Activision Blizzard is partnering with NICKMERCS to help expand his Warzone MFAM Gauntlet Tournament Series.

NICKMERCS kicked off the MFAM Gauntlet earlier this year alongside Call of Duty: Warzone’s launch to provide his followers a way to compete in online Warzone tournaments for money alongside prizes from his sponsors, and built a large community along the way thanks to the success of Warzone.

Now, as detailed by ESPN, Activision is partnering up with NICKMERCS to expand this tournament, including the prize pool. The company will provide promotional support for the tournament, alongside increasing the prize pool from $50,000 to $100,000 for the upcoming series.

The series, which has been operating monthly, will shift to four-week series with qualifiers and main event every week of the tournament.

The new tournament will begin with a qualifier on 3PM ET on Monday, July 13. The main event for Week 1 will be on July 15 at 4PM ET. Activision is also adding in a pre-show event called The Armory. The entire event will be live on Twitch here.

In addition, ESPN reports that NICKMERCS will use this tournament series to raise more awareness and ask for donations to help support the Call of Duty Endowment Charity, which helps veterans find jobs.

Activision has been supportive of Warzone events hosted by the community through providing promotional support with their #LiveFromWarzone marketing initiative. They included MFAM tournament as part of their weekly schedule for Warzone events. Now, the company is expanding to provide money support as well as broadcast help with the MFAM Gauntlet event.

5 best AR loadouts for Warzone Season 1

Assault Rifles are great all-rounders in CoD Warzone, so here are the top AR’s to bring to Verdansk and Rebirth Island.

Published

Assault Rifles are a staple in Call of Duty. Capable of dealing damage at almost any range, they’re the go-to for the majority of players. They’re especially prominent in Warzone for their versatility, and through the Gunsmith system, you can build them any way you like.

With every season and update, Warzone’s meta shifts. We’ve seen the Grau 5.56 and the Kilo 141 as the best choice, but that’s no longer the case. Now that the controversial DMR 14 has been nerfed, ARs are retaking their place in most players’ loadouts.

Here are the five best Assault Rifles to use in Verdansk and Rebirth Island in Warzone Season 1.

5. M4A1

Warzone M4A1

While never quite being the meta weapon in Warzone, Modern Warfare’s M4A1 has always been a great choice. With minimal recoil and a solid damage output, the M4 has been a viable choice in any META. It’s best suited for mid-range, so it’s best to pair it with a sniper rifle.

Plus, Modern Warfare’s M4 looks great.

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: Stock M16 Grenadier
  • Optic: Corp Combat Holo Sight
  • Grip: Commando Foregrip
  • Ammunition: 60 Round Mags

4. Krig 6

With decent damage and manageable recoil, the Krig 6 is the best Black Ops Cold War Assault Rifle for medium-long range.

Warzone Krig-6

Players will find similarities with the Kilo 141 when using it, so if you’re looking for a new AR, you can’t go wrong with the Krig.

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Barrel: 19.7″ Ranger
  • Optic: Microflex LED
  • Grip: Field Agent Foregrip
  • Ammunition: STANAG 60 Rnd

3. Kilo 141

The Kilo 141 was the meta weapon in Modern Warfare Season 5 and although it has received a nerf, it remains one of the best weapons in Warzone Season 1.

Although it’s a little bit more bouncy than you may remember, it is still one of the strongest ARs in Warzone.

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: Singuard Arms 19.8″ Prowler
  • Optic: VLK 3.0x Optic
  • Grip: Commando Foregrip
  • Ammunition: 60 Round Mags

2. FFAR

Warzone FFAR

Some Warzone players prefer a fast-firing Assault Rifle to pair with a sniper rifle, and the FFAR is the perfect choice.

With a rapid fire rate, this rifle will melt a player’s armor as fast as any SMG. It has some kick so use it in close-medium range and you’ll be using one of Warzone’s best weapons.

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Barrel: 21.2″ Ranger
  • Grip: Bruiser Grip
  • Ammunition: STANAG 50 Rnd
  • Rear Grip: SASR Jungle Grip

1. CR-56 AMAX

While the Kilo 141 was the meta, the CR-56 AMAX silently dominated. Now both the Kilo and DMR have been taken off their pedestals, the AMAX has climbed to the top.

Modern Warfare AMAX in-game

With an easy to learn recoil pattern and high damage, the AMAX is the best choice for any player in any playstyle. If you can find a surface to mount it on, you’ll be wiping teams in the blink of an eye.

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: XRK Zodiac S440
  • Optic: VLK 3.0x Optic
  • Grip: 45 Round Mags
  • Ammunition: 45 Round Mags

Bring any of these ARs into Verdansk and Rebirth Island in Warzone Season 1, and you’ll find yourself using some of the best weapons in Call of Duty’s Battle Royale.

Black Ops Cold War players frustrated with Warzone-exclusive Operator challenges

Black Ops Cold War players are growing frustrated with the game’s Operator Challenges, some of which force them to play Warzone.

Some of Black Ops Cold War’s Operators have challenges that require you to play Warzone to unlock camos and this is frustrating its fanbase.

The crossover between BOCW and Warzone added a whole wealth of new content for Warzone players including a lot of new guns to play with. This greatly bolstered the Battle Royale experience and changed the dynamics of the game’s meta.

On the other side of things, it seems that both games are not being considered as separate games. Operators in Black Ops Cold War have specific challenges that require you to play Warzone in order to complete. Given that some people don’t like Warzone, they feel like they’re being shortchanged.

Warzone exclusive Operator Challenges for BOCW

Both games are currently active alongside one another. This is clearly evident in the respective game’s home screens as you can seamlessly switch between them.

This is supposed to promote unity and allow greater accessibility between Activision Blizzard‘s Call of Duty titles. However, fans are growing tired of the notion that they are very much linked with each other instead of being treated as individual experiences.

The official Black Ops Cold War subreddit has a popular thread showcasing the dismay of many of the game’s players. Reddit user Snatisfaction posted their dissatisfaction for all to see. People with similar views agreed in droves.

“Ah, getting my full £50 worth that I spent on purchasing the game to receive content that’s actually telling me to play a different game. Nice mentality.”

The reoccurring complaint is that lots of people have paid a lot of money to play Black Ops Cold War. But to gain access to the content they have rightly paid for, they’re being forced to play another game – a free one at that – to get their content.

Some people will argue that these challenges are entirely optional. But others will argue will that this is irrelevant and shouldn’t be a thing in the first place.

It’ll be in the hands of the devs as to whether or not they decide to change this and have separate challenges for each game. But if the negativity continues to rise and spread, then they may be forced to take action.

Best perks to use in Call of Duty: Warzone

Every CoD loadout needs the best perks to match, so here are the best perks to use in Warzone Season 1’s Verdansk and Rebirth Island.

Published

on

A CoD loadout is nothing without the upgrades to match, so here are the best perks to give you a competitive edge in any Warzone game mode.

While Warzone is now a standalone game, it is still connected to Modern Warfare. It uses its engine, menus, movement system, and perks. In Warzone Season 1, none of the perks from Black Ops Cold War can be used, so you must equip Modern Warfare’s.

Here are the best perks to use in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1.

Perk 1

CoD Warzone EOD perk

E.O.D

E.O.D reduces explosive damage taken, which makes it a vital Perk in Call of Duty: Warzone. If you’re stuck in a room with players outside, expect a barrage of Semtex and Frag Grenades coming at you. If you have any hope of surviving, you need to have E.O.D equipped.

As long as you have a sliver of armor left, you can survive any explosive other than a direct hit, so keep putting on plates and you’ll be invulnerable.

Double Time

Double Time allows you to Tactical Sprint for longer, as well as crouch walk faster. Mobility is key for pushing enemies and avoiding the closing circle of gas.

In solos, you need to be the first person in the next zone and Double Time will allow you to quickly move around the map without a vehicle revealing your location. The increased crouch walk speed also gives you high mobility while sneaking up on enemies.

Perk 2

CoD Warzone Overkill perk

Overkill

With Verdansk having both long lines of sight and close-quarters combat, most players bring both a long-range and up-close weapon in their loadout. The Warzone meta following the DMR nerf is a Kar98k paired with either an FFAR or MAC-10.

Use Overkill to get both weapons in your first loadout for effectiveness at all ranges, then take either Ghost or Restock from your next loadout crate and you’ll have the best of both worlds.

Ghost

Ghost is probably the most used perk in Warzone. With UAV’s constantly being popped, and almost every player running a heartbeat sensor, keeping yourself off the radar is vital.

You can sneak up on teams and make a quick getaway if you’re in a tight spot. Or, if you’re a building camper (no judgments here), listen to your enemy’s rage in the death chatter as you take them by surprise.

Restock

CoD Warzone Restock perk

Restock is only useful if you’re an extremely confident, aggressive player. If you’re driving around the map taking out bounty target after bounty target, Restock is a must-pick. Starting a fight with a well-placed Stun Grenade will almost always give you the kill, and Restock allows you to get your equipment back every 50 seconds.

You’ll lose out on the Ghost perk, but if you’re driving at enemies to take them out as quickly as possible, then Ghost really won’t be necessary.

Perk 3

Amped

As Gaz said in Call of Duty 4, “switching to your pistol is always faster than reloading.” This remains true in Warzone over a decade later, and the Amped perk makes this all the more effective.

There’s nothing worse than running out of ammo and watching helplessly as you’re taken out while either switching weapons or reloading. Amped allows you to almost instantly swap weapons so you can keep shooting with minimal delay.

Tracker

CoD Warzone Tracker perk

This perk is especially effective in solo matches, where you’ll usually only be focusing on a single player at a time. This perk allows you to see the enemy’s footsteps so you know if someone has been nearby recently. With how slow and tactical solo matches can be, you’ll be surprised how many times it will save your skin.

Best perks for Warzone solos

Warzone solos is almost an entirely different game from squads, where you must quickly rotate into new zones and know where enemy players are in order to survive. Here are the best perks to get that solo victory.

  1. Double Time
  2. Ghost
  3. Tracker

Best perks for Warzone squads (duos/trios/quads)

In Warzone quads, you’ll be fighting multiple enemies at once so you’ll need E.O.D to survive multiple explosions and Amped to avoid reloading mid-fight.

  1. E.O.D
  2. Overkill then Ghost
  3. Amped

Run these perks along with the meta weapons, and you’ll be putting yourself at a significant advantage in both Verdansk and Rebirth Island.
