Call of Duty: WWII has earned over $1 billion in global sales, best selling CoD game on current-gen consoles
Activision Publishing Inc. announced this morning that Call of Duty: WWII was the #1 selling console video game in North America in 2017, with the title surpassing over $1 billion in sell through revenue since the game launched on November 3.
As announced last week, Call of Duty is now the #1 selling game in North America for nine years in a row. Activision also says that Call of Duty: WWII is the best selling Call of Duty game on current generation consoles, beating out Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
Activision also says that Call of Duty: WWII set a new Activision record as the biggest console digital launch in history for the company.
“Call of Duty: WWII is the #1 top grossing console game of the year in North America, and Destiny 2 is #2,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision. “That means Call of Duty has been the #1 top grossing console gaming franchise in North America for a staggering nine years in a row, and worldwide eight out of the last nine years. Thank you to our players for your incredible passion and engagement. And thank you to our talented, committed teams all across the globe that make incredible results like this happen.”
