L-Star will be changed in Apex Legends Season 9

In response to the less-than stellar reception of the L-STAR Energy LMG in Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment are looking to buff the weapon for the upcoming Season 9.

The L-STAR is an Energy LMG in Apex Legends that functions with an ‘overload’ mechanic. This means that rather than having a standard magazine, it makes use of weapon stacks at the cost of having to cool the weapon down after a bit.

While this makes the weapon incredibly useful during the early parts of the match, many players often opt to switch to another weapon afterwards. As a result, Respawn Entertainment have decided to work on the gun for Season 9.

L-STAR in Apex Legends

Apex Legends players have been petitioning to give the L-STAR some base ammo. This is because if someone steals your ammo stacks, then you’ll be left completely defenseless in the midst of battle.

While Respawn aren’t currently planning to add that, they’ve reassured fans that they’re working on some major L-STAR changes for Season 9, and these will arrive with the new content in the Legacy update.

“It’s not a problem every time because guns have their ammo spawn next to them, but it definitely is too common that you get one with 0 ammo and can’t use it,” wrote developer David Bocek.

Bocek feels that adding flat ammo for the weapon will result in players abusing it to farm energy ammo. So instead, they have a different solution planned that “has some weirdness” and “has the potential for lots of bugs.”

While he didn’t give too much detail about what this big change will be, he made it clear that they’ve already got some initial work done, but it wasn’t ready for the next season launch.

The L-STAR has been buffed recently as well. Hopefully, the new changes will get rid of the problems plaguing the weapon.
