As Vahn teased in an image earlier this week, Black Ops 3 player customization will offer players to pick taunts and gestures for specialists.

In today’s BO3Fridays live stream, Vonderhaar shared some more details about this new feature:

  • They have “really interesting” long term plans for taunts and gestures
  • Part of customization, you can decide how your player reacts…true taunt thing or even “Good Game” type stuff
  • If you are in winner spot, like #1 player on winning team, you can actually activate your chosen taunt selected
  • The guy who is #1 player on winning team – their specialist gets a special taunt..extension of personality. Custom line and custom taunt. Once done with taunt, specialist can do gesture.
  • More of a social feature for players

Why do you guys even care anymore. Its been what 5 games since they started monetizing everything? That’s just how things work otherwise whats the point of having money? Just get over it. If you don’t like it don’t get it you’re not going to miss out on anything.

      • Tri-Edge

        Keep defending casual.

  • Drasadex

    Teabag taunt. 🙂

  • Aceshigh87

They are definitely going to monetize the crap out of this with microDLC. It’ll be like the stupid Snoop Dog pack in Ghosts but everyone in the lobby will have to deal with it.

Oh well, more reason to push for first so I don’t have to hear the annoying ones I guess.

    • PuddingAuxRais1ns

I don’t see this as a bad thing at all. It’s better than what AW is doing, and I’ll gladly pay for a new taunt/gesture if it looks cool/funny.

      • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

        So you’re condoning DLC?

        • PuddingAuxRais1ns

For the most part, yea. I don’t see any issue with this type of DLC, since it’s completely optional and doesn’t impact gameplay in any negative way. With game development becoming more expensive, devs need to find other ways to make money, as a $60 upfront charge simply isn’t enough anymore to recoup costs, in addition to the fact that Activision is a BUSINESS.

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

You can have that opinion, but I disagree.

I’ve seen the same cliche response. “It’s optional.” “It’s a business.” What have you. They don’t justify nor excuse anything, and they completely dodge my point. The conception of DLC used to be a way that a developer/publisher could put post-launch content in a game to ‘expand’ on their ideas, but it was a completely difference practice in comparison. Back then, they were called Expansion Packs (although Expansion Packs are different). Then Microsoft (And I heard Rockstar) came in and created the concept of DLC we all know today. Generally speaking, DLC mainly exists because budgets for gaming is getting bigger and bigger, but in my opinion, $60 for games still isn’t really justified, despite said bigger budgets. Then we have the concept of on-disc DLC, in which publishers put finished content under a paywall. Activision has been accused of doing this, but I can neither confirm nor deny that they do. You make a good point about cost; all AAA games share the $60 price, and all have different budgets compared to each other, which is arguably why DLC exists, and I agree; however, I still don’t think that that justifies their existence. I couldn’t care less how much a game costs. It is only justified, in my opinion, through its content. In my honest opinion, Black Ops 3 offers the best value in CoD history, because it’s a bigger game. I wonder what its budget difference is, in comparison to all of the other games?

I think it’s unjust, inexcusable, and should not exist. The fact that it’s optional is redundant, because people still buy it, and condone it. Like it or not, we are under the minority. Things need to be changed.

          • jordanxxxbrookes

Ok great points. After I go help Susan B Kommen, Toys for Tots and help union workers fight Walmart I’ll be sure to join your very important fight against Micro DLC and Microsoft or whatever other successful non SCE company.

Move the fuck on. This article is about taunts and gestures which although cheesy sounds sort of cool. Yet here you go preaching again.

Everywhere you go to derail a fucking article back to YOUR important opinion, I’ll be there reminding everyone that you are a dirty rotten, self entitled piece of dog shit.

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

Sorry, I don’t like replying to idiots.

          • jordanxxxbrookes

You also don’t like fresh air, dropping below 40% bodyfat, vagina or anything a normal 21 year old would enjoy.

You seriously don’t realize how often you go down this same stupid fucking path? A guy mentions he’d buy a taunt IF it was cool and here your worthless ass immediately, “so you condone slavery, domestic violence and capital punishment? ”

For all your bitching. If being a stupid nerdy piece of dog shit was competitive you’d be taking home lots prizes. You don’t condone Activision but you ll be playing BO3 getting your shit kicked in on release night.

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

Yeah, typical internet pussy, assuming things, despite you not knowing me. Absolutely pathetic. Your statements stem from nothing. Quit trolling and leave.

        • Logic Chief

i would prefer if it was ingame unlocks like how BO1 was with cod points and you have to buy taunts and gestures with cod points but we all know that wont happen. They really should add cod points that you can spend on non core gameplay stuff like appearance and what not

          • PuddingAuxRais1ns

I would rather that too. After all, I would love to get everything for free.

          • Logic Chief

its would make the game so much funnier when you have to grind all day to save up the cod points needed to buy like a helmet or whatever. im also thinking they should add like special specialist weapon with different camos like you can save up tons of points to buy a diamond firethrower gun for 9th specialist

        • Slothigans

You do realize that DLC is purely optional right? It’s up to you to decide if you want it.

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

That justifies and excuses nothing. Non-cosmetic microtransactions in F2P games, for example, are optional, but that doesn’t mean that the concept of Pay-to-Win doesn’t exist. Even cosmetic DLC is problematic. If it’s cosmetic, then why can’t I earn it for free? If I can spend time grinding for free camos, then why can’t I grind for cosmetic ones?

          • jordanxxxbrookes

He does realize it. Just please tell him he is correct.

Micro DLC is worse than child abuse.

Sony Playstation is better than an orgasm, a Super Bowl ring and grandma’s apple pie combined.

          • Slothigans

        • MyKogInYourAshe

If it’s something cosmetic that wouldn’t be in the final game then i don’t see any problem…

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

Things like DLC cannot be justified, despite the fact that they could be cosmetic. I think it’s a huge issue that should not be ignored.

          • jordanxxxbrookes

            How much do you weigh?

            270+ right?

        • Stealthninja808

What’s an acceptable version of DLC? I don’t think DLC itself is bad, do you?

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

The concept of DLC in this day and age is bad and made gaming go downhill. Expansion Packs are fine.

          • Stealthninja808

            Well expansion packs are DLC….
            How do you define each?
I hear the common excuse that DLC is optional, and in some cases it is. But often DLC is just missing content that should have been there at the start. However, I don’t think the gimmicky dlc(camos, personalization) really are an issue. They are so small that they don’t affect the quality of the game. Yes it may reflect on a publisher’s desire to suck a consumer dry, but it’s a dog eat dog world.

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

Expansion Packs and DLC are 2 different things. Expansions are, essentially, huge DLC. DLC’s are Expansion Packs split-up.

Microtransactions are the worst of the worst, especially with things like Advanced Supply Drops. The content could easily be free Add-Ons.

        • Mario Rivera

Optional dlc that has no effect on the competitive nature of the game shouldnt be bitched about.

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

“Optional” excuses nothing. It deserves criticism. And competitive nature? What? CoD isn’t competitive, that’s not the point of Multiplayer gaming…

        • RdJokr

Please, just don’t, OK? Don’t even start your rant about how Activision is an evil corporation and how DLC ruins gaming. I’ve heard enough of that shit on every gaming news site now, I don’t need to see it here.

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

I don’t see why, concerning the fact that it’s a gigantic issue, but alright, NBD.

          • RdJokr

*sigh* Alright, I’m only gonna tell you this ONE last time. And if you can’t come up with any better replies than “that doesn’t justify anything” or “I disagree” or anything that involves recycling your opinion on corporations and DLC milking, then please don’t even reply.

As you’ve stated in a separate comment, budgets for making AAA games are getting more and more expensive. But that’s only half the story. Thanks to inflation and various other factors affecting the economy, your $60 today isn’t the same as the $60 you have from years ago. Hell, it’s not even the same as the $60 you got yesterday. This is one of the reasons why publishers keep cutting back content for many games; because at the time they did it, $60 per copy of a game wasn’t enough to cover the costs. More money has to be made to do so. Hence, DLC.

Now, given the amount of crazy marketing and celebrities they got to be involved with Call of Duty, it was only obvious that they would start charging more heavily with DLC. Hence why DLCs for COD are usually more expensive compared to other games’. Is it fair? No, but that’s how businesses work. You sell your products at a price that needs to be able to cover all the costs that come with making and marketing them. If you can’t do that, then you suffer from losses. Then we start to see budget cuts, layoffs, etc…

If it hasn’t been obvious to you, it takes a WHOLE LOT MORE than just preaching your ideals about rising up against corporations and their “milking schemes”. It requires changing the entire economy from inside out. And people like you and I are incapable of doing such things. So, unless you are a billionaire who can use his wealth to change the world, just know your place, and go with the flow.

I will say this one last thing though: You can’t change a business model, but what you can do is vote with your wallet, and make the model more acceptable in the foreseeable future.

          • This. All of this. Thank you dude.

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

That was well-put. You basically iterated my own thoughts with what I couldn’t actually explain. But still, I don’t see what’s wrong with my “it’s not justified” point, because “it’s a business” does not justify greed and non-ethical decisions. The AAA market is in trouble.

          • jordanxxxbrookes

            Nothing wrong with the opinion.

Every wrong with constantly saying the same shit and calling everyone idiots.

Empty ominous proclamations don’t change facts.

People play the games and just don’t buy the micro dlc if they think it’s a scam.

Mobile gaming and big MMO titles are even worse when it comes to sucking customers dry and they are a billion dollar industry that threatens console gaming.

You believing something and provided 4 year old articles you Google don’t change facts. We’ll still play COD, MGS5, GTAV, Arkham Knight, Final Fantasy, FIFA, Destiny, Super Mario Maker amongst other amazing “AAA” titles. Nothing is ruined. TV, Films and Music industry has to deal with pirating and free streaming. Gaming is one of the few medias not majorly affected by consumers finding a free alternative.

Perception of companies like EA, Ubisoft, Capcom, Activision and increasingly WB and Konami is getting worse and worse. However, as long as people keep buying the dumb shit (which is their right ) the shit keeps happening.

We can all agree whether business or harmless or not it’s a fucked up situation but move the fuck on. This probably doesn’t even qualify as a First World Problem it’s so petty to discuss. Let’s fight against cable companies and cell phone companies.

          • RdJokr

If we’re going to try to find justification for every single business decision, then the gaming industry will crumble before you know it. It’s a race to see who makes the most money. If you’re not willing to make such decisions, you get left behind.

I, too, feel sad when publishers nickle and dime us every turn, but that’s how it is. It’s a system that requires a tremendous amount of effort in order to change it, and preaching anti-corporation ideals isn’t the way to go. With that being said, however, that’s where developers come in: while the final decision will still be made by publishers, developers can make suggestions and convince them to choose which contents should be released as DLC. If I felt that the base game was already worth $60, then I wouldn’t mind paying for extra content.

          • Yankeephil

I actually hope I’m in a lobby with you so I can use all the taunts that I’m going to pay $2 a piece for

          • jordanxxxbrookes

You know he is going to. No one is giving him any rebuttal he hasn’t heard nor is he saying anything new or anymore FACTUAL than what he has said 200+ times.

It’s amazing how people call out fanboys(rightfully so) and folks who think companies can do no wrong.
Yet people like him think it’s ok to just be haters and talk shit about companies all day. I mean look how long he has been saying this shit. At least a puppet like Tmartn or Ali A gets paid handsomely capping for COD. This idiot gets off just howling at the moon essentially.

          • Oh it’s not just Activision, he’s going to shit on all of us for even contemplating buying any form of micro dlc.
He reminds me alot of Kim Davis, the county clerk from here in Kentucky that denied gay marriages despite being told to issue them, in the fact that he sees the world through rose colored glasses.
He’s always right, and we’re all always wrong. Period.
The only way to stop him is to either take away every piece of electronic equipment he has at this point so he can never comment on here again or ban him from the boards.

        • jordanxxxbrookes

He just isn’t making it his mission in life like you.

Like is there something wrong with you? SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THIS.

You talk all this shit and you’ll be playing the piss out of Black Ops 3. You can convince yourself not pre ordering os a moral victory. Buying used is a more victory. Stealing it may be a moral victory but you’ll still play it. A game that is made by a evil publisher you despise and a game that isn’t in your top 100 franchises.

You are a fucking pussy. Gawd damn. I’ve heard of Bible Belt NRA members more sane and objective than you. Eat a dick

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

Glad you’re mad at me. The effort is meaningless, however, because I’m not going to let some schmuck on the internet tell me what to do. Your attempts are pathetic. Kindly go fuck yourself and leave.

          • jordanxxxbrookes

Pathetic? You’ve been sucking Sony’s dick, bashing Xbox and even PC, demeaning opinions and constantly saying the same shit for months now.

People upvote everyone but you and tbe bullshit you say. People give you differing opinions on competitive gaming as well as micro dlc. Instead of disagreeing, understanding and moving on you keep going.

You don’t want indifference because that means moving on.

You don’t wanna just say you prefer Playstation while still acknowledging good PC and Xbox One games. Because that means agreeing to disagree and moving on.

You want to keep turning every article into why Brady is right and everyone is wrong.

Then even when folks move on and let you be right and weird, you’ll just find a new article and new person to preach to.

I don’t know you. Just like you don’t know any of the folks you demean or any of the actual good folks that may work at Activision or Microsoft. The guy who went to college to be graphic designer who helps on these industry ruining DLC. You don’t care about the random wanna be quick scoper who may literally just wanna fuck around on COD.

All you care about is you. You’re the worst person on this site. You are a piece of shit.

          • Xerolh

He’s a dumbass. He always thinks he’s right and says the stupidest shit.

          • jordanxxxbrookes

All your anti Activision talk means shit when you’ll be playing on release night with all us moronic, kid, corporate, pro Holocaust shills.

I’m far from mad. Just disappointed someone didn’t run you away sooner.

You’re the EA Sports of Disque commentators….Except at least EA Sports is worth something.

          • Pessysquad

Damn, I think Jordan won this one. Haha

          • jordanxxxbrookes

It’s not about me. This dude is seriously the worst thing on this site. One minute he pretends he wants civil discussion, respects opinions and hates fanboys.

Next minute he is ranting about how Microsoft is evil, Xbox owners are morons, Sony is amazing, last gen is ruining gaming for current gen, micro dlc is ruining gaming gaming, pre orders are ruining gaming, Microsoft’s acquisitions ruin gaming.

All the shit he talks about hating Activision and COD not being in his favorite 100 gaming franchise(OBVIOUS BULLSHIT STATEMENT) but he will be playing Black Ops 3 on release.

He doesn’t like sports games, is anti social, doesn’t think skills exist in gaming at all, thinks competitive has no place in gaming and has discussed this same shit 100+ times.

He needs to go off this site. He isn’t interested in discussion nor even helping gamers from getting screwed by companies…He wants to call folks morons and feel superior because he Googles articles and calls folks morons. You don’t have to worry about him much longer. It’s time this worthless piece of shit be gone.

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

        • Xerolh

Jesus Christ dude, it’s just dlc. You don’t have to buy it.

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

That does nothing for me. What’s idiotic is excusing and condoning it by saying stupid shit like “it’s optional.” It’s redundant.

          • Xerolh

Holy fuck, you’re delusional. There is nothing wrong with cosmetic dlc. Does it effect how you play? No, so why the fuck do you care?

          • jordanxxxbrookes

            “This does nothing for me.”

You’d think this motherfucker is Hideo Kojima himself. Most people who depise micro dlc don’t buy it, buy the game used and move on.

This motherfucker wants to tell you how to spend YOUR money and say gaming isn’t ruined despite gaming being very profitable still.

Only thing that isn’t even threatening gaming is mobile gaming. That shit is nothing but bs micro transaction and ads yet mobile gaming is a billion dollar cash cow. Which further disproves his trying to make his biased opinion factual.

Even if you told him you agree he’ll find someone to argue with. He has zero shame to keep saying this same shit for months

          • YUNG $TAR FRUIT

remind me to read this in the morning….

          • jordanxxxbrookes

If you can’t tell what you think i rejected here you stupid bitch.

You don’t like competitive, quick scoping, shotguns, LMGs, pistols, hate Activision, hate micro dlc, don’t think skill exists, hate competitive, buy the game used, and Call of Duty isn’t even in the top 100 franchises so catering to you is the last thing COD, this site and gaming in general needs to do.

You can’t just have your own opinion and move the fuck on. I gave you a chance to stfu but you won’t. I will rid this site of you. You’re a fat, virgin stupid piece of shit.

Funniest part is you’ll STILL be playing COD at release. You want your cake and eat it too. Which I guess for a fat virgin makes sense.

I’m going to rid you from here.

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

You don’t even know me, so quit assuming shit that you know nothing about. I haven’t bought CoD used when they first release. I’ve been supporting Activision for the past 8 years, therefore my ‘bitching’ is justified. Yours, however, is not. I’m not going to apologize for caring about the industry and what we are entitled to as consumers. As long as I don’t spread extreme negativity, you shouldn’t care period. I don’t post these things to be negative, I say these things to spark conversation, and it works. Not to upset people nor get a reaction out of them, but to make them think. If I make them think logically, then that’s the icing on the cake. Even if they disagree, my objective is to make whatever argument that I personally feel is logical and intelligent, and I couldn’t care less what anyone thinks about me in a negative sense. My point of existence is not to get random people on the internet to like me.

          • jordanxxxbrookes

So you don’t care what people on the internet think yet you care enough to constantly talk to people on the internet and tell them what you think?

So you’re one of those “I don’t care what people think about me”(unless it’s positive and they agree with me) types.

We’ve all supported Activision mostly because we like the games they make (rip Guitar Hero) not because we care enough to damage control nor to bitch constantly.

Don’t pretend you want actual discussion because telling someone their valid opinion is stupid, idiotic or non sensical isn’t respecting opinion and discussion.

Like are you bipolar? A guy said he MIGHT buy micro dlc and you accused him of condoning the micro dlc practice. When in reality the fact that you bitch about the game yet buy it and no one accuses you of condoning evil doing.

Why don’t you stop being an asshole. Multiple people have called you out on this. You can say you don’t care about folks on Internet but be consistent.

Don’t say you respect someone’s opinion or gamers one minute. Then next minute accuse them of being stupid or a corporate sheep just because they merely disagree with your exaggerations.

You don’t wanna discuss anything. You just want to constantly be right. You’ve never once said “I think micro dlc is evil but here is a good compromise “. It’s always “micro dlc is ruining gaming, skill doesn’t exist, competitive is stupid and doesn’t help anyone and here goes 4 blogs to prove my point, you’re all wrong. ”

Just apologize for being an ass. That’s all I ask of you. On behalf of all the folks you’ve disrespected or called retarded(despite calling a guy an insensitive prick for same thing)

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

You’re stupid. Yeah, I want people to see what I have to say, and I don’t care what other people *negatively* think about me.

  • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

It’s cool that they’re ripping off of Blacklight Retribution. The taunts and gestures and post-game screen are pretty neat little features.

It’s cool that you think Blacklight Retribution invented taunts.

      • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

It didn’t invent anything, but it was the first game that came to mind when I thought about post-match features that Black Ops 3 uses similarly. Just because I give one example about a feature in one game, doesn’t mean that I’m saying that it invented the feature. That is ridiculous. In fact, Blacklight Retribution did quite a few of its own copycatting. Kill Confirmed ring a bell? Not sure if it invented this, but it’s the first game I’ve seen it in:

        • Pretty sure Kill Confirmed came from Crysis, right?

          • BradyAlucard[sillibk]

I’m not sure. I always thought that it was an original game mode. Many CoD modes are derived from Counter-Strike.
