The leaks seem to be continuing this morning…user ‘anfuny29’ has shown off the MP Settings, which reveal an option to enable/disable “Paintball Effects.”

According to the user, this allows for you to enable an effect to shoot yellow paintballs at the enemies. The paintballs have the same damage as the bullets, but this just enables a UI effect that alters how they look on your screen. This option may be limited to private match only, but we’re not too sure as of right now.

UPDATE: We’ve been asked to take the images down.

    Sounds like fun

  • J4MES
    • Common Sense

This is the first thing I thought of haha. Man now all we need is Big Head mode πŸ˜›

    • Josh

Someone getting shot with paintball option!

  • kplem

    pretty stupid IMO

  • I hope it’s Private Match only. Imo it’s bullshit to have such a thing like this in regular online matches.

    • TomTomTomTomTomTomTom

if you turn it on, all the bullets are yellow only on your screen. The other players see nothing of it.

      • Good to know, thanks for the heads-up πŸ™‚

    • DopeAap

Someone doesn’t like fun over realism

      • Indeed xD
Not that COD should be viewed as a realistic game, it’s from far, but paintball is a bit much imo

        • jooker-jr

But in maps like rush from bo2, this will fit perfectly.

      • Puppet Master

Realism is fun to some people.

    • Brandalf

It’s only going to be an applied graphical effect client-side if enabled.

  • Josh

Why was I not given credit @Josh_MGB??

    • Talk to tmartn hes been stealing shit off charlieintel for years never sourced them ever

  • TheGamerBeast

yes saw that at the stream, and i wondered WTF was the green thing coming out of enemies

  • TeDDy BiΓ¨re

It’s like cheatcode in coop campaign in world at war ! πŸ˜€

  • Michael

If only bo2 added this effect to their dlc map Rush. Then that would have made a lot more sense. But this is still cool and I love the dea.

    • ccrows

Yeah TBH none of this makes any sense for AW.

IMO it’s like SH is throwing “EVERYTHING at the wall and hoping it sticks”.

Dat GAMEPLAY (at least for classic mode) better be good with this game…

      • jordanxbrookes

Screw the Classic Playlist. This game was built for exo-suits.

      • Michael

I think it will work out. I think they put this in the game so you can tell where your bullets (or paintballs) land on your enemy. Or they did this for shits and giggles πŸ˜€

  • IceKoldKilla

No one seems to mention what it can be used for (probably why it was added). To track your shots. To practice basically. If you wanna see where you shoot clearly and want to improve upon it, you’ll have yellow paint to mark it. Seems nice especially to get better at headshots.

    • jooker-jr

That’s cool but since cod has a low recoil weapons it should be easy even without it.

      • mountkarma

yeah I mean COD isn’t really the hardest game to get kills at. If your target audience are casual gamers your probably not going to make it very hard to be good at the game.

  • AcePhoenix007

  • MichiganerE

Oh, fuck yes… Takes me back to the WaW days…

  • LovekillerX

I haven’t heard from this? So basicly, when you shoot someone it paints those hit points with yellow? Is that correct?

    • ArmpitSalad

  • Caleb

I doubt it’ll be online MP. I agree that it’s there to practice your shots in private match and the firing range

  • Primey_

It’s puzzling why they thought this would be something someone would want

  • Idk how I feel about this, don’t want to complain because I haven’t played the game but if you turn it on you can easily pin point where the enemy is because you see paint appearing on the wall next to you.

    • isoogood

if the enemy has it on u cant see it…

      • What I mean, is that you would have the option on, and you see paint on your wall and quickly you recognise where the bullets came from, turn and kill the enemy. That’s what the streamer did a few times

        • Tricky VIk

“I see where you’re getting at, people will turn it on to pinpoint where they’re getting shot from or something, right?..”
          “Like some sort of exploit.”

          • Exactly.

          • Well most of the times such a thing happens, I react to the sound from where it is coming. Also danger indicators also point the place where the damage came from, but that only after getting shot yourself.

But I get what you’re saying.

  • Also you can use the paintball mode on multiplayer. But it’s client-side only (Only you can see it, not the people your shooting at) I guess it’s a way to make it more kid-friendly

  • CookieChairman

    HA! This is awesome.

Will everyone in an online match be able to see it? If so, they should have the option to choose your colour to tell your shots appart from everyone else’s.

  • Juses

I was the one who noticed that. πŸ™

    • James Veach

no you werent i posted about it way before you did like a solid 40 minutes before you. Im also the one who first posted the link to his ustream.

    • Tricky VIk

      “I believe ya buddy.”

  • 111AlaN111

    Hope there are more colors

  • NextGenNose

inb4 red (blood) Paintball DLC or something

  • Jt

Does anyone think they are trying to appeal to a larger audience or at least pursued some parents to allow there children to buy the game? Like how you could turn off blood in black ops? Might be a good marketing strategy

    • Just about to say the same thing u fucking genious that is the exact reason mum see blood shes like im not buying this timmy says its ok ill put paintball mode on WABAAAAAAMO timmys got cod and out of mums hair exactly the same reason mortal kombat (in the ps2 version I played) had a gore level

  • FazalGaming

Just like the good old World At War days. πŸ™‚

  • Ryan

This could help N00B’s out a lot by showing where there shooting and doesn’t it basically enlarge the bullet size when it skims a player

  • Jake Pipkin

I tried to find the option for paintball mode and I have an Xbox 360 and no online profile so I don’t know if it will still work. If so where can I find it
