2017’s WWII was the last CoD game to arrive on Steam, with Activision opting to use their own Battle.net launcher instead. Activision now have an official publisher page on Steam, meaning that more Activision games could arrive ahead of Modern Warfare 2.

If you’re a PC gamer, there’s an extremely high chance that you have Steam installed. Although it boasts a huge collection of games, publishers such as Activision and Ubisoft have switched to their own launchers or the Epic Games Store over the past few years.

Starting with 2018’s Black Ops 4, Call of Duty titles were exclusive to Battle.net, but that’s set to change with 2022’s Modern Warfare 2. It might not be the only one though, as Activision now have an official publisher page, and it has fans speculating about what it could mean for the future.

Call of Duty players were delighted to learn that Modern Warfare 2 will arrive on Steam when it launches on October 28, potentially showing the active player counts and opening the game to the modding community.

As spotted by Eurogamer, Activision now have an official publisher page on Steam. This has all of their Steam titles in one place, and players immediately started speculating what this could mean going forward.

In a Reddit thread discussing the news, players immediately called for the Tony Hawk games and Crash Bandicoot 4, which has reportedly had its leaked app ID updated several times over the past few weeks.

There’s every chance that the Call of Duty games that were missed (BO4, Modern Warfare, Cold War, and Vanguard) will make their way to Steam later as well, perhaps as part of the Microsoft acquisition.

Microsoft’s first-party games such as Halo Infinite are available on Steam, so once the deal goes through in 2023, we could see games such as Warzone, World of Warcraft, and Diablo make their way to Valve’s platform.
