In a new interview posted on the Daily Star, Michael Condrey has revealed that the team at Sledgehammer Games is in fact working on bringing a ‘thematically appropriate’ version of Uplink to Call of Duty: WWII MP.

Uplink was first introduced to Call of Duty in Sledgehammer Games’ Advanced Warfare, which had advanced movement. The challenge now is that Call of Duty: WWII MP is all boots on the ground.

“We haven’t announced all the modes we’re bringing to the game … we introduced Uplink in Advanced Warfare and we have a lot of heart for that.

So we’re looking to make that thematically appropriate for WW2. It’s something we’re still working on. There will be a much broader suite of modes.

The Uplink that we brought to life in Advanced Warfare was about fast movement, boost jump and clearly we don’t have those here.”

Condrey stated that team at SHG has a “lot of heart” for Uplink and are working on ways to see how to bring it back to Call of Duty: WWII’s style of play.

“We have a lot of heart for Uplink and we want to make it feel like it has a place in WW2.

More announcements to come on that but you can tell your readers and fans that we have a lot of heart to figure that out.”

I can’t see how they’ll do that, but best of luck to them. I hope they do it well.

  • GinsuVictim

Yeah, not sure how, but ok….I haven’t touched that mode since the original in AW, which I thought was the best version.

    • Charlie

How do you know its the best version if you haven’t touched the others?

      • GinsuVictim

I’ve tried them, didn’t care for them, haven’t touched them since. That’s what I meant.

The closest game mode to uplink is One Flag CTF. It was a playlist back in MW2 only available for PC. It’s very similar to uplink but for boots on the ground playstyle.

    • Harvasleo

I don’t want to be rude or anything but I’m an og playstation cod player and I’m pretty sure I have played one flag ctf before on ps.I think it was back in cod ghosts, not 100% sure though

      • Bryan Difo

uplink is basically like blitz from cod ghosts

      • TheCoolGuy

        It was bo2

    • bsktballmsu1

It was also on black ops 2 for a while in public matches for console. Now I think it is only private match

  • bsktballmsu1

How about we bring back blitz. It was probably the most exciting gamemode in cod esports as a viewer. I know competitive players didn’t like it too much but I think a lot of that had to deal with the game being cod ghosts. I think blitz and ctf are much better than uplink.

For what?! PC Players plays TDM only! 24/7
    That’s sucks…

    • That’s hardly any of the devs thought is it

    • Dante

So because 1 platform only plays TDM they can’t add more game modes?

    • Matthew Watts

Nobody plays CoD on PC. Its a console game for 99.9% of players.

  • QuickzZ-_-GhosT

Well imagine that the ball from uplink is now a case that contains info regarding the enemy and you gotta deliver it to your base lmao.

  • Harmeet Khosa

Maybe they could have something where the players pass and carry a bundle of grenades, and have to throw them into a small hole on top of a bunker. They could have an animation for removing the pins from the grenades and if someone pulls the pins and detonates outside the bunker, it resets and the grenade bundle reappears in the middle of the map. Could be kinda interesting.

  • I don’t understand how it’ll work without the advanced movement imo, unless the uplink is on top of a building which you can climb to on a ladder etc…

    • That could work quite well, forcing people to fight over a high point to get the ball. The only thing I didn’t enjoy about Uplink is when people got on a streak of scoring, instantly picking up the ball, scoring again, etc etc. Boots on ground would mean it’d take a lot more skill

thematically appropriate like women soldiers and no swastikas

  • TheAdversary

I’m still reeling over Condrey saying “multiples of” in regards to the weapons of WW2.

    • Why?

      • TheAdversary

Someone asked if there would be more than the 10 weapons shown off at E3, and Michael Condrey’s 2 word reply was “multiples of.” That implies the possibility of weapon variants. Comfrey deleted his tweet shortly after the fact, and one of the CoDtubers was trying to cover for it.

      • Matthew Watts

        Weapons variants u retard.

        • Since when is multiples of 10 confirmation of variants? You do know 20 is a multiple of 10 right, or don’t you know how to count?

  • GamerTag: Robustss

Just bring back CTF in all it’s glory. It suits Boots on the Ground so well MWR remastered didn’t have it only on weekends, and IW only had it in the ranked mode which noone played apart from to glitch.

  • Michael Romo

Or or OR…. just put in Capture the Flag since it’s essentially the same thing

    • Deborahlcrofoot

My paycheck for last month was 11000 dollarsfirm I discovered online and they paid me for it 95 bucks/each hour… And if i can do it so can you, try… I got that by working easy online jobs from comfort at home for few hours/a day that i got from it out here

  • Noble Gunhead

Do blitz but you must be carrying the “insert thing your carrying here” to score for 2 or throw it in for 1

  • Urban_Manc

I’m not a fan of uplink, I prefer to see a version of Team Defender as seen in MW3, it’s my all time favourite game mode.

Also a traditional headquarters would be welcome ?

  • W1LL1AM04

They should make you carry a pigskin football instead of a ball

  • basketball lmao

  • Guest

I’m really hoping for a version of the “fracture” mode from BO3.
