The content train keeps chugging along in CoD: Cold War as Season 5’s roadmap has revealed the next maps in Treyarch’s shooter.
Call of Duty has a history of creating incredible multiplayer maps that stand the test of time. CoD 4 had classics like Crash and Strike, MW2 had Terminal and Rust, and Black Ops II had Raid.
The latter is one of a few maps that have made a comeback in Black Ops Cold War for players both old and new to enjoy. Treyarch has made it a mission to ensure that players have a healthy fix of nostalgia with the 80s shooter, and Season 5 looks to embrace that, and add new life as well.
Including maps at launch and the presumed mid-season Reloaded update, Cold War Season 5 will add five new maps across the game.
We have information on all of them, thanks to the Treyarch Cold War blog, including what to expect from them, and when they will drop.
Echelon (6v6, Launch)
“In this brand-new map seen in the Season Five intro cinematic, you’ll need to keep your ear to the ground if you want to leave this listening station alive.
Set at Teufelsberg – also known as “Devil’s Mountain” – in Berlin, Echelon sees Operators fighting through the rain and ash in the aftermath of Perseus’ latest operation. From either infiltration point, you’ll fight to control the central control room inside the main dome, a natural hotbed for combat that gets even hotter in objective game modes.
This NATO compound was partially blown to pieces during the attack, so mind the gaps in the roofs unless you’re planning to plunge onto the plateau below.
Slums (6v6, Launch)
Take to the streets and fight through this tight three-lane vintage map, which rounds out the three Multiplayer maps available at Season Five’s launch.
First introduced in Call of Duty®: Black Ops II, Slums is set deep within Panama City, where a town square featuring a central fountain invites long-range combat across lanes and plenty of aerial Scorestreak bombardments.
A variety of combat tactics can work here, as always… just be mindful of the sightlines into the parking lot and laundromat at the ends of this classic locale.
Showroom (2v2 and 3v3, Launch)
All sales are final in this small-scale map built for Gunfight and Face-Off variants. Showroom is set in the cordoned off Stacks emporium within the long-abandoned mall in New Jersey, The Pines.
On this map, expect to have fast fights over and around various displays and kiosks, which provide a unique aesthetic and map structure compared to the other smaller maps in Black Ops Cold War.
Gunfight Tournament fans can expect Showroom to have a big summer blowout later this season as the marquee location of a future tournament.
Drive-In (6v6, In-Season)
Shortly after the Season Five launch window, get your popcorn ready for the return of Drive-In, a cult classic from the original Black Ops, set in a movie drive-in out in an abandoned midwestern United States ghost town.
Remastered for the first time in honor of its 10-year anniversary as part of the Black Ops Annihilation Map Pack, Drive-In features close-quarters fights and powerful overwatch points, particularly around the big screen of the Galactic Drive-In, where snipers and other long-range weapons can shine.
Be sure to tread lightly through the mostly barren parking lot if enemies take up the big screen or the red building on the opposite side, using the alleyway flank routes to drop bad guys with a Finishing Move worthy of an action hero.
Zoo (6v6, In-Season)
Rounding out Season Five’s trio of classic maps is another post-launch theater of battle: the intense 6v6 incarnation of Zoo from the original Black Ops, arriving later in the season.
There’s no cage that can hold you as you fight through bear pits and aquariums in Zoo, whose original version was part of Black Ops’ second DLC pack Escalation. Be sure to take a “ride” on the monorail to get an incredible vantage point on the action below, or head to the souvenir shop to dole out plenty of free pain to your enemies.”

How to Prestige in Black Ops Cold War: Prestige Keys, Rewards, more
Prestige Keys are rewards in the Black Ops Cold War progression system for leveling up. Here is how to Prestige, unlock Keys, and use them.
The Prestige system in Black Ops Cold War rewards players with Prestige Keys for leveling up to unlock exclusive blueprints in Season 5. This guide will show you how to Prestige and earn keys.
Treyarch took a different approach to Call of Duty this year with its Prestige system. Usually, once you reach the max Military Rank, you earn your first CoD Prestige. In previous games, this would result in your entire loadout and level being reset, whereas this is not quite the case in Black Ops Cold War.
Cold War Season 5 brings more Prestige milestones, challenges, and rewards. One reward is for reaching a new Prestige rank is a shiny Prestige Key to unlock new icons.
Here is everything that you need to know about using how to unlock Prestige Keys and use them in Black Ops Cold War. Also, check out the fastest ways to level up too!

How to Prestige in Black Ops Cold War
Prestiging is the most notable way of informing the player that they are progressing in the game. It means you’re ascending through the levels, which means you’re unlocking items in the Battle Pass, obtaining new blueprints, attachments, perks, equipment, and presumably acquiring Prestige Keys.
The only way to earn these rewards is to play through Treyarch‘s Black Ops Cold War and Prestige. To do so, you must reach level 55 and then Prestige. This will earn you a Prestige Key, and you can now go through and reach Season Ranks, with every 50 earning you a new Prestige Key.
Every time you reach a new Prestige Rank, the game will give you a new sticker, emblem, and a Prestige Key. You get these as rewards after passing through every 50 Season Levels. Other rewards include exclusive weapon blueprints and Battle Pass Tier Skips for the Battle Pass.
For a more detailed look at how the Prestige System works, you can look here.
How to Use Prestige Keys
Once you’ve got a Prestige Key in your hands, you may be wondering how you can use it. Its purpose is to unlock Legacy Prestige Icons when you use them at the Prestige Shop. These icons will be from the previous Call Of Duty games, and you can add them when you reach Prestige Master.
Thanks to a new update, Treyarch has graciously included every single Prestige Emblem from all previous Call of Duty games. Going all the way back to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, to 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot.
Whether it’s the classic Gold Cross, 10th Prestige Icon from Call of Duty 4, or Black Ops IIII’s glowing-eyed Samurais, there is now a wealth of possibilities for you to pick from.
You can keep earning XP up to level 1000 and then get milestone rewards after crossing 50 levels. This means you can get 20 milestones when the season resets.
Prestige Shop rewards
In addition to the usual calling cards and emblems available in the Prestige Shop since it was first released, the Season 5 Reloaded for Black Ops Cold War has also added a new batch of content for players to purchase with their keys, including exclusive weapon blueprints.
There are four Prestige Blueprints in Cold War Season 5:
- Hidden Terror – ZRG 20mm
- Dream Crasher – Magnum
- Dark Horse – MP5
- Confrontation – Krig 6
There’s still plenty of time for players to level up and acquire new Prestige Keys before Season 5 makes its inevitable transition into Season 6.

When does Black Ops Cold War Season 6 start? Date, time, new maps, new guns, new Zombies map
Black Ops Cold War is gearing up for a Season 6 to bring to players. Here’s what we know about its start date, maps, guns, and more.
Treyarch has confirmed that Black Ops Cold War is set to enter a sixth season, and this is everything we know so far including its date, maps, guns, and more.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has had quite the journey since its November 13, 2020 release date. After only launching with eight 6v6 maps, one round-based Zombies mode, and a handful of Fireteam maps, the game has evolved superbly.
With the Cold War Season 5 Reloaded update, the game added its 23rd 6v6 map in Zoo, more content for Outbreak, and other cool stuff. Treyarch has endeavored to make Cold War a memorable game, and no one can argue that it’s lacking content.
Despite this, Call of Duty: Vanguard is now swiftly closing in, and even though Cold War is set to be the most content-rich CoD game after a new release, the community might need to accept that Season 6 could be the last full update.
Black Ops Cold War Season 6 release date & time
The pass is due to expire on October 6, so unless another weird delay intervenes, then we’d expect Black Ops Cold War Season 6 to commence on October 7. It’s expected the Season 6 update would drop at 9PM PT / 11PM CT / 5AM BST.
Black Ops Cold War Season 6 artwork potentially leaked
The Season reveal image is always a big telltale sign of what is to come in the next step of the game’s story and shows off the main Operator for the Season too.
Thanks to PlayStation Game Size, we may have been given an early glimpse at the new Operator and an idea of what they’ll be doing.
The Cold War Season 5 cinematic outro video hinted that someone could be brought in to try and help Adler after his exposure to the Numbers program.
It appears like Black Ops favorite Alex Mason is the answer. Alex had starring roles in Black Ops I and Black Ops II and is sure to be the character of choice for many if this leak turns out to be accurate.
Black Ops Cold War Season 6 new maps
Treyarch has done well to maintain a consistent stream of content across all of Cold War’s major game modes.
We would expect a late flourish of two or three new maps, both 6v6, and Gunfight, to go with the Season 5 additions of Slums, Drive-In, and Zoo.
Black Ops Cold War Season 6 new guns
The meta has been quite reasonable, and there will almost certainly be one or two main guns to come to add to the likes of the EM2, and maybe a new melee weapon as well.
Black Ops Cold War Season 6 new round-based Zombies map
Treyarch has confirmed “the finale of the Black Ops Cold War saga in next season’s round-based map.” So as we get closer to the end of Season 5 we expect to have one or two cheeky details revealed to give us an idea of the send-off Zombies map for Cold War.
The Zombies story is also set to continue into Call of Duty: Vanguard too as Treyarch will be exclusively working on the game’s Zombies content, and it will progress the Aether story.
Black Ops Cold War Season 6 new game modes & more
One thing that has made Black Ops Cold War so engaging to play has been the huge array of fresh playlist options on offer.
Season 5 has debuted Double Agent mode, and even the Reloaded update has brought back the classic Call of Duty game mode – Demolition. We wouldn’t be surprised to see one more cheeky surprise up Treyarch’s sleeves. There’s always a cool game mode variant to be enjoyed – as Vanguard has proven with its new Patrol mode.
It’s still quite soon after the launch of Black Ops Cold War Season 5 Reloaded, so there isn’t too much known or rumored about Season 6 just yet. When details start to creep through, we’ll be the first to let you know!
