What type is Clodsire in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
While the original Wooper introduced in Gen 2 is a dual Water and Ground-type Pokemon, Paldean Wooper is a Poison and Ground-type Pokemon, as is Clodsire. This means Clodsire is immune to Electric-type attacks and resistant to five different types of moves, making it a formidable opponent.
Whether you’re trying to catch a Clodsire or battling other trainers with this distinctive Pokemon on their teams, you’ll need a strategy that takes into account its resistances, weaknesses, and immunities.
All Clodsire Weaknesses in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
As a dual Poison and Ground-type Pokemon, Clodsire is weak against these attack types in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet:
- Ground
- Water
- Psychic
- Ice
But don’t go fight a Clodsire just yet, because there are other important things to consider. While those four attack types are equally effective against Clodsire, the Poison and Ground-type Pokemon might have the Water Absorb Ability. In that case, you should avoid any Water-type attacks since they won’t just be useless, but they’ll also regenerate Clodsire’s HP.
It’s also important to note that Clodsire could know a second ability, Poison Point. This ability gives the Pokemon a 30% chance of poisoning any opponent that lands a physical attack on them, so you should try to avoid those as well.
During the first Elite Four battle, Rika will Terastallize her Clodsire, and it’ll become a Ground-type Pokemon.
All Clodsire Resistances in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Clodsire is resistant to the following attack types in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet:
- Fighting
- Poison
- Rock
- Bug
- Fairy
It’s better to avoid these types of moves since they won’t have much effect on Clodsire. As we mentioned before, this regional variation is also immune to Electric-type attacks, so there’s no point in even considering them.
When Clodsire Terastallizes, it becomes resistant to Poison and Rock-type attacks, so keep that in mind when facing Rika.
With all that information, you’re more than ready to battle and catch any Clodsire in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. If you’re considering adding one to your team, you must know its stats aren’t as enticing as its list of resistances, so it won’t become your main attacker, but maybe a support Pokemon that can stall enemies and bait Water-type Pokemon.
