2019 Call of Duty World League Championship takes place August 16-18

Activision and MLG have officially announced that the 2019 Call of Duty World League Championship, presented by PlayStation 4 will take place August 16-18 in Los Angeles, CA.

The CWL Champs event will mark the end to the 2019 Call of Duty World League Season and the end of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 esports season.

CWL Champs will feature 32 teams competing for the $1.5 million prize pool. 16 teams have already secured their spots, as these were the Pro League teams that are currently competing in the league. The remaining 16 spots will be confirmed during the CWL Finals events on July 19-21 in Miami. 

The 2020 Call of Duty esports league system is expected to see major changes as Activision Blizzard looks to franchise the Call of Duty league, with five teams already confirmed to have purchased a spot in the league.
