Infinity Ward’s Multiplayer Project Director, Jordan Hirsh, has stated in an interview with PlayStation LifeStyle that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s multiplayer mode will have 12 maps available on disc at launch. For those that preorder and get Terminal, that brings the total to 13.

How many maps are you going to launch with?

Jordan: That’s funny, I was just asked this, and I don’t actually know for sure! I believe it’s 12 maps plus a pre-order bonus.

For comparison, Infinity Ward’s last title, Call of Duty: Ghosts, had 14 maps at launch (15 including Free Fall bonus). 12 maps is the same number of maps that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 had at launch.

Four out of the total 12 maps have already been revealed: Frost, Throwback, Breakout, and Frontier. More on those maps available here.

Not only do they copy and paste bo3 they even do the same amount of map as bo3… ( I know it’s not a copy and paste but you know)

  • Mick

Eh. Wish there was more at launch, but whatever.

  • Daniel van Rie

Nice but I want names from the maps or a few or images

    That’s fine with me 🙂

  • imBATMAN

    furst me daddy

  • se7en

Thats it? Lame, for a game thats known for multiplayer they sure dont like having map variety….I bet there will be 3 map remakes in those 12 maps too.

  • RdJokr

At this rate we’ll be cutting down to 10 maps at launch with Sledgehammer or Treyarch’s next game…

    • Jay Evan

Infinite Warfare 2 has 5 maps, none of them being on earth.

  • Element115Will

They do this for DLC i am pretty sure. Oh well. No surprise there.

  • Hayashii

I miss the old times when they made like 16 or at least 14 maps for theier games. Black Ops 3 and now Infinite Warfare are the games with the least number of maps ever in the series. Having 2~4 extra maps really makes a difference.

  • Kyle Soule

All I’m saying is they better be good

  • OuyaMasterrace

If they are all good maps, i’m fine with it. BO3 has a lot of meh maps.

    • jt3z

Agreed there is no reall stand out map in Bo3 like Standoff and Raid from Bo2(New ver play differently with the boosting)

    • ben wills

Except BO3 was the first to do this whole 12 maps thing. Hasn’t worked well. Less and worse.

  • ShadowMaster862

I see that extra year is being put to good use.

    • BradyAlucard

The graphics seem like they took a while, cause man is this game a beaut…

      • ShadowMaster862

Well that’s a pretty fair point. But they better have put some of that time into a new engine; otherwise it won’t be worth it to me.

      • jt3z

The game does actually look decent whcih is a surprise considering its from Infinity ward which is known for crappy graphics. Hoping for a good game

        • BradyAlucard

Ghosts didn’t look terrible on current gen tbh. It had some pretty high-fidelity graphics, like tesselation (sub-d) and such.

        • Eddie rich

Crappy? Cod 4 was awesome in 07 and mw3 was better than this new talk poo bro

      • Eddie rich

        Are you kidding

        • BradyAlucard

No I’m not kidding. Are you blind? It’s the best graphics CoD’s ever had, if you had critiques about the game, graphics would not be one of them.

    • djml9

They spent that time on everything BUT more maps

  • I really don’t understand why we only get such a small portion of maps for a next-gen game, I know “DLC” but c’mon…

    • DeadZombieGaming 12

”Next-Gen” doesn’t mean more maps, it is just more graphical power and shit.
      Also, Next-gen doesn’t exist currently.

  • Jon

12 maps is good for me. I am sure as weeks go by there will be several that I won’t like and several that I always vote for.

  • Emre

And dlc with old remake maps

  • How did we go from 14-15 maybe even 16 maps at launch with a 2 year development cycle to 12 with a 3 year development cycle? How does that make sense? You get more time to work on the game and we get less content…lol.

    • RdJokr

Obviously the extra time is spent on new features.

      • reamerb .

        Still not good enough.

      • Like what? Where is the new features? And do they really take all that time?

        • RdJokr

Well, for starter, we have a loot system, don’t we? And then there’s Gunsmith, Paintshop, movement system, etc… There’s never a set date for when you finish with a feature. Sure, there’s a stage that they can be considered “done”, but software development is a fickle thing. Change something totally unrelated to another thing, and somehow that thing still breaks down and doesn’t work quite right. Hence the need to put in work for bugfixing throughout the year.

Basically, writing codes is a shit job, even for the most professional developers. Shit breaks all the time, and given the massive amount of codes they have to sift through every day, it’s a time-consuming job. Especially when you work for a publisher that demands deadlines for new stuff, like more loot items and DLC maps.

          • None of the features you listed are new. So where is the new features you speak of?

          • RdJokr

Uhh… I was talking about BO3. Pretty sure these weren’t present in Treyarch’s past games.

          • Well you should probably pay attention, i was talking about Infinite Warfare. Not Black Ops 3.

          • RdJokr

Still, given that it’s an IW game, they are still new features to them. It’s nothing new to us, but to devs, they’re doing it the first time.

          • No. If it was in the last game, it wont be new in this year’s game regardless of the developer.

          • RdJokr

How hard is it for you to get the idea? Treyarch created Gunsmith and the whole “6 attachments per gun” and such, but IW never did. To them, it’s a new feature that they have to learn in order to use in their game. That means thousands of codes and lines to study and write, maybe even more. That requires a substantial amount of time to work with. Time that could cut in the development of other things, like the number of maps at launch.

          • And once again, not new. You said new features, If IW completely rips off what BO3 ideas and features it’s not NEW REGARDLESS OF THE DEVELOPER. No excuse to have only 12 maps especially when you’re pulling them out your ass like “oh more time is being focused on paintshop and gunsmith ” bullfuckingshit dude.

          • RdJokr

Ugh, I’m not gonna bother arguing with you. Explaining the difficulty of software development to you casual consumers is time-consuming as shit.

          • I’m sure, lol

    • Marc Grierson

I’d rather 12 great maps than 15 with 4 or 5 shite maps =) hopefully that’s the case anyway.

      • So you rather have less content to decrease the possibility of crap maps.

        • jt3z

it can go both ways lol. I mean more maps give a better chance at good maps or give them more time to make good maps

          • True, i just rather have more content and variety.

          • jt3z

As do i. I believe this extra year has been all about the movement system and additional content(Supply drop content/Weapons). When we go back to boots on the ground(Hopefully with Sledgehammers next game) it should give them more time to actually make decent maps and better overall balance. Hopefully better net code too lol

          • Eh, I highly doubt it’s because of those reasons why there isn’t more maps, but either way, I hope SHgames does take the series back to its roots next year as well. Need a break from this future stuff badly.

        • Marc Grierson

If they would rather put the time in effort into 12 great maps rather than 15/16 where they have made an extra 3 or 4 half arsed maps just to bloat out the game. 100% I’m down for that. More doesn’t always equate to better.

          • I mean if you look at it that way that’s true but in Call of Duty, the maps are average and they are the same. Even Infinity Ward said that it’s a three lane map design and maps are small to medium and there are only 12? Yeah. Totally. That’s boring. I want more content. MW2 had bigger maps and there was more maps at launch, same for CoD4.

      • Eddie rich

It is the case..12 shite looking crappy maps compared with 16 great ones 10 yrs ago (cod4)

    • Eddie rich

      Agreeed and shittier graphics

  • jordanxbrookes

    I didn’t say that whatsoever 😛

  • Alex

    COD is shit

    pew pew pew laser gaylords

  • djml9

    Same as BO3.

  • N FORCE 5

Whatever happened to that one map in BO3? It was in the original game but I never get to play it anymore. It was Evac I think.

    • Kobrah

It is in the playlist. They took it out or rotation for a month or so to patch some glitches but it has been back for a while now

  • Brook phillips

More generic maps that might as well be blocks and halls going up and down. Woot woot.

  • Ghost had 14 maps? i didn’t realize that

  • Old CoD’s had a 2 year dev cycle, yet have MUCH better maps, and a lot more of them. Makes since…

  • RebornAngel666

Everyone who says this game looks good, kys. I bet you were one of the 3 million people that disliked their video. Smfh. And good, stay on infinite warfare and BO3, it’s where you BELONG. Don’t be coming on MWRemastered and tryna ruin the game. I swear, you all love that jumping shit, even when I bet 100% you complained about it and hated it. Now you love it lmao. Enjoy IW, you stay on your game, I will stay on mine. Fuck that pussy jumping in the air for kills shit. I’d much rather get drop shot, or (one hop) jump shot. Bye 🙂 fuckers

  • Eddie rich

So wheres the “You killed….” pop up txt when you kill someone?? Yet again we have to squint our eyes yp at the killfeed if we want to tease our mates..and what happened to the graphics??
    COD 4 = 10 OUT OF 10????
