The Advanced Warfare Xbox One controller will be releasing in early October according to numerous retailers.

Amazon and Microsoft Store have the controller listed for an October 6th release date, while GameStop has it set to release on October 7th. Outside of US, GAME UK has listed the controller to be available on October 28th. The controller is listed as RSP of $69.99, but some retailers are selling it for $64.99.

The controller will also include a code to unlock a supply drop for Advanced Warfare, when the game launches in November.

Prevail with the Xbox One Limited Edition Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Wireless Controller. Featuring a custom design inspired by Sentinel Task Force iconography, it looks like an artifact from the powerful battlegrounds of the future. Be prepared for combat as soon as you boot up with a bonus Supply Drop, which can unlock a variety of in-game content from player customization gear to weapons.

Its getting to be PRETTY close to pay to win……….

    • Primey_

    • I don’t see why it’s getting PRETTY close to pay to win

    • HenryDF

I’m not too keen on the entire Supply Drop concept overall, and monetizing it will make them even worse in my eyes.

I just dislike the randomness of it. I could do something easy and get a Supply Drop, and then receive one of those super-rare weapons. And then, a match later, I could do something really hard, get a Supply Drop, and then get something crap.

      • curi0us

It’s no different in any other game that has this kind of mechanic. You are practically gambling. Sometimes you will score it big, sometimes you will not. It’s just something you will have to accept.

And how is it different in an RPG, like Earthbound for example, where you are farming for the Sword of Kings? Or farming Metal Slimes in Dragon Quest?

        The list goes on.

Between you and me though, I’m a sucker for loot drops.

      • Jasy

I agree. I like and understand the concept, but I think that it will give a slight micro advantage. If Keshav is correct in that it might give a slight range advantage, then that little boost may be the difference of you killing the enemy or the enemy killing you with how the time to kill is. (Don’t go all ape shit on me because I have not had the chance to read the article yet.)

      • Autocorrect

Maybe they were just having random ones so the gamescom players could have the total package in the little time they played…………?

    • Grenada!

CoD better not go pay to win, otherwise I’m outta’ here. The reason I love online shooters is because you have to unlock things by going through the ranks. If they take that away it takes away the fun and the fairness.

      • 111AlaN111

I don’t think supply drops will make you win, at least not from what we now right now, wich is that they give you weapons that are available for all and gear wich only makes you look different.

    • Keshav Bhat

I don’t understand why there’s so many comments about to pay to win all of a sudden? Supply Drops aren’t gonna let you get an upper hand at all. They give you the same weapon, with maybe a little tweaked specs with new camos. It’s not a whole new gun, it’s a gun with maybe more range + new camo, or you’ll get a new character gear; nothing “game winning” change. 🙂

      • I guess some people don’t know how to read the article/post correctly

      • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

It gives you a weapon with better stats (and drawbacks to keep it balanced). It’s slightly p2w.

    • do u think that you will be able to buy supply drops

  • I’ve seen that supply drops aren’t rare at all… Unless it was just for the Gamescom players so they could take a taste of it.

    • RdJokr

If I’m right, supply drops “drop” for you upon completing tasks and challenges. It’s basically the same as Ghosts’ field orders, except you don’t get killstreaks. You get guns, and camos, and skins.

      • otiscleetus

they dont “drop” in game. you get the afterward the match is over. just like when you level up and unlock a new perk or gun…this is the same way.

        • RdJokr

No, they do “drop” in-game. You get a notification that you got a supply drop, but you don’t open them until the match ends.

          • otiscleetus

            the ‘notification’ drops in game

          • thats what he meant haha. That you cant open them until the game is over

      • you get supply frops for play time and completing challenges. The old fashioned COD challenges for the page titled challenges. Then you open them up at the end. Im happy for no field orders. It made the section of the map it was on a death trap. It was so shiny though! I just wanted to grab it!

    • the supply drop WERE infact boosted in frequency so people could get the excitement of opening more. Since one of the ways to get them is by play time, Im guessing you get one every 20-30 maybe even 45 minutes on in game playtime. Seems pretty decent since challenges fly by at the game’s start because so many come naturally.

  • Sledgehammer games said they will NEVER monetize supply drops. Lets come back to this comment in 2015…

    • curi0us

You’re paying for the controller, not the supply drop. The supply drop is just a bonus.

      • I think you misunderstood me here. I’m not talking about this particular deal. What I mean is, that we have to see what happens in the future with possible micro transaction dlcs. 😛

        • curi0us

It will most likely happen. But I’m not worried. There’s more than enough cosmetics in the base game.

        • 111AlaN111

If it’s microtransactions for customization I’m ok.

If the microtransactions give you more powerful stuff, then it’shitty.

    • RdJokr

That’s what Sledgehammer says. But doesn’t mean Activision can’t take over.
And supply drops are randomized. It’s not a case of “special Gold/Diamond supply drop, guaranteed to give you the most OP gun in the game”.

  • curi0us

Not surprised comments have revolved around Pay2Win, all because it comes with a supply drop.

You are paying for the controller, NOT the supply drop. The supply drop is simply a bonus.

Think of it like this. A brand new copy of MW2 comes with the first DLC maps for free.

    • Autocorrect

Explain the hundreds of thousands of Americans that are gonna load up on Doritos and mountain dew just for the supply drops and not the product.-_- Paaahy Toooo Wiiihn

      • curi0us

There’s only four pieces of exclusive gear from supply drops. The rest are simply supply drops, or double XP.

        There’s two possible outcomes.

        1) You get a code, put in the code, and you’re randomly given something. It could be one of the pieces of gear, double XP, or a supply drop.

        2) Same as #1, only instead of it being random, you get to pick and choose.

Even if players get a lot of supply drops, the only in-game benefit is they will either offer a free carepackage (reinforcement), a weapon, or clothing to customize your look.

        THAT IS ALL.

I would hardly call that pay to win. I will admit, it gives players a few more options early on, but the randomness of supply drops means you are practically gambling. Any smart player will simply keep their supplydrops and open them when they have a weapon they like using and simply want an alternative to try and use.

      • but you can also get the same things by PLAY to win

        • Autocorrect

          Not 2xp

          • getting double XP for a day aint gonna do much. And if yo have any skills you can beat people at rank one no matter how ranked up they are. Rank means nothing.

          • Autocorrect

I didn’t say anything about using 2xp or how to use it, I just said you can’t get 2xp by playing. Dumbass

          • Yeah but you are using it in a talk about pay to win. And also I dont see where calling me a dumbass was necessary. People on the internet get so defensive for no reason at all

          • did not mean to say yo

    • Keshav Bhat

actually you can think of it like that because you can get Black Ops 2 and Ghosts with the first DLC for free on Amazon now

  • You guys call it pay2win?Thats fine with me if i have the money i should win thats how the world works!!

    • curi0us

Trying a bit too hard, bud.

      • Everyone complains so its time the ELITE does to bud.

    • Ryumoau

      lol great point.

    • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

Terrible logic. You shouldn’t have to have an advantage just because you paid for something. I feel the same way about headsets.

      • Siftblade of Rivia

I don’t think a supply drop is honestly that much of a pay to win feature. It’s random. If you got some OP weapon variant for buying this, then it’s pay2win. But just getting a random drop could easily give you something useless.

        • Brady the Defiled (sillibk)

It’s a gamble. One person could get a really bad item, the other could get a really good item. That’s not really balanced.

          • Siftblade of Rivia

The whole system itself isn’t balanced and I’m not a big fan of the supply drops, but it’s still not really pay to win.

    • exeterman2

Strangely enough video games are not the real world. Your argument is invalid.

      • justchill1234

you should earn it in the gaming world, not the real world.

The Orbital VSAT is back, but not as a scorestreak, but as a scorestreak module to the UAV.

    • It will take years to get it in game i bet

    • There is a module called: ‘orbital’, but I don’t think it gives the UAV the same effect as BO2’s VSAT.

    • Autocorrect

Anyone that payed attention at the reveal conference would already know that……….-_-

      • jordanxbrookes

I’m letting people know in case they didn’t know.

        • Ryumoau

          i didn’t know, so thanks. 🙂

          • jordanxbrookes

            Anytime 🙂

    • Dr. Salim

That is a terrible, people would just spam the uav then.

    • Siftblade of Rivia

Kind of bad news. You could also make the UAV have a support module, meaning you keep it going after death. This is basically turning the VSAT into the support streak. I don’t really like that.

      • curi0us

Not everyone is good at this game. Some people are just not good at this game, but want to be supportive to help others win. I’m the same way. I never run assault package at all because I tend just get killed too often or too quickly to make it useful.

        • Siftblade of Rivia

Yeah, but VSAT is an OP support streak.

          • curi0us

So was Stealth Bomber. So is a Sentry Gun when put in the right place. So are Ballistic Vests. So is an AC-130.

          • whoa

Ac-130 was never a support streak so it took time to get it one (no deaths at all). Stealth bomber was a horrible support module. Ballastic vest aren’t op they only give you a little more health. Sentry guns are easy to sneak up on (emp grenade, smoke screen, perks) just because you suck at the game shouldn’t mean you get to earn op scorestreaks easier. Get better simple as that.

          • curi0us

My point was to say certain streaks can be pretty OP.

Stealth Bomber was horrible? Then why did people complain about it?

Ballistic Vests were a giant “fuck you” to Snipers and Shotgun rushers.

And getting better is an uphill battle for a lot of people. Some people can try all they want and barely get any better. Like me.

I suck at the game, but I still want to do well and help my team win. Funny thing is, I did pretty damn good in BLOPs2 with the MK48 with Target Finder, which was basically a camping gun.

I really hate the “git gud” mentality.

      • justchill1234

you know whats worse, having care package with support with reroll……..

      • Mario Rivera

It does take a lot of points to get it via support and its not a support vsat, its a support uav.

        • Siftblade of Rivia

A support UAV that you can turn into a VSAT. If they do this, I’m sure there’d be a VSAT in almost every lobby I play.

          • Shardlotte

Yes, but from what I saw, turning a streak into a support streak adds a lot of points. I’m pretty certain the Support UAV adds 800. Add that on top of whatever the VSAT upgrade costs and you’ll have an overpriced scorestreak that many probably wouldn’t run.

          • Siftblade of Rivia

Support costs a mere 300 for the UAV, meaning that a support UAV is just 800 points. The attachment to turn it into a VSAT will most likely be 500-1000 points. Even at a 1000 point addition, that means (1800 points) 18 kills in a game would get you a VSAT, and that’s just counting kills, not score from gamemodes, assists, etc. The average COD player gets 20-30 kills a game. So yeah, I’d expect at least 1 VSAT a game.

          • Daniel M

“The average COD player gets 20-30 kills a game.” lol…. big assumption right there >.>

          • Siftblade of Rivia

If you’ve every played in a COD lobby, and I have many, many, many times, you would know that about 6 of the 12 people in the lobby get between 20 and 30 kills. Go play in any lobby and look at the leaderboards at the end of the game. Keyword, average. So not an assumption, it’s an educated estimate.

          • whoa

Depends on what mode. If it’s domination, hardpoint, etc i agree.

          • Suu

“Pretty sure you have to pick one or the other.”

          • Siftblade of Rivia

            I hope so.

  • Ryumoau

I hate how overpriced controllers are, even on the last gen consoles (ps3, 360). Anything over $30 sounds like too much, imo. 🙁

    • curi0us

If you look at the XB1 controller and this one, they both look somewhat different. Guess player feedback has been heard and they’re sneaking this out so people can try it before releasing it without the AW skin.

      • Ryumoau

so this isn’t the same controller? Then i guess that makes the price alittle more understandable.

        • curi0us

I’m looking at HQ pictures of both this controller, and the standard XB1 controller. Both look very similar, but there are differences.

I imagine someone who’s held onto an XB1 controller for a period of time will certainly tell a difference, either just by looking, or by physically holding it.

I would take my observations as a grain of salt though.

I wonder if I’ll get a supply drop code since I’m getting the AW XB1 in November. Probably not.

  • Dylan DuGirls

Anyone else order the console? Pretty excited

    • I was going to today but dont think I have time. I will eventually though
