The developers behind Call of Duty: Strike Team for iOS and Android may no longer exist in the coming months. Activision appears to be re-evaluating the small teams future as whether they will remain a studio, be shut down, or sold off to another company.

Activision’s Bobby Kotick wasn’t happy with opening studios in the UK due to the taxes that they must pay; even with that, they did open and establish The Blast Furnace in 2011. The Blast Furnace released Call of Duty: Strike Team for iOS and Android in September of 2013. The game did hit top charts and was even selected as Apple’s Editor’s Choice app.

“We met with The Blast Furnace this morning and are currently discussing options for their future,” an Activision spokesperson told MCV.

“The Blast Furnace is a very talented studio and has been a great partner to Activision. Our preference would be to keep the talented group of employees at The Blast Furnace together and develop a plan that would enable them to remain as a team.”

As of now, their future doesn’t look so strong. We’ll keep you updated on this situation.

so even Acti has problems and shuts down teams? thats unexpected.

    • 111AlaN111

I don’t think Activision is having problems, at least not with money. All CODs are the best selling games of each year, not an exception this year. I think they have a lot of money to spend. Even if they had shit games that no one liked, COD gives them the money to stay up. The way for Activision to go down is COD going down, and I don’t think it will happen

      • TheShadowReaper

well i wasnt talking about financial problems. i agree that Acti wont have any problems with earning revenue since COD still stands strong. maybe they dont actually know what to do with the team. maybe the COD Strike Team game didnt met their expectations quality wise, who knows. its Acti but i believe even them have a standard they want to meet.

they don’t have problems. They just dont wanna put up with UK taxes. Greedy as it may sound, ATVI is an american company, so those taxes aren’t even going to their own government. Can’t blame them really…

      • TheShadowReaper

well as i have said in my other comment, i didnt said that Acti has financial issues. there tons of reasons to shut down a team including money problem. but i dont believe the issue here is money.

      • ElseAndrew

It doesn’t matter if they’re an American company, if they have a studio in the UK they have to pay UK taxes as that is a UK business.

Laying off a studio doesn’t mean you have (financial) problems. They probably have records of the amount of money every studio and every game makes them, and if they don’t make enough, or even lose money they’re gone.

      • TheShadowReaper

i said problems, not financial problems. why do you people keep twisting my words? is this a fetish or something? lol. anyway…i dont believe the issue is money, probably its the team wanting more power so they can be more creative and Acti not giving them the space. has happened before with a lot of big publishers.

A year or so ago someone at ATVI said that they aren’t interested in making a movie because it would dilute the brand. In my opinion Call of Duty shouldn’t have a mobile game for the same reason (this also applies to the fake-legos that have call of duty branding). If they absolutely must have one then I think it should somehow be linked to the main game.

If anyone that works with Activision can hear me PLZ do not shut them down my cousin works there and he is worried.

    • There are more people than just your cousin.

    • TheShadowReaper

really? so they shouldnt shut it down just for your cousin? i really wanna go and tell Acti to shut down the team right now just for retaliation. the whole team is at stake and they are talented individuals. i hope this wont go the laying off route and people starting losing their jobs cause its not cool. although if firing your cousin would suffice to save the team then Acti should do so. lol.

    • K.E.M

      I pray he get fired

      • Lets not overdo this
