Activision has revealed that Call of Duty keeps on growing: over the last quarter, Call of Duty saw its highest monthly active users in franchise history.

In addition, Activision CEO stated that Black Ops 3’s Opening Weekend beat out Star Wars: The Force Awakens opening weekend’s sales.

Activision Publishing’s Call of Duty franchise revenues grew double digits year‐over‐year both for the full year and in Q4, ending the quarter with the highest MAUsA in franchise history. The strong performance was driven by Call of Duty: Black Ops III, which had the biggest entertainment opening weekend of 2015, and was the #1 console game globally for the calendar year. Call of Duty was the #1 franchise in North America for the seventh year in a row.

They make the most money in the ENTIRE ENTERTAINMENT industry EVERY YEAR YET THEY ARE STILL MILKING YOU WITH SUPPLY DROPS AND PAY2WIN. Let that sink in for a moment.

No other game is milking you harder than CoD is despite being no where near successful

    • Kyle Soule

      (Money whores)

    • Bob Saget

You offended me so im sueing you bye bye

      • Ak74u

What activision does is a scam they take advantage of young kids by milking they’re pockets from every penny they have they know youngsters like my old self will fall for this supply drop scam bullshit

        • Well if you can’t stop yourself from spending real money on stuff that you can earn with in-game credits that you earn from playing the game, then you have a problem. You need to see help for your problem.

Its quite simple, don’t buy DLC or microtransactions.

          • Alexome

Supply drops are a form of gambling and gambling can lead to serious addictions. For some people,it’s hard for them to control themselves and will buy this shit. It’s not that simple because clearly you don’t know the effects of gambling.

    • Stif Meister

They’re only “milking you” if you’re stupid enough to buy CoD points.

    • Logic Chief

Quit playing then dude. Problem solved

      • CoDforever

Im just stating how greedy they have become despite racking up billions of dollars every year anyways.

        • Will WilFredo Mendoza

Youre just mad that they have money, you dont. What The Fuck? Shut up and dont play. Literally, youre just whining about how much money those pricks have. Geez. Plus, no one is forcing you to buy a CoD game/pay for CoD Points.

        • Its a company that is trying to find new methods of revenue to build the company and make investors happy.

People buy this stuff, which means some people want this stuff. You’re not required to buy the extra stuff. It might be cool stuff that makes it a hard decision to avoid paying for it, but its nothing new in the gaming industry.

I’d rather the company that keeps building better shooter games every year continue to grow and make more, so they can take that money and reinvest it into the next game and make something even better.

Popular games on PC such as CSGO has been doing this for years, its nothing new. I’m just surprised its taken this long for them to do it.

Its not all about you. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. Its that simple. You go become the CEO of Activision, then you can decide whether or not its a right decision.

          • CoDforever

yeah im sure the investors werent aready happy making billions of dollars every year ..

CSGO doesnt have weapons in their crates, its actually ALL cosmetic and you can even sell them ..

lol defend them all u want you’re probably someone who pays $300 on supply drops

          • I haven’t played Call of Duty since around Christmas actually. I’m addicted to Ark Survival right now (lol). But I don’t think you really understand how a business functions and what an investor actually is. So trying to explain why more revenue streams matters to a company, is like trying to talk to a brick wall.

Whether CSGO has weapons in their crates or not, its still a similar idea. You can actually earn the COD points to unlock the cosmetics and weapons in the crates on Black Ops 3 without paying any money at all. Isn’t that amazing that you don’t have to spend money to unlock camos and weapons on Black Ops 3? WoW! Too bad I can’t do that on CSGO or any other popular shooter game…

I’m not here trying to justify whether its right or not, but we don’t have money invested into the company to have the power to say what is right and isn’t right. People just see microtransactions and freak out like its the end of the world. I don’t understand it at all because you’re not forced to buy them. Go play another game or get over the fact that someone else probably got lucky winning a weapon skin that you didn’t.

          • Mattyv

CS originated from Half Life as a mod and CS was free for years until they sold out.

          • unscene

Are you still playing AW?!?!?!?!?!? BO3 is in no way pay to win lol

          • Jon

Do you know how silly you sound right now? Clearly you don’t have a clue how businesses are ran.

          • CoDforever

Im just saying that investers arent mad with how much cod is making without microtransactions. They added them because of pure greed.

          • Jon

            You just don’t get it.

        • Logic Chief

Wouldn’t be a good business model if they didn’t wanna make money.

        • Jon

Its a business. Why wouldn’t they have a goal of making money or becoming the biggest entertainment company. Greed has nothing to do with it. They are SUCCESSFUL. This isnt a not for profit organization here…..your comments make no sense. Are you looking for a handout?

          • CoDforever

Yeah but theres something called business morals and ethics. Activision already make billions every year with the cod franchise alone, theres no reason for them to continue to nickel and dime us like this. Its not illegal, but its certainly not a good route to go down.

          • Jon

I understand that. But they are not forcing you to purchase these supply drops. You can earn the kryptokeys by just playing the game. People just want to bitch about something I guess.

    • British Blaze

Well they aren’t milking me so I’m fine with that.

    • W1LL1AM04

    • Black Six

Activision is greedy as hell. I can’t see how people think EA is worse.

    • Csgo comes close but they don’t even milk you because the equipment you get is actually valuble lol

    • Bob Saget

Supply drops are the best thing since deathstreaks

    • spartanelite

Pay to win? It more like pay to get a gimmicky fun gun,if you suck with default weapon’s you’ll suck with these guns too l,it doesn’t make a difference

What needs to be done is have like a set amount of keys needed to directly buy the dlc weapons like 360 keys. They should also add a way to convert cod points to keys so it would cost $12 cash to buy a weapon or you have to save up in game. Activision will make their money people will always still buy the cod points and and going off the around 30 keys per 2 hours rate it will take still 12 hours to farm 360 keys so their will still be a demand to just go the faster path of buying cod points. More causal player will only be able to save up to get only some guns. We need to get this system to someone at treyarch to pitch the idea to Activision.

  • The more people buy CoD points the more likely they are to be in the next CoD, and the CoD after that. People will get bored eventually and realise that if you need to keep buying this shit to keep a game fresh after the second month of release, it’s a shit game to begin with.

I got bored of the maps, specialists, weapons etc first week of December. It’s all a numbers game to Activision, and regardless of how many people hate jet packs and Exo-Suits, as long as sales stay the way they are, which they will, this whole flying in the air bullshit is here to stay.

It’s a matter of when, rather than if, people start getting bored and saying no to this money machine will something eventually change.

    COD 2016 anyone?

  • zack

The solution is simple. Make the individual weapons with no camos available for individual purchase for $3.99 – $5.99. Then they can still put the new guns with camo variants in the supply drops to continue ripping people off. I think they should do this for guns only. I think the melee weapons are fine exclusively in supply drops.

This “marketing statement” is 100% pure bullshit of the highest order.

    • milos

bang on the money there. if the user activity is a record high why not put how many people online in the multiplayer menu
