Blizzard’s newest shooter, Overwatch, is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 24. It’s all new IP from Blizzard, a subsidiary of the Activision Blizzard Inc company. The new Overwatch title is an FPS based around hero characters that players can pick and play with. The title will be Blizzard’s first to release simultaneously on consoles and PC.
Speaking at PAX East to GamesRadar, Blizzard’s Assistant Game Director Aaron Keller stated that they reached out to Treyarch for their advice on how to make sure aim assist works well on the console versions of Overwatch.
“We actually worked with some of the Treyarch guys to make sure our aim assist [on controllers] felt really good, they were really helpful,” Keller told me at PAX East.
Keller also stated that Treyarch devs have visited Blizzard’s studios as well to see what they are working on. He followed up stating that their development team has collaborated with many other Activision studios.
“The funny thing is, we collaborate with a lot of different Activision studios,” Keller said. “We collaborate with the Destiny team, when they were building Destiny they wanted to talk to some of the people at World of Warcraft to see how they made some of their content. And we’ve gone to Treyarch a number of times and talked to them, whether it’s about some of their guts of the engine features, or whether it’s about tuning changes. And they’ve come out and looked at some of our stuff, too.”
