it’s strange how things work

  • zecmikokot

“ultra highend pc”, you meant 700 dollar PC?

    • More like over 800dollar πŸ˜€

  • Hugo Valente

look at games like bf3 or crysis 3 in terms of graphics that games are in a class far superior of bo2 . these new cod should be at least on pair with those games minimum . dedicated servers to people rent , yes there will be admins that abuse power , its ok , the server will be empty … because there will be so many to play . pc need dedicated servers to have decent way to people compete with each other . cod is the same every year , the learning curve of the game is one month and that ‘s it . weapons need more recoil to PC games , and please dont make SMG’s OP as f*** . because on PC with mouse we can be a lot accurate . in case that there’s no dedicated servers make the time to kill on weapons faster than consoles because later in the year there will be so much less player that the game is a hit maker machine .

a quote from a few years ago “PC Gaming is Dying”

  • yeya

Does anyone here know what what u will need for power in your pc to play cod ghosts on pc

  • devashis nanda

This means cod ghosts campaign mode for pc gamers and all other modes for console gamers? with all their matchmaking system for pc we feel betrayed. I have made a mistake of pre ordering ghosts for pc. Cod games are not for pc anymore, i will keep this mind henceforth. R.I.P COD 4 MODERN WARFARE

Its a good desktop replacement laptop. Not for gaming or multimedia.

so why is it capped in the game at 1440 and locked?

  • June

Call of duty on PC has terrible graphics.

  • fgdfgfdgdf

you were wrong charlie. ghosts looks like dogshit. no colors. Cod 1 looks 100x better!
