A Respawn Entertainment employee has given players a slight hint towards what to expect in Season 12.

With Season 12 of Apex Legends just a few weeks out, players are excited to find out what’s in store.

As well as Mad Maggie possibly being the next Legend and Crypto finally getting his Heirloom in the Season 12 Collection Event, one of the devs has hinted at further changes coming in Season 12, which has the community speculating.

Respawn Entertainment’s World Director Eduardo Agostini put out a tweet on January 17 hinting at map changes. The tweet mentions Season 12 being “a few weeks away” from release, as well as giving the fans something to ponder when it comes to map changes.

Whenever a new season of Apex Legends is released, players are given new content. Most of the time, this entails map updates to give familiar areas a refresh, keeping the game entertaining.

It seems Season 12 will be doing the same, as the tweet mentions a brand new “skybox.”

As Season 11 saw only two maps in rotation, Storm Point and World’s Edge, players are expecting to see either King’s Canyon and Olympus to return, or perhaps even both.

This hint at a “masterpiece of a new skybox” for one of Apex Legends’ maps has got the community questioning which map will see changes. The fact that the dev has given something away as small as this suggests there is something much bigger in store for players when it comes to map updates.

Further, a new “masterpiece” skybox suggests that something drastic has happened on the map, as it doesn’t sound as if it is a simple lighting change.

Players are speculating that it could be Olympus, which hasn’t seen map changes since Season 9. Olympus was also last seen with ships entering its skybox, and the infestation of an alien plant being brought on the map through the POI Icarus.

Having said that, players in the comments of the Reddit post are uncertain about which map could be getting an update:

“I’ve literally read posts from people on different sources telling me that leaks/datamining all confirm that KC, Olympus, and Storm Point are the map being updated next season lol. I don’t think there’s ever been this level of uncertainty about what the update is.”

We’ll have to wait and see exactly what Respawn has in store for players in Season 12 of Apex Legends when official news is out. Stay tuned to charlieINTEL as we’ll be covering it all.
