Apex Legends dev discusses tuning Octane’s Launch Pad

A developer for Apex Legends has made it clear that Respawn is considering giving a buff to Octane’s ultimate ability.

Octane is a Legend that you can use to launch across the Apex Legends map quickly. Now his Launch Pad ultimate might get buff in a future update, as discussed by an Apex developer.

Apex Legends Season 7 is well underway, and we’re excited to see what the devs will work on next. Respawn Entertainment devs are working on multiple seasons in advance, which means that they have some major surprises planned for fans in the future.

An upcoming patch will change how Octane interacts with the Launch Pad, so your launch will change depending on how you approach the pad – running or sliding, for example. A fan asked if this change will affect Octane’s mid-air accuracy, and a Respawn dev replied.

Will Octane’s Launch Pad ultimate get a buff?

Lead Game Designer Daniel Z. Klein was answering fans’ questions about Octane’s jump pad on Twitter when he was asked if there are tweaks being made to his mid-air accuracy.

Klein made it clear that they’re probably not going to change it, and that he feels that the mechanic works fine.

“I don’t think we’re touching that,” he said. “And I in fact do think it’s a good mechanic– I think he should maybe always have this? Regardless of whether he’s sliding into it or not? It positions the jump pad as a more offensive tool.”

You can check out the full thread of tweets below:

Getting offensive with Octane’s Launch Pad

While jumping off the Launch Pad can throw you straight into the action, it’s not going to guarantee you a lot of accuracy when shooting while mid-air. You can only achieve this by sliding into the platform instead of using it normally.

Apex players can take advantage of this mechanic to land some great hits after launching themselves, and maybe even get some kills before they land on the ground. It takes a bit of practice to get it right, but once you learn it, then it will feel extremely satisfying.

The developers could alter the mechanic so that you no longer need to slide into the Launch Pad in order to make it work. If they tweak it, then you could achieve 100% mid-air accuracy by having Octane perform different interactions with the platform.

Octane in Apex Legends

This buff would give you more options in terms of using the Legend’s ultimate. You can launch yourself into the sky and make it difficult for enemies to hit you, while you start chipping away at their health before touching the ground.

You can also get yourself out of danger, and make your way across Olympus with haste with the help of this mechanic. Hopefully, we’ll see some kind of change that expands these possibilities soon. So far Respawn devs haven’t confirmed anything, but we’ll be sure to update you if they do.

Apex Legends Season 10: Emergence weapon tier list

Apex Legends Season 10: Emergency has brought a heap of changes in the patch notes, some of which have influenced a new Apex Legends weapon tier list.

apex legends weapon tier list

Apex Legends players have had plenty of time with the new content in Season 10: Emergence, and just like any season, the changes in the recent patch notes have definitely influenced the weapon meta. Let’s get into it and see which weapons are at the top of the Apex Legends weapon tier list.

The Apex Legends Season 10: Emergence update has seen players experience various changes to the weapons and Legends.

As well as a whole new Recon Legend called Seer joining the fight, Respawn has also introduced buffs and nerfs to the weapons, which, of course, have once again shifted the meta.

apex legends rampage LMG

As it’s a new season, we thought it would be helpful to compose a tier list for all the weapons in Emergence, as well as the best weapons in each class, so let’s jump into it.

The tier system:

  • S-Tier weapons are the best
  • A-Tier are amazing in their own right
  • B-Tier weapons are just missing something
  • C-Tier are weapons that players should avoid

Apex Legends Season 10: Emergence weapon tier list

  • S-Tier: R-301, Alternator, Rampage, Spitfire, Kraber, Wingman
  • A-Tier: Flatline, Prowler, R-99, Volt, L-Star, G7 Scout, Triple Take, Eva-8, Sentinel, Charge Rifle
  • B-Tier: Havoc, Hemlock, 30-30 Repeater, Bocek Bow, Mastiff, Peacekeeper, Longbow
  • C-Tier: Mozambique, P2020, RE-45

Best weapons in Apex Legends Season 10: Emergence

The proceeding list is the best weapons in the current Apex Legends meta for each class, excluding the care package weapons.

The Triple Take, Kraber, Alternator, and Spitfire are all-powerful, but you won’t find them in most games, hence their exclusion.

Best LMG – Rampage

After receiving multiple nerfs in Season 9 and ultimately being put in the care package for Season 10, the Spitfire has made way for the new Rampage LMG to take center stage. The Rampage makes for a great medium to long-range weapon with a large mag, high damage, and a slow fire rate.

Like most new weapons that get put into the game, the Rampage is currently very powerful, so take advantage of it while it lasts. The best thing about the weapon is the option to charge it up with a Thermite Grenade, which speeds up its fire rate and allows you to break doors just by shooting them.

When charged up, the weapon becomes even more deadly as it can be used at closer ranges. However, this weapon definitely excels at longer distances, especially as it has hardly any recoil.

This is why the Rampage takes the top stop for us as the best LMG in Season 10 of Apex Legends, as its ability to do such high, consistent damage at range and the option to speed up its fire rate for closer ranges makes it very strong.

Best SMG – Prowler

Since the Alternator was put in the care package this season, the Prowler has returned to floor loot. Those who remember the Prowler are a great close-range burst SMG that can absolutely destroy the enemy.

With a 5 round burst, the Prowler has the potential to put out some serious damage per second if you can hit your shots. Although the select-fire hop-up has been removed and players can only use the Prowler in burst mode, it actually performs better in the burst mode, and if players get used to hitting shots, it can be very strong.

Of course, at close range, the weapon shreds and is even very accurate when firing from the hip. The recoil is also very easy to control, especially with attachments, and the Prowler works great with a 2x Bruiser to make sure you’re hitting those shots even from some range.

The ability to burst someone down from close and medium-range while also having the versatility to maintain accuracy while hip firing makes the Prowler the best SMG in the Emergence update.

Best AR – R-301

Apex Legends Legacy weapons r301

The R-301 is the most reliable weapon in Apex Legends Emergence and has been for a while now. Not only is the recoil extremely easy to control for those longer ranged engagements, but the R-301 also has a great fire rate and hip-fire accuracy for those closer ranged battles.

The R-301 is always a great weapon to pick up and allows you to be more experimental with your secondary, as you can use it as a closer or longer-ranged weapon.

Best Sniper – Sentinel

sentinel

Although the Longbow has been buffed to help it since the removal of Skullpiercer, the Sentinel remains the strongest sniper in the game due to its damage capabilities.

Even without the shield cell charge up, which is very strong, the Sentinel performs well. Although it has a slow fire rate, it hits hard in the chest and especially the head.

Apart from the Kraber, the Sentinel has the greatest damage per bullet in the sniper category, usually dropping someone in 2 to 3 shots, and it’s even more efficient when it’s amped up with shield cells.

Best Marksman Rifle – G7 Scout

apex legends g7 scout

The G7 Scout has been one of the most consistently great weapons in Apex Legends since its launch. The weapon has received hardly any nerfs in recent seasons and is still an absolute beast at range.

With a consistent damage output and fire rate, hitting shots with this weapon feels great, especially when you’re hitting headshots. With a 3x or 2x-4x, the G7 Scout can really stand its ground against the other long-ranged weapons in the game, as well as being extremely strong at medium range and even in close combat when hip fired.

Although the Bocek Bow is still powerful, it doesn’t have the same versatility and consistency the G7 Scout possesses. Further, although the 30-30 is also in a much better spot than in Season 8, we still feel the G7 Scout is the most reliable weapon in the Marksmen class.

Best Shotgun – Eva-8

apex legends eva-8

Although it received some nerfs this season, the Eva-8 is still the best shotgun option in the game, mostly due to its high fire rate and ability to do a lot of damage in such a short space of time.

The Eva-8 can even rival SMG’s at close range, which the other shotguns definitely struggle with. Although the Peacekeeper is also a great option, we feel the Eva-8 is still the best shotgun in the game due to its consistent damage and fire rate.

Best Pistol – Wingman

wingman

This isn’t a tough decision, as the Wingman is only competing with the RE-45 and the P2020. However, the Wingman is still the hard-hitting powerhouse it has always been.

If you’re hitting your shots with this weapon, it’s extremely deadly and a great option as a secondary for anyone with a fast, rushing playstyle. Although it has a slight nerf with the removal of Skullpiercer, it’s still powerful and can still hold the Quickdraw Hop-up, allowing for a fast ADS.

There you have it, the tier list and best weapons in each class for Apex legends Season 9: Legacy.

Apex Legends Season 10: How Seer could knock Gibraltar out of the meta

Although Seer hasn’t been out for long in Apex Legends, players are starting to see his potential and how he could become a star in the meta.

Apex Legends Seer meta

Apex Legends’ new addition to the roster, Seer, is already proving to be controversial, with some players even claiming he may push Gibraltar out of the meta.

Apex Legends players have been gifted with a host of new content thanks to the Season 10 update. As well as some interesting changes to weapons, Seer has joined the fight and may potentially offer a shift in the current meta.

Of course, some of the Legend buffs and nerfs have also shifted the meta slightly, but some pros are actually claiming that Seer could shift the meta the most out of any Legend, so let’s get into why.

apex legends gibraltar

Seer is a new Recon Legend whose abilities are based on gaining information on the enemy’s location.

Further, his tactical, Focus of Attention doesn’t only highlight the enemy when scanned. It also shows their health bar, cancels their healing item if in use, and stops players in the process of reviving downed teammates.

It seems this tactical ability is where players believe the power is, and could potentially be why Gibraltar has pushed out the meta if we see more Seer players in the competitive scene.

Apex Legends Seer shifting the meta

apex legends seer

In a recent stream, professional Apex Legends competitor, Albralelie, said that Seer could be a huge problem in competitive Apex Legends. This is because his tactical can basically stop enemy teams from executing a bubble reset.

A bubble reset is when a team can either get a revive or healable off inside the temporary cover of Gibraltar’s Dome of Protection. This has been a staple strategy of competitive Apex Legends for some time now and is also the main reason Gibraltar is so strong in the scene.

However, with the introduction of Seer, players will basically be able to cancel players healing and reviving inside of the bubble with Seer’s tactical, especially as the ability has a long and wide range, making it easy to hit a whole team inside of the dome.

Further, if timed correctly, Seer will actually be able to fully stop a revive and heal by timing it so that the bubble disappears soon after the cancel, a very strong counter to Gibraltar’s most useful tool.

This could actually see Caustic enter the meta over Gibraltar, especially after his most recent buff that makes his gas more prominent. Caustic’s gas lasts much longer than Gibraltar’s dome. Although it doesn’t offer as much protection, it can give teams more time to reset without having to worry about Seer teams capitalizing off canceling a revive or heal.

This is very interesting, and although it may not happen, as teams may still opt for Bloodhound over Seer, if a strong Seer meta enters the competitive scene, we could see Gibraltar counter more often, forcing players to switch Legends or change playstyles.

Apex Legends players believe Seer is inspired by music star Lil Nas X

Apex Legends players are suggesting that Seer has a very similar aesthetic to music artist Lil Nas X and may have been influential to the design.

Apex Legends Seer Lil Nas X

Some Apex Legends fans are drawing on similarities between the new Legend Seer and popular musician Lil Nas X, suggesting he may have been an influence when the developers were creating the character.

Apex Legends has just dropped its brand new update featuring a variety of changes in the patch notes. As well as Legends and weapons receiving buffs and nerfs, players also get to drop in on a new Decimated World’s Edge and Ranked Arenas playlist, keeping the free-to-play FPS fresh.

As well as all this, players have also been able to get their hands on the new Legend Seer, who has an interesting kit and an intriguing aesthetic that many relate to Lil Nas X.

Lil Nas X is a popular musician who has broken onto the music scene in the last few years. The musician is known for his outlandish outfits, and most notable, his cowboy influence due to his hit song “Old Town Road” with Billy Ray Cyrus.

Lil Nas X is constantly seen sporting a cowboy hat similar to Seer’s, which seems to be the main reason for their recent comparison by Apex fans on social media.

Apex Legends Seer and Lil Nas X

Apex Legends Seer

Of course, both are of similar heritage, with African influence being a heavy part of Seer’s lore and design, even having a skin called “Afrofuturism.” However, the main point of comparison seems to be the personality and aesthetic similarities, possessing flamboyant and extravagant qualities.

Similar to Lil Nas X, Seer also has a musical background, with his mother being a dancer. Seer definitely possesses a spring in his step similar to that of a professional dancer, as he moves very fluidly as if every action is part of a routine.

Their outfits also have a similar aesthetic, with Lil Nas X often pictured with gold accents and a cowboy hat, much like Seer’s launch bundle skin.

Fans on Twitter have already picked up on this, with one user even putting the images side by side to compare, demanding that the devs confirm Seer has some Lil Nas X influence in his design.

We are yet to officially know whether Respawn Entertainment was influenced by Lil Nas X when they were creating Seer.

However, we know Respawn is great at representing communities and all walks of life, so we wouldn’t be surprised if this was their ode to Lil Nas X and his breaking of industry norms.
