For the past month, there have been small rumors floating around about the possibility of Call of Duty: WWII coming to the Nintendo Switch. First rumors came to light when fans saw that Activision was allowing players to link their Nintendo account on Call of Duty’s website, with some additional rumors coming up because of Beenox’s recent tweets.

However, Activision has now officially stated to the Daily Star that Call of Duty: WWII will not be available on the Nintendo Switch.

“Call of Duty: WWII will not be coming to the Nintendo Switch.”

The last Call of Duty title to be available on any Nintendo platform was Call of Duty: Ghosts in 2013, which released on the Wii U. Activision has not released a Call of Duty game on Nintendo since then. As of now, the only Activision title available on Nintendo Switch is Skylanders Imaginators.

I doubt many of us have Switch anyway. I could be wrong though.

    • akaCamos

Maybe not you, but the Switch is exploding right now. It currently has sold an estimated 5 million in 3 1/2 months. Next years CoD HAS to be on Switch, or they lose a huge market. Tons of people including myself would love to play Treyarch’s next game anywhere.

      • GinsuVictim

I know it has sold a ton. I just meant among the CoD community it probably hasn’t sold as much.

        • BooBee

I already pre-ordered for PS4 and having the Switch I would have purchased a second copy just so I can play online while commuting home on my 2hr bus ride. Bummer but it’s cool.

          • TheCoolGuy

I don’t have a switch yet. But I do think cod portable would be good.

I bought a Switch for my youngest son, but I have to tell you, Zelda – Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are both incredibly fun games (as I would expect of most of their first party titles… 1:2 Switch is horrible though…. Mario Odyssey looks like it will be great too… ). As for COD coming to it, even if they did it, I would not buy it. For one, it’s going to look better on Xbox or PS. Two, even if I wanted it for the portability, the controllers aren’t designed for it. Three, the online capabilities suck for the Switch.

      • GinsuVictim

I can already play Zelda: BotW and Mario Kart on Wii U.

        • PDX Guitar Freak

yeah, to the point I think you are making, I would only recommend the Switch if you are interested in playing the first party titles and want to be able to leave the house with it (since it’s not hugely different than the WiiU other than the portability). If I didn’t have kids, I would not have bought it… but again, I’m enjoying it. Part of it is nostalgia… going back to when I was a teenager playing the original NES… and even further back as a little kid plunking quarters into Donkey Kong at the arcade 🙂

          • GinsuVictim

I have a MAME cabinet I built in my living room with over 7000 arcade games, and the complete collections of NES, SNES, and Genesis. 🙂
            That’s my nostalgia fix 🙂

          • PDX Guitar Freak

Dude, I’m jealous! I keep seeing ads for pre-built cabinets like that, but just can’t justify spending the $$$ … and I don’t have the technical knowledge to build one myself. I’ve always said that if I win the lottery, I will build a game room with 20 of my favorite stand-up arcade games from the early 80s, and pinball machines too (although I prefer pinball from the 90s on more).

          • GinsuVictim

Pinball is expensive. I’d love to have even one machine, but the floor space is something we don’t have right now, and the upkeep can be a nightmare. I know a guy who lost his home and arcade back in 2009. I only had the chance to visit once, a few months before the fire. Here’s the video:

          • PDX Guitar Freak

Oh man that is tragic… I’m hoping insurance covered the loss, but having to start from scratch again would be depressing not to mention challenging (I just have no idea how hard it is to find arcade games in good condition, but I assume tough). Thanks for sharing bro

          • GinsuVictim

The video states that he couldn’t get the place insured. Reason being it was in an industrial area and not zoned for residential living. He was in the process of trying to get it zoned properly so he could get it insured. The wiring in a light fixture in one of the bedrooms caused the fire.
We in the local arcade community held a fund raiser where we played games, cooked out, and watched UFC 101 projected on the side of the warehouse. I still have the T-shirt from that day.

    But what about PS2? ?

    • Jackson

Only 1vs1 quickscope lobbies will be available there due to hardware limitations. The ps2 modem can only handle connections up to 10mbps, so 6vs6 lobbies are not possible.

      • Smh. If i can’t get it on the GameCube i’m rioting.

        • Thanasishim

You can get on the Gamecube. However, due to hardware limitations, you can only 1v1 a bot with a shovel ,which is only found in supply drops!

    • Element115Will

I was waiting for it to come out on Snes.

      • Keith Volt

Personally I hope it comes out on the Atari

        • Michael Romo

I want to play it on my Intellivision

  • I really hope the next Treyarch title may be on Switch, there isn’t really any games I like for it at the moment apart from Mario Kart and another game so I’m not really looking to waste money on something I’ll hardly go on, I’d love to play COD campaign or something on the go.
That being said, I doubt they’d throw patch updates etc.. to it as they’ve never really done it before (which is kind of sad), ghosts and bo2 worked quite well on Wii U.

    • Michael Romo

Mario, Sonic, Kirby, Yoshi, and Metroid are all great games that will be coming soon to the Switch

  • ScOott

Anyone who purchased a Switch expecting 3rd party continued support is an eeediot.. pretty sure switch users didnt buy one to play CoD

    • hungryandrew

Just like the Wii U, Switch will get little to no 3rd party support. There’s a overly priced Street Fighter 2 game that’s over 25 years old.

In other news, water is wet
