Similar to how Activision released a Modern Warfare Trilogy Collection for last-generation consoles, Activision has now released a Call of Duty: Black Ops Collection for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

This collection includes Call of Duty: Black Ops 1, Black Ops 2, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. As a note, since this is the last-gen versions, Black Ops 3 on Xbox 360 and PS3 only includes the MP and Zombies mode from the game.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops Trilogy features the two best-selling titles of all time on PS3 and Xbox 360, and the #1 best-selling title of 2015. Call of Duty: Black Ops will take you behind enemy lines as a member of an elite special forces unit engaging in covert warfare, classified operations, and explosive conflicts across the globe. With access to exclusive weaponry and equipment, your actions will tip the balance during the most dangerous time period mankind has ever known. Call of Duty: Black Ops II is a time-spanning, generation-spanning narrative; Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 introduces players to an insidious villain named Raul Menendez who hijacks the US military infrastructure to further his own agenda. Harness the power of near-future technology and advanced robotics to pull the world back from the brink of annihilation. Call of Duty: Black Ops III deploys its players into a future where biotechnology has enabled a new breed of Black Ops soldier. Call of Duty: Black Ops III for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 features two modes only: Multiplayer and Zombies, providing fans with an expansive Multiplayer and an all-new film-noir Zombies adventure.

Might as well have BO and BO2 on backward compatibility, bundle it with BO3 current gen and call it a day. Putting the last gen port of BO3 next to the other two games is insulting as shit to Treyarch’s work.

    • Element115Will

I can bet that activi$ion doesnt care about the developers, only tells em to hurry up and make the next game to milk the series.

Looks like MP for PS Now will never happen. Its only main drawback being that it’s for users who never owned a PS3, its really not a bad answer for backwards compatibility.

      • Mario Rivera

You wouldn’t want to play COD MP streaming to a emulator anyway. On a professionally optimized 100/100 connection, I tried to play SF4 Ultra arcade mode and it was unplayable with input lag. The only thing that service is really viable for is turn based RPGs, fast paced twitch reaction games should stay far away from this, especially online MP. I found myself wanting to play ps3 not so long ago myself so I just bought one. A little while later I found a backwards compatible one for really cheap so I actually ended up with 2.

        • BradyAlucard

Xbox One backwards compatibility is emulation as well just for everyone’s information. I mean really it’s a good service that gives you over 400 games and the service itself isn’t bad either. Definitely better than no BC at all.

          • Mario Rivera

I know its emulation both ways but at least on the Xbox one isn’t adding the extra layer of functionality hindrance by streaming the game via the network. I honestly wouldn’t recommend that either as its not hard to just pick up a real 360/PS3 for $50 or less. I see used 360’s in particular constantly going for under $30 around my way.

          • BradyAlucard

Are those consoles even functional? I’d rather play remasters because they wouldn’t have standard definition. I’d have to pay for them down the line though considering laziness.

          • Mario Rivera

Of course remasters are different as they are designed to run natively on that current gen platform. I’m not ever going back to 360/PS3 to play COD4 when the updated version on current gen is clearly superior. Its just that not every 360/PS3 game gets remastered so for those you really want to avoid emulation and play those on the actual hardware they were designed for.

As far as picking out the most reliable versions of those consoles go, you are really gonna want a PS3/360 slim (Not the newer cheaply made ”super slim” PS3). The original ”phat” models are prone to failing due to poor heat dissipation. Although I do make a exception for the ”phat” 20GB/60GB backwards compatible PS3 models since you can vastly improve reliability on those by simply opening them up and properly re-applying the thermal paste. Unlike the 80GB backwards compatible PS3 that uses emulation, The 20GB/60GB models use real PS2 hardware to play PS2 games so to me, its worth the extra work to make them reliable.

Its laughable how Sony could have avoided so much stress by simply not doing such as half-assed job on something so simple. BTW, its quite rewarding to modify both of those consoles to allow you to play all the games/DLC you want from internal storage or a USB hard drive 100% free. But I’ve ranted on long enough lol.

Wow, a pack with Black Ops 1, 2 and Minecraft!!! Awesome

  • Gimpanese

    Best cod series

    • Aidan

Black ops & Black ops 2 are fantastic games…

Black ops 3 was thought up behind a dumpster at a dirty strip club.

MW is still the best imo

      • ShadowMaster862

While I enjoyed BO3, (mostly Zombies except for the ending) I will always consider WaW, BO1 and BO2 as the REAL Treyarch Trilogy.

        • I think you when you look at the campaign of the game for Black Ops 3, it really seems like to me that Treyarch intended for this game to be titled something else. I honestly feel that they didn’t want to do Black Ops 3 and have Black Ops 2 be the end of that series.

          • ShadowMaster862

Yeah, it feels like Activision or they themselves made the title that just to be safe for sales. There’s almost no correlation to the other games involved.

          • It’s funny how World at War has more connection to the Black Ops series than Black Ops 3 itself does lol

        • Keshu Rao

Yea, should’ve included WaW as well

      • jordanxbrookes

Lmao very true. Black Ops and Black Ops 2 were great games.

        • BradyAlucard

Black Ops 2 was a mixed bag for me. So was BO3 but luckily that game didn’t have broken snipers, LMG’s, and perks.

    • The Black Ops trilogy is indeed great. I always thought Treyarch outdid themselves with each game. Black Ops 3 is probably the best Call of Duty since Black Ops 2. Only been a month since IW came out and I already miss the hell out of Black Ops 3

  • ccrows

I’d be shocked if BO2 isn’t added to BC by spring/summer.

Activision needs major COD channels to be talking about “COD” again on a daily basis, and build up momentum for SH 2017…

    • weewee

Sorry to say, but prepare to be shocked then. I hope that BO2 was added to BC as well, but i really doubt it just because Activision probably want the games that can make them the most money to be remade. I’m guessing BO2 and MW2 are for sure future remakes.

      • ccrows

Let it be BC for now, since many still have the game, and then remaster it later.

I mean I have COD4 for PC, but it’s dated compared to the remaster on my XB1…

        • w

i really hope that’s the case dude. i love me some BO2.

    • BradyAlucard

No need to be hyped for older games, I’d rather see BO2 remastered. Just imagine.

      • ccrows

Why not both BC (now) and remastered (later)?… ¯_(ツ)_/¯

        • BradyAlucard

          Better lol.

      • Black Ops 2 is too young to be remastered honestly

        • BradyAlucard

I’d still like to see it remastered, we’ve seen newer games be remastered and I really couldn’t care less because it’s not worth complaining about. BO2’s graphics do look good enough already. Maybe substitute it for World at War or Black Ops 1. I just want to play past Zombie maps with visuals as good as BO3’s.

          • I mean I rather see the likes of MW2 or BO1 or WaW be remastered before Black Ops 2 as it’s fairly a recent game.

          • BradyAlucard

Just imagine WaW or MW2 given the Crash Bandicoot or MWR remake-like treatment…

Who would have ever guessed that Activision developers would be good at making remasters? Everyone else should follow suit.

    • If they want Call of Duty to gain momentum for next year, it’s not going to be achieved by backwards compatible. Might as well start the yearly “leaks” earlier than normal.

  • It don’t come with all of the DLC, That sucks

  • imBATMAN

    l u n a t o r i s a dumbass

I got so excited until I saw what consoles it was for… I have a feeling if Activison continues with the remakes for collectors editions that MW2 and WAW are next but honestly they should remaster BO1 and BO2 and bring them to next gen since they were so amazing. I would love to play Kino again in Black Ops 3 graphics.

  • Ak74u

Activision really gave last gen users the middle finger for giving them a crappy last gen version with no effort

  • Cabe Kase

Not going to lie, this is a bad deal.
