Modern Warfare 2 players who purchased the $100 Vault Edition were left furious after Double XP Tokens were only given to those who bought it through another CoD title, but Activision have gone back on the decision, rewarding every Vault Edition owner with the XP.

Modern Warfare 2 has over 50 weapons to unlock and level up ahead of Warzone 2 on November 16, so players who purchased the Vault Edition were looking forward to using their 10 hours of Double XP to make the process quicker and easier.

However, many didn’t realize that the Double XP was an “in-game store exclusive reward,” so they would only get the 10 hours of Double XP Tokens if they bought the Vault Edition through another Call of Duty title such as Vanguard or Warzone — not their platform’s store.

Following a ton of backlash, Activision have u-turned on the decision, granting every Vault Edition owner 10 hours of Double XP and 10 hours of Double Weapon XP.

“We understand there has been some confusion about an in-game store exclusive reward for the Vault Edition,” tweeted the Call of Duty account on November 4. “Therefore, we have decided to reward all players that currently own or purchase any version of the MWII Vault Edition with 10 hours of Double XP Tokens and 10 hours of Double Weapon XP Tokens.”

They then clarified that any Vault Edition owner who hadn’t received the tokens already would receive them “over the next 48 hours.”

Players can also upgrade to the Vault Edition for $30 if they’re looking to get the Double XP and Task Force 141 Operators.

With Double XP Tokens not carrying over from Warzone, Vault Edition players should now find leveling up weapons and unlocking the Mastery Camos ahead of Warzone 2 a much quicker and easier process.
