GameSpot is reporting that Sledgehammer Games is developing the Xbox One, PS4, and PC versions of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare while another studio is developing the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the title.

GameSpot is reporting the following:

In a press release this afternoon, Activision formally announced Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and revealed that two studios are working to bring the game to market this November. Sledgehammer Games is working on the Xbox One/PlayStation 4/PC versions, while a separate studio to be named later is handling the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 versions.

We can’t find the press release they are referring to. We’ll update if we hear more..

    This is old news…

    • KevinWoof

No, this has not been confirmed before. It was just rumors back then.

  • AcePhoenix007

High Moon Studios is working on the current-gen versions

    • KillzoneVII

      You mean last-gen 🙂

      • AcePhoenix007

eh, they’re still calling it “current-gen”. In this case, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions.

        • Plato/Tomato

I’m betting there’s gonna be PS360 ports for a couple more years, at least.

          • AcePhoenix007

Yeah, since the amount of people on those two systems is still larger than the amount of people on next-gen systems.

        • KillzoneVII

True, it’ll take a while for everyone to start calling ps4/X1 current gen since the install base is still fairly low compared to ps3/360.

          • They’ve allready started calling PS3/xbox360 last gen on Gamespot and IGN, the newest gen is current and the prevously newest consoles are now last gen 😉

          • KillzoneVII

For sure, I meant it will take a while for the general public to refer to it as last gen, since the general public hasn’t purchased a current gen (ps4/X1) console yet. 🙂

    • Michael

Didnt high moon studios work on current gen for Titanfall?

      • AcePhoenix007

No, Bluepoint Games developed the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall.

  • Sadat Kasaija

Good we need SHGames focused on the new-gen

  • KillzoneVII

Definitely interesting, should mean we get much better effects/graphics, and a more “next-gen” title than ghosts. (Yes I know ps4/X1 are current-gen now)

  • SoulTaker

Good news that they can focus on the big 3. I have hopes for Sledgehammer but when haven’t I had hope for a COD?

  • Dr. Salim

The XBONE is glad to get downgraded graphics

  • MichiganerE

It’s good to see SH getting the full advantage of the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. I just hope players on Xbox 360 and PS3 get a decent game.

    • | Coop X

im getting the ps4 for advanced warfare. but yeah hope last gen gets a decent game.

      • MichiganerE

I’m gonna buy Advanced Warfare, Destiny, and Halo on Xbox One (no shit) on Xbox One.

  • RdJokr

Good, hopefully that means no more shitty ass PC ports.

  • Rai

  • Ryumoau

    Smart idea by Activision. 🙂

  • TheGamerBeast

U have no idea how shitty Ghosts PC version was on launch and after launch with 2 months now it is fine but please SH make the PC version Perfect

    • Sal

A lot of people still got stuttering issues. See by the bright side, at least it’s not as bad as Dark Souls :v

  • Dylan DuGirls

    Call of Duty: Space Warfare

    Preorder now!

I’m so glad, that they actually really focus in next gen. It might already be a “real” NG-game. # NextCoDHype

  • Jacky Liang

After the empty promises of Ghosts from IW on the PC, I’ll believe it when I see it. Skepticism is highly needed with CoD each year now.

    • Unreal

yeah true but for myself I don’t judge the game until I have played it! Sometimes I base some of my opinions of early multiplayer gameplays that are shown on youtube but the best is still to play the game for yourself.

  • The Telephone Pole

The Guy is about to kick another member of ATLAS ( as seen on the helmet) in the picture. So you aren’t going to be working for the bad guys for too long.

    • Chrisdafa

      Nice find

  • Rorke File

Highmoon studio is like when SHJG helped IW with MW3 so maybe the four year cycle is coming too

    • fires

i doubt it, they are only doing port work. Treyarch always did the ports previously for the IW games. Sledgehammer was assisting IW, as mw3 was coming in right after the Respawn guys split ways with IW.

    • MrJDGuns1

They would not put it to a 4 year cycle after only announcing a 3 year cycle earlier this year. They would not have given this cycle a chance. As well as that i think this is what we will see from most developers of games. A separate studio working on the last generation versions.

  • OpEazy

Yup High Moon Studios is developing the xbox 360 and ps3 version

  • Josh

At least from the pictures we can see that we will not be getting grey, boring coloured maps like in Ghosts 🙂

  • EliteRage_YT

This sort of makes me want to buy the PS4 now, but COD: AW is either going to be utterly terrible or surprisingly good, depending on how balanced the multiplayer is, so I spose I’ll see how the PS3 version of this game is…

  • Advanced warfare !!!!! Ps3

Hopefully no shitty killstreaks like in ghosts .

  • TheWolfAssassinq the guys who made fall of cybertron and war for cybertron are rumoured to be making the 360 and ps3 versions so looking at there past the port should be good
    high moon studios

  • Jack Lame

    bf fanboys (pic).

  • Great news! 😀

  • Ben

I hope they will make a great port for PC… Ghosts was pretty much the worst console port ever created.

    • Call of Doody

      hear hear!

  • Jack Meoff

Now your going to get all the little kids begging their mommy and daddy or a xbox1 or ps4

  • Jake

  • Chase

Hoping the 360 and ps3 version turns out like the 360 version of Titanfall…the same exact game in everyway but graphics. Hopefully High Moon Studios makes the same game that Sledgehammer is making…just graphically different
