IGN has reported that former Infinity Ward developers, some developers that have actually left Infinity Ward a few months ago, have created a new studio together called Reload Studios.

The team consists of four Infinity Ward developers: James Chung, who worked on previous Call of Duty games; Taehoon Oh, who has worked on 6 different Call of Duty titles; Pete Blumel, who worked on Modern Warfare series and Ghosts; Hougant Chen, who worked on various Call of Duty titles.

Reload Studios’s official website has gone live alongside a press release announcing the news:

Los Angeles, CA (July 14, 2014) — Reload Studios, a video game development studio led by veterans of the best-selling and critically acclaimed “Call of Duty” franchise, announced its formation today.  Led by co-founders James Chung and Taehoon Oh, Reload intends to produce immersive interactive experiences for the emerging virtual reality and mobile markets, as well as traditional consoles.

“When I first saw what the latest round of VR devices could do, I realized these were not just peripherals but brand new platforms that could transform the way we experience, interact with and create media,” said Chung. “It was the perfect time to follow my passion and bring together the most talented people I know under one roof to form a development culture that promotes creativity and collaboration.”

“People are always looking for something new,” added Oh. “Just as smartphones changed the way we live our lives, I am sure VR will change the way people experience media content.  As a game developer, this realization compelled me to become part of a new team that focuses on developing VR content.”

Key staffers at Reload come from Infinity Ward, the studio that created “Call of Duty” and “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare,” as well as Heavy Iron, responsible for a number of Pixar games and industry leader Electronic Arts.

The team at Reload, which currently consists of 12 people, are already at work on a first-person shooter title for VR and mobile devices and next-gen consoles.  Reload intends to release its first game in 2015.

The studio expects to release it’s first person shooter title sometime in 2015 for mobile, virtual reality, and next-gen consoles.

  • So they might develop a FPS designed for VR?
    Sounds awesome!

  • Plato/Tomato

Not really a VR fan, but best of luck to them! 😀

    • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

      “Traditional consoles as well”.

      • Plato/Tomato

I only read the headlines before I comment <3

  • Rob Schneider

These company names are just general fps terminology
    First Respawn, now Reload
What’s next? Aim Down Sights Studios? Get Behind Cover Entertainment?

    • GekkeHenkie

Saw the same joke on N4G, 6 hours ago.

      • Lol busted

        • Seven

Guys if u really dont like his post then dislike it. Lol

        • Rob Schneider

For what? I didn’t steal or copy a joke
Hell I know im not the only one who had the same idea
I don’t even know what N4G is but there isn’t a way for me to prove that so fuck it oh well lol

          • Mario Rivera

            U got caught dude…

          • ben wills

You’re an idiot. I came up with that hours ago and I didn’t post it. It’s funny, sorry you don’t have an IQ above 75 to understand or come up with it yourself.

          • PSN – iiAtex

Lol, nobody gives a shit who came up with it…

          • ben wills

My god you’re dumb. If you actually read the conversation at had you might of actually gotten what my point was.

          • James

Not as dumb as putting “actually” twice in the same sentence.

          • ben wills

Wow, you go around on the internet checking everyone’s spelling so that you can feel slightly better about your poor excuse of a life. You are just a sad individual. Get a hobby. Stop being such a waste of space. With your one comment you have managed to make yourself look like a stupid, horrible and generally unpleasant individual. Good job.

          • Ed

that’s actually the first thing that popped into my mind, too, so i don’t think it’s really him stealing a joke so much as having the same idea as someone else.

          • Rob Schneider

Thanks for the support lol as I said to someone else
I don’t consider myself original, just lucky with the timing lol

        • jordanxbrookes

Busted because someone else said the same joke on a different website? I wouldn’t think so if lots of people are using it.

          • Rob Schneider

            Thanks man
            I don’t consider myself original
Just that I happened to read this article almost as soon as it was posted

          • jordanxbrookes

Well it’s not like you’re saying you came up with the joke, plus what’s N4G? I mean I’ve heard of G4 and N64 but never N4G.

      • Rob Schneider

        Teh fuck is N4G?
And tbf a lot of people have made the same point/joke lol
But eh I didn’t copy or steal it from anywhere else

      • NuttyTheSquirrel

        Similar one on MP1st.

    • TheShadowReaper

with he exception that a “respawn” is something that happens in many types of games. First Person Shooters are just a small sub-genre of the all the gaming genres that a “respawn” happens.

but yeah, the FPS gaming terminology is the future for some reason. they literally do not give some effort or soul on their names anymore.

      • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Actually, it’s more like “Hey, we just got hit in the line of fire at Infinity Ward, but now we’re coming back” (it applies to both). And YES! MORE TALENT IS LEAVING IW!

        • TheShadowReaper

lol, i guess we should be happy someone leaves IW? why not let them stay there and produce their shitty games under that name instead of spreading it further?

but oh well i dont care as long as they produce a FPS game. that gets me pumped up.

          • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Because they won’t have Activision telling them what to do. They won’t have Activision forcing them to make camos.

          • Okay now, now do a camo that’s like… like a dolphin vomiting at a Sat Com. Y-Yes! That’s right! Hah, masterpiece!
I’ve already got an idea for the next camo pack… ” Dolphins in space! ” I’m genius!

      • NuttyTheSquirrel

Well, it’s in many games aswell… Advanced Warfare is a ridiculous name. They’re making soo many awesome stuff and they couldn’t find a better name xD… Modern Warfare isn’t that great either…
Black Ops is nice, Ghosts is meh, again…

Sly: Thieves in Time – I’m a HUGE fan of the Sly Cooper franchise, but c’mon…

Infinity Ward and Treyzrch are nice studio names, but Sledgehammer… Meh. Raven is also a really nice name.

Respawn and Reload is kinda stupid but well, what can we do…

        • TheShadowReaper

Sledgehammer is an awesome name! ok, its just a word but its still good. IW and 3arc are unique as names.

Modern Warfare was really relevant to COD as a franchise when it came out on 2007. it was the big leap from WWII to modern era military. while its not anything amazing as a name its still justifiable.

i wasnt expecting Advanced Warfare, it still is kinda meh. i wonder if i’ll ever grow accustomed to it.

edit: i despise anything that has “raven” in it or its name is “raven”. its such a cliche word to describe noir/gritty style that everyone uses it. it certainly has lost its charm a long time ago.

    • Dr. Salim

      Get REKT Studios.

    • Pathetic.

Probably Rob Schneider Is Pathetic Studios

Lock and Load Enterprises? Stay Frosty Games? Quit Camping You Son of a Bitch Studios?

In all seriousness, I love how they’re both called “Respawn” and “Reload”, because they’re ex-developers of the same Juggernaut-of-a-series. I can’t wait to see what Reload makes. PLEASE DON’T MAKE IT XBOX EXCLUSIVE 🙁

      • Games20

You’re a hacker studios could be another name

      • RΛJΞΣV

“Quit Camping You Son of a Bitch Studios” LOL good one, how about Quickscoping Faggot Industries lol

        Just pointing it out lol

    • MichiganerE

      Maybe XXX360n0sc0p3XXX Studios?

    • Turnip down for what

      Cut the dude some slack.
I have to admit that even I instantly thought of that joke after reading this article. and I dont even go on N4G

  • I’m glad to see the game will also be on the PS4 and Xbox One (unless it’s an exclusive). Because I am not a fan of VR, yet. Maybe this game will be good enough to pursuade me.

  • Pathetic.

Wow people are complaining about the studio names now? How pathetic.

    • jooker-jr

      We’re joking.

    • Aymen Skiken

you’re patetic cuz you’re complaining about jokes -_-‘

  • jordanxbrookes

“Ex-Call of Duty devs have formed a brand new studio called ‘Camp Industries’, next-gen FPS game set to be out in 2016” Watch it will happen.

    • Trippy Leatherface

    • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Stop Camping You Son of a Bitch Studios, coming to a retailer near you.

  • gumbie7

My guess is VR will go over about as well as 3D TV’s and 3D games did. “Hey let’s go put this HUGE stupid looking box on my face so I can play a game!” Yeah, not for me. I guess if that is your thing then more power to you. I’ll stick to my regular HD TV. I will be more likely to purchase a 4K TV than a VR device. Just my opinion.

    • jooker-jr

I thought about and said : 4K will become the new standard in the next couple of years. Why would I use the VR headsets over a 4K display ?

      • gumbie7

My thoughts exactly! 4K looks amazing!

        • jooker-jr

Too bad that ps4 and xbox one owner will not play games at native 4K 🙁

          • gumbie7

I can see them being able to do an update, to the ps4 at least, to give it that capability.

          • Will not happen :/

          • Turnip Down For What

            See that’s the thing
PS4 has 4K compatibility, but not for games. Only for movies.and videos.

          • UpRiftCOD

Even if you could, you would have to buy a tv that could support that resalution and im guessing they’re not cheap.

          • MichiganerE

4K TVs cost around $2000-$4000. So yeah, very expensive.

        • the future

DPI density is getting so good that it will create a perfect image in front of your eyes that appears much bigger and sharper than any 4k TV you could afford any time soon.

Try the rift, and even Google cardboard and laugh off vr as the next 3d.

VR is coming and it will be huge!

        • TheShadowReaper

if only a high+ end PC could take 4k resolutions without dropping bellow 30 frames it would be amazing. now imagine consoles that are always outdated when it comes to hardware. 4k is decades away from becoming the standard on consoles. and i guess around a decade for PC.

      • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

        4k = too expensive currently.

  • Wraith

Well, both Respawn and Reload imply a do-over, which I.m guessing is their main reason for naming such.

  • So first we get ” Respawn, ” and now we get ” Reload. ”
    What’s next?
    ” Dropshot Studios? ”

    • jooker-jr

      Trickshot studios.

    • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

  • MEH

Oh Great just what we need another studio with former IW employees, the glory days of MW are over, Ghosts killed them

  • Sentinel

A FPS game with a VR headset! It would be a different media experience for sure. I’m very interested to see what they come out with

    Check this video out:

Lol you all left cuse your fucking stupid. .you make a fucking shit game.and then your like …”you know call of duty is not the best place for us”…y didn’t your fuckers leave before ghosts .u shit I’m not buying your shit game faggots….man fuck!!!!!!!!!

  • Ech!

    Here we go again…

  • Turnip Down 4 what

I understand why they left, and that was to be free from Activision’s super-rushed,Undelayable time frames for games. So It makes sense. I hope they can successfully follow their dreams. But If anything, I wish they worked as like a separate VR division for COD games in general. Just to add VR to COD games, and the only job these guys would have were to work on the games and basically make something that the studio of *insert Cod Name Here* developed to look beutiful for an average gamer on a TV, to something that is absolutly fucking amazing for someone using Project Morpheus on PS4 or Oculus Rift on PC. (Sorry Xbone fans, or Wii U fans… if there even are any WiiU fans lool) Basically I was hoping that they should have a part in VR development in every COD game and eventually keep improving the VR tech in the games that follow *Insert Cod Name Here* .

A kid can dream, Right :/

  • BazzookaMan

    720doubleswapsilentshot studios

  • I vote SHGames as developers of the year.

  • George

How many fucking people are going to leave IW and make their own studio???

  • CinemaSins

Wait if these guys are working on a possible CoD that means we dont see Treyarch till 2016

    • RΛJΞΣV

Impersonating a famous person cliche. *ding*
