Apex Legends dev confirms hints at new weapons over popular Titanfall 2 SMG

Apex Legends fans will be disappointed to learn that an old Titanfall 2 SMG won’t be returning, but a dev has said “cool stuff” is coming.

A Respawn Entertainment dev has hinted at some exciting weapons coming in the future for Apex Legends but shut down any rumors of the Titanfall 2 C.A.R. SMG returning.

It’s no secret that Apex Legends is a spiritual sequel to Titanfall 2 as it’s set in the same universe and shares many of the same traits. This has led to repeated speculation regarding a potential crossover of Titanfall content in Apex Legends.

This idea has sadly been dismissed with one of the game’s devs saying, “Haha sorry nothing planned in the immediate future.” He didn’t dismiss the idea entirely – leaving it up in the air for the future – but he was keen on some new weapons the team is working on.

The C.A.R. news will be a bit of a kicker for fans who were hoping to see it make an appearance in the near future. Daniel Zenon Klein is the Lead Game Designer for Respawn and after he had to break the hearts of C.A.R. fans, he did say: “There sure are some CAR fans here at Respawn as well though.”

It’s not a certainty that the weapon will return, but given that it’s still loved internally, there still may be hope.

New weapons coming to Apex Legends

We can definitely expect to see some exciting new weapons coming to Apex Legends at some point. Daniel said, “You know it’s a good sign when the playtest is over and you wished it wasn’t. We’ve got some amazing stuff cooking.”

He also elaborated further; “I think you’ll like what the weapons team is making. Some very cool stuff.” The only slight caveat is that these new toys won’t be available for some time.

Daniel clarified the timeframe they look at when playtesting new stuff for Apex Legends. He explained, “We are currently playtesting things that won’t ship until Season 13/14. So, uh, more than 2 seasons. Gamedev takes a LOT of time.”

It’s positive that Respawn has plenty of content backed up to bring to Apex, and this should be welcome news for fans of the game.

Apex Legends players can still enjoy Season 8 in the meantime and find out how to best master Fuse and the best landing spots.

Apex Legends War Games Second Chance mode explained

The first event in the Apex Legends War Games event is now live: Second Chance. Here’s everything you need to know.

Published

apex legends war games second chance

Apex Legends new mini event War Games has just released on all platforms until April 27th. In this guide we will take you through everything there is to know about the first mode.

The first mode of the new War Games takeover is called Second Chance, where Legends can redeploy above the location they were first eliminated.

This game mode shares similarities to Call of Duty: War Zone’s Rebirth, except in Second Chance players can only respawn once.

Second Chance

In Second Chance, players can use a Respawn Token to come back into the game 15 seconds after being eliminated. The player can retain their tokens by getting revived.

When you come back, not only do you land with your loot intact, you also come back with the same ultimate charge. This means if you died while your ultimate was available, you could drop and instantly use your ultimate ability.

This useful to know for when you are trying to get banners back or fight enemies with your teammates when you land after using up your respawn token.

Once a player uses their token, ammo and heals are dropped where they died. However, as players keep their loot, you will only be able to loot someone’s box after they’re eliminated twice.

The heals and ammo are dropped depending on what loadout the player who died had. If they had an energy and light weapon, this is the ammo type they will drop.

Some badges will not be available during this mode and those include:

  • Wrath, 4,000 damage badge
  • Wake, 20 kill badge
  • Assassin, 4 tier badge for 100 games with 5 or more kills

As more players respawn in this mode, the aforementioned badges would be too easy to achieve, which is why they’re disabled.

The next mode scheduled in the event is Ultra Zones, which starts on Thursday, April 15th. Check out the modifier schedule here.

Apex Legends: best team comps for Ranked in Season 8

This guide will showcase some of the best team comps for ranked Apex Legends Season 8, based on your playstyle.

Apex Legends best team comps

Here are the best team compositions for Apex Legends Ranked Leagues Season 8 to help suit you and your teammates playstyle.

Team composition in Ranked Leagues is extremely important, especially when you want to have a certain playstyle. In this guide we’ll be looking at four different team comps: fast rotation, slow rotation, ultra attacking, and ultra-defensive.

best team comps for Apex Legends Ranked Leagues

Fast rotation: Gibraltar, Octane, and Bloodhound

This team composition allows players to rotate fast, leave you landing POI early and gain a better position in the circle. Gibraltar provides great protection on rotation with the Dome of Protection, and of course, Octane provides the fast rotation with the Launch Pad.

Bloodhound compliments this team nicely. If you’re rotating fast, his Eye of the Allfather tactical will allow you and your team to see where the enemies are around you. Bloodhound is especially good for late-game, as knowing where is safe or where the enemies are is important for positioning and setting yourself up for victory.

Slow Rotation: Gibraltar, Bangalore, and Wraith

The slow rotation comp is best for teams who want to take their time looting, playing the edge of the circle, and edging towards victory.

This team comp is perfect for landing at edge locations, like Orbital Cannon on Olympus. This is because both Gibraltar and Bangalore can provide the team with great protection even without the best position in the circle. Bangalore’s smoke can be used in a variety of ways, covering yourself or covering an enemy team’s line of sight on you.

Bangalore’s Smoke Launcher combined with Gibraltar’s dome can keep your team alive in the worst of positions, not to mention their ultimates. These two both have similar area of damage ultimates, as both Bangalore’s Rolling Thunder and Gibraltar’s Defensive Bombardment can be used for crown control while maintaining positions.

Lastly, Wraith completes this team comp, giving the squad an attacking dimension to ward of enemies, while also using her Dimensional Rift to help rotation. When you rotate slow and play the edge of the circle, Wraith’s portal can act as a very effective rotation technique to prevent you and your team running into a bad situation on the way.

Ultra Attacking: Horizon, Pathfinder, and Wraith

This team comp is for those who have a less defensive playstyle and a more attacking mindset. All the Legends on this team thrive on fast pushes and a joint attacking effort.

Horizon allows the team to gain a height advantage, taking the high-ground and dominating teams below. Her ultimate also offers a strong crown control option for either an attacking push, trapping enemies while doing damage to them, or an escape, preventing an aggressive team from pushing to allow your team to stay alive.

Pathfinder is another great mobility option for this team, gaining different angles and being able to keep up with Horizon by gaining high-ground. Further, as Pathfinder is also a survey character, this allows the team to have the advantage of knowing the next circle.

Scanning the circle will be vital for an attacking team comp, as more knowledge on where you will need to rotate means you can pick better fights and not get sandwiched.

Wraith, once again, completes the team here but in this case, it’s not for her portal, but more for her tactical. Wraith’s tactical, Into the Void, prevents her from taking damage for a short period of time. This will essentially allow her to stay alive longer and sustain fights much more than any other Legend. This will allow Pathfinder and Horizon to gain different angles and not worry too much about protecting Wraith.

Ultra Defensive: Caustic, Wattson, and Lifeline

For teams who want a more defensive edge, this team comp is the best for you. All the Legends on this team provide a great defensive line that will allow you and your teammates to hold down positions and stay alive while fighting enemies.

Caustic will be the anchor of this team, setting up his traps in good positions acting as a hub for the squad. Wattson combines so well with Caustic, setting up fences on doors to scare aggressive teams from pushing your position. Even if they do manage to get through the fences, Caustic’s gas will act as a further defense.

Wattson’s ultimate ability, Interception Pylon, is a great defensive ultimate that will prevent a variety of incoming ordnance, as well as repairing the team’s shields.

This ultimate will also stop Gibraltar’s Defensive Bombardment, Bangalore’s Rolling Thunder, Fuse’s Motherlode, and also Caustic’s Nox Gas Grenade so use the pylon wisely. Make sure your Caustic and Wattson are coordinated, as Wattson’s pylon can also prevent Caustic from putting down his gas traps.

Lastly, Lifeline will keep your team healed and if someone goes down, she will get them up in no time. Combined with Wattson, your team will be good on shields and health creating a great defensive team.

Apex Legends devs announce commitment to fixing major server issues

The issue of server and net code problems has consistently caused problems for Apex Legends. However, a new dev blog is on the way.

apex legends net code server issues

Apex Legends has had ongoing problems with server and net code issues. However, it does seem that they are trying their best to communicate with the community and plan improvements.

Over the last two years, Apex Legends players have experienced severe server and net code issues that many have complained about since release.

Of course, these issues are extremely complicated and won’t be fixed overnight. However, more communication between the developers and the community could bring light and positivity to the manner, allowing a better understanding of the ongoing issues.

Apex Legends server locations

Apex Legends director of communications, Ryan K. Rigney (@RKRigney on Twitter), revealed that he had been working with the Apex engineers to create a new developer blog concerning, “servers, net code, and tickrate.”

We have seen similar dev blog posts in the past concerning patch notes, future updates, and the most recent video with Jason McCord concerning Apex Legends hackers and cheaters.

This new dev blog is said to be coming out in two weeks and will attempt to acknowledge and explain the “biggest issues” concerning servers, net code, and tick rate, as well as “exploring recent/upcoming improvements.”

Ryan Rigney says he is expecting a mixed reaction, mainly because he knows players want overnight fixes for all Apex Legends server issues – which aren’t possible. The dev blog won’t promise “revolutionary changes immediately,” but it will allow better insight and communication with the community.

Pro Apex Legends player, NRG Rogue, responded to his tweets, essentially stating that it will not satisfy the community of the “14-24-year-old Apex Legends market.”

Just like Rogue, who says he is not “too techy” in understanding such issues, the majority of the community are likely to be similar. The information offered may be overlooked, or not fully understood.

Either way, more communication between the devs and engineers for Apex Legends can hardly be negative, so we look forward to seeing the information provided.
