A few Apex Legends players discovered a glitch that grants them unusually large amounts of Thermite Grenades in their inventory, and now Respawn Entertainment have responded to this game-breaking bug.

Apex Legends has seen its fair share of issues since it first launched, as fans have encountered many glitches that tend to mess with the balance of the game. With Apex Legends Season 8 finally here, some new bugs have arrived with the update.

One game-breaking glitch has been discovered with the battle royale’s Thermite Grenades. These can be incredibly effective tools to use in combat, especially at long-range, and some players seem to have a large number of them available in their inventory.

This caught the attention of Respawn Entertainment, as one of the developers addressed this bug on Reddit.

Reddit user Zikudoari posted a screenshot in the Apex Legends subreddit, in which they showed a display of a player’s weapon loadout. Everything seemed normal except for the fact that they had 4 Thermite Grenades in a single slot.

They then verified that this is something that actually worked in-game, meaning that players can exploit large amounts of Thermites during a battle to constantly dish out explosive damage. This led to a response from the Apex Legends dev support account rspn_pav.

They asked: “Hey, how did you manage to do this in-game? We’re already working on a fix for the exploit in the firing range…”

Unfortunately, Zikudoari couldn’t provide any answers since the screenshot they posted came from a friend. One working theory is that this is a glitch that only happens when playing in the firing range, but there’s no confirmation of whether or not that’s the case.

One user believes so, and stated that the screenshot definitely seems to suggest that. They said: “From the blurry background it seems that you (or your friend) were in the firing range.”

Being able to frequently throw large amounts of Thermite Grenades can easily cause a match to become unbalanced, so this is definitely a game-breaking bug that players could end up abusing. “You say bug, I say feature” said one user.

It’s likely that the developers will be investigating this issue now, and we’ll see a patch that fixes the bug in the near future. With Apex Legends Season 8 finally here, we can expect a variety of other bug fixes and new content in the coming weeks.
