Vince Zampella, Co-Founder of Respawn Entertainment, said in an interview with California’s KFI AM60, that Titanfall, their upcoming title, won’t sell as well as Call of Duty.

“It’s a new brand,” Zampella said about Titanfall. “You build up momentum over the years when you put out a new brand. It’s starting over, so it won’t sell as well [as Call of Duty].”

“But for us it’s…kind of a passion project. We love it. It’s something new,” he added. “It’s taking the old paradigm of these shooter games being very grounded and two-dimensional and now adding this verticality to it and making it something that’s a new experience; something that people haven’t seen before.”

Zampella also confirmed in that interview that Titanfall is coming in Spring 2014 to Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC for a retail price of $60.

  • Hfhhhhhl

I wonder what he thinks about Ghosts lol

    • Jonathan Gray

You’d think with Zampella’s statement that he thinks highly of it, but that might not be the case.

    • Knowing that half of his old team is making this game, I’m sure he hopes for the best for them.

  • Crusf

At least he has what’s missing in most game developers: Being a realist.

  • MeisseN

….. of course it won’t. Beat Battlefield 4 on sales first and then consider COD as a competitor, lol

  • Jeff s

It would sell twice as much if it was released on ps4

    • More then twice… Probably 4 times more

      • MeisseN

        • Mr. Thuggins

I’m assuming he thinks the PS4 has quadruple the preorders that the X1 has and that everyone with a PS4 would buy TitanFall. Erroneous!

          • MeisseN

Well… Is it true that PS4 has quadruple the preorders than X1 or is it your example of proving him wrong..? I don’t care too much about consoles and don’t know anything about sales or preorders of both next-gen platforms.

          • Mr. Thuggins

No actual numbers thrown around by Sony or MS, so who knows? Sony has the edge, probably, since it is more widely available and the preferred console outside of the U.S.

          • MeisseN

Well, I don’t really like Sony’s PS3/4. Dunno why tho, maybe I don’t like PS’s exclusive titles (GoW, Uncharted are just not for me while Killzone looks fun). If I’m gonna get a next-gen console I’m gonna pick up Xbox One. Titanfall, MGS, a better COD… I don’t care if the hardware of X1 is worse than PS4 or stuff, in the long run we will have same gaming experience.

          • MGS? Uhm, that is for both consoles and by cod being better you mean you get to waste money on shitty dlc sooner right? lol

          • MeisseN

            You got it!

    • Goge

who knows their with EA, give it about a year and itll most likely be ported over by then

    • If it came out on PS4 aswell, I would gobble it up.

      • Xbox boy

Why, you guys already have so many exclusives, why can’t Xbox have a few???

        • Siftblade of Rivia

It’s not exclusive to XBOX anyways, it’s coming to PC anyways. You do have a few great exclusives. Halo, Dead Rising, etc. Titanfall isn’t exclusive to XBOX, so why shouldn’t it be allowed on Playstation?

          • Andi Merxhani

It is exclusive to Microsoft… It’s only gonna be on XBOX One and Windows 8, not any other OS. Got windows 7? Sorry won’t work. Got a Mac? Sorry it won’t work

          • Siftblade of Rivia

Exclusive means it’s only available to one console (or PC), which it’s not.. It may be limited to Microsoft, but that doesn’t mean people without XBOX can’t buy Titanfall.

          • Jon Cameron

It’s not going to be exclusive to Win8 on PC. Where in the hell did you figure this?

          • Primey_

It is not exclusive to Windows 8.

          • Kabuchi CA

It’s also comming to other consles such as the ps4 in the future.

        • BarneyTeleTubbiesLover

At least this guy does not go fanboy-mentally unstable-berzerk-raging(FMUBR) mode.

        • Mitch

Because Sony studios make those games, while MS has to pay 3rd party studios.

    • Roxas3510

I’ve heard all over the place that it’s a timed exclusive so it’s probably going to come out on PS4 eventually. I’ll play it on PC until that happens.

      • Mr. Thuggins

Incorrect. Limited funds and the promise of dedicated servers led them to go with Microsoft platforms. I’m assuming that their pockets will be sufficiently lined for a true multi-plat release on the sequel.

        • Roxas3510

How is it incorrect when it has neither been confirmed nor denied? I wasn’t stating a fact, just speculation.

          • MeisseN

Clearly he’s denying the rumor, not you.

          • Roxas3510

Again, “How is it incorrect when it has neither been confirmed nor denied?” Unless, of course, Mr. Thuggins is a member of Respawn Entertainment and he would know this information.

          • MeisseN

I think he can be at least 95% sure of this stuff to say “Incorrect” and he states his reasons as well. Hehe

          • Roxas3510

Lol okay I see where this is going. You’re right.

          • Mr. Thuggins

Third paragraph, second sentence. There is never a mention of a paid exclusive, only exclusivity out of necessity. I will admit that the dedicated servers part I mentioned is purely speculation.

          • Roxas3510

“There is never a mention of a paid exclusive” so they didn’t say it was a timed exclusive and they didn’t say it wasn’t a timed exclusive…so what did I say wrong again? Just speculation, as I said before. I speculate that eventually, the game will come to PS4. It’s an opinion, unless they come out and say “Titanfall will never come to PS4”, there’s nothing wrong with me thinking it will eventually.

  • Goge

Might check this out on 360 but im not buying an xbox one anytime soon

  • ccrows

It’s kinda hard to put down money on a game, when their last game (MW2) IMHO was a disaster.

Old IW had MONTHS TO FIX OMA/DC but couldn’t be bothered to do so.

Besides OMA, it took this same team apx 2 weeks to fix the Javelin glitch, and almost an entire month to fix the CP glitch.

^ Let’s not forget about the Fuel Rock Glitch, or the numerous hacked lobbies either.

Anywhoo.. I’m not gonna say that TF will be a complete fail, but after what they did to MW2 they deserve the “wait and see approach” from consumers…

    • This game is completely different from Call of Duty. You comparing this game to the past game they made (MW2) is very silly.

      • ccrows

Of course it’s different. I think you’re missing my point.

My point is that OLD IW’s previous track record of supporting their product (at least IMO) sucks, and Respawn has a lot to prove with supporting their upcoming game…

        • I’m not even getting this game and I know they have nothing to prove.

          • ccrows

IMO they made the most broken COD in the series, and did hardly anything to fix it.

If this team never made MW2 (and only COD4) I would gladly drop money on a preorder and get all my friends to do the same.

However after what happened with MW2, I’m gonna let the dust settle and I’ll rent this from the local Ma and PA store instead…

          • Vordb

Even COD4 had its fair share of glaring balance issues, most of which were not addressed post-release.

          • Andi Merxhani

MW2 might of been the most broken, but it was still the funniest on consoles. I don’t like COD4 on console, only on pc.

          • Seems you forget that the MW2 season happened RIGHT when the old IW team sued Activision.

I suggest you stop dwelling on the past.

          • ccrows

The lawsuit was in the Spring.

They had PLENTY OF TIME to fix things before that…

          • This comment can only come from someone who’s not only ignorant about the support development process but ignorant about the overall ambience at Infinity Ward before the suit actually happened. It wasn’t pretty.

    • Mitch

This. Everyone says Respawn were the geniuses behind MW and MW2, but every time I look at the balance in MW2 I would think a retard made the perks and weapons.

  • Siftblade of Rivia

I don’t know why people keep thinking any game will beat COD. People keep saying BF4 could be the first to beat COD in sales and stuff, but in the end, COD wins. That’s just how it works. It’s like Android vs. Apple. Android is a better, more reliable product IMO, but Apple outsells them. When you think of a smart phone, you think of an iPhone. When you think of FPS videogames, you think of COD. That’s just how it is. I don’t think COD will die anytime soon. If they make a bad game, unlike other companies, it doesn’t stop them, they just make another. COD will exist as long as videogames exist. They make too much money, they won’t randomly give up on their product. It’s like most famous Youtubers. Even if the quality of the video goes down, they know people will still watch them because they’re already big on Youtube. Even if the COD quality goes down (which it’s doing IMO), it doesn’t matter, as millions of people still buy it.

    • Mitch

IMO I can see one game outselling CoD this year: GTA V.

      • Siftblade of Rivia

True, actually. But what happens is GTA V will sell big at first, and COD will keep selling a lot for a good couple of months. That’s how it usually is. What I meant was there is no “COD Killer” that will end the chain of CODs.

      • StraightEdgeAtheist

I doubt it seeing how it will not be on the next gen.

  • But it will be better than cod and also its only for xbox360/one and pc

  • Jose Martin Gonzalez

i’m sorry, but i’d take naughtydog over 343 or the guys that made GoW any day

  • Ed

until they say it’s going to be on the playstation platforms, as well, then he didn’t need to say that. it’s obvious no game will ever have the sales of call of duty not being on all consoles. battlefield is the only real contender right now, and they will be lucky to sell 1/2 what call of duty ends up with.

  • At least game developers can face the truth, unlike the fans of the games 😀

  • tha_online_gamertz

I’m not following the hype of this game, the graphics look cool, but I prefer a game with gameplay that doesn’t get boring. If I have to watch the same cutscene everytime before start a round I would be annoyed pretty quickly

  • Brian Murana

Im more excited for this game than i am for ghosts.

  • TheSupremeOne

Ever since they betrayed PC users and sold their souls to Activision, I stopped paying attention to these scrubs. The only thing I’ll do with whatever they put out is download it from a torrent.
