Sledgehammer Games has posted a brand new developer blog post on their website talking about how they developed the futuristic vehicles for Advanced Warfare. They wanted to make sure the technologies added to the game are relatable and grounded in order for it to make sense for Call of Duty.

We studied the history of the automobile, planes, military equipment and even the creation of roads, bridges and railroads. This was all part of an effort we made to better understand the progression of land and air vehicles over time, and found that it helped us predict where they’re headed to in the future. We even created timelines that showed the progression of instrument panels, and computers. Glen Schofield, Co-Founder and Studio Head of Sledgehammer Games, pushed our artists to constantly question their designs. β€œDesigning future vehicles is harder than you would imagine. Big decisions have to be made first. Do they fly? Do they drive themselves? What are they made of? What type of fuel are they using,” said Schofield. β€œDo we look out a windshield or is everything operated by camera and sensors? You have to look at the past few decades to see what has changed over time.”

Early on in the development process, our team created a design book composed of all the rules, shapes, proportions, and compounds, ensuring every artist in the building was pushing in the right direction. We created hundreds of drawings of trucks, buses, military vehicles, and construction vehicles – breaking them down further into interiors, exteriors, and instrument panels.

Here’s an image of an early drawing of the Razorback VTOL vehicle part of the game:

This is only one of the many flying vehicles in Advanced Warfare.

      Nuff Said?

      • Grenada!

Lets just hope DICE and EA don’t fuck it up, otherwise they’ll get so much hate for fucking up the Star Wars franchise.

  • TheWalkingDon

Make it balanced with great hit detection, cut out the BS that plagues CoD games and most of all, make it fun.

    • MichiganerE

      So don’t be a MW3, BO2, or Ghosts. That shouldn’t be hard.

      • Mr Doge

Actually Ghosts accomplished most of that criteria(Besides I.E.Ds). People asked for good hit detection and they got it now they complain.

        • MichiganerE

          You die too fast.

          • Jay Gautreau

that come with better hit detection! Some people are just dumb xD

          • *You die fast.
That comes with the improved hit detection.

          • MichiganerE

            No, too fast.

          • Grenada!

Hit detection is fine but they just need to add more HP slightly for core. Sometimes I feel like I’m playing on HC because I die so fast, you don’t even get a chance to try and fight back which takes the skill away.

          • MichiganerE

Yep. Besides, I haven’t played it in 6 months because I sold it in January.

      • MW3isbalanced

Seems like people who complain about MW3, hasn’t played it nowadays. It is the most balanced Call of Duty yet IMO. Maybe you should give it a try? At the end Black Ops 2 takes the reward of the most unbalanced Call of Duty of those three.

        • Grenada!

Are you high? What game did you play, cause when I played MW3 is was games full of people using the ACR or MP7, never seen any other guns being used because there was no need when the ACR and MP7 were like freaking laser guns with no recoil.

          • nothigh

Still the same problem, but these weapons are no longer so overpowered as they were years ago. But that isn’t really a big problem compared to Black Ops 2 full of killstreaks, which do all the dirty work for you. πŸ˜€

        • MichiganerE

MW3 was never balanced with the support streaks, deathstreaks, and weapon balance.

  • jordanxbrookes

Can we please have this guy do the voice over for the Sentinel faction. I think the South African accent would sound awesome.

    • Morgan Freeman first. I want him to tell me we are losing the objective. It’d be so much more motivational

      • Rorke File

Agreed, they have see your comment

      • Guzzo

you’re losing the objective and by the way, I am God.”

    • Is that Kruger?

      • jordanxbrookes

        Agent Kruger πŸ™‚

        • Did you get the banner?

          • jordanxbrookes

No I didn’t πŸ™ Could you send it to me again?

    • No, Troy Baker needs to be everything, everyone.

      • NuttyTheSquirrel

Nah. I don’t want Troy Baker in CoD (although he it one line in MW2, he was Joseph Allen, in the mission ‘No Russian’). I want him in other big games. Uncharted, The Last of Us 2 (MAKE IT HAPPEN NAUGHTY DOG <3), and bla bla bla. Mostly Naughty Dog games, because THEY'RE THE BEST DEVS EVER. The attention to detail is fenomenal. Well, I gotta lay my fanboy ass down, I'm gonna have a heart attack because NAUGHTY DOG IS AWESOME AND WHO DISAGREES IS JUST A SILLY BILLY BANANA.

        • Grenada!

ND is by far the best developers at the moment and is Troy Baker doing Mitchell’s voice?

          • NuttyTheSquirrel

I don’t know what character he’s voicing, but HE IS in the game.

    • Crusf

Can we please have Ripley’s exoskeleton suit in the game? The kickass levels would be off the roof!

    • Shukwad

      Where is this image from?

      • jordanxbrookes

        • Shukwad

          Ok, thankyou.

    • Kill Denied

      Exoskeleton looks exactly the same

    • Grenada!

How SHG got the idea of exoskeleton suits, confirmed. Jokes aside, I hated that guy’s voice in that movie so please no.

    • Is that the guy from Eliseum (don’t know how to spell it)? If so, that would be pretty awesome. But that movie was goddamn gory.

      • jordanxbrookes

Yeah he was called Agent Kruger, I just think if we had his South African voice for the Sentinel faction, it’d just be awesome.

    • You’re losing the fookin objective! (District 9 joke)

      • jordanxbrookes

  • All I ask is better spawns and less annoying things. (IED’s, noobtubes, OP stuff, etc. πŸ˜›

    • Mr Doge

Grenade Launchers haven’t been a problem since MW2 so I don’t know why people complain about them.

      • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

        Danger Close in Ghosts.

        • Yeah, but when you use that, there is no more room for other perks that make you capable of delivering good gunfights against enemies.

It is annoying when some d-bag uses it, but I have only encountered it a couple of times.

      • jordanxbrookes

Exactly, in all honesty I wish we could get Black Ops grenade launchers, since they weren’t OP like in MW2 and they weren’t UP like in MW3.

  • CinemaSins

Here is one of the killstreaks I can fucking bet this is going to be a killstreak

    • And what will it do? Drop off AI buddies?

      • maybelikethat

Never heard of Black Ops 2 VTOL Warship? Maybe it will be like that.

        • CinemaSins

I think I would like the Vtol Warship that I can control and not let a AI control it for me

      • Grenada!

God please no more AI killstreaks. Hated them in Ghosts and i’ll always hate them.

      • CinemaSins

Either like the VTOL Warship from BO2 or the Gunship BO1

    • Probably will be like the VTOL-Warship from BO2

      • CinemaSins

I can bet I know Call of Duty Devs too fucking well

  • Wiz

I want a mp map in a prison in advanced warfare. Think about it, it’d be so awesome!

    • jooker-jr

How about Kevin spacey’s office ?

  • DannyT

AW has serious framerate issues on the Xbox One. Wonder how it will fare on the more powerful systems such as PS4 and PC?

    • xHUDson

Probably no better in all honesty. It’s not 60fps locked which is tragic. The multiplayer is going to suffer as usual if the game dips south of 35 as we’ve seen. Absolute disaster for Sledgehammer and this so called ‘next gen’ game.

    • makeitwork

I really hope that this framerate issue is going to be fixed before release. Performance has always been good in Call of Duty games (60 fps). Now it seems like that they have lots of work to do.

    • Grenada!

So now they can’t brag about the 60fps thing? It doesn’t go below 30 so that’s good enough for me and I’m sure this is the beta or alpha version of the game so they should be able to get the issues sorted for release…….I hope.

    • Grenada!

I can safely bet anything on the fact that multiplayer will look nowhere near as good as this! MP has to have a locked 60fps, so the downgrade will be substantial. Graphics will have a huge downgrade on MP which is sad.

    • Mr.Mango

Their not done making the game

    • Duke of hazard

That was because of the youtube video. Watch the real video here and notice the difference.

  • Thesilentassassin

I read that Sledgehammer have no choice but to downgrade the graphics in Multiplayer so they can maintain a decent FPS count. It’s a big sacrifice particularly seeing this is supposed to be next gen. I’d take performance over visuals any day of the week but I can’t help but feel this so called ‘next gen’ is already completely dated. We could be lumbered with Ghosts MKII. Terrible news.

    • jooker-jr

That’s happens in every game. But the downgrade in the other games ( let’s say Battlefield 4 for example ) is not huge so don’t worry

  • oL0RDo

  • LovekillerX

It seems like in Call of Duty Wiki there is a new level confirmed called “Aftermath” which is located in Detroit. Also there is mentioned that there is another enemy called “Sentinel” which we saw in multiplayer stats revealed some time ago. Just briefing those who don’t know this information yet. πŸ™‚

    • kyr95

So Sentinel is an enemy faction! Very interesting indeed! πŸ˜€
Can you tell me where you found all this info? πŸ™‚

      • there

Call of Duty wiki, if you look there.

      • somevehicles

Oh and it seems like there is going to be two kind of VOTL Warships (normal VTOL and then Razorback VTOL as seen in the picture) and two kind of tanks (spider tank and hovertank). πŸ™‚

      • CinemaSins

I’m going to leak another one of the team for multiplayer its called Bumblebee

    • cool

The setting seems to be 2052. It might be some “look back mission”, because the game itself is set in the year 2054. πŸ˜‰

      • kyr95

No, i think the wiki has got it wrong, SHG said that it will spawn 10 years of Mitchells life starting in 2054 with no flashbacks. The Detroit mission seems to be one of the last, since Gideon has grown a beard.

        • coolvisuals

Now that you said it, you are right. Well we are still getting cool missions like always. Bio Lab mission which we got to see little bit in the video, looked cool, specially visuals. Let’s just hope that visuals doesn’t make them drop frame rates… πŸ™‚

          • kyr95

To tell you the truth i could care less about both visuals and fps, SHG is trying something new and thats good to me πŸ™‚ also, each mission seems to last 20-30 minutes, yes!

          • true

Long missions are always welcome. If we get about 20 missions, the campaign will last about 8 hours. That would be awesome. Call of Duty campaigns have always been fantastic and specially Ghosts campaign impressed me. πŸ˜€

          • kyr95

Man, some cant wait for the mp reveal in august. I cant wait for the next singleplayer trailer!!

          • SPtrailerplease

Should we get singleplayer story trailer some time in this month or soon? Atleast we got one from Ghosts.

And then finally… that MP reveal! Now I would like to have time machine. πŸ˜€

          • kyr95

It depends Ghosts’s 2nd single player trailer came in september whereas most of the previous ones were released in July…oh wait. >:D

          • ItisJuly

What month is it now…? πŸ˜‰

          • kyr95
